How the undermanned Indiana Pacers beat the Sacramento Kings + more on the Pascal Siakam trade
Pacers are undefeated in the Pascal sakam era he did not play Thursday night but the Pacers beat the Kings weird ending but a heck of an effort from the short-handed Pacers to get it done we’ll talk about that win and plenty more on chakum and that trade all on today’s
Lockon Pacers podcast you are locked on Pacers your daily Indiana Pacers podcast part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day what up y’all happy Friday congrats you made it through the week and welcome into another edition of the lockon Pacers podcast where are we of course
Talk about the Indiana Pacers as always my name’s Tony East I cover the team for Forbes and Si and today do we have a lot to get to What a Day from Pacer land sakam is officially completely on the Pacers the physical stuff is done uh the Pacers beat the
Kings in Sacramento with a lot of key players out young guys step up huge win to bounce back after two crummy losses on a road trip a very big day for the Pacers and we will covered all of it right here on the lockdown Pacers podcast if you’re looking for very
Instant trade reaction and Analysis yesterday’s show with Derek Kramer is for you we will get into plenty more seak stuff today some more financial stuff I want to dive into some more pick stuff we know more about zakum potentially staying with the Pacers going forward heard this from lots of
People now we will get to that second because the big story to me is the game that just happened the weirdest Pacers game of the season to me they’re 126 121 win over the Kings Kings are not playing well right now and yet I still think
This is quite a win for the Pacers who did not have Tyrese hurn who I can’t believe I’m out TI this did not have Pascal cakam did not have Andrew nard and did not have Aon n Smith what you think of the Pacers starting five is going to be or their
Rotation whatever going forward you could argue that’s four starters right I don’t know what their starting lineup’s going to be but that is an easy argument to make they had to scrap and Claw with 11 available players because James Johnson is also waved he’s unavailable until they can resign him once he clears
Waivers so the only normal starter was Miles Turner and then it was McConnell maen heal and Smith a decently normal starting five maen uh excuse me the bench was OB which is kind of normal Isaiah Jackson who got a concussion and barely played Ben Shepard and jarus Walker both playing almost 20 minutes
That was the whole rotation for the Pacers in this game and this was the best game they’ve played in the past galaka okay I made that joke on Twitter during the game I wanted to get it again during the show just a really really really impressive win for the Pacers
Because despite not having all those guys and despite it looking like this might be a tough one for them right they made their first four shots Kings respond the Kings go up they take a lead in the middle of the first quarter I thought okay they the hot star over the
Kings are going to win no no no the Pacers were better the whole game basically like that don’t I don’t think that’s hyperbole you can look at the game chart that tracks each team’s lead when they had it how long they had it whatever once the Pacers got the lead
Late in the first quarter they never gave it back the entire game the entire last three quarters they were ahead almost a catastrophe which we’ll get to in just a moment but the Pacers were the dominant team in this game I think that is wild how comfortable they looked in
This game and you can point to everybody and say they did a job or a key job in this game maybe it wasn’t their normal job it’s hard to say anyone did their job given the circumstances but let’s run through some vets first T.J McConnell has to play point guard has to
Play a lot of it he was winded by the end of this game 32 and a half minutes for T.J McConnell 20 points 10 assists nine to 14 from the field awesome game putting pressure on the rim was a big part of the Pacers paint Point production the triple PS of this game
Pacers had 62 points in the paint despite not getting there that much in the fourth quarter I think they had 58 after three quarters and TJ McConnell was a huge part of that vet number two buddy hee was the backup point guard and did a pretty dang good job of it 12
Points not a great shooting night for him but eight assists a season high for heel one off of his career high two crowd silencing threes in Sacramento they were booing him and then they started booing their own team he had six boards everything except for the thing
Buddy heeld usually does he did very well in this game Miles Turner uh 18 points on six for 12 shooting he had five free throws in this game he was solid on the offensive end the vets were all good and if you remember when I did the very first show after halton’s
Injury one thing I said was I even wrote this you know the veterans are going to have to be good for the Pacers to survive and win games in in halton’s absence and that’s how they won today those three players were awesome but that’s not all of why the Pacers won
Because the rest of the rotation was all young guys I don’t know where everybody sits on Obi top and on the young guy old guy debate whatever he was great 10 points three rebounds four assists plus 21 was Mr Obi topping in this game if
You want to throw him in the Vets group or the young guys group that’s fine the rest of the rotation is all guys drafted in 2020 or later in fact it we top in 2020 he’s in the young guy group even though he’s 25 everybody else in the
Rotation besides the Three Vets were drafted 2020 or later Jaylen Smith maybe the last start for him of the season 17 points on six for seven from the field 13 rebounds played backup five and played it a lot with Isaiah Jackson suffering a first half concussion awesome game from jayen Smith fantastic
On both ends was a deterrent on defense did a wonderful job on offense finished plays made threes everything Jaylen Smith needs to do for the Pacers to win he did it Ben Maan one of his best games of the season I think 25 points four assists three boards hustle plays blocks
On defense steals 11 for 21 him having a really high-scoring night without having to rely on the free throws and doing it efficiently was fantastic I thought he defended pretty well in this game he was great when they needed him to be and what also depending on health could be
One of his last starts of the Season we’ll see and then Off the Bench I already talked about top in a little bit Isaiah Jackson only plays five minutes they were fine they won those by two uh and the five-point win that was important they needed to rely on two
Other guys to get a ninan rotation they had to they didn’t have enough bodies to not do it there there are 11 available bodies where all the names theyve already said and then Kendall Brown and Oscar that’s it so they had to rely on Ben Shepard and jerus Walker and they
Had to rely on them a lot Ben Shepard checked in this game in the first quarter and was immediately everywhere defensively his activity was unbelievable he was all over the floor he was running around on offense causing problems for the Kings he went two for three from Deep he missed both of his
Twos but the Pacers will take that he also had four boards and two steals seven four two and two for Ben Shepard plus 14 one of his best games ever by far his most minutes 28 minutes and 17 seconds for Ben Shepard in this game and jarus Walker following up his best game
To me he was still better in Utah than he was in the Sacramento game 15 points for jarus Walker two huge threes early in the fourth quarter for the Pacers to get them up by 16 which was crucial we’ll talk about why that cushion was crucial in a second he went three for
Eight from deep pit a long two on the very next possession two assists two boards 15 points a season and career high for jarus Walker everybody who played did important stuff for the Pacers and to win this game without n Smith without nard without tiak without halberton
Which I will use as a headline just for funz as without four starters against a perfectly healthy no injury report Kings team is unreal they did get lucky in this way right the King shot pretty well 40% from Deep the Pacers were right on their butts right they were even there
Two-pointers sort of even Pacers were better free throw line the Pacers made three less we’ll get back to free throws the rebounding battle 3735 pretty close turnovers 12 to 11 pretty close fouls 20 to 20 pretty close all the stuff that could be like a headlining story of what
Separated these teams favors no one but I skipped over something kind of intentionally to get back to it 15 to 18 was the free throws the Kings made 18 but the Kings took 32 and the Pacers took 19 that is unbelievable the kings were awful from the charity stripe and
It cost them this game they would have won if they even made 24 25 that’s only 75% shooting from the charity strip but the Pacers took advantage they shot it well and all their guys played well and even a lot of the fouls were smart fouls
Right it’s not like it was dumb fouls and the Kings couldn’t take advantage so Pacers play awesome on the road and get a key win the game Flow was hilarious right because I just said it sound you know I’ll step on my own toes Pacers control the whole game you know end of
The first quarter through the fourth they’re ahead the whole time they were winning early they only were behind for three to four minutes of the whole game right that sounds like a dominant win and it was and they were up 16 with two minutes to
Go two minutes on the clock the score in this NBA basketball game was let me make sure I get this right two minutes to go on the clock the Pacers LED one 22 to 106 then Kevin hurder hit a three then Keegan Murray dunked it then Keegan
Murray had a put back layup and now there’s 141 to go in the game and the Pacers are only up nine those was a that was a comically quick SE Keegan Murray got two steals in that stretch for the Pacers 16-point lead with 220 to go to
Very very quickly towi away no problem they’re still up nine there’s only 100 seconds left in the game all you got to do is score probably one more time and no win well we’ll get to that one more time don’t you worry uh Miles Turner misses a three Keegan Murray gets a
Board Ben Maan fouls him four seconds later Sab bonis makes both free throws now there’s a minute 15 to go so basically in under a minute the Kings cut a 16-point lead to seven have a ton of momentum and here here’s how they did this they were pressing and it was a
Really good press and they were trapping and it was good traps and McConnell is a steady hand good point guard can get out of that stuff the rest of the Pacers are young guys who aren’t used to that who aren’t used to having to pass out Ben
Maan got stuck in the corner jarus Walker turned it over twice I think actually know even McConnell is not infallible in these moments budy heal I think had a turnover late like they struggled so much with the pressure the Kings team was putting on them and it it
Was the best ball handling lineup they had available right it wasn’t that I mean I don’t know what they could have done differently besides just be better against the Press but they couldn’t break it down for a very long time so R Carlile calls the timeout they’re up
Seven and maen misses a layup with under a minute to go Darren Fox races down in scores in six seconds I feel dumb doing play byplay but I just need to set the scene for you it’s a five-point game they don’t the Kings don’t even have to
Play the foul game to win and then they do the dumbest thing that did the whole game and Kevin herder fouled 90 feet from the rim one second after Daren Fox’s make which was significant to me because if you listened earlier I said Pacers needed one more basket to win
They had 122 at the time buddy heal it’s both free throws and that was significant because eight seconds later Daren Fox hits the layup jarus Walker immediately turns it over Kevin herder gets layup it’s a three-point game with 30 seconds to go not only do the kings
Not have to foul they’re going to have a chance to tie this game or at least take the lead so the Pacers come in McConnell has a layup at the basket with 14 seconds to go misses it Darren Fox misses a three and the C the Pacers
Excuse me are lucky that he missed that three because they were not prepared to foul even though they should have up three late um kings called timeout with five seconds left Pacers do foul Malik monk fortunately for the Pacers misses the first one misses the second on
Purpose and Jaylen Smith IES it at the foul line up 16 with two minutes to go down to up three and the Kings had a chance to tie that shows you how young and inexperienced his pzer team was they could not break a press or trap late in
The game and that level of experience was enough for them to win what a win what an impressive win what a fun win for the Pacers they might lose in Portland tomorrow it’s a tough back toback they’re going to be potentially integrating a new player I’m not certain
On that yet maybe halberton will be back I don’t know he was questionable for this game there’s a lot up in the air still with all that but for players of that experience level to be able to pull this off so impressive for the Pacers so meaningful to get any win without tyres
Howton now 24 and 17 two more games this road trip what a win a fun fun time for the Pacers credit to jarus Walker for one of his best games ever some will say it was his best game ever I will put it second personally maybe Ben Shepard’s
Best game ever including the defense Jaylen Smith was fantastic a lot of guys were huge and it was massive for the Pacers who are now 24 and 17 let’s talk more about one pascal cakam 24 wins at the halfway point for the Pacers and now they’ve got new reinforcements coming in

A wakeup loss for them similar to the Pacers four game skid in late December that dropped them to 500 they breed a ton of free throws that’s been a question for the Kings All Season they’re last in the league in that percentage but this loss did remind me a
Little bit of the Pacers just deflating defeat against the Clippers that kind of turned their season around by accident Matt George down Kings be a good listen for you after this show where we’re talking more about Pascal seaka we speculated on this yesterday and I think it’s important to discuss this first the
Most maybe important part of the trade for the Pacers can they keep them what will it take Pascal cakam well we got a lot of reporting about that uh in recent days some from Sam Amic some from W and let’s start with WJ uh who said on Sports Center last night with Kevin
Nandhi first of all w we talked about this yesterday Derek and I did tweeted earlier that quote Pascal sakam is excited about the deal with the Pacers and expected to be eager to work out a new contract with the franchise this summer that’s of course good news if
You’re the Pacers then on TV with Kevin nandhi uh WJ stating the confidence Indiana has they can resign Pascal seak to an extension this summer is something he discussed he was talking about why the Pacers made the trade then he said Sak has talked through this process with
Ty Halbert and the Pacers know how much he wanted to play in Indiana that is of course huge news for the Pacers right to know that they have that behind them seak wanted to play with them apparently he really liked the idea of being paired with Miles Turner uh which I think is
Fascinating uh so huge deal for the Pacers to be able to uh potentially resign him Mark Stein reported today in his newsletter rival teams are already operating under the belief that sakam is a lock to resign with the Pacers this summer Sam AMC had more on the trade as well in the athletic
Today he’s been all over this he’s in Sacramento as well um and Sam amic’s line was there was instant talk about the high likelihood of sakam reigning in Indiana this summer with his looming free agency uh and Prospect of him being a rental not nearly as much of a concern
For these Pacers so the big buzz thing of course beyond the price wiiz can the Pacers keep him it sounds like they’re pretty confident they can so that’s question one you check that box but then question two is at what price his max is 30% of the cap that could be
Up to like 45 million depending on what the cap is is it going to take five years to keep Pascal seak if it’s five years does the average in value go down that’s stuff we don’t know siakam’s introductory pressure could be revealing how he plays with the Pacers could be
Revealing we don’t have any of that information yet I think a full five-year Max would be too much but if it means you keep a star in Indiana I think they might have to do it either way I think it’s very noteworthy to have all kinds of reporting on that front on Pascal
Zakum that’s all very positive if you’re the Pacers if you can keep him next to tyres Halbert and build from there you have to feel good about having for sure Tyrese Halburn for the next five seasons in and that doesn’t include the rest of this one so that is great news for the
Pacers I think I think that is the assumption that I had anyway um but now hearing it from League insiders I think does put a little more oomph behind that sort of thinking that again they probably wouldn’t have done this trade with this much confidence if they didn’t
Feel good about keeping seaka part two that I wanted to talk about I did allude to this a little bit yesterday um the Pacers picks that they traded in the deal all are protected uh and now we have more details on that um so the 2024 Pacers first their own first
Is protected for selections one through three as it stands after the Kings game let’s go check tanon I think that pick will be 20th now that is correct that pick is now 20th and it is half a game away from being 22nd um as protected one through three so if the Pacers somehow
Win the lottery or win any the top three they would keep it if not it goes to the Raptors if the Pacers keep it somehow two second rounders in 2024 uh excuse me two second rounders would go to the Raptors instead one in 2024 one in 2025 then the others the
Second first rounder the Pacers sent to the Raptors was that OKC first rounder they got on draft night last year currently that would be the Thunders first and currently that’s pick 28 Thunder won tonight and that moved up 228 the third pick is the 2026 Pacers first rounder protected for the lottery
Top winnings one through four if the Pacers keep that pick then it becomes a 2027 first round of protected one through four and if somehow the Pacers are in the top four two years in a row the Raptors would get 2027 and 2028 first round or excuse me second
Round picks I believe that Bobby marks had that they would be Utah and Dallas’s picks that the Pacers acquired in other trades not even their own seconds which is uh significant for the Pacers so that is all the housekeeping stuff I believe from the trade it’s now done Bruce Brown
Played for the Raptors on Thursday night had a very nice game was actually a key part of them almost beating the Chicago Bulls Jordan War Kyro Lewis did not play in that game but that’s how you know the trade is across the goal line physicals are done Pascal seaka worked out in the
Pacers facilities saw videos of that on the ble Sports Broadcast uh tons of pictures of him of course Landing in India and then the reporting is that he will be joining the Pacers in Portland either uh tonight air quotes being Friday morning technically at like 2 am or
Whatever uh eastern time I don’t know exactly when he took off or when he would have joined the team but that is when it has been suggested that he will be joining the Pacers will he play Friday night I guess he could if Bruce Brown’s already playing maybe the Pacers
Feel comfortable playing him especially if they are banged up we don’t know that but I think it’s safer to say he would play uh than not that but that is just a guess will he play will tyres halberton play who is questionable on Thursday which is crazy that is all to be
Determined but could be quite the fun night for the Pacers in Portland on Friday a couple more things I want to talk about with regards to the SE yakum trade that’s the financials one of the biggest downsides for the Pacers they’re looming interesting financial situation I want to write about this but the
Luxury tax going to be something you hear talked about a lot for the Pacers next season let’s talk about why should it even matter what the Pacers do from here before we cover any of that though we’re going to talk about the lovely people over at prize picks the largest daily
Fantasy sports platform in North America where you just pick more than or less than on two to six players to have projections and watch the winnings roll in for example Steph Curry more than or less than 29 Points or niik OIC for more than or less than 10 rebounds I don’t
Know if those are the exact lines tomorrow for prize picks but that is a gist of what you are doing for two to six players every night they have their favorite players you can play alongside of like Meek Mill and Andrew scholes the comedian on their Community Place tab
You can see what they’re doing and see what you want to do you can combine sports like basketball and football with LeBron James and Travis Kelce had a combo of 10 and a half three-pointers made plus receptions tons of fun ways to play on prize picks and it’s the most
Fun many have had playing fantasy basketball you can up to 25 times your money so go check out primes piix go to prix.com lockon NBA and use the code locked on NBA for a first deposit match up to $100 again that is prize pick.com lockdown NBA with the code lockdown NBA for a
$100 first deposit match at prize picks daily fantasy sports Made Easy back here on lockdown Pacers thanks for making us your first listen today and every single day for your second listen check out lockon Raptors here what Sean Woodley has to say about the new guys and their debut for Toronto and
Speaking of lockon raptors Sean and I are going to collaborate I’m going to do seven episodes this week see yakum trade plus games makes it worth it uh Sean and I are going to collaborate on a show tomorrow talking SE yakum on the Pacers and Bruce Brown and Jordan War and the
Whole trade and everything and where this could go for both franchises blackdown Raptors will have more if you want to hear that side of the trade this is the looming interesting thing that I am curious about from a Pacers perspective just bear with me we got to
Say some numbers math is not very fun I’ll try to make it easy mental math as we go let’s just talk about eight players very quickly okay the salary camp at its absolute Apex next season is 149.6 million and the luxury tax if that is the case would be
181.fm hard Aaron n Smith Tyres alurn jarus Walker Benedict maen and Miles Turner that is eight players why am I talking about those eight players because those are the eight players who have a for sure guaranteed contract with the Pacers next year they’re not expiring there’s no re there’s no
Options they are just a guaranteed contract on the Pacers books for next season tyres halbert’s deal could come in at any number of numbers but its absolute Max is 45 million let’s say let’s just use 40 for the of this exercise okay that is already about $95
Million of salary I just named you among those eight players no noted I did not say Pascal sakam I did not say buddy heeld I did not say Obi toppen Jaylen Smith has a player option that is outside the Pacers control if he opts in add five million to that 95 Million
Number and you’re over 100 million T.J McConnell has a partially guaranteed contract at five million at least if he’s cut 9.3 million if they keep him I’d imagine he’s worth more than 4.3 million in savings but let’s just say he’s waved at another 5 million and now
You’re at over 105 million and you have not accounted or Pascal seak buddy heeld or Obi toppin still so for the Pacers to have what I just described they would have eight players under contract and at most 44 million in cap space before resigning anybody and with only having
Eight players now let me stop you right there before you say can’t they sign somebody and resign yakum no because to keep siakam’s bird rights they have to keep his cap hold on the books that’s as dorky as I’ll get but his cap hold’s huge it’s 57 million
Dolls if you cut that cap hold you lose his bird rights and you can’t sign him over the cap you’d have to use cap space so they can’t do both so they’re going to keep his cap hold it’s just $57 million so they won’t have cap space
Next summer right so rule that out so let’s keep adding up numbers now now let’s say they resigned seum even on a friendly deal $40 million per season right 40 million in the first year would get the Pacers to 145 that’s already at the salary cap remember T.J McConnell
Jaylen Smith buddy heeld Obby tapa not on the team we can keep going let’s say they resigned buddy heal at his same salary as now basically 20 million add another 20 million now they’re at60 million then Obi toppin let’s just say 10 million per year in the first
Year right now that’s $170 million still know Jaylen Smith and if they keep McConnell you get where I’m going with this the Pacers are going to be close to that luxury tax next season and that is with conservative halberton numbers conservative potentially Pascal sakam numbers buddy hee not getting a raise
And Jones Smith being gone and T.J McConnell being gone and maybe a conservative I’ll be top a number you get the idea of what I’m saying they might need to cut money at some point between now and the end of next season remember you don’t pay the tax unless
You’re over the tax by the end of the season this isn’t an imminent problem for the Pacers they haven’t even resigned seak or heeld or toppen they don’t know what their team’s going to look like next season but I just say all that to say the very current group that
Pacers have might be hard to keep together next year now one important caveat in the new CBA the luxury tax if you’re barely over it is way less restrictive right you’re not paying nearly as much per dollar spent over the tax as you used to until you get to I
Believe 10 million over so maybe the Pacers just don’t care but what I would say is if you’re close to the luy tax line every team tries to get under it so one part of the seak trade that I think is under discussed is it might might and
I prob I would probably lean towards will cause the Pacers to have to make a financial decision somewhere I don’t know what that is could it be not retaining Obi toppen could it be they have to move on from some young bigs Isaiah Jackson’s 4.4 million or Jaylen
Smiths whatever could it be that T.J McConnell gets moved this season so that money’s completely gone next year right there’s a lot of ways this could go and it could be solved if sakam makes less than I said or if Buddy heeld makes less than I said or if toppen does too but
Without the assurances of those things do not be surprised if you start to hear things about the Pacers and cost related trades or if you see something that looks funky like XYZ team is interested in Obi toppen or buddy heeld or whatever Pacers front Court player don’t just
Immediately write it off because the Pacers might have to start thinking about those things within the next calendar year they could figure it out in the summer they could figure it out next trade deadline but all of that to say I think that this is an important
Part of this trade is the luxury tax next year is going to potentially be something that matters to the Pacers and the cap and tax could be less right if it’s smaller if the cap doesn’t grow as much because there’s not as much RSN money or the playoffs or a d or whatever
There’s a million reasons that it could or could not change and maybe Halbert doesn’t make all NBA for example and then his salary would not be the the 30% Max should only be 25 there’s a lot of ways it could be less and because there’s a lot of ways it could be less
Than the tax maybe they don’t care about it right now but as they approach the deadline and think about what the Pacers still have to do and how they want to face their team next year just keep that in mind that the Pacers might have to think about the luxury tax next season
And if you can get good assets for stuff now to get ahead of it maybe you consider doing that just maybe but getting Pascal yakum totally worth it totally totally worth it obviously especially because you can get Assets in value for the guys that you might have
To think about their future with because of money so obviously a worth a trade looking forward to seeing him suit up and play for the Pacers but to tie up a loose end on this Pascal siakam’s trade Pacers are going to be awesome now on offense especially but they might still
Have to think about their future and future moves especially with the financials coming in for this team well plenty more sakam stuff to come again Sean Woodley and I are going to talk all about the trade tomorrow he covers the Raptors I of course cover the Pacers so
We’ll have plenty on both on all the players moved excuse me on their new teams what they could do all sorts of that stuff and then I think I’ll do a Sunday show about the Blazers game uh if seak plays a whole segment or two on
What he looked like that’s also we’re at the halfway point maybe I’ll do something on that and I finally finished the Hawks and Nuggets games from last weekend I would like to talk about those although they’re almost a week away now but I like to cover every game so we’ll
See what feels like the right thing this weekend but you’ll get a lot more locked on Pacers than normal this week because they just made one of the biggest trades in franchise history got to cover the moment as it is so thank you all a ton for listening today I hope you learned
Something and have thought about the Pacers future and are very impressed with the win that they had on Thursday night it was fantastic a lot of guys stepped up and showed that hey maybe they can be a key part of the Pacers going forward we will learn more as they

Which player impressed you the most in this win? Jarace Walker's early 4th Q threes and Ben Sheppard's defensive activity are standouts to me.
Mathurin with another 20 point performance. He needs to start and play a lot EVERY game.
Jalen & Obi’s efficiency
I don''t think people have any idea how important TJ is/has been for this team this season. Everything Prichard/Buchanan/Carlisle want Nembhard to be, TJ i that and then some. Pacers 100% would've lost if Andrew was running the ball tonight.
Exactly why we shouldn’t spend all that $ on Spicy 💩
Pacers were already awesome on offense without him
💨 there goes team chemistry
Pacers now 17-3 this this yr when Mathurin 15+ pts!
Pacers 6-2 this yr when Mathurin plays 30+ mins & in those 8 games averaging

Should be starting line up. If this is not the starting line up (especially with Bruce brown now who like a lot) I’ll be annoyed, but Carlisle has notoriously short leashes for certain young players (lost his job at Pistons for not playing Tayshaun Prince to a certain extent). I like Nembhard too, but he’s the definition of a good backup PG who can play combo guard as well imo. In no world should 31 year old sub par 2 way player when 3 is off Buddy Hield (granted when on one of best 3P shooters ever) start over Mathurin!
PS Jarace really impressed me tonight. I hope he makes me eat crow about being mad we didn’t draft Bilal Coulibaly (as I thought he has highest upside at that pick). This was by far his best NBA game. What would of been better? Last game when he had 8 4 4 6stocks mostly in garbage time? Eh this was clearly his most impactful.
PSS Pacers not drafting GG Jackson or TJD with any of their second round picks was 🤦🏻♂️
We need to make another trade.
The group of: Hield, Nesmith, Toppin, Smith, Jackson, Nembhard/McConnell (pick 1) 2 of those guys are just NOT going to get minutes.
These guys are too good to ride the bench and we could still use a wing/big.
They could make a big trade for a Nic Claxton, Jeremi Grant, Jarrett Allen, DeRozan, Capela, Wiggins.
Untouchables being Hali, Siakam, Benn, Jarace, Sheppard, Turner. Id like to keep Buddy too. Can never have too many shooters.
I thought Bruce Brown to Miami made sense with Lowry returning to Toronto, but the salary matching is off by ~150k and Toronto can't aggregate his salary to make up the gap. The Knicks with Fournier's expiring would work, but how many 6'4 guys that make winning plays does one roster need? Seems like Philly and OKC aren't looking to buy at the deadline. The Lakers would rather spend more on Dejounte Murray, but I guess that's a fallback option. As for the teams that don't fancy themselves contenders, they'll be stingy about a short term role player like Bruce Brown; maybe Houston thinks giving him Aaron Holiday's minutes will is the difference maker for tasting the playoffs?
Gotta keep tj
