[Sidery/Slater] Dejounte Murray is a potential trade target to monitor for the Warriors, per @anthonyVslater. Golden State can quickly put together a package built around Chris Paul’s contract, plus additional assets.

Murray would unlock so many lineups with his 3 ball playmaking and on ball defense

Way more realistic than Markennen and would actually be a huge team improvement.

  2. JoeBidensBurner

Is this actual reporting on their interest or is he just throwing him out there as an option (like he did on the Athletic pod)?

  3. FeelTheRealBirdie

But…why? What problem does he solve for us?

  4. BeetLover1111

He brought it up as an option, I don’t think he mentioned it as something he heard. They just discussed a variety of options.

  5. Direct_Ad6699

So we’re just going to keep ignoring the fact the team is a bunch of midgets? Hell my wife realized that against Toronto. Everyone is bigger than us. We need a BIG!

  6. Lucky7Lenny

Ah yes, another guard. That’s exactly what we need.

  7. ziggy_zigfried

I always liked him and though he’d pair well with Steph but understand his advanced stats are poor

It just the way kerr likes to play.He wants 2 ball handler on the floor at all times. But He would have to start. So it would be Curry,Murray,Klay,Dray,Looney or Curry,Murray,Klay,Kuminga ,Dray. Murray has not been an elite defender in a while now but maybe the Warriors can reignite that part of his game.

if it clicks it could work.Everyone wants Siakem but that supper max could be a deterance. Especially with the front office making effort to control the cap under the new CBA.

  9. IcyHeartWarmSmile

He gets so much crap for not working well on the Hawks that he’s underrated at this point. There’s a reason the Spurs are interested in taking him back. He might not even cost us much.

  10. Draymond4Prez

I hate him, he is a douche. Dude was shit talking nobodies in a pro am game while making millions a year.

  11. bigricebag

    We. Love. More. Guards.

Fucking yes please! Fuck size in the NBA. Amirite?

  12. feelnoways2020

It would be like Chris Paul + Kuminga + 1st round pick for Murray + Hunter

  13. ziggy_zigfried

I actually love this for the team except Murray is kind of a punk

I’d send Kuminga and Paul and that resolves the Wiggs/Kuminga issue

    Lineup

    Murray
    Steph
    Klay
    Dray
    Loon/TJD

Bench Wiggs, Podz, GP2, Loon/TJD, Moody

I think it does move the needle if Murray play defense

  14. I kinda remember Atlanta was interested in Kuminga so he might be involved in the trade but I don’t want to lose him

  15. ziggy_zigfried

Honestly this is better than Siakam

He is young, under a reasonable contact

Siakam and Dray don’t fit well

  16. ziggy_zigfried

Don’t want to go overboard here but Murray has been an Allstar and is 27

I’d trade Kuninga in a second here

  17. i think this is just something spitballing vs an actual thing lol

  18. jb-schitz-ki

is there a reality where we get both Murray and siakam?

  19. richstyle

I like this more than Siakim. He adds a lot to the starting lineup. Steph can play off-ball a lot easier with a legit scoring ballhandler. If he can revert back to his spurs playing days, he can be a great facilitator and defender. The hawks are misusing him and Trae is too ball dominant for Murray to perform at peak.

  20. Coolguynumber01

This is pure speculation from whoever this Sidery guy is. He’s referencing the podcast where Slater threw out Murray’s name as a potential trade candidate ONLY BC he’s one of the players available on the market. Not bc Slater is hearing things from the warriors

  21. will Trae Young be included too? lol

jokes aside, Dehounte Murray for Wiggins doesn’t sound too bad at all, but how would he play along side with JK? still two wings

  22. PlayfulAd8354

Yes please. Right now. Wiggins, Moody, and my left nut

  23. Alright well now I know not to take Slater seriously when it comes to trade speculation because this is comical in its stupidity.

Dejounte Murray’s salary over the next 4 years:

    -24-25: $24.8 mil
    -25-26: $26.8 mil
    -26-27: $28.8 mil
    -27-28: $30.8 mil player option

Edit to add: he also has a lower TS% than Klay this season despite taking significantly more closer to the hoop shots and it’s because his shot quality is god awful, just an fyi. His FG% on shots within 0-3 ft of the basket this season is 54.8%, 15% lower than it was last season and 6% lower than his career average at that location. Klay’s? 81.3%. And I’m using Klay as a comparison because I know how this sub views Klay and shot quality as well as the fact that this sub has decided (incorrectly, but again, I’m using Klay because this sub’s perception is what matters when choosing the frame of reference) he can’t finish for shit around the rim anymore.
