Some comparisons I’ve been looking at courtesy of [craftednba.com](https://craftednba.com). No single stat tells the whole story, but I love being able to compare the offensive and defensive details.
Quick thoughts:
* All are underwhelming on defense, but Jones has surprisingly good deflection / defensive turnover numbers. I like the idea of him playing off ball with the other guard on the floor (Grimes / DDV) guarding point-of-attack so he can get in passing lanes * Clarkson and Rozier bring the most offensive firepower, but Clarkson’s efficiency is pretty abysmal * I knew Brown was well-rounded, but it’s kind of funny how middle of the road he is across the board. Surprised to see him rated as a minus defender, even though of these four I’m sure he’d be the best option
My conclusion is that Jones would be our best bet for a backup creator who can also fill in as Brunson insurance. I think Rozier will be more expensive to get, and I just don’t like the inefficiency / lack of defending from Clarkson. I’m getting the ask for any of these guys is one 1st and two 2nds OR 2 1sts (with protections) OR one 1st + Grimes.
I wouldn’t mind BB but feels he fills the Hart / DDV role of well-rounded role players who can cut and hustle (Hart, DDV).
In terms of contracts:
* Rozier has three years left at 23/25/27 * Brown has one year left + club option at 22/23 * Jones is on a 14M expiring * Clarkson ~~is on a $24M expiring~~ has three years left at 24/14/14 (fixed)
Don’t think I’d pay the price for DJM considering where his defense is this year and how he’s looked at SG with a ball-dominant PG in Trae.
Brogdon I think is another great option in the same vein as Tyus, but obviously has durability issues and is older. Tyus could be with the team long-term.

If we can’t get Murray, then I’d settle for tyus jones. If we end up not getting Murray, sending Fournier and a pick to Washington for tyus jones and Daniel gafford would be good.
What about Markele fultz? Might be able to get Wendell Carter jr too, since we need depth at the the forward/center spot rn

if rozier’s contract was a little cheaper he’d be a no brainer
Depends on what it takes to get them. Assuming Fournier and some not important picks: 1) Brown 2) rozier / clarkson 4) Jones
Don’t think the Knicks should target a facilitator like Jones. Wouldn’t fit playing minutes with Brunson so would be limited to like 10 mpg.
Brown is the best fit since he could fill in for all kinds of positions pg-pf pretty much. So he could contribute with Brunson as an off ball guy, or handle point when Brunson rests with the bench squad.
Clarkson and rozier are both chuckers. Scared of scary terry and clarkson as I think they would be the most volatile and possibly most unhappy not playing big minutes. But wouldn’t mind them in the Quickley role.

Did you see what Ainge wanted for Clarkson? I know it is a starting asking price tactic, but it sure is a boner killer

Clarkson passes the eye-test the best for me in terms of what we need. I think he’d thrive in the Garden too.

Of this group, it’s Brown.
Murray is the real answer though. I think Brown has too much overlap with Hart/OG/Dante and Murray fills the gaps we need. Again I know people will take stuff away from him that he’s not as good on defense, and they’re right. But he’s also playing on a bad team, knows he’s being shopped, and has to play alongside a ball hog who chucks up 40 ft 3’s 5 seconds into the shot clock. The price is higher on Murray, but I think he is the needle mover of the players available. Am I going to be upset if we add Brown? Absolutely not. He’s versatile, can play out of position, but like I said I think he does a lot of the same things Hart does. I just think Murray is the better fit and the perfect deal for a secondary level star Leon can pull off without losing a ton of other trade chips and draft picks down the line.
severinks
Literally none of them. Id take any one of Murray. Burk,Sexton, or Brogdon.
