Coach Taylor Jenkins Press Conference | Kings vs. Grizzlies

I you were down about and when jar got foul what’s theas uh we were on defense just wanted to save him possession uh probably could have called timeout shorter after that to get him back in yeah decisive and aggressive uh thought he did some good things defensively uh make quick decisions on

The offensive side obviously knocked down some shots early in the first half um but just you know he was trying to get acclimated with his teammates out there you know um hadn’t played with these guys in a really long time but I thought he did some really nice things

Uh got to the free throw line on decisive move rebound assist um in his minutes he he was productive for us there were a lot of reaches on paper where people would not think you guys would have been competitive tonight against that team given how many guys

You were missing and was all way to the end what do you think that says about just the competitive Spirit of the group overall yeah we we got one of the best in the league our guys love to compete that’s how that’s how we’ve always operated so I was not surprised by the

Performance tonight obviously disappointed we didn’t come out with a win but so proud how our guys have battled uh all season long but especially in these last two games you know even though they were losses I think games last struggled you think uh ball movement hasn’t been as

Consistent um you know we uh we’re trying to play fast but you know we’re not making the early decisions and we’re kind of leaning into just like one action and create our offense at times um you know even as as great as jiren’s playing uh you know creating that

Gravitational pulse not just him like when we’re in our drive game with see shifts we’re we’re making the reads a little bit too late to create another advantage to play off of um and obviously you know uh 20 I can’t remember what the assist total was last

You got to make shots to get the assist but I don’t think the ball movement’s been great the last two games also oh had a blast I mean the way we came out and obviously weather some storms even when they took a lead and obviously they they made some shots down

The stretch and a couple possessions you know go back watch the film where we could clean up be a little bit better in the fourth quarter but this is great learning growth for our guys just uh going out you know holding the best offense in lead to 103 points you know

We just got to find ways to consistently play well on the offensive side but the the effort was phenomenal from our group um Taylor so you know you you alluded to in pregame about how Sacramento they’re one of the best three-point shooting teams in the league

You were trying to limit that they were 11 of 38 tonight but gave up 56 paint points so just what did you take away from uh the team’s defensive performance tonight yeah I mean I thought overall uh three-point defense was good I mean you got to give them credit I mean they they

Moved the ball well they missed some shots U missed some open ones but we had some great contested shots Second Chance points hurt us in that first half um they end up with 17 in the game and then just uh you know the paint points we got

To clean that up you know they do a good job with interior passing some of their drives or rotations um you know they just beat us on a couple of their next actions restal yeah it’s going to be great physical mental rest uh tomorrow we’ll be locked out and then we’ll come

Back have uh you know short and sweet practice going into another back toback um and just continue to focus on the things we got to clean up U that we’ve been prioritizing the last couple of weeks so I think the guys will be uh really excited about tomorrow’s day and

Then excited to get back to work on Wednesday getting ready for the back to B back great thanks everybody

  1. I miss Morant, Bane , Smart, Kennard. JJJ has only 3 rebounds today 😳 (while Roddy has 10 rebounds, and Sabonis 26 rebounds). and again JJJ could not lead the, Team in clutch . sadly JJJ is not a leader and I think at this point everybody understands that. he needs to improve his game and the team needs to create better chances in clutch.
