So about last night Spurs lost I know 117 to 98 fall to 7 and33 on the season it wasn’t pretty it wasn’t pretty at all uh you know Boston uh you know really took care of business in the opening frame and in the second frame we’ll talk about that in a few minutes

Uh credit the Spurs they did rally a little bit in the second half it just was was too little too late for your silver and black so what what just happened all right well takeaway number one is something that we talked about in the uh preview yesterday is watch for

The three-point line watch for pton Pritcher watch for just a three line in general and lo and behold that is the biggest takeaway right now is the Boston Celtics just shot the lights out from the three-point line they go eight for 18 for 38 for 47% from the three line

Versus your Spurs Spurs three-point defense was just non-existent and that was pretty much the only biggest the the well a big big big reason why the Spurs lost to Boston they just could not close out on those three-point Shooters couldn’t run them off that is a big

Reason uh why your Spurs lost takeaway number two Spurs um are back in their old ways I think it’s safe to say that uh not playing 48 minutes you look at the opening two periods they got out scored 30 to 25 in the opening frame you’re okay okay fine they’re still in

It only down five and then Boston just unloaded on them in the second uh quarter 40- 20 you heard that right Boston out scored the Spurs 40 to 20 and that first half was all that Boston needed and that was out without Derek white who was not even playing without

Chris porzingis and the Boston sub still uh gave it to the Spurs now go to the Spurs they did make a rally you know in the third quarter they did win the third period 3 to 24 they got things somewhat close but it just again just wasn’t

Enough that that Boston Le was just too huge to overcome takeaway number two again the Spurs are falling back in their old ways not complain not playing for 48 minutes uh you know we saw that over the last few games maybe not the last two Atlanta and uh yesterday versus

Boston but prior to those two games you know they were competing at least they made a comeback versus Atlanta you didn’t see anything like like a major comeback you didn’t see anything like that from from San Antonio even in the final quarter the Celtics out scored the

Scurs 23 to 20 so yeah got to learn to play 48 minutes this is going to sound uh like a broken record here but um two players first player is this the broken record part Victor wi bayama again 27 points in 27 minutes he was on a minutes

Restriction he was a point a minute on that Court he also finished with five rebounds and one assist yeah you just I just cannot wait until he’s lifted from the minutes restriction papovich did say post game that they added a few more minutes to his minutes restriction he

Was at 24 now he’s allowed 27 so you couldn’t imagine once he’s Unleashed I think it’s just going to be a lot of headaches for the opposition and far of takeaway number three is the second player is Devin vasel after having a horrible two game outing heading into

Boston uh finally rebounded 21 points in two rebounds and three assists in 30 32 minutes he looked more aggressive papovich talked about Devon’s play after the game saying they want him to focus more on defense and let his defense turn into offense so uh yeah that’s a good

Sign uh for Devin hopefully he’ll continue that he has been streaky this season he had a career night earlier uh this month or last month or you know 30 points and then you know he had couple bad games and now he had 21 points so hopefully that’ll continue so yeah it’s

One of those things yep Spurs lose again no shocker here Spurs will next face Charlotte in Charlotte uh this Friday it’s the first game of a back-to-back papic did say he does not know which game Wy will sit out but he is going to sit out one of those games so likely it

Appreciate you thank you for having me much how was practice by the way I know you just finished yeah it’s been good it’s been good we got some shots up went over some things uh kind of getting the body F back good coming off the road for

Two weeks so it’s been good yeah well we thank you for hopping on lockdown Spurs we’re going to be discussing you uh you’re having a a career season right now we’ll get into that uh the Austin team came out strong to start the regular season and then then some gaming

Chatter chat between me and rayquan later on on lock down Spurs but you know your path to the NBA man it’s it’s been pretty good man you get drafted by the Nets uh you you had that game with with Brooklyn you show know just played really well then went into Long Island

And now you’re with the Austin Spurs I mean how’s it feel annoying that you made it to the NBA uh it feel good it feels good it’s a dream obviously come through from a kid but other than that I think I expected that from myself just

You know like you said the is different and I’m kind of staying patient with it hope we get come so it’s been good yeah exactly so so you know you had a lot of um time with Brooklyn and and their G League system and then with the Nets

Themselves when you came to Austin uh you know what did you bring from that experience to Austin and what do you think that’s lending to you right now because you’re playing a career uh season so far I want say just the confidence aspect of it you know knowing

That obviously I played against some other guys and high level guys and just kind of bringing that to the team and kind of my experience a little bit so just you know building confidence throughout the team and that a unselfish play so yeah yeah well you know speaking

Of your stats I mean um let’s just say you’re pretty pretty good this year I mean I mean across the board career high in uh in points per game at 17.3 uh career high and field goal Tams 12.3 what stands out to me rayquan is on the defensive end you’re averaging

Nearly three steals a game 2.8 I mean and and also to mention you’re facilitating career high 3.5 assists per game what’s got it into you this season um I think just slowing now you know reading the game and taking what the defense give me and obviously just viewing it from different points I

Think uh obviously played two years before just the game slower to me and just playing with confidence and playing my game and playing free so been good it’s been good I’m enjoying it so far what you know obviously you know you’re you’re appreciating all your uh you know

Your well played this year but what do you think you like the best about your play so far this season is it on the offensive end or the defensive end where do you think you made your biggest strides that’s a good question I would say really just trying to play a

Complete game I think on both ends like trying to you know defend and make sure I’m doing what I’m doing offense but also coming down and playing the defense and rotating and making the right right reads on defense and you know taking care of my assignments and I think just

The steals part is just showing my a little bit of coordination and my IQ on the defensive end so I’m really excited about that yeah um what have the coaching staff with Austin been telling you I mean you obviously are a focal point you’re you’re a big head of the

Snake uh for the Austin Spurs on both ends of the Court you know how are they giving you feedback what are they hint telling to you about your improvements this year uh just to play my game and be confident I think that’s the main thing from the coaches you know just doing we

Do it in practice applied to the game and following the game plan and just playing off that you know playing off my instincts and my strengths and know my weakness and when the force things and when not so really just give me the the open floor and playing freely I think

That’s what they do for everybody trying to build that so yeah you’re playing with Austin obviously it’s the g-league affiliate with the San Antonio Spurs um you know that link is strong I mean it is strong I mean look look who’s been in your uniform before Deonte Murray Derek

White Trey Jones Blake Wesley Kellin Johnson the list goes on boban marianovich played with the Austin Spurs I mean it is just so many players have gone through that when you look back and seen like that kind of list of star power uh even Zach Collins played with

The Austin Spurs um what do what is I mean I think that should tell everybody that hey Austin can really lend you a spot in the NBA whether it be a San Antonio or elsewhere yeah no it’s it’s a great pipeline like you said like a lot

Of guys came through and had success so I’m I’m looking forward to like being the next guy so hopefully you know God willing that it happens but it’s been a great environment and you know obviously you see the translation from this organization to up top in San Antonio so

It’s been good and hopefully I’ll be the next one yeah yeah ex I mean I hope you are too you yeah but you look at that pipeline my goodness I mean you got I we we can just sit here pretty much all day and the rest go like Danny Green yep

Came from that pipeline um believe it or not there was a minute I don’t know if you know this like some good Austin Spurs history maybe it was D-League history but for a quick second Tony Parker actually played with the Austin Spurs I mean it was quick I didn’t know

That I know that yeah yeah it was when he was coming off his rehab when he had that he busted up his knee um they needed to him to get back into the flow so what they did I’m not kidding you they brought the Austin Spurs team to

San Antonio so they can practice with him and play with him in some sort of structured thing so I mean yeah the Spurs really rely on Austin a lot when you see that knowing that the parent team San Antonio relies on Austin so much that’s got to make you feel

Confident enough to know like hey they’re keeping tabs on you guys yeah for sure for sure they do a lot of check-ins you know obviously guys come down and watch our games and whether that’s front office or some player so it’s kind of all the same same family

And it’s you feel that way here too so it’s one big family and we feed off that too so it’s been good you mentioned that uh the San Antonio side of things they come in and check up on you guys have they spoken to you what kind of feedback

Have you been getting I wouldn’t be able to say like what they’re D directly looking for but you know I was think that you know to match guys with their roster and you know guys that share the ball play defense defend and you know playing the right way I think that’s

Kind of the SP Spurs way and our coaches preached that here and we just try to you know take that and appla to the quarter use that as kind of our team identity so we so we do get the opportunity to go up there it’s like we fit right in

So you mentioned some of the San Antonio players come in to check out uh to take in some of the guys uh what how do that make you and the rest of your teammates feel when you see the San Antonio players make the track to uh Cedar Park

Yeah no it feels good it feels good it shows that they are obviously invested into what we’re doing down here and they you want to see some good basketball and they care about you know what other guys doing sure you got like Dom that comes

In and play Blake so it’s kind of just support and Sh love I appreciate it it’s always good to see familiar faces to stands and kind of catch up with some guys so when when uh when Don Barlo and your Blake Wesley’s when they were wearing

The Austin uniform with you um I I’m pretty sure you saw them coming back and forth between San Antonio and Austin you know did you lean on them to learn more about what maybe it it takes for San Antonio to wreak so to call up guys you

Know how much did you see them getting the call up you know and you know that that must have encouraged you because you know that they’re making it and you want to support your teammates but also encourages you as well yeah for sure I mean obviously you sharing the court

With those guys you practicing with those guys and kind of competing against them so kind of see where you align against them and you know where you measure up so it definitely gives me confidence but and knowing that you know I can play that level but until then you

Trouncing them can you talk about that hot St to the team yeah I think we just kind of came together and figured out our play play style and went off that I think everybody’s you know getting used to everyone’s game and understanding I just go in that chemistry take some time

So we kind of at that mid season point now where kind of hearing our stride and you know sharing the ball playing well playing our selfish and helping each other out on a defensive end so I think we do those three things we can play with anybody I think we really good team

A deep team so I’m confident in our team yeah mean you guys I mean my goodness I mean you it was a lot of the San Antonio Spurs fans catching that they’re like oh my goodness you’re seeing Austin’s dude right now you’re seeing what Austin’s right now up to that that comeback win

To secure what is it your fifth win in a row where you all won by one point that was nuts what was it like to play in that kind of game it was a fun game it was it was a definitely a good game I

Think the game before that we uh kind of won big and kind of came out you know a little slower but it was it was good to compete against those guys and it was it was a back and forth game and we knew it be tough but especially on the road but

It it was a fun game to be in compete against I think as a basketball player you want to be in a close game and a tight game because you kind of dream of those moments of you know last second shots or whatever that may be so that to

Compete against those guys yeah what what have you learned so far about being with the Spurs system you know and that that family we Loston in San anonio what have you learned the most about the organization um just showing every day being consistent you know being professional uh doing what you asked to

Do you know and doing your job I feel like that’s the main things here and obviously they’re unselfish and every plays the right way and plays for each other so just kind of those things and trying to apply that every day that you show up to the gym practice a game

Whatever that may be so things are definitely ran the right way here and I enjoy it I like being here so yeah yeah I you know what I enjoy most about um catching Austin Spurs games or you know outside of you guys on the court and

With the action it just how much crazy zany theme nights they are you know seriously last year they had they had car freshener air freshener night I’m not kidding had air freshener yeah I know hey um you know you you guys you know the G league is

Always a test ground for the NBA it has been you know from new uniforms to basketball to new rules and everything what does it feel like for you as a player knowing that you guys more often than not will get to you know see the future of the NBA and what could

Possibly impact it you guys get that first yeah it’s kind of like you’re ahead of the curve a little bit it’s kind of different rules and you know obviously the one shot free throw I’m a fan of that sometime when I’m making them but when I’m missing them

It’s like all right I want the second shot but other than that it’s been good it’s been a the game style of plays it’s fun it’s up and down uh fastpac you know a hot scoring game so I think it’s it’s been good if the NBA adopt some of the

Rules and it definitely be a good game to watch entertain the games so yeah exactly exactly yeah and you know we talked about your teammates Don Barlo and Blake Wesley what are your thoughts how do you think they’re doing with San Antonio right now now I’ve been watching

I’ve been tuned in watching the box scores I kind to catching some of the games when I can but it’s been good to see those guys like flourish a little bit you know they’ve been grinding down here with us and trying to prepare for that moment so it’s good to actually see

Those guys get some in and trying to show what they can do up there at that high level because they’re good players yeah absolutely absolutely um rayquan you know you know you before we hit record I warned you about the Big Nerd vomit behind me it’s all over the world

Right now now you made it clear to me you’re not you know you’re not that much of a nerd as I am but you do like gaming you know and a lot of fans definitely love gaming you know whether it be your fortnite your League of Legends whatever

But a little birdie told me you’re pretty good at fortnite is that true yeah I play I play a little bit I play a little bit I was actually playing yesterday before on the off day so when I can I think the last two weeks I haven’t played at all you know we’ve

Been on the road for like maybe 14 15 days so kind of just get back in the Rhythm a little bit but I definitely play you know fortnite matter looks 2K here and there but other than that those two games okay tell tell me your best run in

Fortnite you must have had some incredible run right I mean tell me about it probably the highest kills I would say in the game 16 15 or 16 that was like that was that was a streak just like the kills but actually wi okay yeah

Wins are hard to come by so maybe like three or four wins in a row but other than that feel was is I had some high kill games for sure yeah what’s your build when you uh parachute in bill I mean I try to like as far as try to land

Like the quiet place though like you know so I can kind of get my loot my guns you know get all the materials I need so I can you know get into the fight a little bit later but for the most part I try to you know get out the

Way you know you know I mean do you want to give out your gamer tag I mean do you want to you know so maybe fans first bans can play with you I have two different ones so it’s like it’s kind of hard honestly but I don’t know yeah I

Just I’ll just keep that I’ll keep it I’ll keep it all right see see everybody who plays fortnite and NBA 2K Le keep an eye for anything rqu ish you know you never know it could be him he could be playing against a pro player he is
