[Vecenie] League sources believe Mike Dunleavy Jr values both Kuminga & Moody at a very high level & would love to hold onto them if he can, even if he also understands 1 or both may need to be the mechanism to facilitate much-needed changes…Neither is off the table if the right deal comes along

[Source Article by The Athletic’ Sam Vecenie – “NBA Trade Board 2024: Dejounte Murray, Pascal Siakam and other rumored names on the market”](https://theathletic.com/5188498/2024/01/15/nba-trade-rumors-ranking-dejounte-murray/)

> • You also won’t see Jonathan Kuminga or Moses Moody, two young Golden State Warriors players who could be used to facilitate a deal for a star player. **I don’t think the Warriors have ruled out moving them, but my impression, at least currently, is that they aren’t actively including them** in potential trade packages either. **League sources believe new general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. values both at a very high level and would love to hold onto them if he can, even if he also understands one or both may need to be the mechanism to facilitate much-needed changes with the slumping Warriors.** It’s possible one or both of Kuminga and Moody feature on future iterations of this board, but that’s the reasoning I used to hold them off for now.

> The general feeling around the league is that the Warriors are open for business and are willing to discuss a variety of different players to shake things up after a rough start to the season. However, Golden State is not enthusiastic about potentially moving youngsters Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly. **Neither is off the table if the right deal comes along, but it would be unfair to say they’re on the block at this stage**, even as the Warriors look to alter their roster.

E: Other intel included in the article:

> You won’t see all-stars Donovan Mitchell or Lauri Markkanen. As of right now — again, things are fluid this time of year — my impression from talking to league sources is that the Cleveland **Cavaliers are planning to ride out this season with Mitchell**. Meanwhile, the **price tag on Markkanen is so high that it effectively takes him off the market**, especially with how well the Utah Jazz have played recently.

> I debated leaving Caruso off this list entirely. The **Bulls have been reluctant so far to engage in Caruso trade discussions**, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, which lines up with the impression I’ve received from sources on other teams who have tried to reach out.

> As the Hornets drift out of the Play-In picture, **rival teams believe they’re open for business when it comes to their veteran players, league sources tell The Athletic. Rozier’s hot run could allow them to move his contract off their books and begin resetting around Ball, Brandon Miller and Mark Williams**.

At this point just let me know when there’s a trade on the table. All this gossip isn’t moving the needle

  4. IcyHeartWarmSmile

He’s just trying to inflate Kuminga and Moody’s value, as he should be doing.

  5. Accomplished_Iron805

Lauri Markkanen is the right deal going forward lol

This only makes sense if Kerr actually plays moody. If moody keeps getting DNPs then just trade him.

  7. Moist_Caregiver

This reporting is so meaningless. Every reporter just spews out nonsense until a trade happens which confirms they were full of shit.

This team would be more serious if nobody was off the table. I refuse to invest in the names on the back of the Jersey for the next 3 years.

It’s frustrating when the coach and front office value players very differently

  10. BeetLover1111

Don’t believe it for a second lol especially since Moody was included.

  11. So what you’re saying is…nothing. You said nothing.

I think fans are going to need to come to grips that it doesn’t make sense to trade Wiggins at his lowest possible value and it doesn’t make sense to trade Kuminga on a rookie deal. Yes it may mean this year is not gonna end well, but it sets you up to redistribute salary where it needs to be next year. Ie Klay making a lot less or gone. Cp3 making a lot less or gone. Usage usually follows salary regardless of talent. Westbrook was the last to go through this. You can see this as an executive.
