Straight game after falling to the Lakers and then the Celtics on Monday Kevin Durant Devin Booker and Bradley Beal turn around what was a 16-point deficit into a 23-point Beatdown a 39-point overall turnaround in a game where Devin Booker dropped 46 points including 22 in the second quarter where
He outscored the Mavericks by himself 22- 20 and the Mavericks defend defensively Midway from the second quarter on were absolutely dominated by the Phoenix Suns now the Mavericks sit here as they try to pick themselves up after having lost three straight games they get ready to go on the road to
Atlanta on Friday before taking on the Sacramento Kings on Saturday in a road home back to back but coming out of the game there was a lot of frustration obviously for the way that the team performed especially in the second half the amount of composure that was lost
Throughout the course of the game whether it be Grant Williams getting tossed in the game LCA donic allegedly having a fan tossed from the game because of comments being made by his sons fan throughout the course of the game among other things Luca Don is getting into it with reporters after the
Game not to mention the effort that was lacking for this team especially in the second half left a lot to be desire and questions now arising continuing to be Arisen about whether or not Jason Kidd is the right man for the job this team has not been good since its eight and
Two start let’s look at some of the numbers here since their 8-2 start the Mavericks are 16 and 18 over their last 34 games 20 20th in the NBA in defensive rating 17th in offensive rating 20th overall in net rating at a negative 1.5 22nd in field goal percentage 23rd in
Three-point percentage 27th in free throw percentage you’re sensing a theme here 24th in rebounds per game this is a team in a lot of categories that’s been a bottom third team in the league since their hot start going eight and two over their first 10 games now the schedule
Has been unkind to them at times injuries have taken a toll on this team but the inconsistency and up and down nature of this team has left a lot of us frustrated about what is happening on a day-to-day basis game to game basis and what is happening with with these
Players from an accountability standpoint and it falling on the head coach ever since their surprise run in the Western Conference Finals a couple of years ago you saw how things ended last season with having to ensure that they kept a lottery pick in the NBA draft which did turn into Derek Lively
Thank goodness and now after a really good start to the season while Kyrie Irving has dealt with injury Luca dones continues to deal with injury the inconsistency of a grant William so far this year as well Derek Lively has been a major bright spot in what he’s been
Able to provide in the middle also dealing with injuries to guys like Dante exm and others my point being this has been one hell of a roller coaster so far through these first as you look at it now 44 games for a team that’s now 24
And 20 and when you look at the Western Conference in the way that the Phoenix Suns who have now won seven straight games you’ve already seen how the Pelicans and the Los Angeles Clippers have started to play as well the Clippers have been one of the best teams
In the NBA since about mid November the Mavericks right now are in a skid that doesn’t look like is going to be ending anytime soon now you say Kevin they could get back on track as soon as Friday when they take on the Atlanta Hawks especially with no Trey young as
He continues to deal with the concussion and trade rumors swirling around to jont Murray and whether or not he’ll be a part of this team by we the time we get to the February 8 trade deadline but for Jason kid this has to be a moment for him where he looks and takes
Accountability for the way that his team has played no more do we ma Mass fans or mass fans I should say want to hear that no one’s dying or I’m just watching just as much as you are what I thought was going to be a seminal moment in the game
For them against the Suns where the Mavs clearly could not stop the freight train that was Devin Booker especially in the third quarter the amount amount of frustration yes with the officials and the way that the game was being called where the officiating did not have a
Good grasp and handle on that game between the Mavericks and the Suns on both sides Grant Williams getting tossed after committing unnecessary fouls and doing the amount of chirping that he was Luca doing the constant chirping that he’s always doing with the officials I thought JC kid would have a moment where
He would stand up for his team and maybe get a technical or maybe get tossed you’ve seen when teens have seen things unravel the coach be able to step in and protect his players especially what it feels like on that particular night the referees aren’t doing their team any
Favors and it didn’t feel like in a lot of ways the Mavericks were getting any favors done by them when it came to the officiating that is the time when the head coach needs to step in and be able to take some of that and protect his
Players and get them to refocus on the task at hand which is don’t worry about the officials I’ll take the brunt of that you go out there and play and execute based on what we need to do to try to get ourselves back in this ball game and that simply didn’t happen
Things have to change for this team and they have to change quick now let’s get something clear and on the table here the Mavericks are not going to fire Jason kid midseason and you say Kevin how can you say that when you looked at the Milwaukee Bucks and they fired
Adrien Griffin even though he started the season 30 and 13 those circumstances are a little bit different in Milwaukee we’ve saw and I continue to hear about reporting how things started to go south rather quickly for Adrien Griffin with the resignation of former Maverick assistant and NBA champion assistant coach Terry
Stots and him resigning within days of an altercation that he and Adrien Griffin had according to reporting but at the same time Milwaukee’s had a situation where it’s Championship robust for them they made a major move to get Damien Lillard to go along with jannis atenda kmo to be able to increase the
Ceiling for that team and they have a chance to win a championship right now and if the coach based off their situation wasn’t providing what they needed you had to rip the bandaid off and move on the Mavericks are in a little different spot when it comes to
Kid a team that still needs Improvement on their roster yes with the NBA trade deadline coming up I don’t know how much they’ll be able to make a move based on the roster that they have right now but more importantly Luka said 24 years of age continuing to help this team try to
Get into a position where they’re a true tnder in the west because right now even being four games above 500 you don’t consider this team right now a true top six team or even the possibility of being a top four team they are about what they are which is a playing team
Which should not necessarily be the case when you have a top five talent in Luca Dodgers and a top 15 player in the league and Kyrie Irving yet here we are so all of this to say is this falls on the shoulders of Jason kid you can blame
Ro construction when it comes to Nico Harrison and Mark Cuban you can blame inconsistency you can blame the lack of continuity when it’s come to injuries that have sabotaged this team throughout the course of its first 44 Gams but at the same time it Still Remains all the
Responsibility falls on the head coach and when you look back at the history of Jason kid and how things ended for him in Brooklyn how they ended for him in Milwaukee and how things are trending right now for him in Dall he has to be the reason why things turn
Around whether it be getting a little bit more chippy we’ve seen at times from him this year when he has stood up to reporters such as Tim McMahon during that Infamous press conference where he said hey write some positive blank but at the same time there hasn’t been
Enough sense of urgency and fire it appears from this head coach when it comes to getting this team turned around and the word we continue to use that I’ll continue to use for this team is accountability it doesn’t seem to be any when you look around round even with
Luca dones and the way things went down with that fan it doesn’t lend itself to a team that can keep its composure and you saw that play out in the game against the Suns if you want a microcosm of how this season has gone for the Mavericks watch the Phoenix game from
Wednesday a team that was hitting a barrage of three-pointers especially in the first quarter lost their composure Grant Williams going into business for himself getting a tacnical foul yes I know nerk is Durant each got technical fouls as well but trying to set a tone
In a rivalry game where an extra set a tone didn’t necessarily need to be had now Luca Don is saying postgame that hey we’ve got to be a more physical team in order to be able to find ourselves winning games but what you have to be if
You’re going to be a true contender in the west or just a good team period is the ability to keep your composure the Mavericks simply haven’t been able to do that and it’s reared its ugly head when it’s mattered most whether you look at the Phoenix game on Wednesday where you
Look at the bad loss that they had against a short-handed Memphis Grizzlies team a really bad loss to a very short-handed New Orleans Pelicans team as well there have been really good wins for this team I go back to the Christmas Day game on the road in Phoenix where
Luca dones dropped the 50 points the Minnesota timberwol win well we thought that that was a signature win for them as well beating the New York Nick and Jaylen bruns’ return to the America Airlines Center beating the New Orleans Pelicans when Tim way Jr and Kyrie
Irving both went off for over 40 points beating the Pelicans when they had Zion Williamson Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum all back on the floor there have been moments where we have seen this team be spectacular throughout the course of the year but yet and still
When we watch this team what it matters most especially against really good teams the upper e line of the NBA they simply haven’t been able to bring it this is a team that is under 500 against plus 500 teams so far this year they’ve
Beaten up on a lot of bad teams but they have not found themselves consistently playing against the best in the NBA and when you have a team with two top level scores and Luca Donis and Kyrie Irving that simply can’t be the case and I don’t know if there are maturity issues
For this team that has to be solved or a lack of focus that unfortunately finds itself popping up at the wrong time someone somebody has to step up and grab a hold of this room and demonstrate the kind of Veteran leadership that you see from other teams around the league
Because think about some of the best teams that you see in and around the NBA they have veteran leader guys that are able to grab a hold of a locker room and ensure that teams and their individual players are playing to the collective standard that each organization is set
Based off what each organization decides those principles are that is not happening right now in Dallas and that is not a good sign moving forward because who steps up to be leader guy is it Kyrie Irving is it Luca donic who is it going to be that’s going to set a
Tone that figures out hey we can’t come out here and allow ourselves to not only get out physical at times but lose our composure that allows us to hang our heads when shots don’t go down as you saw especially in that third quarter where the Suns dropped 43 points and
Defensively the Mavericks didn’t have it because they weren’t making shots on the offensive end which is another reason why bring this to the doorstep of Jason kid there have been too many times when we have looked at this team and we’ve had conversations about how this team
Hangs their heads on the offensive end when or on the defensive end when things aren’t going well on the offensive end at times there’s a lack of effort when shots aren’t falling and Body Language being bad when things aren’t going their way that is the sign of an immature team
And that leadership starts at the top with his head coach and until this coach decides to find a me measure of accountability for himself that can trickle down to his team this team is going to show the kind of inconsistency that we’ve seen so far from them this
Year and if it doesn’t change and doesn’t change anytime soon there is no confidence that I or You should have in this team’s ability to make any kind of playoff from because the inconsistent nature at which they play with doesn’t lend itself to confidence about what
They can be down the road in the playoffs if they find themselves getting into the playoffs now here’s the good part you can turn it around by getting yourself a couple of wins here you still do have Luca donic you still do have Kyrie Irving who yes is going to be
Dealing with that thumb injury it appears for a little bit longer as he missed the game on Wednesday with that thumb sprain of his but until the rest of the Supporting Cast where there’s concern especially for Derrick Jones Jr at the moment where teens are sagging off of him allowing him to shoot
Three-pointers and he is not making teams pay the way that he was early on in the regular season the inconsistency and up and down play of Grant Williams where you saw the good of Grant Williams scoring eight of the first 10 points in the game against the Suns and then
Things turning around where he was not able to sustain his play and then going into business for himself that ultimately sucked the momentum out of the game for that team then you look at the rest of this roster and you try to figure out where is the rest of it going
To come from if you’re going to be missing Luca or Kyrie on a given night Tim hard with Junior at times has been really good for this team this year in fact one of the leading six men of the Year candidates in the NBA especially when you look at again the example that
He had against the New Orleans Pelicans dropping over 40 points to helping Kyrie Irving win the game that day but there are plenty of questions for this team that have to be answered a team that right now defensively isn’t playing well a team that’s not knocking down free
Throws they’re not shooting the ball well and overall this is not a team that that you look at based off their roster based off the way that they control themselves that you can feel good about moving forward for the rest of the year again winning solves everything when you
Look at their abilities and what they do have you’ve seen the high levels of this team and that is ultimately what is frustrating here you’ve seen the levels at which this team has been capable of playing at at times throughout this season can they find a way to
Consistently do that after the All-Star break and prior to the all-star break where we have a couple of weeks left before we get there the schedule though is going to be difficult a mention got a game on Friday in Atlanta then they come back home to take on the Sacramento
Kings on Saturday they still got games against the Orlando Magic the 76ers the Milwaukee Bucks and they’ll see the Minnesota Timberwolves again before the All-Star break they’ve got to find a way to turn this thing around and turn it around quickly because you and I know based off how competitive the western
Conference is this season a three to five to six game losing streak can have you being a top six team to being out of the playin that is how tight things are in the west and why it’s so concerning that this team is not found what they have needed to based
Off of what they need to going forward here Luca donic though has got to be the guy that finds some measure of control he picked up another technical foul at the end of the first half you saw him having a fan who we have now come to learn apparently voluntarily removed
Themselves after security approached him in the game all this to be said though it doesn’t matter lucais can’t be bothered by what’s going on in the crowd so much so that he feels like he has to react to it to even have the idea of a fan being thrown out there are all
Things are going to be said about him when it comes to either his play on the court whatever his conditioning is all of these things have been said and heard before it is now time for him to grow up because he is the focal point of this
Team and his team needs him and the way that this team goes they follow him whether he believes it or not and I think he realizes that that his body language the way that he comports himself and the way that he carries himself day in and day out especially on
The floor matters for this team more so than most teams in the league Kyrie Irving who has been there done that as an NBA champion has to be able to help that out also but you look up and down this roster you don’t see the veteran
Leader that can help keep Luca donic in line and I’m not saying that donic necessarily needs a babysitter what I’m saying is there has to be someone that has the ability to pull him aside and remind him that hey man this train goes as you go and the way that this train is
Moving right now is heading for a wreck and right now they’re in the midst of a bad ride based on their last three games again can they turn this around sure they can but they’ve got to look themselves in their mirror and each one of them have to hold them accountable
For what has been a lackluster performance these last three games and most importantly Jason kid needs to find it it all starts in ends with leadership I don’t make the rules here this is simply how it goes Jason kid is the head coach of this team he is the guy that
This team takes its cues from and if he won’t be the one to find any measure of countability to start off for himself that trickles down to his team then it’s a lost cause if there are teams who are willing to fire their coaches who were 17 games above 500 even a Washington
Wizards team removed West unseld and we know how bad they are at 7 and 35 to their first 42 games why would wouldn’t Jason kid be potentially on that train again as I said before earlier I don’t think he gets fired midseason because the question that you have to ask
Yourself to which I did ask you online what kind of Coach are you looking for one that’s offensively inclined that can provide a measure of creativity for Luca donin and Kyrie Irving offensively one that’s more of a disciplinarian that allows the team to be able to feel the
Wrath of when things don’t necessarily go well or someone like a Chris Finch for example who called out Carl Anthony towns after he scored 62 points and said look man we were an immature undisciplined team and hunting for big numbers and that’s why they lost to the
Hornets by three despite the fact that Carl Anthony towns went off for over 60 points in a game no matter who you may think needs to coach this team the one that’s currently there needs to find a du way to be a better Coach and do a better job whether it be offensive
Creativity out of timeout plays whatever you feel like is going wrong with Jason kid he has to be the one to fix it because it’s not changing anytime soon unless Luca donic walks into Mark cin and Nico Harrison’s office and demands for Jason kid to be fired which I don’t
Think necessarily will happen regardless this team needs to find it and find it soon otherwise you and I will continue to have these conversations unpleasant ones when it comes to this team 24 and 20 four games is above 500 outside of the top six but still with a
Chance to get some things turned around but it starts individually with each player holding each other accountable but more so for Jason kid because what cannot happen is that he loses locker room if he loses his locker room then you and I have no reason to have that
More conversations about Jason kit being the head coach of this team and that’s where we are this team is perilously on the edge of having a locker room lost because their head coach won’t take responsibility and accountability for the way that his team has played he
Can’t just sit on the sidelines like you and I watching and he tried by calling some timeouts in the game against the Suns to no avail even with him trying to do so his team did not respond to the way that they were getting beat down by
The Suns and if he can’t keep the ear of his team and loses to locker room room then yeah it’s time to go there hasn’t been necessarily indications that that’s happened as of yet but if there’s any inkling that that is the case it’s time
To move on and to move on quickly to figure out a better solution going forward because the stakes are too high for a team that has two top 15 talents and are still finding themselves struggling mightily in a number of areas where they shouldn’t be especially offensively that is on the head coach
That is on the leadership of this team the Mavericks got to find a way to get it turned around and turn it around quickly you can find me on Twitter Facebook and Instagram kevinr Sports be sure to download the inside the marage podcast wherever you get Podcast for

On this episode of ‘Inside The Mavs’ I break down the Mavericks three-game losing streak after getting embarrassed by the Phoenix Suns. Jason Kidd has come under fire for the team’s recent performance and the lack of effort and execution as they are under .500 since their 8-2 start to the season. Luka Doncic and co. are going through a difficult stretch of games but the inconsistency and roller-coaster ride they’ve been on leaves much to be desired. I break down what needs to happen for the Mavericks to turn things around including players and Kidd himself holding themselves accountable for their performance and much more!

Kidd stinks as a head coach but luka likes him because he's not held accountable for being a selfish crybaby primadonna
1 max contract against 3 max contracts what did you expect?
I was in denial, but I’m starting to see it
I will trade luka!hi is suck leader and nobady on mavs players dont like him hi is so arogant this franchise is sucks and never ever watch this sucks players!!!
Luka is primadona i will fire all teame and ofice and coach and cuban 💩🤮💩
The coaching staff Nico Harrison gots to go he didn't do anything this offseason
Yes fire him. And I also believe we got the most toxic craziest negative fan base. All the channels except lock on mav's And this channel. It's like listening to a bunch of Simps and haters crying. It's disgusting. I can't believe my Mavericks got these kinds of Fans. & You talking about contradictory and lying. Some of the YouTuber that represent my mavericks is mental health & needs anger management. & straight up liars. It's like a bunch of Simps that don't have a voice in real life. get on the internet and just hate and be negative.
Sure you can fire Kidd and maybe that’s what gives the team a second wind and effort, but it can also get worse, just ask a Lakers or a Hawks fan how’s it been since letting the coach go.
On your point about veteran leaders, 11:38, It's so frustrating because even when the Mavs bring in veterans who should bring calmness and maturity, for a variety of reasons it doesn't seem to work.
Especially pontificated by how a 19yr old Lively is the 3rd best player on the team. In an ideal world, JaVale McGee wouldn't have been so terrible last season, and he could've provided that depth at Centre that we badly need, and would be a gentle way to ease Lively into the team instead of being thrust into starting every game. Richaun Holmes can't provide veteran presence or maturity because he doesn't play anymore, and Seth Curry has been nowhere near reliable enough, or Markieff Morris. So it's all left to Kyrie, because as talented as Luka is, he still plays too emotionally. But to be fair, I'd be emotional too if all my role players were not performing well enough consistently.
I always know when Kevin is doing a solo vid because every sentence is said like the end of a local CBS news report
Yes, they should fire J Kidd for sure. Their strategy is small ball and Luka and Kyrie bail them out.
Nicely put it Kevin 🙂
The Mavericks just do not have a defensive stopper on the rooster. They need to find someone with the size and disposition to play hard on the defensive end of the floor despite the lack of defensive effort by most of the team. Lively tries to be somewhat of a rim defender but he is not going to get any calls as a rookie. All basketball coaches say you cannot coach height. This is part of the way the NBA does not call hardly any charging fouls and allows Lebron and Yanis and Cat to just run over most players they encounter when driving into the lane. Only size, 6' 10" up and 285 pounds can make that stop, a foul will still be called, but a collision with someone that size can potentially cause a major injury. This also requires a player with the attitude to physically confront players that are trying to run you over.
I've already said the mavs should trade kyrie and create a good team aroud luka. Lakers are desperately looking for a point guard. If lakers manage to get dejounte murray, i believe no one would give many picks for kyrie ( he is not trustworthy ). With good players and 2 extra picks, it's possible to search for a new all star player that fits with Lukas game.
If they lose next game, I think they will definitely do something, if they lose to the Hawks.
Injuries and not enough talent has been the main problem. People overestimated the team early, and now that they are showing where they are people are hitting the panic button. They have a rookie starting at Center, and an under performing Grant Williams as the front court. Lively is going to be great but he's still a rookie and greatness may take years. Grant Williams may still have a place on the team but not as a starter. PF and backup Center and some health will make all the difference. They should get Capella to set the center position this year and next year find the PF/wing we need.
Kevin, which player on the Mavericks rooster can be a defensive stopper against players like Durant, Lebron, and Yanis? They do not have anyone that will even try to put in that kind of effort. None of their big men have the warrior attitude or the physical strength and speed to be that stopper. Also, why should they rick major injuries when the rest of the team is not making hardly any effort to play defense. Luka should be getting three blocks per game, and Kyrie should get three steals then maybe Dwight Powell might try to close the lane with his body.
This team has been deficient in talent for a long time. It has whiffed on too many past drafts, trades, and free agencies to have expected a quick turnaround from last year's debacle. I think that Jason Kidd was brought in to attract talent. After that part is done, the team should find a better coach.
I'd say Kyrie since he's been in the league for 13 years, but that may not be his strength which is fine. Luka still has some maturing to do. He's got to find a way to deal with the ref situation. As much as I liked Williams aggressiveness I felt like having two guys going off the reservation was too much for the team to overcome. Also I think Phoenix fed off of the complaining.
Nope, I’ll go one step higher and it falls on Mark Cuban plain and simple.
MFFL
Finally some accountability being put at the feet of the head coach. Good vid.
as long as the Cuban runs things nothing will change.
I know I am going to get massive hate for this but I don't care. Now while I do agree Kidd needs to go because the dude was trash in Milwaukee and he has been trash here and yes he needs to go, but this team has far more issues than Kidd. Cuban has been ruining this team for years and hires friends rather than people who are competent at their jobs and he needs to give up decision making for this organization.
Now for the hot take…………………I am on the verge of wanting to trade Luka Doncic. You can talk about Kidd all you want and as I stated he is garbage, but Rick Carlisle is a good coach and this team with Luka failed under him too. The one constant with this teams failures and rotation of players has one guy in common and that's Luka. Dirk failed for a long time too, but Dirk for one never had a talent like either KP or Kyrie to play alongside, and Dirk also took this team to 50 wins consistently every year and was always a top 3 team in the West yearly in his prime against better WC competition, and also made it deeper than the first round consistently. Through Luka's first 5 full seasons he has made it past the first round once and lost in the first round twice and missed the playoffs twice. Dirk missed twice in his first 2 seasons when the team was beyond trash and made it past the first round 3 times.
I don't like or agree with "Luka ball" where he just dribbles most of the shot clock and either passes it to the corner, throws a lob, takes a step back 3, or takes a floater. Guys with the highest usage rates usually have one thing in common………..they lose. Harden still has never won anything, Westbrook has never won anything, Dame has never won anything, LBJ has but it was when he started super-teaming up and the years he did win the chip his usage rating was lower than his career averages because he deferred to teammates like Wade or Kyrie. Luka needs to learn how to become useful without the ball in his hands because right now without the ball he is beyond useless on the court, and combine that with the fact that he is an immature petulant child when things don't go his way he is a nightmare of a teammate. There is no doubt that he is a top 3 individual player and is a magician with the basketball and his IQ is top of the charts all time, but individual success means nothing in a team sport. He can put up all the useless numbers he wants if he doesn't start learning how to play team basketball he will continue to lose. The Mavericks right now are 2nd to last in the league in TEAM passes per game because of his play style and that needs to change. He needs to have his usage rating around 30-31 instead of 35-36 for this team to truly become great. Notice when Kyrie plays without Luka how much more engaged the players look on offense because everyone gets their touches and gets involved. They are not very good teammates so they still lose games but they look engaged.
Let the hate comments commence………………………
