I’m sure teams do a lot of whacky shit that feed into players’ egos to recruit them in free agency.
Just off the top of my head:
– Chicago doing a recruitment video for Dwyane Wade featuring Oprah Winfrey
– The Knicks making a “lost episode” of the Sopranos where the stars of the show helped LeBron find a place to live
– The Phoenix Suns selling LaMarcus Aldridge on signing with them by signing an 100-year old Tyson Chandler and bringing Chandler into their meeting with LMA as the “big reveal”

The Clippers really don’t get enough flack for their campaign to get Blake to re-sign before trading him to Detroit less than one month later. All-time grimey move.
