Ian Begley on the Knicks’ interest in Bruce Brown after win over the Rockets | SportsNite | SNY

Time now to go inside out with SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley who joins us from the garden and Ian Julius Randle was not at his best in the last two games before this one shooting 36% from the field, but Wednesday, it was back to normal as he was 11 of 18.

How does having Jalen Brunson back on the court make things easier for Randall? Yeah, I think it’s everything for Julius. It’s funny. He was joking after the game that he told Jalen to get back on the court earlier today. He wanted him back because what happens

Is Brunson has the ball in his hands, right and he attracts attention from the defense and not only creates open looks for Randall, but it also takes away the responsibility for him to handle the ball to initiate offense. So I think with a bone

Brunton’s hands, you know, Randall I think is a little bit looser. He started to make shots early against Houston and They have to take on that role again of initiating the offense possession after possession. So having Jalen there was everything for him. And I think I’ll have the

Other Knicks on this roster to Ian good job cleaning up that quote from Randall about wanting Brunson back on the court. That’s what makes you the true Pro that you are. All right, Isaiah heart and Stein logs 41 minutes and this one playing the entire second half how sustainable is that

It’s probably not that sustainable but I think what is sustainable is what hardened shine has brought really since mr. Robinson went down. He’s been fantastic rebounding the ball particularly on the offensive glass defending the rim and really bringing a different element on

Offense for this Nick team. His passing has really been a boost to their offense and I think with the Knicks now, you know, they haven’t gotten a ton from precious. Achoo. I think they’ll keep an eye out on the trade market as far as other backup

Biggs who might become Elbow, but they’re also optimistic that Mitchell Robinson will be back late in the regular season. So I don’t think they would spend significant trade Capital to bring in another back up big here after Monday’s lossy. And you spoke about the Knicks glaring

Need to add depth to trade deadline isn’t until February 8th. But how would you describe the Knicks sense of urgency now to make a move? Yeah, I think this is the time of year where everybody gets on the phone and tries to figure things out and it’s a little

More urgent than it was saying mid-December, but for the Knicks, I don’t think they’re necessarily in a rush to get something done tomorrow one interesting thing. I heard today in the wake of Bruce Brown getting sent it to Ron 04 Pascal siakam. I was told that there is

Some internal interest in going after Bruce Brown from the Knicks as far as a trade candidate here. And obviously the Knicks had strong interest in brown as a free agent. The next were actually his first meeting and so now ground going to Toronto. He might be available

And I know there are some people with the Knicks that would love to bring him on ahead of the trade deadline something to keep an eye on Nick’s right back at it on Thursday against the Wizards Ian Begley. Thanks for joining us here on Honda Sports night.

  1. Disappointing news, hopefully we aren't really looking for another 6'4" SG. Seems like we have that base covered.

  2. Salutes!
Nothing like starting with a ridiculous question – c'mon guys! Not excited on hearing about Brown – another Josh Hart we don't need. Thibs meddling?

  3. Wouldn’t that be like adding another Josh Hart? Knicks have bigger issues to address in a backup at the 4 for Julius & IHart🤔. Also need a consistent 3rd scorer to go with Brunson & Randle

  4. I think they're just considering it as an option and not a priority. We don't want Fournier to ride the bench another year if we pick up his option so might as well get a useful piece with the same contract money and years. Then we can eventually trade Brown or JHart.

  5. That’s disappointing honestly , I don’t know why we need to trade for Bruce Brown when he literally does the same thing Josh Hart does , Knicks have bigger issues to address at the 4 spot than trading for a player that’s already does the same thing

  6. Brown is a good player who will give you 25 quality minutes doing everything well except 3 point shooting. He can guard 1 through 4 so is a very handy guy to have around. His contract was too rich for the Knicks this off season but if he replaces Fournier it is nearly a wash this season and next year his salary can be used in a big trade instead of picking up Fournier's option solely for that purpose. If you look at it this way it makes sense although it won't solve all their problems.

  7. There’s a lot contradicting reports out there. How are we shopping Grimes but also interested in Bruce Brown? I wouldn’t include Grimes in any trade that doesn’t involve Dejounte Murray. Maybe Brogdon if that means we don’t have to give up a first round pick

  8. I actually like this Bruce Brown. If acquired by the Knicks there will be 3 players that has championship experience and they can fire up the locker room with winning attitude.

  9. No we don't need Bruce Brown… We still need more shooting especially off the bench. We need someone to spell Brunson from PG duties at times. We need someone who can break you down off the dribble and get their own shot. The biggest problem for this team is on the offensive end with the lack of creativity at the guard spot. There is only one guy on the entire team who you can give the ball to and say " get us a bucket " that is Brunson. Randle has his moments with his bully ball but thats just pounding it in. But if you look at the top teams in the NBA they each have two or three players they can give the ball to and say " get me a bucket " while we only have Brunson. Boston, Bucks, Cleveland, Heat, Philly, Pacers, Timberwolves, Thunder, Nuggets, Clippers, Suns, Kings, Mavericks, Pelicans. Each one of those teams have more than one guy that can get their own bucket and they are all better than us. It does not have to be a star, it could have been a player like Malik Monk. He's not a star, but you can give him the ball and say get me a basket. Ok rant over.. one more thing, I think they should sign Murray.

  10. We need a third primary scorer. When one of the two stars have an off-day or in the postseason when one of them is getting double-teamed we need a third scorer to relieve the load. Zach Levine could be an option but he's not a Tom Thibs guy but Donovan Mitchell is (if the Cavs are willing).

  11. The only team to really appreciate Bruce Brown was the Nuggets — the only team in this discussion to have won a championship with Bruce playing a vital role, or should I say vital roles, and coming through in the clutch time and time again. Comments like what I'm seeing from this fanbase are head-scratching. You don't deserve him!
