[Moore] “Pascal Siakam has told teams he will not give a commitment to re-sign with any team that is not the Raptors…He will not give a verbal commitment whatsoever… with the Pacers, the Hawks, the Kings, the Warriors or any other team that trades for him. He wants to test out free agency.”

> Pascal Siakam has told teams he will not give a commitment to re-sign with any team that is not the Raptors. If he gets traded to the Pacers, he’s not going to say “Yeah, I’ll re-sign in the summer.” He will not give a verbal commitment whatsoever — let alone an extension — with the Pacers, the Hawks, the Kings, the Warriors or any other team that trades for him. He wants to test out free agency.

Masai fucked it up being stingy the last couple years.

  2. doormanpowell

Huge blunder by Masai and Bobby to not trade him last deadline, along with FVV

  3. GoldenBoyRecords

So is he basically saying if the Raptors offer him the full max he will commit? What’s the flipside to the Raps just offering him that and keeping him

  4. blueseeka

Full max available right now is

    Philadelphia (i believe) and Detroit

Indiana can get there too but its not straightforward

  5. Bonesawisready5

Damn it isn’t likely but Pascal we would love you here in SA next to Wemby haha

  6. I don’t believe any of this bullshit anymore

still think it’ll be the Dubs we do a deal with

  7. Ok-Swimming8024

Can we please stop talking about this dude on r/pacers now?

  8. WorldTwisting

This is because the Raptors can give him a full max.

  9. great job masai gambling on the chance siakam didn’t want an absurd amount of money to wait for a “robbery” like offer that won’t come

  10. Punjabiveer30

Shawty wants that 5th year max, can’t get more obvious than that, if you’re team trying to get him gotta max that boy up

  11. bbuffalo24

Damn that’s tough to hear, guess that’s why you have to sell high when you have a chance to

  12. Pascal wants his money. Won’t accept a penny less. I respect it.

  13. iDareToDream

Great, can we re-sign him now? The FO dropped the ball on this, the time to trade him was last season or even the year before. Complete clown show on this one, and all you’ve done is alienate one of our greatest players ever who actually wants to stay, in a city where we never get high profile FAs.

  14. fuzzynavel34

I respect but it also means we aren’t trading for him lol

  15. We fucked him. Never gave him a team to thrive with. No shooting. No spacing. Made him take a backseat in a contract year. Team is still dogshit.

Sure we get assists. But I’d trade those for wins.

  16. HoopsMcCann750

Link doesn’t work, can someone check the source?

  17. spiattalo

The tweet says he is not willing to commit to any team that is not the Raptors, which makes it sound like he wants to stay.
But then it says he wants to test free agency, which makes it sound like he wants to go where there is more money.

Can the Raptors offer him the most?

  18. Lucky_Scallion

He has a chance to get the best contract in Toronto, so he doesn’t want to be moved. This shouldn’t be surprising, max level players have to leave a lot of money on the table to move in free agency, that’s why we see way more trade demand movement of max players than free agency movement.

  19. JoshSran04

At this point i wouldnt blame pascal, our FO treated him like shit last few months,

Also this isn’t breaking news this guy just copied a report that came out like a month ago

  20. CannabisPrime2

I don’t understand why. If a team is willing to give him a max contract extension, why not commit?

  21. Just as a meta point — it’s hilarious that a player wanting to abide by the CBA and tampering rules is somehow considered “not normal” and means you shouldn’t trade for him.

There was smoke that Jak was going to back to the spurs over the summer, and his agent definitely asked around during FA. I don’t understand why we’re pretending like this is somehow new?

  22. Electrical-Mule-2057

    Good move on his part.

Raptors will let another all-star walk lmao.

  23. Balls_of_Adamanthium

Not sure what Masai was thinking. Now he’s either gonna trade them for a bag of chips or lose him for free.

  24. Raptors are cooked, he’s just gonna stay and dip at the end of the year, nobody is going to wanna get rid of assets if they can’t even guarantee he stays for more than a year

  25. The-Pharcyde

FO really played themselves. Although It’s gonna be funny if Masai still pulls off a good deal after all this.

  26. BradyReas

More players should lower their value around deadline time

  27. OceanicLemur

Wild that it’s headline news nowadays that a halfway decent player will test free agency. It really is so rare now

  28. Thedudeguyman

Why would he? I don’t get the opinion that he is “sabotaging” the Raptors by saying this.

    1. He’s being honest
    2. He’s going to get the max wherever he goes, why would he tie himself to an organization that he doesn’t want to go to?
    3. He should be able to do whatever he wants in general, but the Raptors FO has been treating him dirty this past year. Why would he do them favors for nothing? Why would he drastically change his life for the worse (living in a city he doesn’t want to live in) because of.. reasons..?

The dude has been a stud in Toronto. The only thing keeping us afloat these past couple awful years (outside of Scottie exploding) and he’s been treated just awful.

Good for him man. Best of luck to spicy P. He’s been amazing and exceeded every expectation put on him since the beginning. Just a grinder.

  29. forcedtojoinreddit

Well that tanks his value significantly lol

  30. krypto9er

I feel like part of me should be happy with how attached Pascal is to Toronto, but when it’s at the cost of us receiving a good package for him in exchange for young players and picks it’s absolutely horrendous. FO has definitely made some serious mistakes in roster construction and assessing the potential of this roster.

  31. Pascal being teamless in October and having to sign a one-year “prove-it” contract would be the funniest thing ever.

  32. I love pascal, but this shit has been pissing me off so much – best way to burn bridges with fans is to be salty during the exit. If we loose him for nothing or get shit in return cause of his stubbornness, he’s gonna get booed everytime he returns.

  33. gustriandos

Seems odd. Getting traded has proven to be the best way to get paid.

  34. Draymond4Prez

    Bye bye Masai

Got little back for OG, Let FVV walk for nothing and now will do the same with Siakam
