Toronto Raptors with an EXCITING win – IQ, Barnes, RJ, Siakam + Jontay Porter Debut
The Toronto Raptors win 116 111 yes I am very happy the Toronto Raptors won I’m way happier about how they won I’m happier about who they won against I’m happy about who played well there is almost nothing bad to say about this game there’s some stuff on the edges
That certainly could be cleaned up and we’ll talk about that the link is in the description this was a call-in show please hit like on your way in we are this close this close this close to 7,000 Subs let’s get us there first let’s hit that new intro for this new
Raptors team by the way if you’re counting the new Raptors I’m just going to forget that old one existed are two and0 they had beat the Cleveland Cavaliers and an almost fully healthy Memphis Grizzlies on the road it’s not a good road team the Raptors are not a
Good road team if you walked into tonight thinking the Raptors are going to win you’re wishful thinking hopeful but to be up the way the Raptors were up to have this you know thing happen towards the end where the Grizzlies are punching punching punching and they finally punch
Back there’s so many good things to talk about let’s hit that intro and let’s go today and they came early today to run through some sets it’s an [Applause] Open let’s go that’s why is the goat the Go let’s Go I gave my girlfriend a hug right after this game she’s like what I do I said it’s not you my team played well man there’s something about how the Raptors have played for the last few years even when they win it just sucks I don’t know how to explain it it never feels
Sustainable it’s always some weird shooting luck thing there’s always like something about how they’ve played for the last two and a half years that has driv me absolutely crazy because I don’t believe in the process right now I believe in the process I don’t even think the Raptors shot that well today
There’s nothing that happened today that can’t be sustained loved yaka purle Rim defense today I’ve been pretty critical about it I think he played really well today liked his screen setting RJ Barrett consider me very impressed right I went back last night I was listening to his draft interview just talking to some
People in the New York media who really have had to cover him and the feeling I get is that he works hard he cares he’s coachable and yeah today was everything of RJ Barrett you got the good you got the bad right the bad tunnel vision of course there’s a
Lot of tunnel vision a lot of you know he doesn’t see his teammates he goes into a congested paint but man you’re a raptor fan you’ve seen every player on this team do that this is fixable I think he is going to go to Darko after
This game and say what can I do better and darko’s going to be like here’s a list here’s a list of everything you can do better I was very impressed with this defense tonight very impressed with this defense shot making preparation pick and roll ball handling one thing that was
Somewhat underrated I don’t get to talk about when the Raptors made this trade is how much better these two guys are as screen Setters it’s really really working for the Raptors man it’s it’s been great um I think think uh you know someone saying Darko almost costes the
Game I don’t really agree with that but that’s cool you’re are absolutely entitled to that opinion I think the Raptor rotations were much better tonight um still a lot of minutes for Dennis schroer he is like Darko rakovich is Binky blanket uh he does not feel comfortable without Dennis Schroeder on
The court um for the most part I think Dennis played well tonight I think defense was decent I think offense was somewhat limited I think he got off the ball fairly quickly there wasn’t a ton of you know pound pound Pound survey drive into the paint congested you know
Was good shots like what what do you want Dennis was solid as Jared saying Dennis was solid I agree um Pascal SE yakum bit of foul trouble starts out slow gets it going gets it cooking you know uh I think overall like you know he’s taking fewer threes but he’s making
A decent amount of them tonight he goes one for two uh let’s take a look at the game very quickly we see some we see some callers lining up we got 500 of you in here please hit like on your way in that would really help get more people
In here all right okay Pascal SE yakum a very efficient night nine for nine for 14 make this a little bit bigger for y’all um I’ll make myself real small okay so Pascal SE yakum nine for 14 gets to the line six times Scotty Barnes 7
For 14 two for five from three he’s been one for five one for five the last two games so two for five is a slight Improvement on that right in line with his season averages uh he had also eight eight assists and 20 points um the Raptors were LED in scoring by Emanuel
Quickley Manny quick IQ whatever you want to call him he was amazing RJ Barrett started out better than he finished but I really liked his overall floor game right he had three assists seven rebounds um 14 points I think he was pretty tough you know uh yaka purle
Only had seven points but man seven points eight rebounds five five blocks five blocks and that is not even to um talk about the number of things that he did well in terms of just disrupting the offensive flow jiren Jackson Jr not you know an ideal matchup for yakob purle so
I I really liked uh his game overall Off the Bench we did see the debut of jonte Porter and I was very excited to see him come into the game very excited and for the time that he was on the court I think the Raptors looked
Great he didn’t score a single point he took two shots bricked both his threes I would love for him to keep taking those it was absolutely great Chris bue um a very energetic you know 13 minutes he he was watching as Jon Porter got the look before him uh in the second
Half he gets another look eight rebounds very energetic running the floor uh comedic moment when uh Dennis schroer misses him for that wide open layup and he Stomps his feet uh it happened three times tonight so you know they they might have some communication issues there uh Gary Tren Jr I didn’t really
Like his game tonight I think he has to be much better uh just reading the floor and understanding where his opportuni is going to come from but overall Five Points then Dennis schroer you know steadying steadying force uh 16 points seven rebounds five assists yeah from from the Memphis
Grizzly side I mean they got a balanced attack from their three main guys John Mar Desmond Bane and jiren Jackson Jr uh Xavier Tillman started Marcus Smart disruptive as hell started um can see I see a lot of Boston Celtics fans who have watched Marcus Smart make some
Really dumb decisions and yeah tonight uh they were for Memphis I think he overall played a pretty poor game um but defensively where he earns his money he was he was he was a pest and he was very impressive for them zy Williams a player that honestly I was not expecting anything
From him coming into this game they started him early in the season when they were losing and he was terrible but man some of those early reps seem to have worked I don’t know if it’s just a very very hot shooting night but he looked very impressive out there and
Very huge uh I can certainly see all the lottery potential that they saw in him he hasn’t worked out to date but you know good day for zy Williams overall let’s take a quick look at team stats here um Raptor shoot 48% from the field and 46% from three oh my
God I’m sorry I’m sorry this is just amazing on the road right 81% from the free throw line I don’t know which one which which of those two numbers I am more impressed with right now that they didn’t kill themselves at the line or that they shot 12 for 26 from three uh
The Memphis Grizzly is a bombing three-point shooting team uh johnar being like the one guy who doesn’t really take threes in that but jiren Jackson Jr can bomb for days and so can Desmond Bane and Zyra Williams and so they go 35% so the Raptor defense overall tonight was much better man much
Better it was so committed guys diving for loose balls it was just really impressive um assists probably not where Darko would want this uh number 25 probably still a little bit of one-on-one stuff going on with the Raptors and certainly we saw a lot of that late third early fourth um overall
You you have jiren Jackson Jr who’s a defensive player of the year a reigning defensive player of the year on the other side and you beat them in blocks that’s that’s all that’s pretty much all uh yaka purle tonight in terms of total turnovers I think for a new team still
Getting used to each other 12 is very good um you saw the transition game tonight Scotty and IQ man that was so fun to watch absolutely largest lead we have not seen a lot of days like this 20 points and they held it pretty much the entire way through right until the end
And this was you know weird because this is a trend that we saw in the previous game as well you see this massive Gap I mean the Raptor’s lead going into the you know they they ended quarters so well so well and that that is a sign of a mature team
As well because you know um they ended both quarters with a run you know second quarter and third quarter and then you know I’d say the the fourth quar they also there was a lot of toughness there uh Emanuel quickley was just uh freaking amazing man there’s a lot of makeable
Layups and stuff that he’s missing right now but to see this guy finally unlocked I heard a lot of New York fans texting me like oh man it’s happening sooner than I thought it’s it’s happening bro and I found out you know um I was reading earlier today that the Raptors
Can’t extend Emanual quickly until he actually hits free agency I mean if he keeps doing this like you’re going to have to pay him through the wazo right like I mean he’s great uh Jay Villa saying Emanuel quickley is the truth hell yes man he is so good and
That Skip and yo like the Raptors were dogless let’s be real they were pretty dogless for several years um you know there there wasn’t a lot of you know you get into this perspective where you know you start bending bending bending and then you suddenly start to see the team
Just look deflated and depressed out there and yeah we got the callers lined up uh we’re going to have to go for real quick calls tonight real quick calls because we got one two three four five six seven eight oh my gosh there’s a lot of you
Okay let’s go quick quick quick uh Lis uh Luis what’s up man hey what’s up can you hear me well yes I can perfect uh yeah what do I start I have so much to say so I’m gonna try to go quickly I really liked how shorter like a little
Bit of like shorter kind of like uh scoring today like he went to for a lot of his shots but I would I was happy that I kind of like that’s the reason we wanted him to come off the bench to kind of like come in and try to do some score
And do some ball handling I still think he did a little like Reckless uh like shots there but uh I mean they went in so it wasn’t like the worst I still think uh we should probably um uh try to limit the minutes that he plays with uh with Scotty and IQ
Uh mostly so like give him the opportunity to do more of this score and what he wants to do as and I think will be way more beneficial for both shter and Scotty and AQ absolutely um I think he played pretty well I think having multiple ball
Handlers uh for now is a really good thing and Dennis schroer is one of them and you know when you’re attacking Closeouts it helps to have a guy who doesn’t dribble the ball office but yeah so yeah anyways any closing thoughts man yeah another thing I was a little bit
Annoyed is like I feel like cakam kept like really going for his isos on his attacks but like he wasn’t really like passing out like he was getting like like boxed in and like like double triple team sometimes and he was refusing to pass it out and I was
Getting a little Annoying a couple times I mean he was fairly efficient there were a couple of you know issues with the playmaking tonight he ends up with zero assists I can’t remember the last time he had that happen but you know some of his passing was a little bit
Inaccurate a little bit late but nevertheless you know he’s he’s addressing to new teammates as well anyways Lu thanks a lot for calling in man I really appreciate it if you want to call in later if you’re still up or whatever when there’s fewer callers lined up definitely go for that okay
Yeah for sure man cheers man thanks okay kick from Studio there’s only 10 Studio spaces so I’m just a little bit worried that someone’s going to try to call in and be um boxed in okay uh Michael what’s going on man wow not much seconding up that’s
Pretty cool um yeah I mean how exciting is this I mean that we were seeing the results of this trade I mean so happy you know so happy I can’t tell you it’s like a different it’s like a totally different team I mean they like they have options now like when when they
Bring in guys off the bench it’s not like oh my God we’re bringing in Scrubs you know it’s like it’s like different looks now like like you bring in Schroeder and he’s I mean I know we’ve been all over him but like he’s played he played pretty effectively tonight as
A like kind of a second unit point guard he you know he distributed the ball pretty well he wasn’t he wasn’t sort of hogging it he you know he kept the ball moving and like then when he when he even when he played sort of with the
First uh Team guys he looked he looked okay like you know who knows I mean I’m I’m probably being pretty like um I don’t know like like uh not not uh like positive towards the guy who know maybe he maybe he thought before the trade he
Had to play like he was to make this team good and now you know like I I have noidea I don’t know what his personality is like but yeah maybe now he sees that he doesn’t need to do that or the coach I think there’s always like an element
Of which is a good thing when you have a trade of guys trying to make an impression on new guys so and then you know habits bleed right so in the last two years the Raptors have brought in Spurs guys Fus Young Who I think had a significant impact on the Raptors when
He was traded as much as people hate that trade for the way it turned out and Etc and Walker kler being so good I think that trade had a positive influence because you know you shipped a guy out and you brought a guy in who had
Very good habits and yaka purle was the same thing last year right we make the trade a little bit later in the season both trades were deadline trades and you know you just feel a shift in the in the team identity sometimes a trade can be a
Good thing because it shakes some stuff up and shaking things up can disrupt bad habits right um Emanuel quickley and RJ Barrett talk a lot on the court they communicate like I was talking to my friend who went to the game said I heard uel quickle more than I’ve heard any
Raptor this year right just talking talking talking the whole time talking in the huddles this communication is infectious see because when somebody doesn’t call out a screen and then the next person doesn’t call out a screen then the whole that can also be infectious so I think that it goes both
Ways so I think that Pascal cakam is not such a disruptive and such a such a dominant personality that he cannot be influenced by a stronger personality I think Emanuel quickle is a stronger personality to be honest so this is a really good thing if this team is going
To vibe to the direction of Emanuel quickley and if they’re going to take their marching orders from Scotty and Emanuel quickley I feel much much more confident and you can see those two have great great communication on the court they’re constantly talking to each other checking in with each other even in
Huddles you’re talking about like okay what could what could we have done differently what are we going to do on the next play this is the type of you know chatter positive chatter that has been missing from the Raptors for a while now in my opinion so yeah any uh any final thoughts
Yeah I guess the the one thing I’m worried about actually that the the comment you just put up makes me laugh because I’m like oh no I hope I hope they don’t all of a sudden think oh yeah we got to keep cakam now because everything’s clicking I mean I think I
Think they they’ve got to keep their perspective and still move on from them because as you were actually as you were saying in your in your opening thoughts like if they have to resign quickly like you don’t want to have siakam’s contract on this roster you know like whatever
They’re going to have to resign so I just hope they they keep I don’t think I said that today no no no but you were saying earlier that that if quickly continues to play like this they’re goingon to have to pay him like tons of
Money and if it and if you have cakam signed for another whatever three four years at whatever money he’s going to get that makes it difficult you know and so it’s like I just I just I just I’m just saying I hope they don’t I hope they keep their heads level and still
Try to shop seak him because you know he doesn’t really fit in like playwise but also like TimeWise I mean he’s gonna be you know time will tell I think defensively is my biggest issue offensively if he get if he continues to hit 37% threes and he’s a
Ball handler and he can defend even reasonably then he does fit yeah the problem is he’s 30 years old that’s it that’s the only that’s the only thing he’s 29 no for sure I agree no I agree and and it’s like by the time this team
Peaks he’s probably going to be like 33 34 and as you’ve said a few times I don’t think it’ll take that I really don’t I I think it could happen in the next two years man anyways I gotta keep the I roll thanks a lot thanks a lot Michael appreciate it all
Right a rare treat NY for wraps and wow both of you all right what’s going on guys same screen same room what’s up yeah we put okay nice love it great game great game great game good um good trade for both teams um New York name you’re being diplomatic
Bro and please please I think it’s a good trade for both teams it this is like the u h Bon and the sabon kind of trade OG was masterful Defensive o was plus 35 today plus 35 so well I’m not looking at the points it’s called 11
Points but it was M like the game he was that we watching the game at the behind us while watching Raptors game well back to Raptors quickly is a delight man oh my God Scot and peepin did you did you see um the pass to to Quicken and letron
Again back back to back threes Scot to quickly quickly to Scotty wow it’s beautiful it’s beautiful to watch man a dyamic one training they they trained once so imagine when they home and train yeah yeah oh yeah I mean when when they figure each other out like they’re smart
They’re both smart players super smart players they they instinctively know how to play basketball when you know when you have guys who actually know how to play basketball RJ is another guy who knows how to play basketball his tunnel vision notwithstanding he has a elevated
Sense of self but he just knows how to play right these guys can fit in very quickly I think one thing I like about it goes hard to the basket it goes through contact so that’s good the T Vision that can be f with coaching yeah no I I fully I fully
Expect RJ to make Leaps and Bounds like improvements uh under Darko I have a feeling that this is going to be you know one you get traded right uh obviously you hear you hear a lot when you get traded you hear the ESPN ification of toxic contract there’s a lot of like
Okay do I need to change do I need to figure some stuff out do I need to rehab my image here um he’s a proud guy he’s a proud guy he works really hard he’s tough I like all of those things um he’s talented he’s really talented he’s a
Really talented player he has holes he has gaps I think these can all be fixed if he’s willing to I think and and he he is not given me any impression that he’s not willing to listen he’s not one of those stubborn knucklehead type prospects and he just exactly it’s not
It does not give me the G Gary Tren vibe that does not want to grow he wants to grow I just think RJ is working with a completely different Talent level right a difference between wanting to grow and wanting to put the work to grow right
Like yeah he’s been in the league for how long and all he does is just to shoot and force shots and things like that like it wasn’t G TR was our weakest link today that’s probably true that is probably true and you know look like look like play again with good pieces
Around him yeah to look good today I’m yeah so you see so at the end of the day looks like we need to apologize to M ji y’all speak for yourself I don’t need to apologize for [ __ ] I was I was I was sitting here in the offseason like trust
In Messi trust in Messi he gets it um yo like I mean you can’t wash away a man’s 20-y year career I’ve seen this guy for a long time assistant GM GM Denver Toronto president whatever he does what he does on his time you know I think that’s what’s
Going on with Pas right now right he’s not going to trade pasca for anything for draft pick so that’s not going to they don’t want draft picks they want something else they want some young CL and maybe a couple of draft picks and we but we need to wait and see where this
Goes though with pasca with pasca and Scotty and with quick to see whether they they connect properly because so far so good that we haven’t really played greater teams to really see what we have but I think the challenge gonna get like better teams now you’re going
To go against Sacramento you’re GNA have an EAS hopefully easy game pardon Sacrament not not really a great te I mean they just lost to Charlotte last night so they might be on Red Alert right now too right um yeah I don’t know I I think um you know losing is not
Beneficial right now even if you’re four games under 500 going into the trade trade deadline you could still you could still sell on seum right so I think there’s a lot of people who think that okay well if they start winning they’re going to they’re going to be like oh SE
Yakum is like the best thing since sliced bread or whatever you got to understand like this is a team that’s been trying to move this guy for two plus years two plus years they’ve been dangling in trades they haven’t gotten what they want I think if anything winning right now strengthens your
Negotiation position because I’m seeing if I’m Indiana or Atlanta or Sacramento or a team that’s struggling right now and I’ve haggling on the seak stuff because I think this team’s going nowhere and I think he’s playing real bad well now suddenly he’s playing really well and they’re playing well and
I might miss my window to trade for this guy and I don’t have I don’t have the cap space in the offseason to actually get exactly someone Indiana arve if they want to get him in the offseason then they’ll have to let go of a lot of
Contct right number one that but number two who the hell who the hell is going to Indiana bro like who’s going to Indiana as a first choice right like these are not free agent destinations the same thing as the Raptors right like but but worse but considerably worse like
No offense to Indiana no offense to Memphis or these are not stamped pre agent destinations so teams like this are going to have to make some Swift decisions and if their haggling points are as well Brooklyn Nets too they might need Pas as well to do something for
Them yeah I mean I I was um I might be off my rocker here but I I have a lot of issues with the Raptors defense right now I don’t have as many issues with their offense I think Scotty and Gary and RJ and you know IQ and these guys
Can figure it out the spacing is a concern defense is a bigger concern for me the Raptors have a very big hole to plug with OG would you consider trading for Draymond yes me too I’m starting to I I thought about it last night and I was
Like man what do you need you need ball handling you need defense you need passing right like this guy is like I’ll flash I’ll we’ll talk about it to where’s the end if somebody wants to come on and talk about Draymond a little bit um we’re talking distressed asset at
33 years old not a guy who’s going to fall off the cliff anytime soon he has four years left on his deal about H hundred million yeah that’s that’s very expensive but you’re currently paying Fus young $8 million to basically warm the bench you got Chris buet out there
Out there for $11 million and if the Golden State Warriors become desperate to get off of his deal now you might have an opportunity to actually do something because he’s still in my opinion and by the Numbers the best switchable big in the NBA that might surprise some people but
Analytically he is still number one in Def in crafted defense you get you get the second dog Raptor Raptor Raptors we don’t like people like like um de M green because of his character but what what is wrong with his character I mean he’s he he
Does some he does some stupid [ __ ] on the basketball court but and and he and he laid out Jordan po I want every Raptor fan who hates Andre Mong green to have one one Honest One honest honest question to ask yourself if you were Jordan P’s teammate how many games would
It take for before you punched him out facts right so I mean I don’t know I think strength and personalities the dog the defensive grit Etc you know the championship pedigree these are all good things if you don’t have to give up anything to get them like you’re just
Basically giving up expiring and [ __ ] and then simultaneously now you can actually move Pascal yakum for less not less but you can basically parlay these into like two different trades but the fact that you got RJ and Emanuel quickly you got your young players right that
You can develop in in place of OG and and precious okay then you get your winning which you need this year Draymond is not going to make you lose this year unless he knocks out Scotty Barnes or something like it’s not gonna happen like these if he fits I think the
Raptors don’t realize how much this city if he was on this team would actually embrace him like we we going back to back like Charles Oakley we still talk about Charles Oakley Charles Oakley was no Draymond Green he was great but he’s no Draymond Green so I think this might
Be a way that the Raptors could then trade Pascal for way less and maybe few future assets like two three first round picks a young player and then just role players you completely reestablish your culture you get dogs you’re not and I mean [ __ ] do you want to face this team
In the playoffs like if they got Draymond quickly Scotty like I wouldn’t want to face this team in the playoffs unless that was the Celtics so I think this is a this is a way to go and maybe you know if if golden state is desperate
To get off of him for expiring I would consider it yeah yeah yeah anyways guys any final thoughts final thoughts um we Chicago lost so we’re ahead of them now thank God thank God we finally we finally youur the Chicago Bulls all right I appreciate it man thanks thank
You guys for calling in enjoy your vacation all right than guys all right all right all right uh we got Jason Jason what’s up man how are you doing hey I’m doing pretty good how about you I’m good apparently I just got to 7,000 Subs that’s awesome thank you thank you
To everybody um what’ you think of the game tonight Jason I have a few thoughts um Emanuel quickly uh I love this weird little skip that does when he sh hits shots but what I really liked I don’t know if you saw it but when RJ hit one
In the corner he was on the bench he jumped up and he was dancing around doing that like it’s not just all about him he’s a very team oriented player so a great observation that’s a great observation he did that for Scotty as well um he was celebrating his teammates
He was giving everyone energy um I just think energy is such an important thing you know there was this report that Steve Kerr had to talk to Klay Thompson about his energy and you know correcting his energy and this is something we don’t talk about enough because we just
Focus on makes and misses but man energy in the locker room on the bus on the plane in the Huddle is so important and one guy can really really if he’s sour enough worried enough anxious enough can really disrupt everything that’s going on so that leads me to my second point I
Wonder how bad OG was in that locker room just the way his game was slipping and just like he just didn’t even seem to like he wanted to be there the last month and a half like I don’t know tough I I don’t think he was a bad energy guy
He just wasn’t a strong energy guy like he wasn’t going to like he wasn’t going to pound you up like you know like he wasn’t going to Pat your chest and tell you big shot bro big shot he wasn’t going to do that stuff he wasn’t loud he
Wasn’t vocal and I think his unassertiveness as a leader you I don’t think he was a bad character guy or anything like that I think his unassertiveness as a leader and lack of dominant personality left the window open for other people to have a bigger influence on the team
Namely Fred Pascal Scotty Gary whoever basically anyone who has a bigger personality than him right so right now I think the Raptors need to do some in-house cleaning I think they need to look at you know some of the guys who’ve been here for a while I think my my my
Look would be Gary um Chris bue thus young and I would just look at these contracts and I would say man that’s almost a Max contract those three guys are almost a Max contract are we getting Max contract production out of those guys not really
And um you know none of them factor to be major parts of the future if they keep playing like this so you know worth looking at Otto as much as I love him he’s once again you know out of the out of the rotation and he hasn’t been
Playing very much that’s another six million so you got like four guys there shoot you know so I think I’m just excited about the talent level of the Raptors right now I think the talent level has been stepping up and you know I love OG I think he’s a really good
Player I wish we still had him I really do I wish that he was still on this team that he was bought in I think this type of Team transition would be so fun to watch with him I mean if you could replace him with zakum right now you’re
So much better you know because you get your defense back um but defense was really good tonight though the defense was really good tonight I think yakob cleaned up a lot I think Emanuel quickley was phenomenal defensively tonight okay so that was going to be my final point it really
Drove me nuts at the end of the game when Darko subbed in um RJ Barrett and took out Emanuel quickly like and he left in Dennis shuder like quickley is the better offensive player he’s a better defensive player and yet you’re taking him out at the in the I don’t
Know it had have been within the last minute I I literally yeah they were going offens for defense I think it might have been more to do with rebounding um on the free throws I know out though right like don’t take that’s fair that’s fair um Darko still trusts
Uh Dennis a little bit more and you know having a vet out there makes him feel secure I’m not going to cry over it I think Dennis’s role within this offense right now has been curbed so much I think part of that is because like I
Haven’t seen a player be able to walk up to Dennis and just demand the ball from him the way quickly does as often as quickly does it’s almost like every single time quickly sees him with the ball he’s like hey little bro pass it over here so it’s it’s been good uh it’s
Been overall like he’s not freezing anybody out of the offense really he’s picking and choosing his spots he’s um attacking Closeouts and you know he’s taking open threes when they leave him open and they will continue to leave him open all season if he stays on his team
So overall no issues with Dennis tonight maybe four more minutes more than I would have liked but really I think those minutes would have gone to Gary Tran if he was producing and he wasn’t so yeah anyways Jason I wish you health and and prosperity and you know um best
Of luck and happy New Year man happy New Year cheers see y okay okay okay we got one two three four more callers okay let’s uh let’s get RJ McLoud on here hey Ghost Face what’s up yeah big up big up on the seven congratulations on the 7K
Thank you very much man um this was a big month for us this trade could not have Happ at a better time honestly um yeah it’s been great it’s been great it’s great time to be a raptor fan I think there have been a lot of raptor
Fans who think for the last two years just kind of sitting this one out you know and they saw the nail it was like yeah let me let me let me start watching this and then you watch it and you’re like oh wow we’re having fun for the first
Time and we feel like a long time absolutely man and it’s fun to watch and you know what’s the most fun thing to watch I don’t have any anxiety about whether or not Emanuel quickly is just going to be gone next year you know what I mean really
No no of course not he’s he’s here he’s here to stay is it his City now yeah yeah I mean he and Scotty can run this town for the next you know six years man they’re going to have a lot of fun with it too um and I think the city will
Support them because they are both tough they’re both vocal they are both uh high high energy High positivity guys you know they they love their teammates they support they’re not selfish uh they’re big Community guys um there’s a lot of overlaps man and I I particularly found it interesting when they talked about
You know um Scotty you know Kayla gray reported the sideline she said Scotty Barnes you know talked about OG anobi and how initially yes he was sad because he came into the league with OG and prece we’ve all seen you know the clip of him winning rookie of the year and
The two guys that were really next to him were OG and precious you know he was crying on their shoulder that’s a Brotherhood they spent a lot of time I know this um that they spent a lot of time together on the road them Christian
Loco right like a lot of time those four so now you lose that and um allegedly M JY sat him down and just explained to him like why this works and he’s trusting it and he doesn’t seem sour he doesn’t seem to be pouting he doesn’t seem to be regressing he’s actually he
Played really well tonight he played great defense I agree I think I think he just really competed hard um I think beautiful Outlet passes beautiful Outlet passes to to man quickly yeah they were great it’s just it’s a it’s one thing to do this at home oh if they had done this
At SCA Bank L the arena would have popped off I think it would have been the loudest this Arena has been in five years but the fact that they did this on the road that crowd was dead tonight their announcers were dead tonight they were just like they were expecting to
Face the Pistons and they got we the north part two man I can’t wait oh my God they go 5 and one on this road trip I’m Dreaming I’m dreaming but yo Memphis was like an almost guaranteed loss and when I saw the Vegas line I was like
What negative one like minus 1.5 Road dogs I like what um that was surprising very surprising so Vegas knew something that I did not know because I did not expect the Raptors to win tonight oh they have faith in his new team everybody goes even my friends that
Aren’t Raptors they tuned into the first game with quickly and thing and they were like the Raptors look good and it was nice to see yeah James saying Memphis isn’t good I think you’re looking at the record bro I think you’re looking atame win streak when jaw came
Back yeah they they’re five- two since JN Mor came back and I don’t judge Memphis Grizzlies prior to johnar being there as like that’s the team you know what I mean they still miss Stephen Adams yes I was a little bit um the reason I was a little bit bearish on the
Raptors tonight was because jiren Jackson Jr and uh what I assumed was going to be a bismack biombo start I thought that front Court could give Pascal SE yakum hell and you know I mean he goes under 24 points but he was very efficient tonight didn’t get blocked a
Lot so I mean you know overall like I think he was okay was good yeah you play a good offensive game yeah yeah um any any uh any any thoughts on the Draymond thing I don’t agree because I want to go younger but I mean you that would be
That would be that would potentially be part of the trade as well um who would like yeah I don’t think you’re getting pods but if if you were get moody as a Thro in on that for in exchange for taking his contract I wonder if Memphis I
Wonder if golden state is just that sick of him right now to just say okay take it oh because of a suspension but he’s so like part of the house that they built like you know I don’t know I mean if if people like casual people always say that you know
It’s it’s Clay and Steph but actual basketball fans know that that Championship was built Draymond yeah it’s Steph and Draymond everything else can change um not diminishing the value of KD not diminishing the value of you know Clay but ultimately it runs on those two and of course there have been like very
Valuable pieces that have come through you know Andre Gala Sean Livingston whatever they’re pieces but the the the foundation of that entire team and their Championship dynasty was those two guys so really it reminds me a little bit of trading for you know um Charles Oakley how’ that work out for us worked
Out great okay I mean it worked out great I mean it was probably before your lifetime it was definitely before your lifetime um but yeah it was great I mean they traded I mean I don’t say it worked out great because you traded Marcus cambi and you know Marcus cambi was
Former number two pick and I love Marcus cambi but it worked out for what you needed at the time because you had a star and you needed an enforcer and this was the thing back then if you have a superstar Vince Carter you need an enforcer and right now I think if you
Have you know a team that is talented you need and and and well coached in my opinion and and you know has development staff you need dogs you need leaders you need you know you need defense God you need defense in the worst way now obviously the complication here is yaka
Purle how do you play yaka purle plus Draymond Green I don’t know maybe yakob moves to the bench and then that’s your Center rotation and I I don’t ever have to see Scotty Barnes guarding Center ever again in my life that would be a good thing um there’s also the spacing
Concern right does Draymond really help your spacing well if he’s replacing yako purle then yes he does he he he he is a much better Defender than yaka purle he’s as good a rebounder as yako purle and he’s a better spacer than yaka purle how does this make you worse it makes
You better immediately and if you get moody yeah you space the floor even more yeah if you get moody in that trade as well I mean that’s 28 29 30 $30 million coming back how do you make the salaries work I don’t know I guess you trade Gary
Tren Jr in that trade but I can live with that yeah exactly but you imagine like even more transition points that they will have with the stop oh my God like the like the the outlet passes that Draymond throws like like I mean I know like here’s the thing like you know you
Don’t get a player like Draymond unless he’s aess distressed asset without giving up assets right and his reputation is just bad enough around the league that depending on how the Golden State Warriors feel about I think it might be a decent decent idea um but I
I’m just looking at like I mean and I’ll definitely go into it towards the end of this live when we get through with the callers um you know just looking at the defensive analytics and just trying to find like who are these great Defenders around the league that might be
Available on teams that are going nowhere you know there’s Alex Caruso there’s Robert cumington there’s mati styo there’s a lot of Defenders that really CRA Tory Craig um Isaac aoro there there’s no no no no I don’t think Isaac aoro will be available um there team’s not going
Anywhere yeah true um Jared Allen I mean I don’t know that that might be tough you know uh an kangu you know if’s going the other way so yeah there’s there’s a lot of uh there’s a lot of guys anyways man any closing thoughts here yeah just
Just like three quick ones um what was it I really want to see joh get more minutes that was one he’s kind of like he’s kind of built like what’s that Center on the the real Greek Freak On The Magic Goa go baz he’s not but okay
You don’t think they kind of built the say no no l is like a way bigger player I Fair of I think he’s bigger in longer but yeah I mean Jon is yeah I mean unless you’re talking play style yeah yeah like like the the way they move is
Somewhat similar okay I would have to watch more but yeah cool what’s your next Point him uh two what it there was this one play where seak like he drove and he held the ball too long and or was in the corner clapping his hands he was
Like yo I was like you know it’s kind of funny it’s kind of ironic that arj was doing the same thing and now um sagum doing it to him um yeah three I never realized it you kind of look like Santi Alama who Santi Alama I look like Santi
Alama man um people people tell people told me like all sorts of stuff uh someone said I look like the OKC coach yeah I’m R told me that yeah I mean I I don’t know whatever I look like I look like a lot of people anyways man thanks a lot bro
Che okay um Anton Merl what’s that on hello okay done um nasif and then Jonathan nasif what’s up hey Rob how are you doing I’m good what’s up congrats on the 7K Subs oh thank you man uh I wanted to talk about that Draymond as as a
Prospect the thing is Draymond you know he makes plays from the top of the key so I was thinking wouldn’t Scotty take up that space as well so in that no that that’s fair I mean Scotty’s draft comp was Draymond interestingly enough but he’s morphed himself into a very
Different type of player and I think by getting Draymond you almost completely negate any idea of Scotty ever becoming that type of player not that he ever could he’s completely different but I just think that he helps your backline defense and he Shores up some of some of
Even your point of attack stuff like I mean when you when you face up against stretch bigs which is let’s admit it half the league I want a guy out there who can actually do something you know he’s boxing out a lot of got Bigs like
Way bigger than them so yeah and I mean like look like Scotty’s uh jumper has been a little bit off uh let’s say four for 15 is not that off fine um it’s not that bad four for 15 from three but I think a lot of it has
To do with the fact that he’s extending himself so much more defensively and I just want you know him to have a little bit of help on there and who better to help than the best defender in the league or one of the five best defenders
In the league as much as people talk about OG being a great defender and he is Draymond is still a better Defender so I yeah I agree I was thinking like also Draymond can adjust like he doesn’t have to just play at the top of the key
So I guess he would but but but the thing I was looking at Warriors contracts none of them would like you know match Pascal’s contract like draymond’s getting 22 right now and pasc getting 37.8 so that would mean like Warriors don’t have any prospects that they can
Give like enough to match the contracts well I wasn’t suggesting trading Pascal for Draymond I was suggesting Draymond as a dump however if they were to trade Pascal for Draymond then I would want a hell of a lot of a hall back I would want their entire yeah because the gap
Between these players is pretty significant in terms of as assets right now um Pascal is playing like a you know especially over the last month he’s been playing like an All-Star and Draymond has been currently suspended for his second such infraction I just think with I mean look
Constructing teams is is a science and an art you know and you have to understand how certain personalities Vibe together Emanuel quickley and Scotty Barnes with Draymond Green Works they vibe all the same right yeah um they’re just they’re tough you know they’re really tough people and yeah
Like that’s that’s the type of thing where like I don’t know it’s interesting when you when you Google Draymond Green Toronto Raptors you get an article where Draymond offers some free advice to the Raptors a year ago last year at this time when the Raptors were on a massive
Losing streak and he’s talking about staying together and believing in yourselves and not looking over the shoulder about who’s going to get traded for what and refocusing and and I was just like what a spiritually positive person Draymond Green is hard to it’s funny um but but it’s true you know um
You can’t just of all the Press he has that’s why here’s the thing you cannot wipe away four years of uh you cannot wipe away four championships the the role that he’s played on those four championships I guarantee you they win none of those without him yeah defensively his analytics his just his
Toughness his leadership to me it’s like you’re bringing Championship toughness and culture to your team granted a little bit over the hill but still very serviceable and if it’s for nothing it’s for very little if it’s for Chris bu and you know expiring oh God I would take it
I don’t think he’s lost steam yet honestly like he really hasn’t plus he’s getting plenty of rest right now he’s gotten plenty of rest the last few years he started his NBA career very late as well he doesn’t have a lot of miles on him and he’s a very interesting athlete
Yeah he’s a little bit smaller so he doesn’t necessarily have all the all the yeah he’s he’s very we saw him on the Warriors how much work he did on like on the bigs so yeah it’s not I don’t doubt his ability it’s WEA yeah plus he has a
He has a great deal of experience working with um sniper guards like uh like Emanuel quickly because he been playing with so he’ll he’ll understand implicitly how to do all of that I think it just reshuffles your leadership on the team for the better uh probably anyways man and any final thoughts man
Uh I tell about the game today’s game was oh my goodness I I stopped watching I think like I don’t know 20 games ago oh go I think last game I watched and then this game I properly watched these are beautiful like uh now we have four
Points of attack off uh like offensive players and like even Dennis he looks really good I I felt he had a really good game today yeah he looks much better I was never screaming uh like even like even those ISO plays they they didn’t look bad he actually made good
Plays because he has the outlet passes as options now instead of like the forc to take shots our team just looks way better now like and the quickly Quickly’s like uh quickly is a really good addition for us for sure because like he has the transition because squatty always was lacking the outlet
Passer uh like the the receiver of the outlet pass and quickly is probably one of the guys right and he’s also like he has a really quick like job step and a pull up jumper from three that’s like really deadly on transition I was watching the highlights for and he’s
Like he’s been one of the best editions I think he’s going to get us probably to the playoffs I think actually all right man see thanks a lot for calling in man appreciate it all right yeah Cheers Cheers see y um Anton you’re back what’s up can you hear
Me yeah I can yeah nice all right well thanks a lot Rob for holding this forum for all of us sad Raptors fans last two years and and uh but I want to jump on the Draymond stuff because I think he can be a man we need a dog
The we got two yeah but imagine Draymond punching [ __ ] quickly or s s uh like giving a hit to Scotty that Championship pedigree uh like he’s uh he’s he can be the the man to take us to the next level with all these young guys and
Uh yeah I just think like damn dude we can get Draymond on this team damn I think it’s a do you have headphones I do I’m outside in BC got a bear in my G earlier but yeah I can throw on some headphones okay um if I can have you
Call in back cuz what happens is I have to mute you every time I talk because if I don’t then I hear myself talking while I’m talking which is very distracting so if you can come back right after the next call I would really appreciate it
Yeah okay thank you so much uh Jonathan what’s going on um your mic’s off bro your microphone is off mic’s off bro y hey how’s it going it was the streamyard ad pushed the mute off sorry uh I couldn’t I was like trying to flick it my screen wouldn’t go
Up I’m on the phone still I’m in Quebec anyways uh very quickly congrats on the 7K on the way to 700k um no I’m serious dude like this this this [ __ ] you have cooking is better than barbecue so um next uh great game all around I’ll say one positive
Thing like everybody’s gonna say all the things so I thought Dennis was great with um jaw I I thought he uh he did a really good job of uh like kind of clipping that [ __ ] and pardon the French and um the the other thing I was going
To say is uh the Draymond piece I don’t know if you were reading my notes or if you were going through I I I was uh thinking the very same thing yesterday and I know I know it seems kind of like a wild take given the the negative nature of
Everything surrounding him right now but that’s exactly why it works exactly why it works the by low and uh get the upside is it’s it’s a no-brainer so um I’ll call in later um I’ll just let everybody do their thing and we can go through the
Reviews but uh a very very big congrats on the 7K man you deserve this thank you so much appreciate it love all yours okay thanks man all right uh Sherry what’s going on jeeez there goes the troll all right as always when we get one troll we must
Vet for all trolls and therefore um any person coming on has to flash their mic on flash flash their camera on before uh you come on anyways okay we got through the callers real quick and now there are no more callers jez every I’m trying not to get mad there’s
Always that one guy Jared o saying always that one guy hell yeah there was always that one guy anyways uh take a minute to just say thank you to all of you for getting us to um don’t react that’s what they want oh absolutely oh I’m I’m in Zen
Mode right now my team got a a guard who can finish on all three levels who can pass quickly quickly no pun intended yo like I don’t I’m on my vibe bro like there’s not a lot that you’re going to say to me right now that’s going to
Bring me off of this um okay there’s a there’s a link if you want to call in you got something to say absolutely call in um yeah we can we can we can bump off the Draymond talk and maybe talk about it a little bit later in terms of what I
Really saw from the team you know let’s talk about RJ Barrett right I think RJ was um interesting tonight right he goes um you know let’s see here goes 9 for 14 s sorry that was that was Pascal sorry he goes um you know five for 12 you know
Overall I think the the overall shots were were decent for him tonight um I don’t think he’s quite like some of the shots he takes drive me completely crazy like you know there’s that shot and he gets bailed out on the foul it’s like you should have passed that like a long
Time ago right like that that should have happened so I’m looking at that and I’m saying you know Darko has to has to work with this guy to really improve some of his decision- making and Court vision and I think he can you know overall the pace
That this team is playing with right now how much um gravity these players have like you notice immediately immediately there is such a difference in how teams are guarding Emanuel quickly versus how they were guarding the Raptor’s former guards it just it’s really night and day um all
Right let’s let’s bring on Coach Mo here coach Mo what up man was this not the most fun game of the year just watching it oh yeah it was by far not even close there’s no close second um I don’t think last year there was anything close to this great I don’t
Know if Raptor fans can go outside after the Pistons lost but I mean you can open your curtains you can open your curtains and light some light in you know what I’m saying um yep one thing I do not like is Scotty Barnes being the new primary perimeter Defender that has to
Stop it has to be RJ Barrett Step Up RJ Barrett you’re not asked nearly to do as much on on offense Scotty Barnes has two rebounds he’s our best rebounder our best rebounder can have two rebounds now today we won today we won and we won the
Rebound battle by three but I don’t think it’s sustainable and it’s a long-term plan to have arguably your best well your best player play 40 minutes guard the bre their best player perimeter non- Center player he’s not their best rebounder just to be clear um their best rebounders are yaka purle and
Probably Chris bue now that you have pressure suchu Aon he’s probably your third best rebounder I can probably verify that via the stats but yeah SE yakum has been an abysmal rebounder this year I think which complicates the issue but ultimately where how you okay so think how often you rebound what you
Rebound or how often you rebound matters on so many levels number one how the other team is like like how they’re playing offense they’re taking a lot of long shots a lot lot lot of long rebounds if you’re playing on the perimeter and they’re and they’re attacking the paint you’re just not in
Position to grab rebounds yeah but this low rebounding this is his second game of low rebounding because it’s his new assignment with the team of you’re the Quasi new OG okay right so his his if this is what it is and he’s right now our best option
Because of his length and his size but I think for for the health of the season and for like I don’t think it’s sustainable I know he’s 22 but like play 40 minutes guard their best player be our best playmaker be our second or leading scorer it’s like it’s it’s a lot
Going on and I think there are guys on the team that could step up and I think it has to be Barrett as a primary option right now if you get switched and whatever there’s a bunch of cross matchups sure but like I think it’s a
Lot I think it’s a lot I think in order for Scotty to be a hang back big defensively um I think yaka PTO probably has to be more of a perimeter oriented player especially when team space you out with a guy like jiren Jackson Jr right so
When you play a more traditionally you know grinded out team like maybe the Knicks right I’m sure that Scotty will have more rebounds and probably guard a little bit closer to the basket um I was thinking you know Pascal is a def definitely a better Defender than RJ
Barrett yeah he is definitely he is so why can’t Pascal be the new OG for now he’s already Hitt he’s already hitting the corner threes we know that’s not happening but another reason why everything we were trying to develop OG into Pascal can do it yeah he can he can
Dribble he can pass he can do all the stuff that OG struggled to do with way more naturally if he can hit Corner threes and actually defend up to his capabilities he’s like OG plus two you know what I mean yeah but he might never
Be the defender that OG is even in his prime but he’d be like he’d be like 80% of OG defensively if he tried really hard I know that he has a physical tools to do that um but the reason why I wanted to be Barrett is because
Barrett’s gonna be here for a few years so he might as well at least get those reps like if we’re going to do development with Barett it’s like fix getting his decision- making and his playmaking skills up he’s never going to be a a great playmaker but getting it up
Right especially in transition but also get some of the wing players that I’ve seen playmake for this team honestly he feels like a revelation uh at least two times a game he makes a read where I’m like dope you know um there’s it’s so so it’s funny like someone messaged me and
They said um or someone was commenting on Twitter they said it’s much harder to make a player who’s naturally unassertive assertive than it is to make a player who’s naturally assertive a little bit less assertive I don’t think I want RJ Barrett to be less assertive I
Just want him to see openings when they present themselves and I think that when he does a film study with Darko he’s going to be able to show him like Hey you see that right there that was open for you that was open for you and here I
Want you to take and the cool thing about Darko is he’s not rigid like he doesn’t want you to be like okay this is the way we’re playing and that’s the way we’re playing and he’ll meet you halfway you’ll be like what kind of player do
You want to be you want to be a player who does this you want to be a player who does that well if you want to be a player who does that we’re going to do this and if you want to be a player who does this we’re going to do that he
Gives the players options he psychologically very much understands how to communicate with athletes which is why I think I was very pleased that on a national broadcast we got that um Desmond Bane plugin for uh for for Darko rakovich I was like that’s that’s very good I’m I’m glad I hope that people
People hear that and people can see that um yeah so that’s my one concern is uh just having Scotty wear way too many hats on a team that’s now more talented right before we we got it especially when OG went down it was like it is what
It is but I I think we need to Scotty needs to remove like a hat at least if you’re going to play him high minutes another thing to me is um boy Gary sweating Gary sweating if I were him I’d be sweating because uh competition just went up and
You laying eggs now yeah you you’re not starting and we don’t need you to play well anymore no we need you to play well anymore we need him to play well bro bro you want 38 minutes of Dennis schroer because that’s where you’re headed right
Now you need you need him to play listen you know me you see my picture you think I’m I’m a shooter fan I’m I’m I want to throw a parade because he played 29 okay but okay if if Gary Trent Jr is going to be a walking turd every
Night I mean my goodness you making 18.5 million you can say goodbye to that [ __ ] I mean wave that goodbye he’s in a tough position I think no most no more excuses how many how long has it been because last year we want to blame nurse
And I was I was on that train with you and a bunch of people I said it was nurse it was it was the culture it was this and that with Malachi with precious with Gary whatever Barnes had a bad year okay but at some point when is it on
Gary dude it’s it’s always partially on him I’m just saying like it doesn’t um like and you think he pressure now you think he’d have less pressure now because we don’t need him to perform right before we really needed him I argue you still need him because he’s a considerably better shooter than
You know your other options here and you have two mean you have one starter now uh two starters really that are negative spacers if you if you really want to see okay now interestingly enough RJ Barrett not a great shooter right not a great shooter not a great three-point shooter
Whatever but I was noticing the def that that they that Taylor Jenkins was much much more comfortable leaving SE yakum open than him right so you still have three negative floor spacers right now and somehow you’re making it work with beautiful spacing because honestly IQ just does that much for you right yeah
You’re still kind of like below average what was interesting was seeing jonte Porter in because suddenly you overwhelmed the odds now if you were to let’s say play the following lineup just as a hypothetical theoretical lineup let’s say you were to place Emanuel quickley Scotty Barnes Gary Trent Jr Otto Porter and jont
Porter oh my God I know I know can you imagine the spacing you would have like you might have spacing out to the parking lot okay so jonte Porter man I I’m sure you guys talked about him but we were such a homeless shelter franchise that watching
Jonte Porter play and not make any mistakes and just play solid we’re like thank God this dude is nice he’s not precious he’s not he’s not air air air oh oh there was some potential there air air we’re not doing that anymore it’s just aush of fresh air just just a fresh
You know perspective on this jonte is uh 24 years old he will not be 25 until next season okay how precious how old’s precious same age yeah yeah he’s 24 so here’s the point you found okay so here are the young players that I really like on this team Scotty IQ jonte Grady
Koko um Javon preman Liberty that’s six I do not have six players six young players I liked on this team before here’s one young player that I could really come around on and I hope I come around on a lot Barrett that’s seven that’s great what I like about
What I really like about Barrett is he he has this weird Knack of making some something out of nothing like that dude can play in a freaking foam Booth yeah no he he he navigates tight quarters really well uh for you know all of his warts as a player his handle is
Tight enough and his body like he has um okay so I remember playing this point guard once who killed me and I don’t think I ever been killed by a point guard that much because I’m not very strong I don’t tell if you can look by the anything if you
Can tell that by the look of me but I’m not super strong guy I’m not like I’m not overly uh beefy lower body and there was this one guy we played I remember this was like I don’t remember was it bendale or I can’t remember what school
It was but this dude had such a high center of gravity and he had this Big Caboose he was was the version of Chuck and bro this guy got me in the post and I was like I feel like I’m facing off against a [ __ ] dumpster truck like this this
It just it’s coming at you man and it’s physical and that’s RJ Barrett basically man he’s got a high center of gravity it’s a very difficult type of guy to guard in the post he moves you he like physically moves you around if you’re a
Wing and for his size like he’s 6667 610 611 wingspan but man like this dude is just he’s strong like he’s super strong he’s like OG like I I I would I would venture he and OG are pretty close in terms of coated on balance but he’s more
Coordinated and on balance and that is the difference right so in the in the same situation he’s going to do a spin move and he’s going to find himself under underneath the basket but he’s not going to trip over his own feet right so
Yeah I I think if the defense can get a little bit better I think today it was competent competent defense I also think what this does for the Raptors down down the line is it opens up this very potent unique potential to have him as a big
Defender yeah because the solid base if he becomes a post Defender for you right if he’s if he becomes a he becomes a guy who guards centers in small ball lineups or or power forwards you know if teams go small and they have a one big in
There and he can sort of provide something on him like how much how much smaller is he than o OG or precious auua it’s not that drastic a size difference but he just might be like yeah he he’s got something there um in terms of his
Post defense an in shorter he’s like an in shorter he doesn’t have the wings span but yeah sure but but you know like here’s the thing his head is really small so where where where are his shoulders relative to OG’s I would venture to say they’re exactly on par I was shocked
When when I found out that RJ was 66 and a halfs because he felt 69 to me he’s like the most 69 66 guy ever yeah yeah yeah I know I know so last I check guys don’t guard with their head heads Big Head guys get a lot of inches on their
On their height that don’t really [ __ ] count long neck guys same thing Chris Bosch exactly right did Chris Bosch ever feel 610 611 to you no exactly because he had a long fck neck it was all face up all face up yeah so so that’s exactly it so I think that RJ
You know has the potential to play up a little bit um it’s funny because I listen to people say all the time that he’s too small to play small forward I’m like what that’s that’s crazy to me he’s he’s a forward to me and yeah I I don’t
Give a [ __ ] about the height and stuff because last I checked Draymond Green is basically like the same height as RJ Barrett and he’s guarding Center so it’s not about height it’s about it’s about your physical tools that you have where your hips start um strength you know all
These things matter length all these things matter so yeah one thing um you know when you were making these uh positive videos uh about like our future after the trade and all these young players sure one thing that I really like is and things are changing especially when Darko was talking about
The gry dick and um the we have for him and then hopefully he’s going to be in the rotation in like a month and then you’re seeing uh Porter play and it’s like okay we can see the light at the end of the tunnel it’s like okay we’ve been screaming at the heavens
What are we doing with the 905 what’s a farm team if you if you bear no fruit you know what I mean right if none of the 95 ever touch the main team what’s the point of its existence we haven’t seen that in a while so things are
Looking up and if this was an egalitarian offense quickley would be our leading scorer 100% he was our leading scorer no I’m saying he would lead the team in scoring for the year if this was if there were no names or numbers on the back and you knew nothing
And you were just a fresh coach that you got dropped on planet Earth he’d be the leading score you’re that high on him huh yeah he’s that nice he is nice he’s really nice and look man there like this this channel took a lot of slander last year
For for being very bodycentric right Scotty got to be Point Scotty got to do this Scotty got to do that would you understand why because he was the only one it’s not it’s not some sort of [ __ ] agenda you know against the entire world that oh my God it’s Scotty
Over everything yeah he he was the only he he was the dog yo like I mean [ __ ] like people don’t understand like there’s levels to potential and upside and and and game and IQ and all that stuff right when I when I talk to a scout like they they say that’s my five
Star that’s my four star that’s my three star that’s my two star and that’s my I don’t talk to them you know and five stars are rare most teams be lucky to have one some are lucky enough to have two Shaq and Kobe right you look at five
Stars in the NBA as very different than five stars in college or in high school because you’re looking at like if I if I was to rank out The League Scotty’s a five-star recruit you know he’s a he’s a Top Flight Talent he’s an all-nba guy for going forward
Will he ever be an MVP I don’t know Champion I don’t know but he’s that level of talent talent comes from the six inches between your ears it’s also your physical tools I look at Scotty Barnes as a prospect three years ago and I said there’s nothing stopping him from
Being great and I look at his personality profile nothing stopping him from being great when I see Emanuel quickly I say same [ __ ] same thing clearly I think Scotty’s a better Prospect and better player and all that stuff but that doesn’t matter what I’m trying to say is the same thing um is
That he can be on that level with you he can be a starting player on on a championship team 100% agree can be a starting starting player you already have two you have two pieces right now you can you can you can book on the starting lineup of the next Raptor title
Team in and theoretically you already have two yeah you do and I think that you know uh now with if you do make another trade you got to find three and four yes um and then you got to somehow work the magic with RJ Barrett to make him into
Five because he’s talented and I think and I think one of the things you can do is putting him on like maybe not the best player but the the maybe the second Some Nights the first as like a development because this year we’re not really going to do much I want to get
Into the plan I want I want the Spurs to take our pick I don’t want our 20 25 pick in question I don’t anybody that does thisi insane give them the pick now I don’t care if it’s seven doesn’t matter to us if we give him uh 20 or or
Seven that just makes you feel better at the end of the day I don’t care yeah but no for sure I I think you need to make him a better uh decision maker a better playmaker and I think you need to make him a better Defender and the only way
To do that is to throw him in the fire and I think he can handle it because he’s from New York he played for the Knicks and he’s now he’s 23 so it’s like he’s not a pup I think you just do instead of telling Scotty to guard this
Guy then guard that guy then guard this guy it’s like he if he if we’re gonna do anything he needs the guys with him to be ready and you got to throw them in there too can’t I I think there’s an understated value of actually winning um
You know you have Emanuel quickle right now right he is not okay so two two two interesting notes here and then we’ll we’ll see if we can find some postgame analysis and and you know the the postgame interviews and stuff and move on to that I don’t want to do such a
Long live today I want people to be able to check this out tomorrow and just get the overall gist of Happiness without the overwhelming you know negativity of oh my God it’s it’s four hours um RJ Barrett in the playoffs has been phenomenal I’m gonna say that with a
Straight face regular season not so great playoffs [ __ ] phenomenal would you would you believe me that RJ Barrett has a higher box of spinus in the playoffs than Pascal seak no I’ve watched Pascal seak in the playoffs exactly so career over career RJ Barrett has stepped up in those big moments
Through two series he’s been fraking amazing I think through I don’t know two series three series he’s been great um let’s piss um what’s what’s this Draymond Green thing they’re talking about huh is there a Draymond Green trade proposal or something oh I I I propose it I’ll I’ll I’ll take ownership
For that I’m I’m you don’t have to talk about it just say it what what’s The Proposal um Chris bue and thadius young and um utto Porter for for Draymond the Warriors would do that I don’t think they would it depends I would do it though i’ do it draymond’s
Got four years left on a steal I’m talking about trading three guys that you’re not playing that you the yaka ptle contract and the Draymond Green contract together hey no I I feel you but that’s like yaka Perle moose the bench after this trade so who’s starting center
Draymond yeah I mean Draymond has a best as good a chance of stopping imid than yob as yakob does so whatever like for real he has a much better chance what do you mean as good he has a much better chance of start stopping embiid I’m just saying I mean look uh oh
Whoa Gary Trent sorry so Gary Trent’s in that deal instead of auto porter and then and and then they throw in Moses Moody so that would be good ridd and nothing against Gary but it’s just it’s just another uh question mark removed kind of thing you know what I mean
Yeah yeah yeah yeah I mean I don’t know man so so the other side of it was um I said that RJ has been great in the playoffs Emanuel quickley has not been great in the playoffs he’s been abysmal in the playoffs actually borderline unplayable in the playoffs I don’t want to shine
Too much light on this because while it has happened I don’t think it’s that big a deal and you know it’s it’s one of those weird things you coming off the bench you get it going you don’t get it going um specific matchups whatever you know you could you have a cold streak
But it’s happened a couple years now so R smaller guys struggle potentially yeah I mean Kyle Lowry uh you know had had some very early playoff struggles as well so what I would say is that as as a raptor team that’s looking to you know really cement
My future Direction going into next year there’s a couple things things I really want to see number one I’d love to see Scotty in this iteration of Scotty in the playoffs hopefully healthy I would like to see if there’s another level that he can take because that’ll change
My thinking um I would love to see Emanuel quickley and RJ Barrett in the playoffs and see if one’s positive and one’s negative Trends continue or if they both flash positive they both flash negative I think you I think you can tell a lot about players um because
Let’s be honest you saw you saw Scotty sky for that rebound last game at the end of the heavens um there was a there was a there was a tweet that said I don’t think a defensive rebound has been more defensively rebounded than that rebound was like it was Insanity right anime uh
One of those anime basketball rebounds exactly and so I look at a I look at a thing like that and I’m just like you know that players don’t go balls out every minute of every game right like everyone knows that only the media asks Barnes to do that and nobody else sure
So what I’m saying is that in the playoffs you get a very good idea of how guys react to very tight situations tough situations and I think that that would be very good Intel for this team I was listening to a podcast today uh where they were talking about whether
OKC should blow it up or if they should not blow it up sorry if they should if they should go all in right now if they if they’re the team that needs to make the trade for Draymond or Pascal or something like that and people are just
Like you know I think they have another year if they just want to see what these guys are because they haven’t yet they haven’t team and does Chad hren you know fade in the playoffs does Shay have you know his considered impact what about the young players on this team because
This is a very good team right now and I think if you are the Raptors you might be in the same boat you know where you have a lot of young players and you want to see them and you know I would feel the same way about Christian Koko uh if
He can get healthy Grady if he can get into the lineup did I mention Christian Koko in the in the in the yes I did thank God in the young players that I’m very excited about so yeah that’s the thing right I I really desperately um think that the
Raptor should try to make the playoffs and RJ RJ Barrett being your being your primary attack Defender is not going to get you to the playoffs no no no no if we’re in the playoffs you scrap that I’m saying you do that in a couple games in
The regular season as bro but I’m trying but okay like maybe you can do that against Washington where you give him run on you know Jordan P maybe you start him out on the like the the the leading score and see how badly that burns you give him give him the role and
Responsibility allow him to fail and then adjust so maybe you give it four minutes and if he’s doing a good job then he stays and if he’s not doing a good job then you switch but here’s my thing with the Scotty thing it was like OG was asked to do that because
Obviously he’s great at it but also he was never really had on ball reps like he wasn’t asked to be a playmaker ball handler right he was more of a scorer finisher so like his workload was a lot but it was manageable I feel like Scotty’s workload offensively and then
Asking him to be OG on defense that’s just that’s that’s borderline Insanity right you know what I mean also there’s a question from the chat Doug smth AKA Mark Anderson um that could be either Doug Smith or Mark Anderson but he said I’m sorry who you got in the first round
Magic or Raptors good question uh Raptors me too this iteration of the Raptors hell yes previous iteration of the Raptors no oh yeah but I but I would trust I would trust that RJ and Scotty can do enough to stop Paulo and um what the France and I think yeah I mean like
They’re a better team overall but in terms of the matchup like I mean honestly I I do I do worry about uh Emanuel quickley and Pascal SE yakum against that much length I I do I worry about any small guard against that much length and I worry about Pascal against
Length all the time so that would be my concern but yeah I think it’d be close I think it’d be close I don’t think that team’s as good as people think it is I don’t think we’re as bad as people think we are so I I think there are three teams and
Indiana was going to be one of them where but they kind of fell off already Minnesota OKC and Orlando are gonna run into they’re they’re gonna find out what playoff basketball is really about like those three teams specifically OKC has the best chance because they just have
By far the best player of the three teams MH but yeah they they’re gonna they’re going to run into like you can’t you can’t transfer regular season momentum into the playoffs after a certain point it means absolutely nothing regular season say that again you can’t you can’t you can’t convert
Regular season momentum and Vibes when you’re facing a team that’s really like second round quality or above and they’re battle tested yeah it means nothing I think it’s just a good bonding experience yeah I know you know for the team especially for a team that doesn’t have a draft pick especially with the
Draft being as weak as it is you know there’s a lot of upside to doing it this way and I would personally like to see them do it this way and I would like love to see you know it’s just like playing to win is very good it it
Fosters great habits you know for this team I think that would be a really really uh good thing record because I’m thinking so right now we we’re on a two game win streak pizza party uh oh darko’s gonna have to call Pizza Pizza but um he’s not gonna be he’s not gonna
Be in Toronto he’s not gonna be in Toronto oh man so they’re gonna and I hope and I hope to God they get better Pizza than pizza pizza bro Hey listen don’t don’t sleep on cre creamy garlic dipping sauce that’s the only thing okay chat what’s is is pizza is pizza pizza
Good pizza bro no I think so it’s cardboard it’s it’s cardboard it’s cardo cre garlic dip the creamy garlic dipping sauce over there is is crack what’s what what what’s what’s your what’s your favorite pizza man what’s my favorite pizza you Papa John’s guy are you Pizza
Hut guy are you Domino’s guy I don’t know yo you know what I actually like the Pizza Hut they’re oily but I like I like Pizza Hut pizza even though it’s really oily like you should eat that once a year like it’s like melting through the bottom of the box right
Um someone saying Pizza Hut is better Pizza Pizza is dominoes is better Pizza Pizza is the worst everyone knows that but their dip is the best their dip Paradise Lost and I like Artisan Pizza uh bil Kebab Pizza um Paul B shoot me talk about the
Game what everybody needs to do is this is what I do you get pizza from a quality pizza spot but you go to Pizza Pizza to get their cream and garlic dip like you just buy the dip for pizza pizza that’s it that’s all they’re good for I’m
Surprised no I’m surpris surprised no one said Pizza Nova that’s interesting to me yeah and it’s so disrespectful it’s so disrespectful by the way rob you go to pizza pizza and you say yeah give you two dipping sauces and they look like sometimes they look at you and they’re
Just feel like you bought pizza from somewhere else didn’t you it’s like yeah I did know right give me the dipping sauce I knew a guy who who said yo what’s the most dipping sauce I can buy I need to fly this dipping sauce out to
My relatives in the states they need to try this wow he’s like flying H um wait it’s okay I I get confused sometimes they play the they play the Kings not tomorrow the next day right yes there’s no back to back until it’s the two LA games okay good so let’s
Let’s just flash up the the thing for a second because it says tomorrow and I’m like right we’re past 12 oh by the way vote for Scotty Barnes vote. nba.com I was supposed to remind y’all yesterday throw quickly in there now too throw quickly in there too now quickly Scotty
Barnes vote RJ Barrett vote Pascal seak I don’t care but like you know vote for quickly and Scotty for sure 100% so I was having this uh I was having this conversation with my brother about when the Knicks and the Raptors play obviously OG wants to beat his old
Team everybody wants to beat their old team but I don’t think it’s personal for OG but I think it’s personal for quickley and RJ barar to beat the Knicks I think it’s personal for those two hell yes I think they want to destroy the Knicks OG he’d like a win but OG’s
Getting a standing ovation if it’s at home or on the road but I I think those guys it might be a double-edged sword where they might be so eager to beat their old team because I’m I’m pretty sure they’re not a fan of tibs right so
That’s gonna be I don’t know if they’re not a fan of tibs um I think anyone wants to get a win against their old team like who wouldn’t want to win against their old team of course but RJ’s not a fan of tibs I can tell you that
Well he did kind of soft one out yes misuse him put him in in it put him like nothing around him to succeed and he still was okay RJ with with RJ on the starting lineup with with Mitchell and and and uh Randall it’s like that’s that’s that was like our starting lineup
Was like Randall’s a stunk yeah okay so we got the Jazz we got okay we we got we got five team five five games coming up Kings Warriors Lakers Clippers Jazz what’s the realistic outcome of this we’re six games under 500 right bro yo quick question like which relates to this do
You think um quickley played great did he do anything he couldn’t do the next game no I think he actually like weirdly enough I think he missed a lot of shots that I think he’s that’s what I’m saying he could have 35 tonight easy like easy he’s a 25 Point per game
Player right now that’s what it seems like and that was the projection from him coming in and that’s that’s what uh Messi and Company salting over this guy quickly is legit yeah he really is and I think I also said Pizza NOA by the way oh okay
Twice that [ __ ] is tight P NOA is pretty good I mean I don’t want to give him too much of a shout out because I’m not sponsored by piz NOA and there’s no money in it for me to say that but yes if you are someone who still orders from
Pizza Pizza you need to get your life right but jingle too it’s convenient sometimes it’s convenient sometimes you just you’re hungry and you need to shove something down go to McDonald’s then eat [ __ ] Bro go to your toilet ball H go to your local toilet ball it’s not that much
Worse than pizza pizza bro here’s here’s the funny thing so so when we came to Canada um Pizza Pizza had this like really cool thing where they had arcades I don’t know if I’m misremembering this but I believe they had arcades right like they had Street
Fighter and [ __ ] in in in the pizza pizza that I remember and that’s like my first good memory of pizza pizza and ironically is also my last good memory of pizza pizza so that was 23 24 years ago are what am I talking about 20 years
Ago 20 years ago 20 yeah 24 [ __ ] I’m shim 23 years ago so yeah that’s that’s pretty much where it is Billy saying Sweden has the best pizza Billy come on you guys have bananas and [ __ ] like like bananas and some they have like banana Pizza is a huge thing
Over in Sweden that is not good I mean you know it’s coming from the country that has pineapple pizza but I’ve I’ve tried banana pizza and it’s not good have you tried pineapple pizza though I do it all the time pineapple green olives and hot peppers all the time every
Day but I’m weird like that I’m trying to think like I have someone in my life that is just like so vehemently against this concept of putting um pineapples on Pizza well then don’t put tomatoes on it what it’s a fruit like I don’t understand the logic like people have different tastes like
Some people the 4our de whether or not let’s talk about the game let’s talk about the road trip the road trip road trip is going to like mess with people’s heads straight up fleece so living in fleece Town yeah I mean the strength of schedule thing is a little bit weird
Right because technically strength of schedule is not formulated based on who’s healthy who’s not it’s it’s most of it is just based on um and we’re not the team of record shows us to be at this point we’re a new team just like the Pistons so what what I’m trying to
Say is that strength of schedule is facturing in previous record right so it’s looking at the average record of the teams you’re playing so now if you’re playing a team that’s you know Ma massively over 500 but they’re missing the best player then they’re probably a
Bad team and if you’re playing a team like the Grizzlies I mean you can’t judge them by the record because they’re much better than their record suggest so weirdly enough the Raptors had a middle of the- pack strength schedule going forward and now we are in you know game
One out of six on the road and yeah it doesn’t um six in a row on the road yeah aren’t they all on the road yeah they’re all on the road uh the next game at home is Boston oh wow what a what a gift to come home to and then
You have Miami so you have Boston and Miami so really I mean this team is looking at 10 games right look at it as a 10 game sample starting we’re three and three on this trip we’re three and three worst case scenario I believe worst case scenario yeah I think the
Talent level of C I think the the the fourman duo of bar Barrett Barnes cakam and and quickly if they’re healthy with with shudder Off the Bench I don’t think we lose to Bottom Feeders anymore I think we’re just there’s just too much talent to lose to Bottom Feeders yeah
Spicy bar where before we struggled on offense so much and we had such horrible rotations and we had like quasi NBA players like three or four of them on the court playing it’s like those days are over like I just over after two games pH I think there’s the honeymoon
Phase of of quickly and be right I just I think there’s always a phase where the team that you know receives players the the players don’t understand the culture of that team so they bring in the culture of the old team and then it meshes and then at some point you know the
Overwhelming Force goes back to who are you really you know right now I think a lot of the new guys are I mean these are weirdly enough these are these are not nobody’s no right Emanuel quickle uh and RJ Barrett are not nobody’s they’re names that average NBA fans recognize
They’re young players with a bit of cache buzz you might argue that there are fans out there who probably you know if you would ask them this off season who’s a better player Emanuel quickley or Scotty Barnes the average fan if you ran that poll on uh not rap
Related you know Forum before the season yeah before this season I think Emanuel quickly wins that vote so these are not nobody’s these are not especially in New York but honestly anywhere in the United States that that probably go that probably goes in iq’s favor yeah it two
Years ago if you ask the average fan RJ Barrett or Hask yakum who would you rather have it’d be close it wouldn’t be right 5050 two years ago two three years ago that’s the no in terms of potential yeah that was that’s a fair question in terms of would
You trade like like the the would you trade argument of okay let’s say three years ago RJ was in a second year so let’s say you say to Nicks fans would you would you give us RJ Barrett for Pascal yakum most of them say no at that point they hadn’t quite lived through
The entire RJ experience at that point so what I’m trying to say is that these are names these are not thus young at 33 and he no offense to yaka purle this is not yaka purle it’s not like role player necessarily these are you know guys who
See themselves or have been seen in the league as stars not full Stars not fully developed Stars they’re young etc etc come on but still um yeah unlocked by Aiden Mohammad has lost his mind come on man LOL what LOL what what Aiden are you are you
12 Pascal’s a champion so is so is it does doesn’t matter I’m talking about how a casual Nicks fan would probably process the information they don’t care just gonna say no the Jordan pool argument again so is Jordan pool buddy yeah and he and he’s uh the leader of
Has a Funko Pop like people know who he is man and he’s trash yeah Rob Rob interesting uh you know how we the Pascal trade and all that it’s like you want to take a team when they’re down the lake I don’t know what we can get for the Lakers the
Lakers suck they’re right now losing uh to the heat it’s looking Grim out there they they tried the starting lineup today they started Reeves they’re throwing they’re throwing anything at the wall and hope it sticks okay I think this team is right for the pickings they they’re going to do
Whatever it takes what you think there’s an opportunity here what would you want Austin Rees they’ll never give him up that’s never happening for for Pascal no not not the Lakers absolutely not you would trade Pascal seak for Austin Reeves no I wouldn’t you think you think
Would you would you do a would you do a Dennis shooter uh D’Angelo Russell swap no that’s how much I don’t like D’Angelo Russell yeah I don’t well I’m saying in the fact that you break up uh uh Darko safety blanket and turn him into a real
Coach I like I like Dennis coming off the bench like if keep Le if you keep a leash on him and you like I think three to five minutes too much tonight but other than that like y he had a solid outing yeah I I like I’m
Likeing CL JW I like him him whoa clamp okay sorry clamped was aggressive um the only thing contained the only thing I don’t like about the Dennis situation is it’s still happened today where it’s like the other team goes on a low run and it’s like Dennis it’s like that thing is still
Annoying yeah it’s still a little bit like that for sure like I I I can’t wait for the day where Darko realizes we can win without Den like we don’t need Dennis to win games but here’s the thing and this is where I always want to be
Fair right as much as I can I’m not trying to be you know know the Dalai Lama of the Raptor’s Twitter sphere here but as much as an issue that we had with Dennis Scher you know as a starter being Bal dominant Etc isn’t it veering on hating if you
Can’t adjust our if we can’t adjust our opinion if he addressed this game I’ve always said that like with Pascal sakam Fred vanley and other players whove D driven me up the wall when they’ve played better I’ve always changed my my thinking on them and if they play again
Back to where they are I’ll change again and that’s just it you can’t like I just I don’t like this irrational hating on somebody you know what I mean I’m not I’m not I’m not hating on him I like his I like him in his new role it’s just the Dennis overuse
It’s what more you done tonight what more you you you just came out and said you trade Gary Trent basically for a bag of pretzels so what exactly do you want Darko to do in this case you don’t have auto porter available you don’t want Scotty playing any more minutes I trust
Me you don’t want more RJ Barrett than you got tonight you know he’s you don’t want you don’t want RJ ending games you don’t want RJ ending games it’s not that I don’t want him ending games dude but it’s like RJ is the type of player right
Now at 23 who can cost you a game in ways that Dennis can’t sure yeah yeah like weirdly enough they cost you the game in the exact same way because they both get tunnel vision Etc but yeah maybe with you know more trust RJ gets that you know that he earns that well
But he went out of the offense quite a few times tonight which I think you know if you want to be clear he was on the court for that entire turnaround for for the Memphis Grizzlies um he took a three that was very out of rhythm um he forced a couple
Shots at The Rim I think there was a turnover in there somewhere so I’m trying to say like be happy that he’s starting right he’s not coming out the I think I’m happy that he’s getting opportunities to explore himself as a player and to you know and and again
Like you know there’s a there’s a play in transition last game there’s three or four plays in transition last game which was really interesting um I think there was one where he goes two-on one and he scores then there was a fouron two where he didn’t
Score you know sorry one on two so he was he was going up against two guys and he and he managed to put it in and it’s just because he’s a big body as I mentioned he moves guys and then there was a you know four on two where he
Doesn’t make the right pass to Manel quickley and they don’t score that’s what I’m saying like like I mean I can see the rationale for like wanting to wanting to finish finish out games with him but I also see the rationale in keeping Dennis on the court because Dennis wasn’t killing you
Tonight played well and so you you go with your best five guys and tonight Dennis was better than RJ he’s a better player than RJ tonight overall as a facilitator as a ball hler as everything like he was just better now will he continue to be better I
Don’t know like because Dennis Dennis goes through his own zones where you know he can’t buy a bucket and he just goes into his Zone and he’s missing shots at The Rim or whatever I just want I just want fair and today I’m good today I’m good but it’s like what about
A night where uh Dennis is laying an egg which just happens he’s he’s it happens okay well now you have options you have plent what I’m saying is what if he still goes with his guy regardless that’s where I’m still not sure if it’s gonna deal deal
With that then don’t have a don’t have an emotional reaction to that now you know what I mean like it’s not it’s not it’s not it’s not healthy or helpful to anybody I’m not but I I’ve watched this team for for 30 games now that being
Said it’s a new team so no you’re right that no you haven’t you’ve watched this team for two games yeah and for two games and for two games straight Dennis shroeder has pretty much closed in fourth quarter so I understand that have a point with okay this is too much
Dennis at the same time Emanuel quickley was closing out games for the Knicks why do you think that was in place of RJ regular closer for them for the yes was he he has been for a couple years now like they they trust him and and that’s the point Dynamic ball
Handlers in the fourth quarter when things clamp up you need them Raptors don’t have two sorry they only have two and that’s him and Dennis are you telling me I need to retire my picture maybe maybe give it one more game maybe give it one more game right and if he
Doesn’t blow up the offense next game then I think you can retire it but keep it on keep it on ice because I have a feeling he’s gonna come right back I should give him the proper hairline I should I should I should give him
A I should or maybe or maybe you go positive because you know here’s the thing you’re you’re looking at a player on your screen we all are who you don’t like very much which might be making you upset so maybe what you need to do is
Change is change your image to Scotty or or IQ or better yet Scotty giving IQ one of those handshakes yeah and now you’ll be smiling the whole time someone keep it for the road trip change it when we get back yeah I wanna I want to say something with regards to uh the
Management of Dennis sure uh we saw it took a while I’ll give it that but we did see when there was push on the Dennis agenda Darko eventually responded right and I don’t I don’t think like I I like to think of this as a tale of two different teams right we
Had the the team that dark was man asked to put up with for the first sure 32 games of the season and now we’ve got the if you just be patient Darko this is what we’re we’re aiming for right and right I I I feel even though he’s a new
Coach even though he’s a development guy even though you know blah blah blah in experience I think he has a lot to offer this team and I I feel that Dennis when properly managed MH can be effective tool very very effective tool yeah I’m kiding I’m kidding I’m
Kidding sorry that was I’m still pissed off about the uh the postgame presser where he basically just [ __ ] on the entire team like somebody tweeted something out and I basically just said like why aren’t you saying those words to yourself because right uh I I didn’t I didn’t a lot think
It was great with the black shades like just being so aloof and so like well I did my job right but he didn’t and and and I get that and and you know on the one hand he’s wrong he’s fully wrong uh for you know having this attitude of like
Bringing up Germany and doing all that stuff because yes we remember how connected you were with maxi cber you know that that take was very weird so I’ll say that but at the same time he’s also not wrong this team is very disconnected they don’t help each other
They don’t communicate and so all of that so we don’t know if like it’s like a Fred thing right I don’t like the way Fred went about doing some of the stuff that he did last year but he wasn’t wrong he was the wrong person to say it
That’s all it was like here’s the thing I could walk into um let’s just say like uh there’s like a teenage party going on you know um down the street whatever right and there’s a lot of drugs and a lot of stuff that shouldn’t be happening
There I can go knock on the door and be like you guys shouldn’t be doing this right am I right probably am I the right person to say this no no so that’s the difference right you have to become the right person at some point to be able to
Speak to people people think just because they have the right attitude or they have the right not attitude they have the right idea or they’re saying the right thing or they’re preaching the right thing that that automatically everyone needs to listen to them and that’s just not how anything works at
All he hasn’t earned the leverage with his words right because like it’s it’s too short of a too small of a sample size to say like maybe to the average fan they’re like oh yeah he’s putting up numbers yada y yada but he he has not
It’s like uh you know the old thing of like you know raccoons wearing a trench coat and trying to go in and buy pizza from like a store it that’s what Dennis is right now as far as those pressors are concerned so just make Dennis be Dennis right and
That’s Darko and the coaching staff’s responsibility and I I think you have an effective guy who you you can eventually learn to be like hey like he’s closing out this is good right sure and he’s got other guys like I didn’t like the Snips that he was giving RJ uh during the game
Like on like one mistake I don’t like the you know the every time he gets like fou an extension of the coach out there see that’s the thing he’s an extension of the coach out there so he’s speaking what Darko needs him to do and he he’s
Speaking to a new teammate so okay like I don’t know if you know he he Ste he overstepped or how R.J received it I I couldn’t see entirely you know like that he’s talking about yeah kind walked away a bit but he it wasn’t like disrespectful RJ just walked to his
Assign he got it and he was just moving on I don’t think RJ’s like flapped like that like no he doesn’t get like you know ruffled Den just seemed so animated on that yeah oh that was yeah that was a bit that’s the thing right you you learned with Dennis very quickly his
Personality can rub people the wrong way in my opinion it can right it doesn’t matter that he’s saying the right thing it’s just sometimes he just has a way of speaking this could be you know a German thing this could be a language thing you
Know he speaks in this in this way that that can be kind of irritating and I get that because I’m a person who speaks in a way that’s very irritating as well so I’ve been told that about myself so let’s just say like I I have I have understanding of what an abrasive
Language not abrasive langage abrasive personality with resting [ __ ] face I prefer I prefer Dennis’s approach and what he said that time at the presser than the it’s not my job Pascal Pascal special the absolute aloof I I’m just I’m just here I’m just a guy I’d rather Dennis than that be
Honest with you fair because throwing everything under the rug we’re good and just giving us some cliches and answering questions half-heartedly we don’t need that either right yeah what do we think of uh IQ skip like I I love the New York hop man um I think he was great like that
That energy is infectious wait like dapping up the kid and then at home yeah and then dancing up in court oh yeah he’s gonna bring Scotty’s joy for for for like the real Scot Scotty’s already joyous with him right but um yeah you know what’s so what’s has me excited about IQ is
That I don’t even think he’s that comfortable yet he’s not bro when this dude is comfortable and he knows oh yeah I’m here I’m I have the trust of everybody they want me to do me oh my goodness 30 bombs on the regular bro yeah aing 25 you could see the start
Of this game he was trying to ease his way in when they when he really finds out they don’t want him easing his way into anything yeah yeah I agree hard dog yeah uh I’m gonna go to Taylor Jenkins post game um just see you know maybe he was asked
Some questions about Darko and stuff like that I think it’d be good um I’m gonna pull you guys off if you want to stick around you can definitely stick around and pull you back on after the post games that cool all right all right man cheers guys okay
Let’s do it do it do it okay Taylor Jenkins let’s go Taylor what stands out to you for this game I I got to get this team better prepared we were flat tonight it’s on me what did you got it down to five a couple of times in that fourth quarter
What did you make of the looks your team got you know down the stretch yeah I mean I thought our defensive activity was a whole lot better there um we got him playing in the half court you know physicality we got some big rebounds we played fast and then there was a couple
Possessions I wish I could take back to get us better organized I think it was a little too late um you know I thought our our pace of play just playing fast moving the ball uh was really good and then there’s probably a couple wish I
Wish we i’ slowed them down a little bit what did you like about Z Williams and what he uh kind of attributed there late third early and fourth quarter yeah I thought he did did a really good job on ball um you know trying to keep the
Ball in front his recovery speed uh was good uh played a great second half for us obviously you know knocked down some shots in the first but I thought just put two sides of the four together in that second half knocking down shots getting some rebounds uh running the
Floor I thought again you know navigating a bunch of pick and rolls um it was pretty impressive I mean he was scheduled to be out of the rotation tonight and he’s been putting in a lot of work last couple of days staying ready told him you know whenever your
Numbers called come out there and play winning basketball I thought he did that tonight you have a pretty challenging road trip coming up do you like that at all that it’s a challenging trip after maybe a game like this yeah every game should be treated as a challenge and an
Opportunity to to play your best and come out you know with the right urgency that’s why I say I’ve got to get this group ready um we’re going to take it one day at a time one game at a time going out west uh we have our work cut
Out for us we just got to continue you know fighting working on the things that we know are going to impact winning you know on both sides of the floor um obviously practice and time is is a little limited you know with the condensed schedule and all that but
That’s no excuse it’s got to be the film going in I thought we had a great shoot around yesterday um when we get out to LA and have a shoot around we just got to keep putting purposeful work in and hopefully we just continue to find ways
To get better Taylor in the back what was it like coaching against Darko oh it was awesome I mean you can feel his fire down there um he had his guys playing extremely hard tonight you know obviously they were playing extremely fast you know not surprised you know
When you watched the film how he’s prepared this team and you know uniqueness with the different lineups he’s got out there putting guys in their spot different pick and roll combinations I thought they had pretty good spacing good ball movement as well um you know they’ve got guys that can
Play with a lot of force and he’s putting them in successful positions and then defensively you know game plan they made it tough on us you know trying to pack the paint you know do some things you know going under on us uh when we did execute well we got some good looks
But he had those guys dialed in and they play really well tonight um Taylor so uh typically over the past couple Seasons you’ve gone with having two centers or four big men in the rotation uh past couple games you had gone biz no X tonight you do X but no Biz just what
Has gone into that decision and kind of shi away from those four big lineups yeah just with the back toback just wanted a different look um obviously you know I think Biz has been playing well you know anticipate him being back in the rotation on uh Friday against La um
Trying to see a little bit more jiren and Santi I think I said that maybe a couple of games ago trying to get some of those looks and then you know depending on how you know guys are playing or if there’s foul trouble it’s more you know some guys are playing well
I try to lean into you know building their Rhythm there and may adjust some of the the lineups that we have with JJ at the five maybe playing some small you know when Vince has been there Vince and Marcus on the floor together you know just given some different looks you know
With JJ at the five but the Santi JJ lineup is something that we’ve wanted to look into I thought you know Santi played well had a good first half did some good things rebounding wise for us um but just trying to you know see if that chemistry can be formed since we’ve
Traditionally played Biz X or you know steo BC just trying to get JJ at the F to exploit that offensively and and kind of figure out what we can accomplish defensively with different guys around them when you have something like uh Marcus Smart dealing with the you know
Little on his left hand as a coach throughout the game uh are you like be conscious of like that are you talking to him about that throughout the game in any sort of way or is it as simple as you know you take his word he say he’s
Good to go and you know play through it oh trust the guy completely I mean obviously uh I noticed you know it the other day and I had assass said man I’m feeling good just got to play through just got to get the perhaps get comfortable with it but absolutely trust
Them out there um obviously you know I know it’s Unique when you’ve got bandage on it and all that stuff but you know nothing that I’m worried about when he’s out there playing hard and Diving on the floor and getting good looks and you know being a guy that can get into the
Pain for us all that stuff I don’t think it’s bothering him he’s just you know adapting to it right now great thanks everybody a point guard the god that that can do so much uh with the ball uh his shooting is is really something that makes the difference for us there
Uh teams are constantly going over on him which just creates opportunities everywhere on the floor um I thought at the start of the game he was a little bit hesitant and reading and you could see that in the first game as well and uh after that he just started playing
And being himself and uh that’s what I told him you got to be yourself uh and on the Fly we’re going to be teaching and learning and everything but you got to go out there and have fun most first and foremost obviously things came down Clos late but when you look defensively
Overall are you noticing a different attitude or did you notice a different attitude tonight from um what the guys were able to do out there um it’s just with different Personnel that it’s it’s it’s always like learning what what they’re good at uh we were adjusting
Some matchups as the game was going on um I thought that RJ did a lot of great stuff defensively there for us um you know I think that our team did really good job protecting the the the the the rim especially Yak had five blocks which is his season
High um he had a couple of really good deflections in pick and roll just keeping uh jamaran Desmond ban constantly guessing uh but overall I thought that energy was was good there um I was not happy how we executed offense in the four fourth quarter and that’s that’s what created a lot of
Issues for us uh defensively as well uh we lost couple of times uh Z we lost couple of times their Shooters out there and they were able to knock down a couple of threes and get back in the game Come Away with the victory kg and
IQ Caleb hey thanks so much Matt well it showed up in that third quarter your three-point shooting what were you seeing there on offense that allowed that shot to be available for you I ain’t going to lie all glory to God every time I get to step onto this floor
And and show my gift uh and I got some great teammates that cuz I struggled early in in early in the game they just kept telling me to shoot the coaches kept telling me to shoot stay aggressive and play my game so it’s it’s a lot of
Credit to them uh the mindset that I have but also the mindset that they give me to go out here and play with confidence so I appreciate them and we got a little skip to the L I won’t ask you to do it here but Emanuel the
Defense let’s focus on that it was present most of the game but also it needed to be present late what showed up in order for you guys to lock this one down uh total team effort uh guys we know what they what they uh present with
Jah and getting downhill so we had to be in our shifts early uh show our crowd and uh that’s what we did we executed the game plan I think pretty good we could be better we’ll watch the film and get better so it was a good job tonight
There’s a lot of new of course you being a part of the new pieces to this team when it comes to this road trip a lot of the talk is about building through this road trip obviously you want to win but what do you want the Raptors to learn
About you and your capabilities with this group um just that we’re going to play hard every night uh every time we get a chance to step on this floor like I said and show guys gift uh we going to do it to the best of our ability and I
Think that’s all fans really want all right I me Danel congratulations Kate over to you he has read the room very well that is in fact all fans really want what fans want is a team that plays hard um the Toronto Raptors YouTube channel has
Not uploaded the uh post game so I’m not really sure where to go we’re almost two hours after the game and Raptor’s YouTube yall lacking so you need to step it up and get all those Scotty Barnes you know past gy yam whoever talked to the media tonight if someone knows where
Those interviews are by all means let me know um Brandon Zimmerman saying see I knew that [ __ ] was edited uh yeah I mean you have to scour the internet to get to get uh um to to to find that so definitely do do send that over if anyone wants to call in let
Me post uh post the the the link is in the description but I’m going to post it again here as well you can definitely come on and you know know close out the night uh with Jonathan and I um yeah hang on one second put post it up again
Invite okay but I’m hoping that you know at some point those interviews are gonna be posted and we can close out tonight with that but here’s um thing and I want to close this night out without listening to what what the players have to say even if you don’t glean a ton
From these interviews I do think sometimes you do get a nugget um which is worse I will say two things before we get back to the conversations and you know with 544 550 of you in here I think it’ll be worth saying so I hope that you can take this message Beyond this
Community two things number one vote. mba.com Scotty Barnes manual quickley RJ Barrett if you want to vote for Pascal seak yaka prle whoever there are five Raptors you can definitely vote every single night I’ll let you know I vote Christian Koko every single day he hasn’t played a single game that’s just
How much I love the guy so um definitely get out there and vote um the second thing I definitely say is do not vote for other players in the front court for the East that Scotty is competing with don’t vote for Jason Tatum don’t vote for jool and beid don’t vote for Giannis
You may like those players lety of people in the world like those players you’re a raptor fan vote your Raptors that’s what I’m gon to say about that beyond that um OG and anobi posted a very not very heartfelt but heartfelt for him tribute not too many words um
Thanking the Raptor fans for you know seven seven Great years and underneath it there was a small comment by Grady dick and the comments to that comment busted my brain I was very upset about it I understand this is the internet and people are going to be who they’re going
To be uh But please understand this is a 20-year-old kid you got people saying he scammed the Raptors needs to go back to Kansas dur even people you know in in this chat saying he needs to go back to Kansas there needs to be a realistic perspective on what you’re expecting
From a 19 or 20 yearold who is not physically ready to play in the NBA and no you do not get to say that well if you weren’t physically ready why’d you come out because there’s a lot of players and I think you just saw one zy
Williams Who come out and are high lottery picks who don’t really contribute for a few years and I think calling a guy a bust or saying negative things about him um is one thing you know say it you know in your living room and whatever when you start tagging the
Guy and telling him that he’s a crook I mean some of the things that people were saying to him were ridiculous I hope the people that were saying these things are not Raptor’s fans but if they are Raptor’s fans I would ask you to have a
Little bit of humility and just just a little bit of empathy and understand that you’re talking to a 20-year-old kid who is definitely trying his best okay and all this negativity is not helping him in any way because he’s not doing anything that he’s not supposed to do
He’s not going out there and you know freezing out his teammates he’s not doing going out there and being selfish he’s simply struggling physically with the NBA have you struggled with anything in your life did it ever help that someone yelled at you and called you
Trash no okay so yelling at this guy is not going to help him um getting mad that he has commercials is not going to help you or him it just shows me how narrow-minded and ridiculous you are if you do this so please don’t do this and
If you see somebody doing this tell them to stop tell them to stop let you know sometimes it really helps I I got to tell you you know um there’s a lot of times where a player goes through a bad Rhythm you know or or a bad month or bad
Couple months and fans start to Pile in them Scotty went through this last year I think you know Pascal went through this in the bubble and I would love to tell you these players are super disconnected but they check their phones all the time this is the modern NBA these players see
Everything Chris bue sees your Tweet about him now I’m not saying he’s devastated and heartbroken because you think he’s a scrub and because he’s overpaid these guys are pretty desensitized to a lot of stuff but I got to tell you that I and I have it on good
Authority and I’ve heard this from a few players that it’s really touching when even when they’re playing bad that somebody is still has their back out there you know at when they start to doubt themselves and the and the echo chamber of Twitter which can get very
Ridiculous and and and real g m and and uh all of these places are so [ __ ] negative uh when the team is losing and everyone is looking for a scapegoat because nobody enjoys watching a losing product especially one where you think they’re not trying hard and I I’ve heard
This from a few players where they just say really appreciate you know that one positive comment in the sea of negative ones the one that says hey’s still a great player he’s still working hard Etc so you know I I I’m saying is this is we’ve had a tough go we’ve had a
Tough go as fans we’ve had a really tough go as fans I I got to say we were a little bit spoiled we won a championship you know this team won a championship we’re fleecing teams left and right uh we got this very competent front office you got a fantastic young
Player you know there’s a lot to be thankful for there’s a new year starting this is a fantastic City I know NBA players love this city and look like you can build something here we can really build something here but the negativity and the incessant you know this guy
Sucks that guy sucks that guy sucks even in the mids of a positive run is is exhausting to me so I’m not saying toxic positivity I’m not saying you know after an embarrassing loss where the team doesn’t come out that we that we sing kumaya we can be critical but we don’t
Have to be negative we don’t have to be toxic we don’t we certainly don’t have to you know yell that players are overpaid or that they shouldn’t be doing commercial in their off time because they should be in the gym um we certainly don’t need to invent myths
About players not working hard enough you know Grady why are you doing commercials you should be working what the hell who why what I’m gonna borrow that line from Darko rakovich who what why why you know why why this and I think if I’m being completely honest I
Think where this comes from is is is our own childhoods because someone did this to us you know we weren’t playing well we didn’t do things well I’ll share a very small anecdote from my childhood and I may have shared it before so I apologize for repeating myself but I’m
Assuming there’s a lot of new people in here but I remember I used to lose my keys a lot when I was younger I used to lose my keys a lot and every time I lose my keys my mom would get progressively matter and matter and she had a she had
A she had a point to get to to be upset that I was losing my keys because I mean it’s dangerous and you know it’s unsafe and she’s a single parent and she’s living here with me and and I’m losing my keys and I at one point had lost I
Think 23 23 pairs of keys and I just kept losing him and and every time she would yell and scream and call me an idiot and all that stuff and one time my cousin who is very wise and was very wise Beyond his years he he sat
There and he watched her do this to me she I told her I lost my keys that I’ve been locked out she felt embarrassed so she berated me for it and she said you know he’s such an idiot he’s such an idiot he just keeps losing his keys such
An idiot I tie it around his neck and he takes it off I I attach it to his backpack and he takes it off granted I was 13 14 years old at the time right I was I was a kid and I didn’t want to lose these keys I just kept losing them
I wasn’t losing them on purpose but every time I’d lose them I’d have to come home and sit outside my apartment because I couldn’t get in and it sucked every time it happened it sucked and I don’t know why I kept losing them and my cousin said you’re the reason he’s
Losing them my mom’s like I beg your pardon like how am I the one and he’s just look at what you’re saying to him you’re saying he’s an idiot telling him not to lose his keys and he looked at me and he said Robert give me your hand and I was like
Uhhuh and he’s like okay here are your keys and I said okay he’s like close your hands I’m like yep and he’s like I trust that you will not lose these keys I will trust you will keep these keys do you know I never lost my keys again
After that until I was 27 or 28 and I lost him in in the snow when I was running it it just stopped it just stopped so what I’m saying is that you know if you want there’s a way to be critical without being toxic is what I’m saying
Anyways let’s bring Jonathan back on Jonathan what up man your mic is off again oh my God hey sorry I don’t ever want to be you know talking or coughing or whatever I was say where’s coach I was hoping he was GNA come back but um he gone he’s gone
That’s okay um what were we talking about oh yeah uh the Raptors um I don’t want to I guess maybe sound like a broken record but um I I remember I I I always have the same place for my keys uh but I I have I have
A very similar background where I was constantly called an idiot and uh um uh all it took was some positive words to help change the direction so it it it goes a long way when you show people uh kindness sure man I mean it’s it’s a balancing act you got to be accountable
And you gotta you gota like here’s the thing the okay so here’s here’s something funny that happened so this key thing it wired very early in my life right so yesterday or yesterday my girlfriend she wakes me up and she’s like where are the gym keys and I have
I’ve been the last person to go to the gym uh the gym and our condo and I’m racking my brain I’m like okay now typically maybe three four years ago if this same thing had happened I was like not again I lost my keys I’m such an
Idiot the whole cycle would continue but today but but but like sorry yesterday it was like okay let’s look for them so very calmly I looked around didn’t see him went downstairs didn’t see him there um came back upstairs they were right on my desk I avoided the entire cycle of stupidity
Of Shame and and and you know like I’m such an idiot now I got to pay to replace them what’s going on yo if you look at players on the court how many players cycle negativity when things happen right so you were a kid you missed a big shot and now it happens
Over and over again so now every single time you miss a shot now consider Chris Weber I think Chris Weber is the most perfect example of this when I think about the ridicule and media tension that his timeout you know that mistake I could read that on him his entire career
He carried that with him for his entire career I think that I I used to I ran a podcast for a very short while my first podcast which not a lot of people know about was called I’m okay and it is a nine episode podcast that I completely
Abandoned that I still pay to host for some reason and it was just an expressive amount of thoughts on U mental health and good ideas for for making yourself better and I think that athletes could use this I think anyone could use this and I certainly have
Gotten a lot better because of it and in it I equated trauma as bricks in a backpack you we all carry backpacks every time you were shamed as a child for being small for being an idiot for being new for being fat whatever if you registered it and you internalized it
You carry it the body is just like an extended extension of a backpack and and so many people you know they keep going through life keep going through life being called idiot called this called stupid called not enough called you know all these names and because everyone’s
Got an opinion about you and every time you make a mistake that indirectly or directly affects somebody they have an opinion about what you should have done shouldn’t have done at some point you know it comes back and so many bricks that you don’t realize or in your
Backpack that you just stop moving because you can’t move anymore it’s just too heavy to move and you just sit and you die you wait and you die and there’s a lot of people like that so I think that you know one of the things that I
Always talk about with kids is let it go let it go absolutely like be Elsa man like seriously let that [ __ ] go um it I I’ve I’ve done I’ve never done a podcast about that stuff but it talking about mental health and personal development
Is something I do a lot with um my my close friends and uh anybody that will listen and the one thing that I discovered very early on um well as I was becoming an adult um I had I had a pretty uh just to keep it light I I had
A pretty rough go uh specifically with the relationship with my father and um he didn’t have a lot of uh he had no Father Figure growing up so he was Wing kind of winging a prayer and he was very uh physically hard on me okay and he
Um every single time I would make a mistake there was this moment where he would he would start ramping up and screaming at me and telling me you know you’re a waste of skin you’re a terrible human being like not not terrible human being you’re you’re a bad kid yeah and
The thing that took me out of it like the the what helped me like kind of put a buffer between what I was experiencing with my father allowed me to discover that I could wiggle my ears because if I found if I ever tried to move away from
My dad he would get more physically upset mhm and I would try to like without moving I I found I could just kind of push my ears back and I was like oh okay I can wiggle my ears so I would do that as kind of a
Buffer and then the psychologist that I was talking with later on in life they said you were using that as a way to break the the the the this is probably going to make me sound old but the real toore tape that you have in your head you’ve recorded this information of
You’re a bad human you’re this you’re that but you were using that to break that cycle that disconnect absolutely absolutely and like we all come with software like and Hardware right we are the hardware the software is what we learned what we grew up with it’s the same thing with basketball like when
You’re teaching basketball at a young age bad habits register um picking up the basketball you know you got to break that habit looking down when you dribble you got to break that habit because you’re always going to do it because it’s comfortable and the more often you
Do it you’re building like uh the best way to look at it is like a forest like an unpaved forest and every time you do something and you do do it multiple times over and over this is how habits form um You’re Building like a Pavement
In the forest and every single time you just do on autopilot the thing that you’ve paved most is what’s going to happen so if you go to the gym every day every day for six months I assure you seventh months it’s going to be a lot
Easier than the first month right y so anyways the Raptor post game is up now we are going to end on that and you know emuel quickly wearing some sunglasses uh I’m I’m for it I can’t wait for the Vibes um johathan thanks a lot for calling in man I really appreciate
Cheers Cheers lot love everyone hit the like hit the like yes hit the like on the way out all right let’s get to this video file and let’s go just obviously the basketball part is big but just the whole organization is has made it really easy easy to be
Honest uh family environment the way the guys have accepted me showing me different things uh coaches trainers everybody uh top to bottom this is a top tier organization so uh it makes it really easy for me to be honest the bball par what do you feel like uh you
Know is anybody stepping up personally in terms of helping you in terms is it the entire team is it uh coaching staff like all together how how how is that transitioning back there is everybody players there a lot of bets on this team uh that Garrett uh all the guys really
And then the coaches uh Darko he pulled me aside while the game was going on and said you’re not having fun have fun and so that was I’ve never really had a coach do that um so it was after and you [ __ ] that he couldn’t [ __ ]
Coach you know what I mean you need to have fun thank God God you know this is something that I thought um when I watched IQ he’s he’s a fun dude like he’s definitely a great guy um RJ feels tight at times a little bit if de can
You can loosen up talent talent gets loose I promise I didn’t rehearse that but it’s true and having what like look man I’ve watched Scotty for a long [ __ ] time okay long time this is a guy who I watched constantly have fun on the basketball court I saw a lot of that die
Last year I saw a guy who was pressing and whether you understand the mental emotional physical connection between the thoughts you have and the way you play it’s very important it’s very important to yeah so you know you you can make Malachi smile he might put up
Eight points you can make you make you make IQ smile he might put up 60 so good job Darko he told me that then I started skipping was telling me that essentially you two had a commitment to each other that you guys are going to go into this
New situation together and have each other’s backs how much of a benefit has it been so far to by your side it’s a it’s a huge benefit not necessarily just from the fact that he’s from here but just to have somebody that I know famili familiarity uh someone who I’ve known
For five four or five years uh the way we’ve grinded uh our Years in New York and now to be here uh it’s just good to have somebody that I know that you know understands me and I understand him so it’s good you’re saying that you’re a
Very positive person and you kind of couple that with his not that he’s negative but you know a littleit of attitude out there how have you seen that type of Personality take the court and how does that change just the chemistry available on a team when you
Have RJ who’s not afraid to talk yeah RJ uh no I feel like RJ is a pretty positive person he can be hard on himself sometimes so I got to you know sometime talk to him and be like you good bro next play but RJ is a pleasure
To be around pleasure to work with he’s uh a great teammate a great person as well so um and he’s a competitor so you can’t ask her anything other than that when you talking about a basketball player and a person talk about the comfort of being with the organization
On the floor what what’s your comfort level at this point two games in uh I mean obviously it’s only two games but I feel pretty comfortable uh as comfortable as you can be uh for two games and I’m just really just looking forward to trying to get better each and
Every day that’s pretty much my motto as far as that uh and seeing how I can help this team win games so what’s yourg take away from playing next to Scotty as well as Pascal they make the game really easy uh they’re really talented players like both 610 can pass dribble shoot defend
Can pretty much do everything so uh I really don’t have to do anything out of the ordinary they make the game really easy it always makes it easier playing with great players so I know it’s just two games but has it in ways changed how you might see your potential in terms of
The things that you’re now available to do with that length out there yeah uh makes it easy on defense as well because they can switch and they can help and guard and fly around uh so I know I I have to do more as well uh on the
Defensive end but uh what they can do vers their versatility is is just as good as anybody in the league it felt like you guys had a bit of a funk in the fourth quarter do you chop that up to just still try to get familiar or build
Some sort of chemistry um fourth quarter is always different no matter who you know who you playing with uh but you know this is an opportunity for us to look at the film and see how we can get better uh try not to focus too much on
Results is more is about doing something seeing how you can get better come back and try it again doing that trying to and getting better from that and trying to do it again and again and again uh so more about the process and not the result but we want to continue to uh
Make sure that we’re doing that you know day to day I know said me supposed to earlier that you want to be kind of work in that play making position a bit more facilitator do you feel like you’ve seen opportunities here to to exactly do that
Or do you feel your kind of finding that footing yeah um definitely see that a lot especially with guys that we have a lot of scores that we have uh the coaches was telling me I was passing up too many shots so I was trying to playm
A little bit too much early but uh just trying to just getting familiar and trying to stay aggressive while also looking for my teammates and making sure you know they get the ball where they want and things like that is something that you know I look forward to doing
For the rest of the year obviously it’s just two gam sample size but for the pace that you’re trying to play overall with the system long term how well does Emanuel fit into that picture oh uh he FS great uh um I realized that we went
To Darko a little bit early but but I think this is more of a full interview I let me just scrub forward here just make sure yeah this is like the full thing we got two minute clip I apologize a little bit repetitive but I do want to hear
What he had to say so we’re going to go to him right Point Guard the guard that that can do so much uh with the ball uh his shooting is is really something that makes the difference for us there uh teams are constantly going over on him which just creates opportunities
Everywhere on the floor um um I thought at the start of the game he was a little bit hesitant and reading and you could see that in the first game as well and uh after that he just started playing and being himself and uh that’s what I
Told him you got to be yourself uh and on the Fly we going to be teaching and learning and everything but you got to go out there and have fun most first and foremost obviously things came down close slate but when you look defensively overall are you noticing a
Different attitude or did you notice a different attitude tonight from um what the guys were able to do out there um it’s just with different Personnel that it’s it’s it’s always like learning what what they’re good at uh we were adjusting some matchups as the game was
Going on um I thought that RJ did a lot of great stuff defensively there for us um you know I think that our team did really good job protecting the the the the the rim especially uh Yak had five blocks which is his uh season High um he
Had a couple of really good deflections in p just keeping uh jamaran Desmond ban constantly guessing uh but overall I thought that energy was was good there um I was not happy how we executed offense in the four fourth quarter and that’s that’s what created a lot of
Issues for us uh defensively as well uh we lost couple of times uh Z we lost couple of times their Shooters out there and they were able to knock down couple of threes and get back in the game how crucial is it that you guys have been
Able to perform like tonight but then also in Cleveland or sorry yesterday against Cleveland or whenever that two days ago two days ago s um that you guys when the game did get close you guys were able to close it out and what do you think that difference is right now
That you’re seeing I mean um I think um I think that down the stretch uh we were able to get couple of stops there and rebounds that allowed us to run I thought that uh Scotty and the other game uh post stops uh really created
Some problems that he was able to get a free throw line and we were able to to score on those possessions but uh to be honest with you in in that fourth quarter I I I thought we didn’t really have control on offense event we were
All over the place what we’re doing what what we’re executing it just it was all over the place so we got to do much better job we got to watch the film and learn and like know know what are we really looking at and how we want to
Execute and to create Chemistry Between the guys there on the court as well that lack of ability to get organized is that just kind of chocked up to new B out there or just more so I I think it’s just like knowing what we’re doing you
Know a lot of times like if I don’t call play early enough you know uh Emmanuel is going to quickly he’s going to bring the ball and he he he does not you know still still does know like plays or teammates or spots on the floor you know
I just had great talk with with Pascal that we got to you know spend a little bit more time watching film and and dissecting you know how we want to execute down the stretch and uh how what that should look like you had a lineup out there with I think Scotty Chris Yak
Pascal and then tennis um how great of it is it to have that luxury still available to you when you need that size whenever the game calls for it no for for sure like I I think that our size there really bothered them and their ability to to score uh at the paint
Which they’re Elite at uh keeping this team uh to 44 points in the paint and shooting under 50% in the paint you know it’s uh it’s thanks to our length and uh our activity there in the pain do you feel like the three-point shooting for you guys is overall getting better and
You know quickly he he had a really great shooting night from the three as well so what are you seeing on both sides both with him individually but then also on the team as uh yes I I think that uh there is more trust there
And we were able to knock down a couple of shots I thought RJ was getting a couple of really good looks open looks uh obviously Scotty got all great looks out there uh I don’t know if if he could be more open on that one top of the key
But it didn’t go go in on that one but I I think they’re getting good looks uh you know 25 assists uh you know we make couple more layups that drop off passes that the number should be above 30 and you know we want to to be the team that
Gets three assist uh you know nightly last from me um what’ you like from Porter you got quite quite a bit of run there and and fit in quite nicely to you think and um def in the offensive end yeah I I thought that defensively he did
Really good job uh with verticality and protecting the rim um uh and offensively he’s just like in those limited minutes he was able to to get quick open threes and we know that he is knocked down and really really good three-point shooter so I’m I’m happy with his minutes over
There and uh we’re going to continue giving him opportunity and seeing what we got there I know this is the first one out of six uh Road games how does games like this how does this one set the tone for the rest uh obviously it’s always better to start
The road trip with with the win I think it’s it’s going to give us a really good opportunity to watch film and to be critical on some things that we need to to improve and get better at uh at the same time uh this is a long road trip 11
Days and six games you know we’re going to have ups and downs but the most important thing is for this group right now is staying together and trying to play to a standard and I was telling guys tonight like don’t play the score like don’t look at the scoreboard and
See that you’re up 18 or 19 whatever like we we got to do right things you know if you’re doing right things over the course of 48 minutes then we can live with the outcome we can live with the result but we got to play to a standard um
Okay great uh I want to thank Jonathan for this uh very nice and very generous Super Chat here thank you so much this month is certainly looking great to be a Raptor’s content creator I’m looking at every Raptor’s video on YouTube right now and the views are chiming up I think
A lot of that is New York fans um I do I think there’s a lot of interest from around the NBA looking at the Raptors the magnifying glass is absolutely on the Toronto Raptors because I think for especially when you like the Raptors have been on all the podcasts right now
Right like every podcast is talking about the moves that the Raptors made and everyone’s got their opinion about you know what it’s going to be you know what what is this going to turn into how good is em manual quickly going to be a lot of people have come out very firmly
And said Aman quicky is gonna be the best player in this trade I agree I have seen nothing um shout outs to Ty I don’t know if you’re watching but um he had a I don’t know if I can share this I can share this yeah so Terry is a Community
Member here he called in a few times last year you may remember him and and you know he he dm’d me like uh sometime around the first quarter and he said you know IQ looks a little bit mid so far and I said hang tight hang tight man and
It was like right after that that he just started snapping and going off and you know with with a lot of people it’s the shot making right that’s the thing that the average fan the Casual fan is going to look at and they’re going to say okay you know he made shots great
He’s hitting the floaters he’s great he missed the layup he sucked he’s making the threes he’s awesome he’s missing the threes oh God here we go again I think what Darko is saying to his players could apply to also what perhaps content creators like myself need to say to the
Fans don’t worry about the makes and misses so much okay worry instead about or not worry but Focus instead your attention on the shots that you’re getting how open they are they’re so open these threes are so open because your screeners are getting these three-pointer these three-point shooters
Wide open you’re spacing is getting these driving Lanes wide open right the magnitude or the gravity that guys like RJ are able to go when when I mean like look people have made a lot of criticism about have a lot of fair criticism about RJ being kind of a weak shooter Pascal
Being sort of a weak shooter sure these guys are basically being asked to do you know shoot three or four threes from the corner every single game I think they’re more than competent and more than capable of doing that if pass is the guy going forward for this team the future um foreseeable
Future if they kick the can down the road whatever what I’m saying is that it’s not really about those guys as three-point Shooters they’re actually not negative spacers for one reason because when they eventually catch the ball or if they catch the ball in the paint they’re sucking two defenders in
This is not a situation like Dennis Schroeder who you know doesn’t really have a lot of gravity in the paint when when RJ goes into the paint you can look at the clips go look at all the shots that he hit or didn’t hit or whatever
There’s many many Defenders on him so at the point that the decision is made to shoot or pass or do whatever have you managed to do what any good offensive player is supposed to do which is shift the defense yes you have Scotty’s doing the same thing Scotty’s now doing it on
Three levels he’s able to get downhill his finishing is getting better his decision- making is getting better he had eight assists tonight I think that’s great so you have now four guys that are constantly creating tons of space through either their shooting or their driving or their downhill attack or
Simply their ball handling and their shiftiness or their passing they’re creating space you know who’s who doesn’t create space Jaylen McDaniels that’s a guy who doesn’t create space um Gary Tren Jr creates a lot of space as an off ball guy but the minute he touches the ball he’s usually going
Downhill and he’s not seeing the P so I think overall Talent creates space Talent synergized correctly creates Oodles of space and talent synergized correctly with screens set correctly with an offense that’s coherent and fast tempo creates unimaginable space the Raptors are moving up their three-point shooting is getting better and better
And better and I for one am very excited to see a team that can be dynamic and I am just loving what this trade has done for their transition offense jonte Porter if this guy works out for you this would be great every team in the league it feels has this undrafted late
Second round guy that just pops off for them look at Sam Marill you know for the Cleveland Cavaliers that guy’s gonna get a deal okay that’s a gem that’s an Unearthed gem Isaiah Joe I’m not saying is I’m not saying that jont Porter is gonna be your Isaiah Joe but if he can
Be a competent stretch big on a two-way contract the Raptors haven’t extracted a great deal of juice from their two-way contract the last few years I am very excited about this team going forward I am very excited to watch this team play out this road trip the games are going
To be late these lives are going to be super late the call-ins are going to be super late but I hope these lives continue to keep jumping I want to thank this community so much for sticking with us until the we hours of 1:00 a.m thank you to the callers who called
In it’s great um I just want to let you know that if you are a caller um or someone who’s thinking about calling in on the next show it’s actually really easy to call in to this show you can like it’s it’s simple plus press the button call in talk it’s very easy
There’s no download or anything I would love to start hearing from more more people you know maybe people who’ve never called in maybe people who’ve been thinking about calling in maybe people who have something to say I love it um we had over 150 to 200 different callers
Last year it was great let’s do that again you know let’s let’s let’s have that because because otherwise it’s not really a call-in show right when I when I go call like you know a radio shows and I you’re listening to different people every single day so I don’t know
What I got to do to to encourage people who have never called in to call in but I would love to hear from some different people as well and I would love to continue hearing from the people who call in regularly it’s just great it’s great to have these conversations uh
Sean saying I’m due for a call in soon hell yes you are man absolutely so super easy and look man I’m a happy person now so I’m probably not going to yell at you for suggesting a Kyle kusma trade I’ll just tell you you’re crazy but I won’t
Yell at you so it’s all good um vote Scotty and IQ guys absolutely and yes we entered this live with I think we were seven away from 7,000 subscribers and throughout the course of this live we have gotten to 7,010 there are channels on on YouTube that don’t grow this much in an entire month and you guys are doing it for us in the span of two and a half hours I very much appreciate that in terms of this poll that we ran I’m gonna try I’m
G to try to do a little bit more polls and q&as uh throughout these lives I believe I’m just capable enough now that I can do that um the results are that the vast majority of you 32 48% of you believe let me let me pull this up one sec
I got to find a better way to do this but hang on let me just pull this up on the screen and we will you know obviously we’ll check in and see how right or wrong this community was on this but we ran a poll to say what will
The Raptor’s record be over the next five games and this is what you guys said so three and two is the estimate um hardly anyone thinks they’re going to be one and four which is very encouraging and great um 3 and2 is not so bad 3 and2 is not so
Bad leaves plenty of room to redeem your season naturally you do have Boston you have your final game at Boston you’re 0 and three against Boston and now you know you have your final game against Boston at home not going to be easy but I think there was a point made earlier
About scouting this team you know other teams being kind of caught with their pants down because there isn’t a hell of a lot of footage well now there’s footage so now the adjustments will slowly start to come and by game five I expect those adjustments to be full force which means
That as much as you know players understand who RJ Barrett the Nick was and Emanuel quickley the Nick was now they’re going to understand who these guys are as Raptors because they’re not exactly being used the same way if you watch the Knicks at all you’ll understand very easily that RJ
Especially has had a very different role with the Raptors than he had with the Knicks so it’ll be interesting to see if this can you know continue obviously we faced some very very tough teams on this road trip the Lakers the Clippers the Sacramento Kings the whole California
Connection I’m looking forward to seeing what this team is I think the front office is looking forward to seeing what this team is against some better competition and yeah we will be with you we’ll be with you at 2 am 3:00 am whenever the hell the these games and
We’ll be with you on those postgame lives make sure to join us next time and again if you haven’t subscribed you’re one of the 466 people in here that haven’t subscribed make sure to hit subscribe and hit the notification Bell and make sure to get a like on this
Video on your way out and a big shout out to the Penance Film Festival coming up in less than two months um February 22nd to 25th and I’m looking forward to the penan film festival man something to do in Toronto during the winter independent films great films and what’s my affiliation
With the Penance Film Festival I run it I founded it it’s my baby I love it like like it’s it’s my life in I mean as much as the Raptor are my life this is my other life so I hope to see some of you at the Penance Film Festival that’d be
Great so thank you guys have a great one and huh okay cool conversation’s happening take care guys have a great night see you guys probably tomorrow probably tomorrow we do a live all right see you guys
The reinvigorated Toronto Raptors began a six-game trip against Western Conference opponents with a matchup against the host Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. They won behind a balanced offense led by Immanuel Quickley (28 points) and Pascal Siakam (24 points) and got plenty of defense from everyone.
Tonight marked the debut of Jontay Porter and a big defensive game from Jakob Poeltl who looks totally reinvigorated since the trade went down. The Raptors got very steady Playmaking from Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett and Dennis Schroder as well as IQ.
Big win. Thanks for getting us to 7000 subs!!

Awesome intro!!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Much better intro Rob! Wasn't a big fan of the previous one but the new intro flows way better .
Love the new intro
This was an incredibly exciting and satisfying game. I had a million things to do but I was riveted from beginning to end. Poetl was fully engaged on defense and offense. He missed some easy shots but was a presence for the whole game. I see how Scottie and Pascal can work together. If we cannot get a quality return (players that can help us), I hope we keep Pascal, even if it means losing him at the season's end with no return. Yes, Dennis brings great energy off the bench. There is so much to be excited about and we are just getting started.

favourite sequence of the night was when scottie and IQ assisted each other on back to back 3s… the future is HERE raps fans!! can't wait to watch this dynamic duo for years to come
Keep puttin in that hard work Robbie! Gotta love this community! It's a good time to be a Raptors fan!
This is why, regardless of what people say, it will forever be IN MASAI WE TRUST.
Congrats on 7k Rob
I am absolutely elated. This product is worth sacrificing sleep to watch.
I love IT's poise and gratitude. His first few words to Kayla have made me a fan forever.
IQ’s energy works so well with Scottie, also props to Rob speaking out for Gradey, let the guy work and develop. He definitely gonna be a solid player
My favourite part of the call ins was when Anton was so hyped about draymond and suggested how amazing it would be if we had a guy who would punch one or our players 😂😂😂
can coach mo get his points and criticisms across without resorting to pejoratives and high school insults. jesus
Siakam has been so consistent this year. This might be his best season ever in terms of offence.
Yeah I don't want Scotty guarding the point guards on the perimeter we need him in the back for defense and shot blocking
Please raps don’t make the same mistake the Knicks did. RJ isn’t meant to be the OG replacement guarding the best player every night and be the 4th option. He’s a scorer he can replace Pascals production and be even better with time and development. Dude is 23 years old. If you want to replace Og, trade siakam for a young 3&D guy who can guard the best wing like Jarace Walker.
I agree with the first caller, Siakam was forcing his game a little too much.
Shroeder was good, but again I think the coach has to limit his minutes slighly more in the 2nd half so we can see the young guys play without him. Gary Trent when he is not on, he looks really bad, because of his shot selection and his limited ability to create on his own. RJ and Quickley were great.
Ur story abt loosing ur keys reminds me of a something my dad said abt relationships ppl want to live up to ur expectations when u talk up to them
Hell yeah 7k subs!! Congrats! LFGOOOOO!!
After the fubar of last year, New Year's couldnt have come with any better vibes than rn. To drop a quote: "Loosen up the play, player's loosen up" and all that and right there is why i think Raps won this trade. Wow culture shift yeah bruh you can feel the weight lifting off the shoulders of this team AND this fanbase. Hope is a powerful drug.
These lives have had been mostly dissecting this team and pointing out just what the hell is wrong with them. Looking forward to finally hearing what's going right for this team. PIZZA PARTY!! lol.
Keep grinding, keep the vibes going Rob!! Road to 10k subs!
Love the new intro.
Love the new team.
Darko is going to unlock RJ.
Dennis is finally in his role. Keep him on the bench and he is valuable.
Watching the Grizzlies reminded me once again why the hell we drafted Flynn over Bane. But the Knicks took a gamble on him lol
This is a public service announcement to all Raptors fans. I’m a Knicks fan… I’m hyped about this Toronto squad. Love when small market teams commit to the youth rebuild. Def gonna make a Toronto 2k squad. But listen to me when I tell you… TRADE RJ NOW. Dude will run you around in circles with his inconsistency. He needs to be on-ball to be effective but his percentages are atrocious. For a guy who needs the ball in his hands to be successful you’d think he’d have some burst or tight handles… nope. Was on the RJ bandwagon for five years… save yourself the pain. Dudes a hustler been in the gym with Coach Drew for five years and still has no bag or jumper. Trade Siakam and RJ and focus your energy on Quick and Barnes and y’all gonna be OKC-level in a couple years with Ujiri’s mind for basketball.
Siakam will not fit in the young Raptors, he is desired play with the better contender teams in his prime. He plays defend recently for his super max contract and this was not his interest after the contract is settle.
Right message, German messenger. Don't get mad at Dennis on what he said. That's just how Germans talk.
Great wins.. happy for the play especially after the trade but the losses will come and will add up. Siakam needs to go so we can see the actual team that can grow together. he just doesnt fit. Barrett and Quickly both had plays where they stood wide open and waved their hands and Siakam still took a bad contestec jumper. Selfish and desperate.
pizza pizza is decent if you out of the city. I think fast food in general is better the more outside of the toronto you get
Coach mo was right Scottie is their leading rebounder
To unlock him to a triple double machine he cannot be the main assignment on opposing teams beset wing player night in night out. We have to unlock RJ on defensive. He has the tools to be a solid half court defender
The new IQ raptors are a good road team.
Wish I could track the usage of the word Quick in Toronto over the next year.. 😂
Amazing what having a proper point guard who has a handle, speed, can get into the paint and most of all can shoot can do for a team. Makes the whole line up a lot more natural – it was the foundation of our 10 years of success. Having a ponnt guard also makes the centre better – Poetle was great. Dennis was good in his natural roll off the bench. The whole positionless experiement was an interesting idea but it doesn't work. First time I have seen this Porter guy – I was impressed with his size, molibity and defense. Gary is a stiff looking player – never excited to see him put the ball on the floor. He needs to start moving without the ball and find open outside shots.
Coaching makes a big difference and it does leave hope for RJ. Thibs was weak, as a very low basketball IQ, wasn't flexible and wasn't willing to sit RJ when he was playing poorly.
Even some basic accountability will help but real coaching that ends as much of his bad play as possible while doing things to make it easier for him can bring dramatic improvement.
After IQs first summer league I was positive he was the PG of the future for the Knicks. A player who cares more about making players around him good than getting a shot.
I still can't believe Thibs would never give him a chance. He was the best PG in New York every year of his career.
Brunson is a very good offensive player but he's a one way player who is basically a SG who is too short to play SG. Quickley is a PG who makes all of his teammates better and cares more about wins than stats.
Dre is amazing and I'd take him for nothing is an odd take.
He lost me with trading for draymond
My issue with RJ is he has to force other teams to defend him and he couldn't do that in NY.
Any chance of getting finney-smith?
Playoff take ignores that RJ wasn't defended in the playoffs, IQ was the focus of the D from the second he got on the floor and that the Knicks make RJ part of the offense no matter what while Quickley is lucky to get a pass in the first quarter unless he promises to give the ball back.
I like what I saw from IQ and Pascal this game. Right now they’re the actual 1-2 punch offensively with Scottie seeing to be in ‘get in where you fit in’ mode offensively still. Interested to see how that dynamic evolves as we have 3-4 players now who are markedly more aggressive looking for scoring opportunities than him. Especially with him being absent on the All-Star voting returns he’s got to see that it’s time he begin imposing himself as an offensive force.
Getting those FGAs up to 18-20 every game, and an extra couple trips to the line along the way should bring him into 25ppg territory. Fans still need to see that, few people are tuning into Raps games this yr and you can’t blame them. Scottie needs to learn from IQ and RJ about the mentality of a scorer, because he can do it better than those guys. Would love to hear you talk about this and the all star returns.
Re: PS trade talk, we know for sure what we need now. A blue chip/4star stretch big that can defend, and a role player wing defender that can space the floor (what Otto should be.) I like Naz Reid for the archetype, as it’s rare in this league. Otherwise I’m targetting Caruso HARD. Few teams can put together this return, but I’ve ran through some 3 team models that work.
Why are we seeking a 3 and 4? Shouldn’t we be focusing on a 5?
Scottie
IQ
RJ
Pascal
??? Dray?
Still waiting thing for a pascal trade man I really want one
Best pizza is Maker, and best dip is Blondie's. Pizza Nova is the best chain, so I hear you, Rob.
Whoever the caller was who likes pineapple on pizza… dude, you gotta order yourself a Tropic Thunder pizza from "Maker" ASAP – best Hawaiian of all time.
Draymond broke jv's thumb on a dirty play and that's when I began to dislike him, it was a blind reach around chop
he has gotten away with a lot over the years
Hey Rob, I would like to call in on the next live stream. How exactly can I do that?
What are your 3 or 4 targets for trade compensation for Pascal Siakam, if he is dealt? Immediately after the OG trade you talked about what a great fit IQ is for Scottie. What types of players do you see that are possible for us to acquire that feel like equally good fits? Stretch 4? Thx
