The Sacramento Kings BLOW massive lead to the Suns

The Sacramento Kings BLOW massive lead to the Suns

For those who don’t know Morgan was on the uh the broadcast tonight she was she’s not here for the podcast tonight because she hit her head today and then had to go to urgent care then went to see a doctor and she was diagnosed with a concussion she’s doing much better now

That’s the good news that’s the good news that’s the great news uh the bad news is that the Kings just threw away two games in a row two games in a row what should have been a 4 in one road trip you lose when you

Lead by four with 18 seconds to go at the free throw line against the Bucks and then tonight out of all nights tonight when you are playing classic Kings basketball for most of the game you are cruising the Suns oh little little bit of a punch back it’s down to

14 you get it back up to 20 and then in the fourth quarter with 810 to go you’re up 22 points I’m looking ahead I’m ah this is great couple more baskets here could call tonight and vogle says we’re going small and the Kings shrunk even smaller than them at that point the

Kings collapse poor decisions bad shots defense getting cooked because of bad offense and here we are left talking about a loss this is why the games against Portland and Charlotte hurt so bad right you have those losses then you add this to it we’re seeing too many bad

Losses Now by this group too many bad losses and it sucks because tonight and the Milwaukee game there are moments you thought this could be the turnaround for this group this could be the stretch where they really start to take off tonight just beyond disappointing we’ve

Seen bad losses but this might be the bad the worst loss of the year and I I feel like we say that sometimes after losses the Kings have had some bad blowouts where they didn’t show up but when you’re up 22 you’re up 22 with 810

To go not 22 in the first quarter that’s different in the NBA but you’re up 22 with 810 you guys got to lock in why why is the pace slowing down what are we looking at the clock trying to milk the clock you can’t play that way just beyond disappointing tonight I wish

Morgan was here to balance me out a little bit but I I’m feeling really down about where things are at right now because this one you you just can’t excuse there’s no you what there’s no excuse there’s none I mean the Philly game on the road that was bad for sure Milwaukee oh

You’re playing well against Milwaukee you battle back from 12 down stunning stunning tonight for the Sacramento Kings here we are talking about backto back Kings losses that might be two of the most disappointing losses of the season the Kings up four with 18 seconds to go in Milwaukee lose

At the buzzer thanks to Dame Lillard and then tonight in the Valley of the Sun they were smacking around the sun’s team the defense was moving well Kevin herder was showing some nice things yet again the kings were just moving the right way the ball was whipping around assist

Galore made shots just complete performance they were up 22 points with 810 to go chock up a Big W right wrong the Phoenix Sons went with a small lineup they said you Banks nurkic you’re out they went small and the Kings felt like they got even smaller as they lose

A 22 point lead 119 117 in Phoenix it’s the biggest fourth quarter comeback in the NBA since the bubble in fact teams were 0 and 1,244 went down 22 plus since August of 2020 will add one win to that total for the Phoenix Suns tonight as the Kings

Have an epic collapse and all of a sudden they’re 22 and 18 I’m Duce Mason Morgan Reagan I’ll probably call her at some point to check in with her as she is resting after the concussion but we have to break this one down of course each and every one of our

Podcasts presented by our friends over at Northwest X years check out trust northwest.com this one stinks this one’s a really bad loss for the Sacramento Kings I this is the the type of loss that just eats at you because I feel like the Sacramento Kings have played some of their best

Basketball in the last two games they they look more like themselves than I think really at any point this season the last two games and they’re 0 and two and it’s late game execution down the stretch tonight you’re up 22 with 810 to go teams make runs in the NBA we saw the

Suns do it earlier in the game when they cut it to 14 but the Kings responded all of a sudden it’s back to 20 cool close this one out but what happened down the stretch just can’t be accepted especially when you want to be a team that is taken serious in the Western

Conference this West is too good and now we’re going through a stretch of games for the Sacramento Kings where you’re going hey that lost to Charlotte was bad that Portland game was bad game oh man what happened there oh the Bucks collapse and then tonight that’s not a

Good theme now there’s some good from the last couple of games for sure but the end result is you got to close these games out I mean tonight the the mistakes down the stretch what so the Phoenix Suns decided to go small they were going to mix it up they

Were like you know what we got to junk up this game we had nkit in there Eubanks nothing’s working the kings are carving us up they’re getting good looks inside and out we’ve got no answer for them so they put KD at the five tell you what man KD played some great defense

And that Sun’s team was just especially go that smaller lineup defensively they were making the Kings look lost out there the Kings had no idea how to handle it they took bad shots careless plays playing small allowed the Suns to move better switch and they were doubling

Sabonis active hands and the Kings just played right into it it was like four shots I also thought the pace down the stretch was like are you just looking at the clock in that first half all I’m noticing is the King’s Pace up and off makes they were pushing they were

Getting great looks and that’s why it look so much like last year again but then we’re talk talking about 5 and a half to go the all right the lead’s kind of shrinking a little bit it’s down to 15 we’re bringing the ball up slow I

Mean when Fox they let Fox was letting the ball roll I’m like this game’s close like just play you you cannot go away from what’s working you can’t start thinking about the clock you have to protect the lead in today’s NBA teams can come back we’re seeing it a lot

Nowadays but that up 22 with they T to go that’s bad that’s really bad and you know I thought Fox did not play well down the stretch Malik monk had three turnovers in the fourth quarter the suns in the fourth quarter outscored Sacramento 35- 21 66% shooting seven of 11 from

Downtown Durant had 15 points in the fourth quarter Sacramento had eight turnovers in the that quarter eight for perspective they had six going into the third they were playing incredible basketball and totally went away from it there’s no excuse for a game like that and it’s it’s really disappointing

That small lineup definitely messed up things I even thought down the stretch the the way the Suns go small I I would have put ly back out there Trey ly was doing a good job at trying to check KD making life more challenging out there I would have thrown him on there

And I I felt like the the Kings tried to play tried to adjust to them like there was that one stretch where Brown takes sabonis out at the 439 Mark it’s a 12-point game all right it’s it’s close but you know 439 you get a bucket it’s fine he takes

Sabonis out and they go with Fox Monk herder Keegan Harrison Barnes they Tred to match up with them instead of going let’s calm our down for a second and let’s just run our stuff we’ll get a good look bad just Bad final stretch of the game was Fox monk Harrison Keegan

Sabonis I thought you could have made the case that herder deserved to be out there he was playing some really good basketball and I I think herder the last couple of games he’s getting this opportunity it’s not only like oh he looks more confident out there he he

Started this game just playing the passing Lanes getting a couple of steals attacking the basket I just liked his flow and how he was playing he had some really strong moments out there I mentioned Tre L thought he had some strong moments out there uh but down the

Stretch was Fox monk Barnes Keegan sabonis and it just absolutely fell apart and so now you’re left with the last two games two games you should have won you should have won there’s no like hey man it’s tough you you cannot walk away with no wins last two

Games you know I mean even we talk about I see what the chat’s uh popping off too appreciate you guys for hanging out with us Sasha had some fantastic moments in this game tonight too and I just want to double check my notes so Sasha played the start of the fourth

Quarter and and look this game started to switch a little bit right when they made a run in the third but the Kings answered right uh but Sasha started the fourth quarter he ended up coming out at the 710 Mark and did not come back in the game same with uh uh ly

At that point those guys did not end up coming back in the game and I thought both those guys had some very strong moments on both ends you know Sasha tonight tied his career high with 14 and he did it in 17 minutes 6 and9 active defensively but tonight falls on

Some weird decision making down the stretch both with lineups and then you expect more from Fox and monk those guys have to bring you home and and I I think that’s that’s where the disappointment really lies tonight is some of the mistakes that are made down the stretch

Those are mistakes you expect from like a young team that hasn’t been there before who hasn’t played some close games guys it seems been the playoffs like they they they don’t have a whole bunch of guys that have been in the league two years we’re talking about

Guys who’ve been around like you settle it down and run your stuff the Kings just needed a bucket just a bucket and they just could not get anything easy in the game just really really bad

Deuce recaps what went wrong in the Kings latest loss where they blew a 22-point lead with 8 minutes to go and lost to the Suns.

  1. Has Fox ever explained why he always lets the ball roll down the court? Is he trying to get rest or trying to milk the clock? I don't think it happened much this game, but it's really annoying especially since our half court offense sucks. They were running whether the Suns missed or made a basket the first 3 quarters to that same offense we've seen all year in the final few minutes.

  2. Dont want to downplay the Suns defense but im getting really tired of lazy pull ups early in the shot clock, 1 on 1 plays hoping for a call, and unforced turnovers. It waa sickening watching these dudes and their body language as the lead evaporated. Im not sure why they went away from ball movement the last half of the quarter, Suns smelled blood and went after it.

  3. On the bright side, the kings hung with a talented squad. But this was stomach turning. Hope Morgan is doing okay. Be easy on her. ❤

  4. Gut punch 🥊 Glad you are here for us, Deuce, because I was at a loss for words when this one ended. Still feel numb after a night’s sleep.

  5. In my opinion. In this game I had the feeling that Sasha could have played longer. He would have scored at least 20 points. And the Kings probably would have won that game.

  6. Deuce what's crazy is I was thinking to myself last night how proud I was of the team for bouncing back the way they did after Lillard game winner lol and then they just collapsed for an even worse loss!! Mike Brown deserves a lot of blame too. How the hell does that even happen

  7. I'm calling it: KANGZ. This team has no pride, grit or resilience. Don't know what's going on, but a team that didn't need fixing is definitely broken.

  8. The Sacramento Kings hit their heads, have a concussion and never recovered. That sounds more like it. Them players get paid millions win or lose.

Dear Sacramento Kings fans: Save yourself a concussion, don't watch the game, watch the highlights or replays ONLY IF THEY WON.

  9. On the bright side, the Sacramento Kings are closer to keeping that 2024 draft pick and, they are actually a game ahead of my prediction at this juncture of the season.

  10. Let’s go after Mikal Bridges we need leader, ship defense and play our way not the other team dictate how we play

  11. Like you said with putting Lyles back out there, I would have put Sasha back in the game down the stretch. He was on FIRE and they never went back to him. Lyles was doing well, but not hitting shot. Sasha was doing it all!

  12. I get that it’s just 2 games and we still have half of the season. But us old school Kings fans know, it’s not the loss itself that hurts us, it’s the mentality of why we lost. It’s like we gave up….before the Suns even did…and that’s what cost us the game.
Atleast the 76ers game…yea that was just a loss. We got mad but we were simply outplayed. Maybe even the Bucks game we atleast showed who we used to be, only to lose at the buzzer, sucks but it was a good shot by Dame. But this loss…….unacceptable at all costs. They gave up, they thought they had it in the bag, not realizing the Suns are still closing the gap. This is a mistake acceptable of the 2010s Kings, but with the 2020s Kings, no. We can’t be the team that has a spectacular year, then suck a** the next. Especially with a team full of younger guys who are just now entering their prime.

Get your act together MB and squad, you have half of the season left to show that you can still be the Kings squad that was such a threat to the west last season. Forget the all star, who cares if Fox/Sabonis don’t make it, focus on the rest of the season and that alone.

  13. Losses happen, collapses happen, frustration happens….responding to learn from mistakes and having a great second half of the season will erase a lot. Remember Miami last year…..

  14. I keep saying it from the start, Sasha should have been given more minutes. He was hot against Phoenix and Coach Brown should have kept him on the game. Barnes is mediocre both on offense and defense and when he’s on the floor it’s like five against four. If you really watch HB, he just goes through the motion and just stands around most of the time. I know Coach Brown has history w HB back to his Warriors days but if he really wants to win games, bench Barnes and give Sasha more minutes. With all the assistant coaches he has, don’t tell me not one of them can see the obvious. When Huerter was on a slump, he was benched so why not bench Barnes. He’s been playing below average in 90% of the games. They deserved to lose.
