Deandre Ayton Postgame Interview | Portland Trail Blazers 118, Indiana Pacers 115
Hours or you know what what happened the other day what other day the being snowed in at your house I thought we gave you all the information we needed to give you guys I think I think I gave everything I needed to give you guys we
Tried that’s it I tried to get out and I couldn’t get out I don’t think I need to go into any detail we gave you all the details we needed to give to be honest Portland tried to Portland was team was involved trying to get me and he
Couldn’t get me so I had to miss the game it was going to be too late for me just could to get out period ain’t no boat ain’t no helicopter nothing I just had to take the hell but my guys got me like how they did today
Do you live in a pretty hilly area I do I wasn’t I not judging I know it’s just so foggy I’m still trying to figure it out man I don’t even know where I’m at yet to be honest I’m over by the water you’re off about a month how does
It feel it’s been a month almost why I was playing like that you said you uh before we got on camera you you missed a few bunnies just a little bit of rust kind of getting back into things I yeah yeah I them games like that frustrate me
Cuz you know coming back I’m working so hard to get back in you know in practice you know playing that 5 on0 it look good you know shooting over nobody then you have somebody in your face you got to elevate your shot a little bit more then
Fatigue kicks in and the mental stamina kicks in as well so there’s a lot going on and then me coming back against the number one pace team in the in the world you know you know lack of oxygen going to the brain so all of that stuff kicked
In so I Tred to you know my teammates had me you know just talking me through and you know coach the coaching staff um had my back trying to protect me in ways but you know it was a fun game at the end of the day we were competing and you
Know we played for each other tonight and we did everything you know the coaches ask of us and yeah how long how long does it usually take for you to get your your win fully back after you’ve been out for a little bit how many games
It’s not really a win thing it’s just but just like back into the swing yeah it’s just more finding my rhythm you know I come back um you know well winded well ready to run up and down however however long coach want me to play for it’s
Just you know Rhythm of the game where I find or you know coach might Implement new things where you know we have new reads and things like that where I might forget it sometimes or you know just know just the rhythm of the game on how fast we play just remembering things off
The rip like that you know that’s the only things where I got to pick up back on in my rhythm how’s the knee knee is perfect yeah I’ve been doing treatment the whole time on that as well giving that some time the knee cost you 11
Games and then you were set to come back was it pretty frustrating being at home knowing that you’re finally going to be able to play again yeah man just a little setback yeah um it was a lot of stuff and um you know just something you know
To get me right uh I’m glad glad I took you know the time off and just you know trying to get this leg right and understanding my body you know I’m I’m an older dude now to where you know I just can’t get up and you know hoop
Anymore like how I used to you know you got to do some type of routine on just you know getting your body right and you know having some type of post post workout and things like that just being on top of it consistently you know I’m
Just doing a little bit more of that what would you what would you like working alongside Walker you know or Jabari and you know kind of on the glass you know how what’s that do we was just we was just talking about that I said I
Know it got to be fun Bo like how does it feel from like your perspective you know I just wanted to know how does it feel with me being out there with him cuz you know that’s a new lineup a coach put out there me and him out there
Together he was just telling me he just he’s just happy he don’t have to play Down Low you know he seen me SW a shot he gets amped up and he gets to push the ball or you see me fighting down there with a big he just you know sneeks and
Grab his boards and keep it going I’m like yeah that’s how he supposed to feel to be honest you know playing your shots and you know he said uh you know when people are down there on me you know either he know the pass is coming for
Sure when I’m in a short rooll or you know just knowing that I’m going to get double and he going you know what I’m saying shots coming he’s ready for his shot so that’s a good thing man people are well engaged and well in the Giants
And just you know knowing the roles and you know what they bring to the team

DA you did great! I enjoyed watching you
Love you DA but you need to be a little more comfortable with the press. Of course they're gonna ask about you being iced in, just give a 2 sentence summary and they're good. Loved you on the court though, warming up. Need better communication for sure, those collides with bari looked like they hurt sheesh.
No snowmobiles in Portland?
Dude is a bit weird
What's a big man like DA even matter that much anymore in the NBA? All that really matters in today's NBA is how many shots you can get off, fg%(especially from 3), & how many free throws u can draw(which is easy to do for guards with the continuation rule & banning of hand-checking). Teams just might as well get entire rosters full of sharp-shooting slender/fast guards that can sell flops, some 3/D forwards, & a couple European big men who have some finesse. What else is gonna win you a championship anymore? Defense? LOL! And the only sure thing about the TrailBlazers now is that Jerami Grant is still good. But they'll trade Grant to dump his salary as soon as they get an even half decent offer. Other than that they're practically the worst team in the league, trying to develop a bunch of lose now now players that will win later when they go to different teams after their contracts run out. The franchise dumped Terry Stotts who overachieved with what he had because Lillard for some reason wanted Billups as head coach. Then Billups shows up(look at what he's done since he's been in Portland) & then Dame demands a trade like a year later(most of which he sat out to mend after a surgery). Not to bash Dame. He was a great/loyal Portland player but on the other hand – don't force the firing of a decent head coach just to get a coach you said you wanted to play for only to bolt as soon as he shows up. idk – Sharpe looks like he's a future all-star, Ayton shows some flashes(but that type of big man doesn't do a team a lot of good in today's NBA), & who knows about Scoot(it took awhile & some "injuries" for Sharpe to start turning it on last season, so maybe it will be the same for Henderson). Simons will probably wanna bolt soon, he can easily be a quality 4th scoring option
or 6th man on a contender so why's he gonna wanna stick around Portland in his prime? And by the time the really young guys do get real good(if they do), they'll split for a bigger market or a "win now" team. Again – that's today's NBA.
