Carmelo Anthony on RJ Barrett: “He’s just a bland player bro. That’s not a shot. That’s not disrespect. I ask a lot of…Knicks fans…it’s just like, he’s good, he get it done sometimes, but he’s not an exciting player. You don’t know if he got 4 or 26.”

Melo wants to be able to comment on the game like the fan while also expecting the respect of a great

You can’t have it both ways. People are not gonna like this even if he’s right.

“That’s not a shot. That’s not disrespect. It’s just a jersey number, Melo.”

  3. TP_Cornetto

People on this sub regularly criticise Barrett and are now surprised when melo does it lol

  4. a1mrbhelpuri

I agree with Melo but that’s 100% a shot at RJ.

“No disrespect bro but you’re average” lol what

  5. samwise141

I don’t necessarily disagree with what he said, I just hope melo doesn’t become the old head who shits on the new generations.

  6. ThingsAreAfoot

A lot of retired players just get drunk, go on podcasts, and say the dumbest shit imaginable.

I know we all do the same here but it’s not a good look.

  7. Otherwise_Opposite65

He is the definition of a bland player. If he were any blander he’d be Tobias Harris.

    Melo ain’t wrong.

  8. PewpyDewpdyPantz

Melo thinks he’s still playing. Dude is taking 20 shots a podcast and missing most of them.

  9. PapaPiccol0

Melo turned into a straight up hater post career

  10. BringBackFatMac

He talked so much shit on that podcast. I wonder what turned him into such a bitter old has-been.

  11. Melo becoming this generations sour and bitter loser. Couldn’t cut it in the end, lost his legacy in Denver and now just lives in his bitterness.

It’s almost ironic because OG is that quiet non-exciting guy even more so than RJ lol.

In terms of him being happy being a 3 and D guy, he only complained about it every off season for the past few years.

I don’t know about him being able to do everything RJ can either. OG never came into what we’d hoped he would on the offensive end and RJ surpassed his career high in 3 games lmao.

This isn’t to say he won’t be good for the knicks, but it is to say melo has no clue what he’s talking about with this comparison.

  13. Took a shot at RJ but complimented OG… somebody tell me what am I supposed to think

“With all due respect, and remember I said with all due respect, RJ’s game ain’t worth a velvet paintin’ of a whale and a dolphin gettin’ it on.” – Ricky Melo

Call us crazy, but in Canada, we like guys who show up, shut up and do their job. Whether that’s a basketball player or someone at Tim Hortons. No one wants to hear you bitching and carrying on about nothing

    He is right though.

Barrett wasn’t good enough to be a star player in New York, neither had a skillset to be a useful role player.

So he was stuck somewhere in between, failed to become both. With Anunoby, you know what you’re getting. He’s an elite wing defender and can shoot those corner 3’s well, also can run the floor in transition. These make him a valuable role player.

Most toxic player ever. Made us give away our core to sign him just so he could be a black hole on offense and play no D. Fuck this guy, so happy he never got a ring. Gifted offensive player but that’s basically it.

  18. Sammyc271

It’s totally a shot, but also, he’s not wrong. I was an RJ fan too.

  19. Eclectic_Canadian

The funniest part is saying OG can do what RJ does, he just doesn’t demand it.

Anyone who has ever seen OG dribble the ball is very aware of the fact that OG can not get to the rim with the ball the way RJ can.

  20. pomelo-mauve

This is not a shot, but melo did less with more talent than any player in NBA history.

  21. Melo just stop lol you couldn’t get it done so now you just sit there drinking talking shit…kinda sad

  22. katsikisj

It’s funny because statistically Melo is spot on
