[Lopez] Despite his height, Victor Wembanyama maintains he’s not a center. But that’s where the Spurs need him. So that’s what he’ll do. “At the end of the day, I’m ready to do anything for this team.”

New Tim Duncan “I’m not a center” just dropped.

  2. Ilikesporks_

he’s literally playing better as a center, idk why he thinks he shouldn’t be one

  3. Excellent-Cod-3430

    You shoot 29% from 3. You’re a center bro

  4. heybobson

If they can find a complementary* big man to pair with him, then yeah Wemby can play consistently at the 4. Giannis / Brook Lopez and AD / Dwight Howard are examples of this working.

  5. PusseySleigher

If he grows an inch or two, maybe he’ll consider being one

  6. Despite his weight, SquimJim maintains he’s not a fat. But that’s where the chocolate addiction needs him. So that’s what he’ll do. “At the end of the day, I’m ready to do anything for chocolate.”

  7. Bewareofoblivion

“At the end of the day” quotes belong to Giannis tho

  8. x_TDeck_x

He has a point about not being a center, I mean has any other smallball center actually found success besides Draymond? Maybe if Wemby grows a bit but idk

  9. Recognition_Tricky

You’re the tallest man in the world and you can average like 12 blocks a game. You’re a center lol

  10. Putrid_Ad_2256

Great players transcend their position. Magic wasn’t a point guard, nor a center (although he played on on TV, in the Finals) he was a facilitator that could score if needed. I’m sure Pop would love it if he could be a “point-center”, but I suspect that Pop will put him in the best position to succeed. His success is the team’s success. Hopefully he understands that.

better individual production at center, better team results at center, and the best rim protection in the league.. but Wembanyama isn’t a center? I will say his skills are different on the offensive end but even then playing as the 5 means that he’s a complete matchup nightmare

  12. Punjabiveer30

Wake up babe! New Anthony Davis just dropped

  13. Bro needs to get off his imaginary world and just be a center

  14. costcobathroom

i’m ready to do anything for this team, besides not having the worst record in the west lol

  15. The man just wants to chuck from the perimeter even if it leads to worse results.

  16. redditmodsdownvote

lmfao guy is taking the sochan experiment to new heights. put sochan at the 5, wemby at the 1, pretty obvious what needs to happen…

  17. Not_A_Bot_Am_Human

We’ll see how he develops but I’d be surprised if he spends much time at the 4 in his career. Him not playing center negates so much of what makes him special.

  18. PlumAccomplished2509

What’s with this disdain with being called a center?

I know it’s not the most attractive position but just because you’re at the center position doesn’t mean you’re restricted to a certain role. Look at Jokic and Embiid.

  19. “First of all, I’m not a center” Supa’Hot Victor

  20. “First of all, I’m not a center” Supa’Hot Victor

  21. But you are a center, Wemby. Being a center doesn’t have to mean stand in the paint all game but the idea he’s not a center is just denying reality.

  22. thedam100

Man it’s so misinterpreted. Just headline nonsense. He’s trying to say he’s not a traditional center and the spurs doesn’t play him that way. It was in his post game interview after Charolette. Fucking hate this style of journalism.

  23. After hearing all the noise around AD on this subject, I’m really sorry for him that he said this.

  24. Due_Platypus_3913

NOBODY wants to play center or point guard-EVERYBODY wants to be a shooter or”wing”.Nobody wants to actually play a POSITION!Dirk,Duncan,A.D.,now noice foot Wemby-“I’m a forward!”

  25. SixGunChimp

I’m always wary about centers who won’t accept the fact that they’re centers. Look at KAT.

  26. RealPrinceJay

Tweet is really misleading – journalism is dead

Wemby is saying he doesn’t want to be put in the traditional box of what a Center is. He doesn’t mind defending 5s and playing 5 because it’s been made clear that he gets offensive freedom regardless.

  27. Swoosh_rotaerc

Don’t show this to Bill Simmons.

He’ll have to mention it in every podcast the way he says “Luka is not a point guard, he’s 6’8 240”.

I can hear it now “Wemby, you’re 7’5, how are you not a center?”

  28. Secret-Initiative-73

If they pay Hartenstein and move him to PF I could see that becoming a killer frontcourt.

  29. I’ve been saying we need to snag another big 😤

  30. raiderrocker18

there literally isn’t a single actual quote from wemby saying he isnt a center or doesnt want to be a center. all he has maintained is that he doesnt want to “be put in a box”

he wants to do his thing. and he can do that while being the 5

  31. ContributionOld2338

Yak would’ve been great next to him, twin tower .. euroversion

  32. Awanderingleaf

Offensively he better embrace being a center because he can’t make the uncontested shots he gets due to his height and wingspan nor can he create his own offense using his handle.

  33. Did anyone real the actual article? Wemby seems to actually be says that it doesn’t matter what you call him because basketball is basically positionless now.

  34. Yea 29% 3pt-shooting stretch 4 🙄 Go play center you’re 7’4

  35. Imagine if the MF starts shooting 3s at 40% and they stick him at PG…imagine a 6″2 PG trying to get around Victor in LOL
