If I was Thelma I would have straight up left. I would not have stayed for the rest of the game. What a disgusting display of disrespect to a Bulls legend. I’ll speak on behalf of the non-delusional Bulls fans, thank you Thelma for accepting your late husband’s award

A: Jerry’s participation in the Last Dance film painted him as one of the good guys and Krause as the evil gremlin who burned everything to the ground.

B: having known that, why the fuck are they putting this man’s wife in a position to get boo’d like that?

It’s just another example of this organization completely missing the mark. Just completely tone deaf to the frustration of this fan base from the bullshit of the last 25 years.

  3. The crowd didn’t boo her. It’s unfortunate circumstance. They switched to clapping when it panned to her. Honestly it’s totally predictable Krause is not going to get applauded in Chicago. It’s a terrible situation the Bulls set up and could have easily seen coming with any forethought

  4. AggravatingSalt2726

Jerry Krause is hated and will remain hated in Chicago.

  5. purple_goop

Whoever planned this event is a fucking dumbass for putting that poor woman out there to face that. Typical mismanagement from a cheap idiotic franchise

  6. RevMagister

I like to think they didn’t boo out of hatred, it’s kind of an ass backwards sign of respect. Krause would ALWAYS get booed whenever he appeared on the court. No matter what was being celebrated, he got booed. The booing of Krause was just older fans being nostalgic.

  7. Tom_Brady_Cheats

“He WaS rAcIsT, tHaTs WhY hE wAs BoOeD 🤓”- reddit cretins

  8. replicant4522

Michaels got another thing coming when he tries to do a moment of silence for his dead

  9. StoicRetention

the basketball gods made it right, those fans watched the Dubs pour in 48 pts in a quarter

  10. wesskywalker

As we pass up the 25 year anniversary of the ‘98 team, I’m guessing most all the fans booed because of his depiction in The Last Dance. Not saying he was right, but It’s a shame Krause wasn’t alive to at least give his side of the story and maybe have some fans have a little sympathy for him.

His poor wife had to hear all of that herself tonight.

  11. Harmonmj13

Any so called “fan” present at the UC who boo’d Jerry Krause during the ceremony does not belong in our fanbase. Love or hate him, Krause is responsible for those banners hanging from the rafters and we should be grateful for that, cause most teams would be lucky to even have ONE championship in their history. His wife didn’t deserve to be at the receiving end of that classless act. Do fucking better.

  12. No_Neighborhood_2494

Some of these comments are trash. You guys are seriously saying that it’s a bad judgement call to expect the fans to have some level of class?

That honestly says more about you than the Reinsdorfs

  13. chicago_bunny

Everyone is missing the real issue – everyone typing “boo’d.” It’s not a contraction. It’s “booed,” for the love of god.

  14. Philly booed Santa Claus and now we are the city that booed an old lady to tears lol

  15. No_Egg4135Chi

The fans should be ashamed. Basketball gods don’t like ugly. We deserved to lose.

  16. LarryHolmes

They broke up the team and haven’t won since. What do they expect? I’m surprised that fans don’t stay away in droves like they do on the South Side for the Reinsdorf’s other team.

  17. imnotberg

Please don’t blame the woman who is proud of her late husband.

Please don’t blame the organization for recognizing the architect of the best team in the leagues history.

Be ashamed of yourself for being programmed by a 2-star documentary and the most insufferable television network k the fucking dial.

You are miserable and insignificant and deserve everything you get.

  18. imnotberg

This is more embarrassing than when we had two attacks on the field at Sox Park in the early oughts.

  19. Captain__Trips

I blame the Reinsdorfs for curating the culture, thru their own ineptitude, that has led to immense Chicago sports fan cynicism.

  20. th0mascoffen

Jerry Krause was an openly racist glorified frat boy who never drew a fucking dime for the franchise. The team succeeded *despite* him & his lunacy, not because of it.

The Reinsbarfs are widely regarded as some of the slimiest, most selfish people in pro sports.

Fuck Krause. Guarantee they win one, maybe two more if they had someone actually competent up top

  21. OccidoViper

Karma hit like a bitch when after that booing, Warriors hung 48 on the Bulls in the 3rd

  22. GoldenEelReveal76

I feel bad for his wife, she seems like a very nice lady. Whoever put that ceremony together should have anticipated that Krause would hear it from the boo birds. Krause is mostly remembered for dismantling one of the best basketball teams to ever play and shoving the beloved Coach of that team out of the door.

  23. Consistent_Cash_6666

This whole idea of a ring of honor was bad from the beginning. I get the impression but nah they could have done better

  24. BLaZe_Jeffey

Chicago is now on the same level of Philly at this point, that was incredibly low.

  25. coldsandwich73

How the fuck did anyone at the Bulls think this would be a good idea? I feel bad for his widow

I guess only having one championship contending team in the past quarter century has made the fans some bitter mfs. Fuck Reinsdorf

  26. It’s amazing the amount of people who are hardly ever in this sub that came in to bitch about this.

  27. VaBullsFan

Jerry Krause deserves to be in the Ring of Honer, with the exception of Jordan, he was responsible for building that dynasty, and if he had been there he also deserved the boos for breaking up that same dynasty, however his widow did not, at the very least if you can’t be respectful to the lady, then at least DON’T DISRESPECT her either just sit there no need to boo the lady.

  28. donspider1221

As a fanbase we clearly have not moved on from MJ & the 90s. We maybe started to during the Rose era before things went sideways. Classless display by those who booed; tone deaf by the organization to not recognize the risk – not to mention having Neil Funk haphazardly stumble through moderating the whole affair.

While there’s been some nice moments, we haven’t really been very good for the past 25 years. The fan base is fed up, and remain stuck pining for a return to actual relevance. Krause is gonna get skewered any time his image pops up, fair or not, until the franchise gives us a team that allows us to let go & move forward (a la 2016 Cubs). Not an excuse for what happened, it was gross. But time hasn’t healed any wounds, especially after the Last Dance reopened so many.

  29. BlackFriday247

    Typical Chicago sports fan L.

Most classless hayseeds in the country.

Fuck all of you pieces of shit.

  30. Disconnected_NPC

Chicago fans are a joke We boo Krause and then give Reinsdorf money year after year like that isn’t just a fucking contradiction.

  31. Disconnected_NPC

Fuck him and his father. It should be their name changed and told to sell. Fuck the fans that just paid money to the guy that actually broke up the greatest team ever to boo a guy that just took orders from him.
