As a very casual NBA fan I always wondered what’s a defender supposed to do to a shoulder coming in like that? Are you allowed to get physical back at all to stop that?

He could have drawn the foul if he didn’t windmill backwards. But as of exaggeration of contact, that was it. Also, just fall down when he buries the shoulder. Don’t move your feet and just rip over.

I think it should have been a charge and I’m not a huge fan of the defender having to react in a certain way to get it. Like if he reacts the proper way both hits are offensive fouls but the second one esp seems like a missed call. Defender is in legal guarding position and gets displaced. Off arm extends into the defender. We bemoan flopping but then rely on a proper fall to call fouls. Allow the D to actually get a whistle without falling and they wouldn’t have to flop.
