The Toronto Raptors Are Playing Chess While Everyone Else Is Playing Checkers!

Has Messiah yuiri seriously done it again this guy can’t stop winning the Toronto Raptors general manager just orchestrated his second blockbuster trade this month by sending Pascal siakam’s expiring contract to the Indiana Pacers for Championship glue guy Bruce Brown three-point sniper Jordan NOA and three first round picks oh yeah

He also pulled the New Orleans Pelicans into the and stole former lottery pick Kyra Lewis Jr so combining the Pascal trade with the OG an anobi trade to the Knicks from a few weeks ago the Raptors have flipped two guys that they weren’t going to resign in free agency anyway to

Well just look at this list uh yeah I think I’d be smiling too welcome everybody my name is Troy and this is the half court report be sure you click that Thumbs Up Button And subscribe for some of the best NBA content that you’re going to find on

YouTube it’s the end of an era in Toronto with Pascal cakam heading to Indiana that leaves Chris bue as the last man standing from the 2019 Championship Squad so with cakam now gone the direction that we saw forming for a while has been officially cemented for this Raptor’s team that means Scotty

Barnes you are the man this is your squad and the youth movement has taken over the first question to consider is whether the Toronto Raptors can still get into the playoffs without seaka they’ve already brought in RJ Barrett and Emanuel quickley this season in that niick trade so the roster reshaping has

Been going on for a little bit of time now but how does losing SE yakum and bringing in Bruce Brown helped Toronto stay competitive enough to make a run to the playoffs and for that matter is it even in the Raptor’s best interest to try and win should they just go ahead

And tank to get a top draft pick instead so let’s look at all that in my opinion it’s preferable for the Raptors to now pivot to flipping Bruce Brown for more assets to add to the young guys Brown was a huge piece of Denver’s Championship run last season and he will

Have a number of suitors from contending teams willing to offer a young player and a pick for his play and Championship experience Brown is a rugged Defender that can guard one through four then add in his three-point shot the guy can fit into most any team he can also playmake

A little bit he showed in the NBA Finals that he isn’t afraid of the big moments add all that together I would look for a trade of Bruce Brown to happen before the trade deadline in February regardless though he has a nice trade ship for Messi to dangle out there and

And in today’s NBA where teams hoard draft picks like Scrooge McDuck hoarding his gold coins the Raptors get to add to their coffers with two first round picks in 2024 one is coming from Indiana so that’ll look to land somewhere around pick number 20 the other will be the

Worst pick among Utah the Clippers Houston and Oklahoma City you can expect that to be somewhere in the 25 to 30 range so those are all very usable trade chips for side or he could decide to find a cost effective young guy to add to the roster then the third first round

Pick is another Indiana pick that can be conveyed in 2026 fortunately the Raptors have drafted exceedingly well in the late first round with Messiah at the helm between 2015 and 2017 they were able to land Delon Wright at number 20 Pascal at number 27 and OG at number 23

Let’s just not talk about Malachi Flynn and in 2020 but hey po Bud’s nerfing overall though their track record in that area of the draft is strong enough to suggest that they will at least hit on one or two of those picks this most recent trade could also make the Raptors

Bad enough to where they won’t have to convey a lottery pick to the Spurs from last year’s yakob purle trade so that could be three first round picks in the upcoming draft so to sum it all up losing a player like Pascal cakam definitely hurts particularly when you

Know that you’re not getting a better player back just yet but this is a step that the Raptors had to take for the long-term betterment of the team the current makeup of this team was not working Scotty Barnes has shown so far that he has star potential and at only

22 years old his timeline did not line up with Pascal who is almost 30 so this is a great return for cakam giving his free agency status and his potential to bolt to another team this off season guys that’s what I think but let me know

In the comments what do you think about what messiri has been doing for the Raptors and what is your outlook for this team for the remainder of this year since you’ve watched this far be sure to drop a like for the YouTube algorithm hit that subscribe button too so you

  1. Masai doesnt want to tank so doubt theyll get 3 first rounds this year but like you mentioned, the organization is good at developing talent so we should expect at least 1 of those picks to be a longtime starter for the team with the other two being a combination of a role player to a "bust". They have a few other assets that they could move to quickly retool but tanking isnt a good way to develop a winning culture for an organization and im glad Masai is doing what he can to minimize that. No one likes watching bad baseketball.

  2. I heard some on social media, saying Indiana won the trade getting Siakam and second from the Pelicans, without giving up any of their young assets, on appearances that maybe true for now, let revisit in a few years. In an age where Artificial intelligence( AI) is dominance on the internet upon us, everybody want instant coffee ☕️, they don't appreciate the flavors of a slowly, hand roasted grounded bean.Masai is the same dude that made Denver a NBA champion last season, for when he was GM in that organization, traded a disgruntled Carmelo Anthony out of Denver to the New York Knicks for players and picks, some of those picks became Jamal Murray and later they selected Nikola Jokic as a second round. Ujiri didn't draft Jamal or Jokic personally as left Denver for Toronto, but assets got became 2023 NBA Western Conference Finals & NBA champions 🏆.

  3. I get that Toronto is a terrible NBA market for attracting talent, and they did get one title, but they're treading water with these trades. They're not some sort of extremely well run franchise. Their only successful season in history has come from renting 2 established all-stars for a season. These moves are fine and all, but this team is going to miss play-in and all they have is the ability to over pay Quickley, an over paid Barrett, and a good young player in Barnes. They're going to have a bunch of late first rounders in a weak draft, so one of those guys will probably turn into a rotation player, but optimism about this team is ridiculous. They're a bad team in a bad market, and if everything goes right for them they are 3 years away from winning a playoff series. They found some diamonds in the rough with Siakam and VanVleet, and it turned into some early round playoff losses and 3 picks in the 20's. OG nets them a project player in Barrett who's probably a negative asset, and Quickley's bird rights, which is probably worthless because he probably isn't worth a max. That's not success, that's mid. At least they didn't get 0, but it's crazy to act like this team is coming out of this well. They're going to be a bottom 5 team for at least 2 years, and will be lucky if any of the players they got in return will be assets 2 years from now.

  4. It's not what Ujiri got this season for Pascal or OG.. but how we could have gotten much much more if Ujiri just wasn't so stubborn to holding onto Pascal, BumVleet and OG.. then lets not forget trading a first round pick for Jakob. All so we could make the play in last season then embarrassingly loose to the Bulls. I like Ujiri.. but the last two seasons he hasn't done good.

  5. And don’t forget, Schroeder is a nice potential plug and play trade piece for some team making a playoff run.

  6. The Pacers are playing chess as they kept all their best young prospects… then got Siakam for Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, Kira Lewis and 3 late FRPs. The Raps gave up a potential top 10 Lottery pick for Poeltl who was a UFA just like Siakam. Now the Raptors are a very small team (even with Poeltl) across the board, while they used to be one one the longest teams roster wise in the NBA. All it takes is one SB injury and this roster can blow up with the quickness. Hope Masai has some more moves because this roster as is won't make it out of the Lottery for seasons to come.

  7. No team would ever win a championship with Siakam as the main guy. Sorry, not gonna happen. He's a great second, sure. But he's shown year after year that he can't be THE guy. It was a no brainer to trade him while he had great value.

  8. No way man keep brown this starting lineup is only 80 mil this year 100 mil next year.

    Quickley 5mil
    Brown 23mil
    Barrett 25mil
    Barnes 9mil
    Yak 19mil

U don't think Massi can round out a bench mob 2.0 for that left over to spend and give Scotty a good team

  9. Ujiri will draft Ulrich Chomche out of the African academy as his man in the middle moving forward and he now has money to buy a key free agent. He did wait too long to trade pascal, he lets his personal feelings get in the way

  10. No one is talking about the roster meant moving Koloko to waivers. Again, we're without a true center with Jacob out injured. 2024 picks are not desirable since this draft class is said to be weak. Do you think they are looking to draft Edie out of Purdue?

  11. Great video. Good points on the trade. Scottie will be the face of the league. He is young, energetic, funny and very gen Z. He wll be the next superstar.

  12. This is a lesson for my Warriors: trade the ineffective veterans for young players via players on the roster, draft or a combination of them.

  13. Toronto is trading players for "pennies on the dollar" and they're playing chess? The Pacers fleeced them. Good luck finding another Pascal Siakam with any of those late-in-the-first-round draft picks you got from Indiana. Getting him with the #27 pick in the 2016 draft was LUCK. Likely won't happen again.
