A Paul George trade in the next 3 weeks would be shocking–but the closer we get to the deadline without him and the team finding a mutually agreeable number on an extension, the more likely it is that LAC entertains alternatives to risking his free agency this summer.

  1. I don’t see it happening over a few extra million if it’s a 3 or 4 year deal. I don’t see another team out there offering a better total package including lifestyle, continuity, etc wither

This would be absolutely devastating. It would literally kill this teams window

Pay Paul George what ever the hell he wants

We’re not trading Paul George. The poster knows that. PG all but said he’s going to re-sign soon.

  4. It would be incredible if we could get rid of him and improve.

Guess he don’t really want a championship. Farewell PG. It was fun.

  6. Surflover12

Trading pg might be the dumbest thing they could do

What can we even get realistically for PG?
1)A trade with Heat center around Hero?
2)A trade with the Cavs for Donavan Mitchell?
    3) Knicks been willing to throw Julius Randle?
    4) any draft picks out there along with young players?

Lucas isn’t even suggesting he has sources here. He’s a numbers/cap guy, and the point of this conjecture is that staying under the 2nd apron will be tough as hell if PG and LAC can’t find a middle ground in contract negotiations.

Why are people downvoting this post? The OP is not Lucas Hann.

  10. Yall need to stop reacting with your emotions. This type of tweet is way more informative than your usual Twitter random opinions.

The post is more about illustrating what’s at stake in terms of the Paul George extension negotiations. Talking about it this way is maybe a bit provocative for the sake of it, because PG seems like he’ll sign soon.

But it highlights the next steps if PG is insistent on the full max instead of accommodating a bit like Kawhi did. If PG is really insistent on the full max (he could get it from Philly), it means we probably don’t have enough to keep Harden. That’s likely the holdup here.

And if for some reason, Clips discover PG is insistent on max money, we have to face the decision to go for it anyway this year (which I think we would pick) and let him walk for nothing in offseason, or trade him for something this year.

None of this would be a problem but the new CBA’s 2nd apron doesn’t allow us to spend freely because all the other owners are butthurt and anti-competitive. Under the old CBA, PG woulda been maxed months ago.

Top 5 teams don’t get rid of their top players at the trade deadline. They are trying to win a championship. This is stupid and should not have been posted on this sub.

  12. MothershipConnection

Even if for some reason you can’t extend him why would you trade him who could you realistically get that would make the team better this season

This is absolutely a win now team and there aren’t exactly a lot of 6-8 knockdown 3 point shooters who are also plus defenders out there

I can already imagine podcast p calling this dumb as hell next week

  14. DeathOfLife01

Would be weird to trade PG on the 8th and have a PG bobble head giveaway two days later lol

“”Leonard hopes his extension, which is less than the max available, will help in facilitating the return of James Harden and Paul George.

“With the conversation that I have with them about it, I think for the most part everybody is coming back,” Leonard said. “So with me signing an extension, I think it gives us a chance to sign both of those players.”

Take that for what you will.

Reading comprehension levels around here aren’t great, eh?
