[Windhorst/Real GM] “I can’t speak to what the Nets are thinking at this very second, but the word through the NBA is the Nets are attempting to be buyers,” said Brian Windhorst on Friday’s episode of The Hoop Collective.

> Since the Brooklyn Nets rested a number of their players in a 144-122 loss at home to the Milwaukee Bucks on December 27th, they have posted a 1-8 record. The Nets are one game out of the play-in behind the Atlanta Hawks, but many around the NBA expect them to continue to compete for a shot at the postseason.

> “I can’t speak to what the Nets are thinking at this very second, but the word through the NBA is the Nets are attempting to be buyers,” said Brian Windhorst on Friday’s episode of The Hoop Collective.

> The podcast conversation was centered on whether the Nets should look to pick up some future draft capital for a player like Dorian Finney-Smith, who holds value around the league.

> The Nets do not control their first round pick this season as it will be sent to the Houston Rockets as part of the 2021 James Harden trade, which disincentivizes them from taking a step back.

> Brooklyn already has a number of incoming future picks from the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks as part of their trades last season of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

    Welp.

A day ago, there was an (albeit, taken down) post that said they were sellers.

This afternoon, some asshole posted that Diwniddie is on strike, which naturally meant that the organization is at fault, and all of the players don’t want to play here /s

And now, Windhorst says they are buyers.

Translation – No one knows shit. Marks keeps everything close to the chest.

    Let it play out.

First we are sellers now we are buyers.

If Vaughn isn’t being fired then we need to be sellers, period.

I don’t know if this is an unpopular take but I don’t think the difference in what this team can do in the next 1-2 years is all that different if we are considered “buyers” or “sellers” at this deadline. There are not going to be major moves made in either direction to the point that the near future of the team is all that different. We’re just in one of those spots.

I’m fine with being buyers if the being buyers is like Murray. Or getting Tyus Jones for cheap.

But if being buyers is like a Lavine swing. I’m done lol.

Just do something. I’ve literally never been more apathetic towards this team.

Don’t care if we r buyers or sellers. Just hope we do something. And by something I hope it’s known the direction we r going in.

this team will forever be in purgatory as long as Joe Tsai is the owner

Echoing what others have been posting and saying. I really fucking hate being a Nets fan this year. No identity no direction just aimlessly going through the motions, losing close games, and Ben Simmons health updates. Fuck this season it’s really depressing

  9. How about buying a new coach. JV isn’t taking any group of players to the level needed to make it in the NBA.
