What’s up everybody thanks as always for supporting the show it would mean a lot to me if you would take a second to scroll down and hit that subscribe button to the Hoops Tonight YouTube channel and then follow me on social media on Tik Tok Instagram and Twitter
So you guys don’t miss any of our content over the course of this season all right let’s talk some basketball I’m gonna uh paint an imaginary scenario for you here where LeBron opts out of his team his player option this summer and he calls Kobe Alman and he says I want
To come sign a veteran minimum contract in Cleveland would you take him yeah I think I think people who I would you know like and by the way we got the full Med level we don’t have to cut him that much uh not tax team right now Jason um
Yeah of course I would I mean I have uh you know I you know my co-host Justin I think it gets a little grumpier with LeBron’s Antics and gets finds it more exhausting than I do I kind of think it’s fun it’s kind of silly you know
Like I joke It Feels Like H like a like a cup of your mom’s chicken noodle soup when LeBron is getting a little passive aggressive like I’m I’m just far enough away emotionally now where I can kind of just like see that for what it is um and
The The Narrative of you know him closing out in Cleveland is always super appealed to me um and also maybe this is this is some Napoleon complex stuff but isn’t it kind of nice the idea that the first two times LeBron was a Cavalier he was coming to save them
And as like a present to him on the way out they can be the safe haven for him you know they can be the team that that is ready made to plug him in and become a title Contender um and and help send him off into the sunset you know like I
Think there’s something kind of nice about that narratively like I care about stories as much as then as much as anyone uh like and doesn’t that just feel like the the way it’s supposed to end not just like fading away and you know on unhappy odd fitting teams in La
I don’t know if you know obviously you know supposed to is probably overstepping he’s he’s an adult with his own wants needs you know his kids still in high one of his kids is still in high school you know maybe do like there’s a billion reasons he shouldn’t but just as like a
Basketball narrative isn’t that kind of the coolest story to come back and win one more but this time is the wise old man not as the as the Savior yeah I I don’t think he’s going to leave I agree with you for th for those reasons I but like and I think
This is all classic LeBron just trying to leverage the front office into being more aggressive but like it makes a lot of basketball sense talk about a big playmaking win yeah like it’s like oh all they can do is run pick and roll they need another way to initiate offense it’s
Like oh well LeBron’s one of the best at that like kind of matchup attacking forward position it’s like oh well LeBron typically can’t play the three because he can’t chase guys around on the perimeter it’s like I just watched Evan Mobley Chase kwh Leonard around like like Evan Mobley can kind of take
More of the perimeter oriented assignments at that position it’s like oh well they can struggle sometimes against really physical teams on the defensive glass it’s like I just watched LeBron grab 20 defensive re 20 rebounds in a game against the Warriors the other night like it is a natural basketball
Fit and and to your point like you you know there’s all these other basketball teams that make sense like it’s like he’d be really good in Oklahoma City he’d be really good in Minnesota but it’s like he would never leave to go to a situation like that if he was going to
Leave it would be for something like Cleveland and I love the way you put that in terms of like LeBron came to save Cleveland so to speak but what if Cleveland got to save him you know that’ be that would be that would be I’m sure he’d
Hateing EXA and he P he’d push back on that like crazy I there’s no there yeah that’s exactly what would happen he would he would he would be gunning for stats in the NBA Finals to make sure he got that Finals MVP all right so what is your favorite LeBron moment with the
Cavs that is not the 2016 Championship um I think I have to go back to when I was a kid and the the you know the the explosion against Detroit the 25 straight uh in in 07 um you know I I am of the opinion I so I did not grow up in
A like a a basketball obsessed household because like my dad doesn’t really like sports so like I W I loved basketball when I was a kid don’t get me wrong I watched it with my brother all the time and we loved it we loved you know the
Sha Kobe Lakers and you know my first basketball memory is LeBron’s or I’m sorry Jordan’s last shot against Utah you know I was I was seven or eight years old uh but I really strongly believe like you don’t actually know what the hell you’re watching till
You’re like 16 or 17 I just think before that you’re just a dumb kid that doesn’t really know how to interpret what’s going on so like I feel like that push against the Pistons where he just you know went absolutely ballistic was like it was like my basketball Bar Bar
Mitzvah you know I became a man watching that and like my obsession with the game I feel like went up another notch with that run um and it was just so fun it was like it was like the the first time I watched basketball majesty and had the
Frame of reference to understand it you know and really contextualize it so that’s got to be my favorite cuz you know I I remember exactly where I was I remember calling my mom into the room to to watch like it was like a whole thing so yeah that’s got to be my
Pick I remember like because I that came at a much younger point in my life too and I was just so much more emotional as a fan like I vividly remember Danielle Marshall missing the corner three and being completely devastated in game one and then I vividly remember the news
Cycle about him passing out of the final shot and then I vividly remember game two when he drove down the lane and got fouled like three times on his way to on his way to the basket and that being the whole thing I remember in game three and
Four like just the unbelievable momentum plays he made at home as they tied the series and then I remember even game six after the after game five when he was kind of off and Daniel Gibson went went off and and they it was just like that
Whole series as a you know it’s funny because I I I’m sure you feel this way too we’re like as we’ve become older we’ve almost become jaded to the point where we’re like we we almost underreact to everything which is which is it’s so much more boring than what it was like
When we were kids but dude I remember yeah I remember those those Cavs playoff runs as just being so such an emotional roller coaster and like like even some of the bad ones like the the 20110 run it’s like right before he was so bad and
At the end of that series remember game three when he went in when it was 1 and he just completely obliterated them in Boston like it just yeah it’s crazy my my like foundational basketball moments as a fan are all like LeBron James playoff runs makes sense it’s crazy what
And that’s part of the reason like why I I think anyone who says they don’t want him back I just don’t believe them because like I just think he’s kind of hardcoded especially for Cavs fans like into our basketball DNA for good or for better I mean I remember that first year
He was in Miami and uh there was a big like running bit online Cavs for Mavs like oh let me tell you something Jason I have deleted so many humiliating Facebook statuses complaining about LeBron during the Miami era because you know you get the memories and I’ll see
Some like oh LeBron this guy sucks you know like I was just such a like you know just like just a dumb kid angry at angry that you know my basketball hero left me so like you know like it’s just been such an important part of this this
Uh this era of NBA history and so anyone who’s you know my age maybe a little bit older a little bit younger like like he’s been kind of the at the core of it so of course it’s going to be interesting every time you know like he gets passive aggressive of course people
In my DMs are like L return you know like it’s just gonna be part of it and like that’s kind of part of the fun I don’t expect it to ever happen but like he you know I think he’s the best player of all time and like it’s been really
Really fun to root for him root against him uh he’s he’s never boring and that’s what I think is really funny about him He
Jason Timpf and Carter Rodriguez discuss the possibility of LeBron James going back to Cleveland to finish his career with the Cavaliers. LeBron would be a perfect fit on the Cavs, and it would be the perfect fairy tale ending to LeBron’s historic career.

Man I always wanted Bron to finish in Cleveland
Question if Bron makes his teammates better y has he done it the last 4 years? The truth is he doesn't it a narrative pushed by his team. MJ n kobe made his teammates better by not being snake.
I thought russ was the problem no bron is the problem.
Save Lebron from the Lakers? Please..lol. Lebron was the one who wanted Westbrook before last year, and you see where that got them, the FO managed to fix his mistake. Lebron is also now a garbage leader. The Lakers this offseason were lauded as having a great one. Oh but they arent winning and it has nothing to do with the fact that he sucks as a leader? Take your Lebron loving coke bottle glasses off, and go follow him to whatever team he goes to next, genius.
So many haters in the comments it’s fucking hilarious 😂😂😂😂
I’m in my mid-20s and all my foundational moments as a basketball fan are also linked to Lebron. In fact, I’d day he’s the reason why I became a basketball fan in the first place (Like Carter, I did not grow up in a family that watched much basketball). While I think I will continue to watch basketball even after he retires, my level of interest in the sport will likely decrease significantly.
Even though Lebron hasn’t been the best player in the world for a good few years now, I think he will continue to be the biggest story in the NBA until the day he retires.
Man Bron wants to go to Golden State and become part of Stephs legacy like KD
For me it's such a BS question because if LBJ took a pay cut in La he'd have a better team!
If Adam Sliver has a run like Stern, then the NBA is doomed.
The Lakers are not winning the championship in the 2023-24 season. Get some value for him and trade him to Cleveland, Philadelphia, or New York for draft choices so he can be in the playoffs – and this could prevent the Celtics from winning their 18th championship before the Lakers.
Lebron fanboys are delulu. Lakers mgmt gutted a winning roster so he could bring Westbrook to the team. It was a colossal failure, and the franchise is still recovering. But yeah, poor Bron. FOH.
Dude is done, plays defense like a 60 year old.
Been saying this for a year now, the Cavs literally have the perfect roster for him & putting him on the Cavs would immediately put them in title contention and at the least he’ll be in the ecf
SAVE LeBron James from Lakers or the OTHER way around ?
I have been a LeBron fan for many years. An honest look at his time with the Lakers, will show that he will leave the team in a much worse situation than when he came. The Lakers are going no where, likely for many years.
Hahaha jason out here trying to save lebrons retirement years.
He's not leaving he's wants to stay n la
Move on, Le Bron is yesterday's hero.
There is no way LeBron takes a pay cut.
I mean, he's the most overrated player in the NBA now and ever. BUT he is still the NBA's biggest draw. For that reason, he should get paid as much as possible. No pay cut. Ridiculous.
