They got two 20 uh 24 picks from the Pacers and then one protected one to four pick from the Pacers in 2026 but to get three first round picks and and a guy like Bruce Brown Jr who you can keep right now or you can flip down the road

For either a first or multiple second round picks I think that was too much to pass up the Raptors knew it was time after moving OG out newbi a couple weeks ago they knew it was time to move on from Pascal zakum they lost Fred Van vet

In free agency last summer they did not want the same thing to happen with Pascal cakam this time around and so particularly over the last few days we talked about it yesterday talks became serious between the Pacers and the Raptors the the Pacers were really motiv

To motivated to get a deal done out of all the teams that Toronto was engaged with Sacramento Dallas golden St State they made their rounds again yesterday to all those teams and the interest just wasn’t at the level that Indiana was at and to get those three picks I think was

The Difference Maker and at the end of the day Pascal cakam I think there’s a there’s a mutual interest between him and the Pacers to being their longterm any team that wanted to trade for him we talked about this yesterday they needed to know where he stood as a free agent

Would he want to be back would he signal that he would be open to coming back because no team wanted to trade for a guy like Pascal seak give up multiple picks and then have the guy walk in free agency and I’m told the Pacers are very

Confident that they’ll be able to keep SE yakum as a free agent in July they know it’ll take about a maximum level contract to be able to resign him and they’re comfortable with that and I think that was a Difference Maker and on top of that Michelle they kept all their

He’s going to want to stay there but you’re on the player side of things how do these work I mean cuz we’re on the outside looking in going man what if he doesn’t want to stay there they just gave all that away for nothing do you

Lot of good basketball being played right now you know I I on the East Eastern Conference I see eight to nine teams that are really giving themselves an opportunity to make that playoff push you know Indiana sending that seventh spot that’s pretty comfortable but I’m

Sure they want to get into to one of those guaranteed playoff spots and get underneath that seven and getting get in in between the four and the six and give themselves an opportunity you know and I think what it be what’s something that’s underrated that team can get to the

Fourth place and have an opportunity to get home court advantage Indiana is a great place to play basketball and so and um y to that mix playing fast he’s going to give them a defensive look that they probably didn’t have um before they got him that’s going to be a great

Opportunity for them to do some good things so I’m excited to watch some watch some really good basketball and see how this thing mesh up that’s gonna be Eastern Conference gonna be fun Shams all right Toronto Raptors I mean they anobi is out siakam’s now out those two

Pieces that we thought were going to move last season at some point finally have been done so we look at the Raptors what is the strategy moving forward for that organization well Toronto’s all in on Scotty Barnes he is their franchise Cornerstone he’s their Max contract guy he’s what

Everything is going to be built around moving forward he’s obviously very young uh in his third NBA season he’ll he’ll be extension eligible in the offseason so that’s their guy and everything from an age perspective around the roster players that they bring in now is going

To be all built around Scotty Barnes and um from from a positional perspective he was their main Wing obviously they’ve had Pascal seaka Oobi over the last couple Seasons with him as well but they’re all in on Scotty Barnes they have RJ Barrett they have Emanuel quickley at the guard position and now

They bring in Bruce Brown Jr and Michelle I’m very interested to see you know he’ll report to the team he’ll be there initially but this is a guy $22 million this season he has a team option for next year at $23 million the Raptors have flexibility with him either you

Keep him you can pick up his option at the end of the season and then trade him in the offseason or you can trade him now they can probably fetch on the Open Market at least one first or a boatload of second round pick so you add that

With the three first round picks that they already got they do also value Jordan noar so this is a team that’s stockpiling players uh assets whatever possible that they feel can help them long term with Scotty Barnes as their Cornerstone man Bruce Brown’s had quite

The journey in the last year year and a half what what would you do Lou by the way I mean if it I I feel like he’s a nice addition do you think he stays or do you think that’s what Shams is talking about you package him up and do something

Else they have the great they have great options right you know so if if if you keep them you know you’re getting a really good basketball player you’re giving a guy that’s going to defend playing that dunker give you a great a lot of great looks in that open court

The count of LeBron James Le Lakers team out is crazy you know when you get these kns like this from D’Angelo Russell ad is going to have big nights where you explode LeBron James is going to remind you on a number of night nights of of

Why he’s one of the best players in the league at his age still so you never can count this team out they’re always going to give themselves an opportunity and find those windows to put great games together and Shams we are at the halfway point of the Season which is hard to

Believe and they’re sitting there at 500 which we know is not going to sit well with LeBron James the urgency to do anything at the deadline doesn’t feel quite like last season but are you expecting some movement it it doesn’t feel like last season because I think from a talent

Perspective this team does have a lot already on the roster based on what they did last season but last year around this time Anthony Davis LeBron James they had missed time uh in the in the in the lineup ad especially and this year both have been fully healthy and I think

The fact that they’re fully healthy and we saw the way Anthony Davis played last night 28 points 12 rebounds nine assists he’s had five assists or more in in four of his last five games he’s shooting efficiently from the field he’s been absolutely dominant as a performer and

And the fact that they’re fully healthy right now they haven’t ran into from those two guys they haven’t ran into significant injury issues and LeBron James being 39 years old I think you have to have a level of urgency for the Lakers to seize this Championship window

That you have with with a healthy LeBron James with a healthy Anthony Davis and whether that’s a Dey Murray Zack LaVine there’s going to be a slew of guard players in the back court I think you’re going to see uh you know the Lakers look into more and more as the weeks continue

But adding another piece whether it’s on the bench whether it’s a Frontline starter caliber player I think that’s going to definitely be a focus for the Lakers Lou Dallas obviously goes in last night with the better record they come out with a loss um it happens can’t win

All of them but did you see anything that maybe would lead you to believe there’s something a little more concerning with this maveri Mavericks team as constructed no it just looked like a looked like a bad night you know you do anything 82 times in a year you’re

Probably going to do it bad a few times so that’s all I saw last night nothing glaring to me this is a regular night in the NBA the Lakers were just a better basketball team and D’Angelo Russell played out of his mind and got they got

A big win but there are certain pairings certain groupings in the NBA that we we tend to look at the most and Kyrie and Luca are at the top of that list when Luca was out KY was averaging almost 40 points over the previous three games

Last night he had 12 on four of 16 obviously the question everyone’s going to ask and those that thought this wasn’t going to work in the first place is do you still view this as a great pairing well it’s a great pairing I’m not sure if it’s gonna if it’s G to work

But I think it’s a great paing with two great guys the problem is they’re both very ball dominant and they’re both Rhythm Guys you know if you watch Kyrie highlights Kyrie needs that basketball on his hand to create Rhythm create opportunities for himself in the open

Court you know he like he’s one of the best ball handlers in the league so that’s one of his strong suits in getting to the rim and finishing and the same thing with Luca Luca is a ball dominant guard and so when these guys don’t have the ball for long stretches

At a time I think it affects the way that they’re play and so I’m still on the fence about this pairing I’m still going to call it a great paring because you can’t get you know two better guards than to have those two guys but at some

Point we got to start seeing it work consistently there was a a moment after the game Shams LeBron’s rushing to watch the end of of Bron’s game did we miss something like was it a great end tell us yeah I mean bronne played well last night from from you know an offensive

Perspective I think people around the league when when I talk to NBA people they know defensively he’s a lot more further along than offensively so I’m sure LeBron James wanted to get back into the locker room the second half of the USC game against Arizona was still

On but he had an offensive Outburst last night and Kevin Durant was in The Stance and when I talk to people around the league he’s on the draft Boards of of multiple teams and you know it is curious what if he gets drafted somewhere not in La LeBron James does

Have a player option in the summer so uh I’m sure LeBron James wanted to get to the locker room as soon as he possibly could to watch the second half my God what’s gonna happen is this going to be a circus like well Lou’s already laughing I’m already absolutely

That they’ve still been able to win these games stay competitive in the Eastern Conference clearly Donovan Mitchell is not going to be going anywhere at this deadline and as long as they keep winning get Darius Garland Evan Mobley back second half of the season this Cavs team is going to have a

Chance to continue to be competitive and maybe do some damage in the East you know what and we’ll get back to the bucks for a second since you mentioned both Garland and Moy um is it SE when can we expect that you said second half of the season is that

Happening Moy is is more indefinite and and you know they’re still trying to figure out exactly when he’s going to make his return from knee surgery but darus Garland he had a fractured jaw last month uh he is starting on court work and I I think the hope within the

Cavs is that within the next few weeks uh you know he’s able to make a return in the coming weeks and um you know they need Garland back they need to get him and Donan Mitchell continue to get them reps in the back court together because these two guys still haven’t had two

Full seasons of playing next to each other we know we talked about the Luca donic Kyrie Irving paing guys that need the ball in their hands I think the Cavaliers have felt that darus Garland Domin Mitchell can play well off each other so getting Garland back in the

Lineup here hopefully for them in the coming weeks is going to be important back to the Bucks Lou you know we have the Dame time moment fresh in our minds but we can’t just look at that because January specifically for Daman Lillard hasn’t been the most beautiful

Mentioning going into All-Star break that’s when you’re going to see some of the best basketball being played you know teams are going to start trying to get that chemistry going into the break so when they come out they can feel good about where they are as a team and I

Think Cleveland that’s been a point of emphasis for them and what they’ve been they’ve been able to do in the month of January going into that break into February and they’re going to give themselves an opportunity to do something really great if they can continue to be healthy and get those

Guys back from from being injured as well they’re getting a lot of good production from a lot of good guys and so I think this story is more about Cleveland than it is about Milwaukee this is just a great game for them and Aaron the run so you get them guys

Credit which is why asking the next question is kind of weird to me but it it’s there and it lingers but it’s the Donovan Mitchell of it all I mean the trade rumors are sort of around him sometimes they’re a little more quiet than other times uh if if you’re

Cavaliers moving forward and so I think they should evaluate what’s going on after the season let’s see what they get accomplish in the postseason and then we figure it out from there well what a segue because we’ve got one guy that’s always got trade rumors surrounding him

After you know kind of a Down year last year you’re in and out of the rotation what was the biggest change for you uh you know this offseason going into the season to make this jump you know I didn’t really change much in terms of my my preparation um

From like a physical standpoint you know off season has always been you know I’ve always try to be like a regimented guy I think the biggest shift was just in a perspective and an approach um you know as you know so much of of you know experiencing success at this level is

Between the ears and really just kind of coming into this year uh first off with a level of freedom and and just kind of being able to be out there and be myself um but then also really trying to assert myself from you know that that confidence standpoint as well so I think

That’s made a big big difference for me and speaking of that freedom last night seven dimes is this this you’re going deep in your bag we’re looking at point guard dunking here or is this just something with more opportunity that you’re getting more comfortable doing uh a little bit I mean some of

The game is is a strength of mind so you know this year being a little bit less just obsessed with like how do I get threes off I feel like I’ve been able to be a little bit more of a a basketball player and do some different things

Been in the league for such a long time NBA champion all NBA Allstar like all that stuff he’s done everything there is to do so uh to have that guy you know sitting next to you on playing and be able to kick some things off you more

Often than not it’s it’s not talking about basketball to be honest are you are you and Caleb you is Tonk or buay that’s still the that’s still the the game I stay out of that participating smart there’s a lot of a lot of Spades that get gets played on

So I think a com combination of the fact that it was on him and he was involved in the play and then also I think there was just a general surprise that I I was able to score in a a way that wasn’t shooting a three so um yeah I mean

That’s that’s probably is about as viral I guess uh as you want to say uh or as I’ve gotten in my career phone was definitely blown up after that which is fun but um at the same time it’s also like I mean it’s pretty basic Tribble

Move um a virin a of the Smitty but I guess because it was it was against him got some everyone’s watching now every single move Duncan your teammate Jimmy Butler we know he can be pretty intense uh he’s he’s one of the game’s greatest competitors get one of the game’s

Greatest trash talkers what makes his trash talk I guess his competitiv competitiveness so unique so different than than other players I think he really picks his spots I think that he’ll go through stretches of the game um where he’s just kind of like feeling it out and he’s

Very calculated in his approach in in terms of when he wants to engage and when he wants to go there and when he does choose to go there it’s full force and it’s with a certain level of conviction that I don’t know that I’ve I’ve ever seen um and it also raises his

Level from a competitive standpoint um and an actual like play play style standpoint so whenever as a team we kind of feel like he’s going there we we know it’s a good sign for us okay I’m glad you brought that up cuz a few years ago

You were on the receiving end um let’s take a listen uh I mean yeah I played with some pretty smart players before I think Duncan’s like the the dumbest one out of all of them but um no we we we’ve had some smart guys I’ve been around some

Really you know Hall of Famers really great players but definitely helps whenever you got guys that are um extremely smart and know the game except for Duncan he dumb all right Jimmy thank you D you dumb he dumb he dumb that is such he loves you that’s fun right yeah

Yet you know Carla and darl myy are actually unbelievable ping pong play how does one become so good at pingpong like how’s that is that common to like in the house growing up maybe or something I went to boarding school for a year um and when you’re at boarding school

The like middle of the second quarter and because of foul trouble and stuff and was asked to guard him and it it got ugly for me pretty quickly um he’s just it still is but particularly at that point you know so Dynamic so fast and I

Think the big thing with him was just his his aggression and his mindset at that point to just go out there and try to score 30 35 every night um so that was a that was an ugly stretch and quickly got taken out and and didn’t
