I’ve accepted that Josh Giddey is a problem that will hopefully be dealt with in the offseason, but the possession near the end of the game that led to the Chet three made me realize something:
We’re not using Josh Giddey to his full potential. Do you guys ever notice how eager teams are to trap and ice Shai whenever we run actions? Do you guys hate whenever he hits J-Will as an outlet and he isn’t skilled enough to take advantage of the four on three? Last night, Mark put Giddey in that position and even though it didn’t work out, I see **MASSIVE** potential in that. Imagine Giddey being able to be spoon fed a straight line drive and using his playmaking to read defenders and spray out to shooters. I need to see it, he’s barely used as a screener.
Edit: To add, this basically murders the strategy of teams putting their big man on him. The last thing they want is their slow footed big out in space and put in a position where he might have to switch onto Shai. I really want to see us go to this more.
