The Pascal Siakam Trade Is INSANE

The Pascal Siakam Trade Is INSANE

Pascal SE yakum is headed to the Indiana Pacers in exchange for Bruce Brown some salaries and three first round picks now SE yakum to Indiana is a deal that has been rumored for a while this is the first really really big trade piece uh you know star trade so far at the NBA

Trade deadline and this is an incredibly interesting deal for both teams and I want to start by talking about Indiana’s perspective here a couple of things that are really important for them in this deal obviously Bruce Brown has been good for them especially since uh since halberton has been hurt he’s been taking

On more of the on ball responsibilities he’s a good player we’re going to talk about that a little bit later with Toronto but it’s important to point out the players that are not in this deal for Indiana and that’s Benedict Maan and that’s jarus Walker they are not trading

Away any of their core young pieces in exchange for Pascal seaka which is part of the reason why it’s going to cost them three first round picks in addition to Bruce Brown and some salary and this is a fit that has made a lot of sense

Here for a while the SE yakum rumors to Indiana have been pretty assistent even going as far to say that they would be in on signing him as a free agent this upcoming offseason which is a huge part of this as well and just on the floor the combination of tyres halberton and

Pascal sakam is really really fun and really intriguing once halberton comes back and is fully healthy I obviously there’s no way of telling in this moment if this pushes Indiana you know into a top four conversation at Eastern Conference or contenders or anything like that they still can’t guard anybody

And that is still going to be an issue with seaka but if you have you know mathine Halbert and miles Turner Pascal cakam that’s a really really cool group now initially this might seem like a ton to give up for for SE yakum right I mean three first round picks plus a useful

Player in Bruce Brown seems like a lot especially when you consider that he’s an upcoming free agent and if this was a different team that maybe had a better chance of signing seakan free agency this would feel like a lot but there’s two aspects to that one zakum is really

Good I mean he’s an all-nba cowo player he has made all NBA teams he is very very good and I think he’s someone that kind of gets overlooked a lot throughout the league because of being in Toronto and there’s just a lot more stars that are you know maybe a little bit flashier

SE yakum is very good the Pacers added an lnba caliber player through this deal they got the best player in the deal that cannot be overlooked and also if you’re Indiana even though you would have had the ability to bring him in in free agency you know with a Max contract

It’s much easier to just go ahead and trade for the guy and then sign him to an extension then it is to keep your fingers crossed and hope that you can convince him to sign with you when there’s all these other teams buying for him and Indiana’s

You know mindset here was yes this is going to cost a lot but we’re adding an all NBA caliber player and we’re guaranteeing that he is going to be on our team next year which would not be a guarantee if you wi into free agency and

Then at that point if you don’t get se yakum you have lost the opportunity to bring in an all NBA calber player because that seemed like the one guy they felt at least you know a little bit confident that they could get in free agency having said that three firsts is

A lot even for a player as good as seakan that’s going to be a concern a little bit for the future for the Pacers they have an extra first- round pick that is not their own uh that they can use here they’ve obviously you know two

Of their own as well so it’s not necessarily like they’re giving up three of their own first round picks so that certainly helps here but to me I like the deal it it’s a solid you know bb+ for Indiana because of the caliber of player that they’re bringing in the

Argument could be made that could have just waited till the offseason and saved these assets or potentially used them for another player but if you’re the Pacers and you have the opportunity to trade for an all-nba caliber player that wants to be there and wants to sign with

You that’s an opportunity that you kind of have to take because if you’re not going to get them this way then you have to find them through the draft and if you don’t think you have one of those guys on your team right now that’s going to develop into one of those players

Trading for someone like SE yakum is the only way to do it now for Toronto this is a deal that I really really really really like for them I mean we’ve been talking about Toronto for two months now right about the fact that ever since not

The year after kawhai left but any year following that they have not been anything close to a contender they’ve barely been a playoff team they’re clearly you know kind of on this downhill trajectory and they needed to get value out of their players they lost van Fleet in free agency in the

Offseason they trade away OG and anobi for some good value and now they get awesome value out of a player in Pascal sakam that was not going to be on the team in a handful of months when the summer came around Pascal cakam was going to be on a different team they

Were very far apart on extension talks it seemed like a certainty that he was going to be playing elsewhere and to get this kind of value not just the draft picks which is going to help them you know continue to build this team now kind of as they move into the Scotty

Barnes era but also Bruce Brown is someone that they could flip later on as a team option next year for $20 million which sounds like a lot but Bruce Brown is useful and he’s someone that you can you know use this year maybe still move before the deadline to another team or

Going into next year as well um he’s someone that they could still get you know late first round value out of someone like Bruce Brown and I think part of the reason he’s in the deal is because they wanted one of the young guys math or Walker they didn’t get him

And so ultimately they got Bruce Brown in the deal instead and so conceptually in terms of future team building for Toronto this makes a ton of sense because they’re obviously going into a new era and then also making sure that you’re getting value out of someone that

Wasn’t going to be on the team anyway and when you look at the two trades in combination where you have ogn and Obi going out getting Emanuel quickly and getting RJ Barrett Pascal SE yakum going out getting Bruce Brown some salary and three first round picks that is an

Awesome Hall if you’re Toronto you’re trading Away really good players both those guys are very very good but a foundation of quickley Barrett Scotty Barnes some of the other young guys on the roster and multiple extra first round picks for an Indiana team that is not guaranteed to be a contender by any

Means they still can’t guard anybody and they’re really really good but that’s not like this is a guaranteed you know 25th and later pick that you’re getting here over the next couple of Seasons uh you know from Indiana and mostly I’m just glad that Toronto finally realized

And decided that it was time to make moves like this because the disaster scenario for them was going into the off season and just assuming that they were going to be able to resign not only se yakum but ogan and Obi as well who they also traded away the year after losing

Fred Van Fleet for nothing in free agency this is something that they absolutely Ely had to do so moving forward for both of these teams for Toronto I’m really excited to see what Scotty Barnes continues to grow into now with with all the space around him like

Him and oan and Obi and SE yakum all kind of occupied similar places on the floor so now it is very clearly like Scotty Barnes is our best player kind of territory that they’re in here and then also RJ Barrett has had some good moments quickle has had some good

Moments and then they have some more draft compensation here moving forward in addition to what should be a a good first round pick here coming up as well cuz they’re not going to be very good here to end the season and for Indiana they got to figure out a way to guard

They’ve got to figure out how to kind of make up for the loss of Bruce Brown on the perimeter but when halberton comes back him and SE yakum together offensively are going to be awesome and if they can Shore up the defense maybe they’re not done making moves and

Obviously they’re still going to have some flexibility this off season as well in free agency this is a really really cool move for them for Toronto I’m going to go a plus just because if you’re talking about a guy that’s not going to be on the team in a few months and

You’re getting you know multiple first round picks that obviously a great deal and for Indiana B B+ kind of territory the only reason it’s not better than that is just because this doesn’t guarantee you anything no trade guarantees you anything in the NBA but if you’re looking at the roster for

Indiana it is an improvement they got the best player in the deal and they added an all NBA caliber guy but they still might not have a top four roster in the Eastern Conference and that’s concerning for a team that just traded away multiple first round picks for a

Player in cakam that is very very good but doesn’t necessarily put you in an entirely new category in the Eastern Conference the bottom line is though I cannot wait to see what both of these teams now look like after this deal with seak and Indiana with all the new pieces

Uh plus a little bit more freedom for Scotty Barnes in Toronto these are the kinds of deals that I love in the NBA where Indiana is taking a risk on SE yakum being kind of the missing piece for them and Toronto is moving into a new Direction in a really smart and

Intelligent way these are the deals that I love and I cannot wait to see how this works out for both teams

Pascal Siakam has been traded from the Toronto Raptors to the Indiana Pacers for Bruce Brown and 3 first round picks.

  1. There's a very important point that was not made here. The Pacers roster is absolutely loaded with young talent. The sixth pick from last year's draft, Jarace Walker, has barely played and spent most of the season with their G-League affiliate. Same thing with their other first rounder from last year, Ben Shepherd.

The Pacers have eight former young lottery picks on the roster and they are leading the league in bench scoring by a full five points per game. They have plenty of young talent and don't have to be concerned with losing a couple mid to late first round draft picks because of it. They can't get all the promising young guys they have on the floor already.

Lastly, at some point in this season or early next season, Jarace Walker will crack the starting lineup and will make a huge difference on the defensive end for the Pacers. There's little doubt in my mind that he is an absolute stud and will substantially improve the Pacers on the side of the court they are weakest.

  2. Indiana can’t extend Siakam unless Siakam signs for similar money he is on. Where as if Siakam waits until free agency he can be offered more money by Indiana. He won’t be signing an extension

  3. Totally A+ to the pacer a perfect 3rd man with defense, playoffs and finals experience. Now the pacer need to have an athletic PF scorer to be the 2nd man.

  4. Finally a sane take. I'm tired of seeing Raptors fans crying about this like we haven't been a play in team for how many years now with Siakam.

  5. Appreciate your insight so quickly after it dropped.
I don’t always agree with you but I do appreciate your content.
    Blessings in 2024 my friend

  6. As a Raptors fan, I’ll tell you most of the coverage up here is pretty negative on the return. And I tend to agree.

Brown is unlikely to contribute much as a Raptor (other than potentially ruining our tank attempt to keep our top-6 protected pick),

And the rest of the first-round picks are highly unlikely to be meaningful.

At the ending the day, we traded an all-NBA player for what is very likely to be nothing meaningful at all.

Our GM (Masai Ujiri) has shown very little ability recently to uncover talent in the draft, and he missed an opportunity to rebuild when it was obvious to everybody we weren’t going to be contenders.

  7. Yall happy with a 17 avg point and yet we got 6 in return lol 😅 okay thanks remember when you sign him for over 300m for an avg of 17 a season and 15 playoffs 😅 lol thanks for the 3 first rounds and 3 players lol

  8. an A+ for the raptors is wild. they got three nobodies and a couple sketchy pics. heartbreaking loss in siakam.

  9. Bruce Brown wasn’t a substitute for a young guy. They needed to match the money bench the Pelicans being involved

  10. A+ when the picks they received will probably be late lottery and late first rounders? They could've gotten double that haul last year for him. I wish my teachers graded like you, I would've had to try way less hard in school

  11. This is a A+ for the Pacers. They got rid of a 20mill, 12ppg player and 2 absolute shit first round picks that will be in the mid 20s and a protected first. BIG W for the Pacers!

  12. He was supposed to be the face of the Raptors for a decade and it didn't pan out. As a Raptors fan, we seen flashes of it but that abrupt stop to the 2019/2020 seemed to derail things. The Raptors, minus Khawi, were the hottest team leading into shut down. Siakam was looking like he was headed for top 5 NBA star. They finished 53-19. Things just never seemed the same after the shut down and bubble. It took Toronto 3 years to figure it out. But best of worst case scenario

  13. I love that both teams are commiting to the future. Raptors have a clear direction of rebuilding for the future and the pacers are all in!!!

  14. How is this an A+ for the raptors and a B+ for pacers? They CRUSHED this not giving up any core pieces.

    Pacers only gave
nwora (who they were paid to take)
Brown (who they were likely to decline for cap space)
3 late first round picks 😂

Pacers still retain what 4 FRPs and 11? 2nds and Trade-able pieces. They can make further moves.

  15. Jaylen Brown your next video Sporting Logically 😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤😤

  16. how is it a better move for the raptors than the pacers? they got 3 first round picks that will by no means be any better than a 20th pick (20-25th). which statistically means they MIGHT get 1 rotational player out of these 3 picks.
then you trying to say that bruce brown and maybe a rotational/servicable player is a better deal than siakam? indiana won the trade.

  17. This at most a B for the Raptors… they could have gotten way more a year ago. Picks in the 20s are not that valuable esp. for an all NBA player. He will be great for Indiana driving and finishing in transition and slightly upgrading their defence. A+ for the pacers and I am sure he is staying in Indiana
