All true statements. I am personally against retiring any number without winning a CHAMPIONSHIP š! This move cheapens the retirement of 5 & 22 after THIS budding dynasty wins it’s championships!

Gil is right but you’re trying to use that as an excuse to be angry at something completely different lmao
I think you’re wrong btw, retiring a jersey can be for championships or it can be for what a player really meant to a team and organization. Shaq’s up there for us because he really put us on the map as our first real high profile draft pick that brought us all the way to the finals in the short history of our team at that time. Dwight deserves the same recognition AND has the personal accolades to go along with it. You can hold guys to a standard but that standard isn’t a championship.
It’s hard to argue for anyone else right now. Tracy was incredible in our jersey but it was so short lived. Nick was our first pick and a great player but not of the standard that should be held for a jersey retirement. Penny was awesome and an all time what if player, but he’ll always be remembered as the guy next to Shaq and his highs were also short lived because he couldn’t stay healthy. Guys like Darrell, Vuc, etc. are fun to entertain because of what they mean to our fan base but realistically they’re not there.
Besides, when Paolo and Franz win us our first chip they’ll both get 20′ statues outside the Kia Center anyway.
