There’s been an insane update with the Evan forier situation that has said that the New York Knicks May pick up his 20 million do team option if he’s not traded by the deadline and we have to talk about this so what’s up guys welcome back to Nick’s digest it’s Chris

Here and we are going to jump right into the video today because as you may have heard the New York Knicks might pick up the team option on Evan for’s contract which is $20 million by the way if they do not trade forier at the deadline now

Extension in around a year and a half from now ogan anobi is due for an extension in six months from now Julius randle’s only got so many more years left on his contract extension the Knicks have some people to pay now why would they pick up Evan

For’s contract it’s fairly simple it is so they could use him as a tradable contract while also not diminishing value by trading guys in their rotation because any trade that the Knicks make for a star is going to be really just based off draft picks the Knicks have

Eight tradable draft picks in the first round they’ll probably trade at least six of them for some sort of star player since they really don’t have have any other players who are like young assets outside of Quinton Grimes and because of that that is basically now put them in a

Situation where without RJ without IQ the Knicks are going to need to just back up the truck full of draft picks and potentially Grimes depending on what the trade is and then use for’s contract as the tradable contract so they don’t have to trade someone in the rotation

$25 million to work with and you yes you could trade for Malcolm Brogden using forer’s contract a few and a few second rounders hopefully and then use Brogden as a trade chip because you could just use his tradeable contract because his contract goes into next season unlike

For unless you use the team option so here’s the deal like I understand that when we see if this does happen like the Knicks have picked up Evan for’s team option we’re going to get clowned by their fan bases who don’t know what they’re talking

About and we are going to get clowned by our own fan base who doesn’t know what they’re talking about but also I’ll sort of be upset also because it’s going to make financials kind of difficult so I understand why Nick’s fans would be upset but it’s not going to be what it

Looks like on the surface he’s not going to sit with the Knicks if if anything the Knicks would just end up trading him for nothing like trading forier in two second second rounders for like cash if they really need to get rid of his contract you can do that he again it

Would be an expiring contract a team like the Pistons who have are going to have $64 million in cap space this summer they would take a few second rounders from the Knicks and Evan forier so one you could give Cade more shooting and two you could just add to your draft

Picks because you’re the worst team in the NBA so now look I don’t think this is going to happen I do think forier is going to get traded by the Dead line it doesn’t it just doesn’t feel like the Knicks are done making trades like clearly you’re going to need some sort

Of isolation scoring off the bench at least to some degree and Malcolm Brockton could be that guy or it could be someone else like Jordan Clarkson maybe even Colin seon though hopefully they don’t mess with the Jazz because Danny a is well he’s Danny AG we know
