Gives me a chance to share a very, very unpopular opinion: The Horse wouldn’t even make a team in the NBA in 2024. In-between game, kinda good on the glass, pretty good with the midrange. Reasonable defender at the time, but not what anyone would call a stopper. Hustled and played with heart, and his 17-footer was pure… but I can’t think of a single guy (edit: okay how about Joe Ingles, I’ll give you Uncle Joe) making an impact on a current team using his particular skillset (would we call him a “stretch five?” At 6 foot 9?). He’d get run off the court. Imagine him matched up against…literally anyone today. Naz Reid. John Collins. Aaron Gordon. BBQ chicken all day, every day. Hate me for saying it, I understand.
He’s lucky to have played when he did, because he was really good at using *those* skills at *that* time against *that* comp. He made the most of it.
