Go ahead how do you bounce back from the game yeah I I think we we hung in there the first half um you know I think down 11 at halftime and really hadn’t made a shot um I felt like if if we continued um to defend not that we were

Perfect but I thought we put ourselves in a decent position um you know and obviously the third quarter um you know was a dagger uh we have to regroup a little bit you know not a little bit we need to regroup you know and and some of that you know is finding

Um collectively I think we need to communicate you know if there’s one thing that um you know you point to that I see that that’s not there that can fix a lot of things um whatever those situations are whether it’s small small pick and roll it’s transition defense we have to be willing

To talk and point all those different things to to get us on the same page um on both ends um and I thought our our shot selection tonight was good um we didn’t see the ball go in um there’s still times we’re passing shots up but

You know we’ve got to we’ve got to keep taking open looks and when you’re not seeing the ball go in that that’s hard to yeah I was just about to ask that psychologically how does not seeeing the ball go in kind of affect everything else on the court yeah I mean guys are

Human you know and there’s certainly a lift when you feel like you’re doing the right thing and you’re not rewarded for It ultimately by um when you’re scoring that that hasn’t been you know we’ve had bad shooting nights um but I I didn’t think you know we came apart from that

Um as I said you know there’s times when you have to take those if they’re you know good shots and that’s not to say you don’t drive the ball either you know but quick decisions and then kick it when the ball changed sides of the floor um I thought

Good things happened um but again you know it it you’re in transition defense situations even more um and we got we got driven you know we’ve got to do a better job containing the ball particularly you know when we’re more aggressive and picking role we’re going

To be in close out situations and they hit a lot of those shots early and then as the game went on they began to drive us in those closeout situations coach you emptied your bench for the second game in a row um a lot of people might think those are garbage

Minutes but people like Trent and Garrison have gotten some good playing time off of that I’m curious to know what are you looking for when you do that and you put those players in really the the same thing that you’re you’re looking for you know with the rotational

Guys you know you you you want them to be disciplined defensively want him to get back um and execute and try to generate good shots third quarter I think it was 8:40 you called the timeout after you gotten beaten deep on a on a fast break I’m curious what specifically did you see

There that you needed to address well you know it was more than just one possession you know it was accumulation that that’s usually when those timeouts come you know if you’re going to call an early timeout um before the mandatory um you know that you see you

Know usually you see a run and and that’s what that was um they they you know they leak out um after they contest shots and you know for the most part we we we did a good job of the other guy in the high quadrant getting back and

Sometimes there was a few times it just kind of went over an extended hand um but again you know we we have to get it done in those situations and you know our guys know that we we we call the timeout to you know get refocused and uh and have a good possession

Offensively when you go down 10 early on in the second quarter and team like yours that shoots a lot from three is there a emphasis or Focus to look to the three even when in the first quarter you might not have shot yeah this is like a

Very common debate you know when a team isn’t shooting well everybody says go inside you know and it really has if if you have a post presence like that and our you know we have some guys that post um go inside to me um means Drive the

Ball you know and often times um or make the right decision you know and often times you’re not going to get all the way to the rim you know we played through the post a couple times tonight and I thought we used our post guys to

Pass the ball um yes you know there’s a point when the ball’s not going in you don’t want to just um but you don’t want to pass shots up you know I think it has has more to do with what your your focus is and you know there’s times when when

You uh when you can make a quick decision and get to the rim draw a foul you know that’s usually something that that that that is really good as far as stopping a run and when you’re not you know when you’re not making but the

Other part is if people close out on you and they’re not guarding you it’s very difficult to drive them because you’re driving into a crowd and a lot of times you know you don’t get anything that that happened a few few times tonight get some shot clock violations cuz we

Passed up shots you know and then the next shot you get or the next opportunity for a shot is is not a good one and and like I said you know if you take those shots you have a chance to rebound them too you know and if they’re

A good shot you know for a team that you know we’ve had situations before where you’re not making and particularly when you’re down later you want to keep shooting because some of those shots get you back you know back in the game I wouldn’t want to tell bogey you know to

Pass up open one you know I would like our guys to to catch and drive the ball and then kick it but that might end up being a 3-2 you know um G given this is the second poor performance in a row on a back toback do

You just chalk this up to just again just a bad performance on the quarter do you feel that any of the external noise maybe surrounding the team is having any effect on on you guys you know I I think you know both tonight was different than last night um the

Last night we were on our heels the entire game um you know it may not have looked as different on the box score um but those were two different games you know as I said um I I thought we were generating good shots tonight they weren’t going in um and we had

Possessions there was a number of possessions defensively where we guarded well you know and you know kusma hit a tough turnaround over an extended hand um you know the ball bounces you know the the wrong way and they get a shot so we have to play through those

Possessions um you know and and any anytime you know whether it’s you’re down um you’re not playing well there there’s always opportunities to kind of look outside and um I think our guys continue to be focused and as I said um to to to regroup a little bit right now

Is a good thing um and we’re playing a lot of games you know we’re four- six four- six we’ve got um some games coming quickly and uh not a lot of time to to practice and regroup that way um but I think just psychologically for us to to

Dig in and focus and as I said I I think if we play um we can play better but you know I think defensively there was more focus and we we see the ball go in you know and and and we’ll have a chance to have you know a very different

Result okay qu Quinn the opposing paint points obviously were a big problem in the first quarter Indiana last night and again tonight Washington had 60 points in the pain had a bunch in that run in the third quarter what I guess what do you attribute that too and what’s the

Potential fix well there’s there’s really there there’s two situations one I think we’ve got to do a better job guarding the ball um and as I said before that usually that could mean closing out um but trying to not give direct line drives where we can help and then there’s other

Situations where you know you you’ve got a 68 odia um we’re giving up a lot of giving up some physicality in those situations and people are putting their shoulder down getting into us and and it’s difficult for us to you know those are higher percentage shots for those

Guys and um again it gets back to the same thing um you know not allowing the ball to get in there um but as I said if someone’s going full speed and they’re driving in you bump you got to make a stand we I mean we had two or three

Times we tried to step in front and take a charge that’s one thing we can do um you know Clint can come over and contest a shot um but if it’s deep like that the ball is in the paint um there’s offensive rebounding opportunities um as

I’m going through this the these are all the things we need to do better thanks coach okay
