[Darius Soriano] The Audacity of D’Angelo Russell

I love this article, but not as much as I’ve loved the way D’Lo is playing lately. I think he’s really hit something interesting: the best way to help LeBron and AD might just be for him to not defer to them, but instead to call his own number more.

It’s certainly been working since he came back. Let’s see if he can keep this up

When I rewatched the game yesterday, I literally said, “Damn, the audacity to take that shot…”

D’Lo calling his own number won’t always work. In fact, the margin for error is actually pretty thin. However, it’s still good that he’s forcing LeBron to play off-ball more. That’s what LeBron has wanted. The Lakers just needed someone to do it, not ask for permission.

  2. I think Murray gives us a better chance at a championship.

I found it fascinating in the 4th he waves Bron off, Bron is clearly upset. The play didn’t work, but we get the ball back. Dlo then tries to find Bron, turnover. Then he takes the most contextually insane shot I’ve seen in a long time and buries it.

That shot honestly made me want to keep him lol if we can find a competent backup guard and a better 3rd string Center, we’re in decent shape. I get that it makes sense to move him, but I’m willing to take the chance if we can snag a guy like Brogdon to play 6th man for us.
