Was phenomenal for this team speaks volume for this team um and then even more so the one that doesn’t show up on the stat sheet was the confidence I have no freaking idea to need where this confidence has been uh prior to tonight but I loved it and I’m not sure I’ve

Seen like especially in the first half I hadn’t seen a first half that looked that good since they went up by probably 35 on San Antonio but just a a full game from start to finish I can’t even remember the last time and it may not even be this particular season that I’ve

Seen this team just not only just be confident in their minds but be confident in their play um it looked like they were playing playing basically because essentially what the Lakers look like to me was you know if you can remember back with Zion Williamson in

High school how he looked like he was playing with a bunch of 12 year olds well that looked like LeBron James on tonight and the Hawks you know took advantage of that yeah um and they looked really good especially with no I have a new name by the way for uh

Anthony Davis how about this one tanicha who was sitting out tonight Anthony data Davis no Anthony Davis yet again and I think that’s something else that helped you know catapult the Hawks getting the win tonight yeah and I think too couple things there number one yeah you’re

Absolutely right LeBron was kind of a oneman show tonight yeah there were signs of others every now and again ruy haimura would show up and do a little something Austin Reeves would show up and do a little something but the point is everybody only showed up to do a

Little something with the Lakers and I think the demonstration of that was when LeBron went up for this really great block and mus blonde get the the block the rebound take the ball coast to coast and score and that’s kind of the look he

Had on my fa on his face like must I do it all and that kind of was the tale of what happened and really the Lakers looked like a team coming off of a back-to-back in Houston last night and a team that only had one gun because the

Other gun the day-to-day gun was clearly not out there and hey look all you can do is play the players that are on the court and that’s exactly what the Hawks did in for me it was more about the second half because I’ve seen some strong first halfes from this team but I

Was saying over at my other gig earlier today that it’s about the full 48 and the full 48 represents consistency it doesn’t mean that you absolutely dominated All 48 minutes it means you played all 48 minutes that’s one of the definitions of consistency that will ensure that deshaun’s not having a take

That says consistently inconsistent that that’s one of those right and then like you said not only to shoot free throws at a clip of 89% but to make sure that when the Lakers got to the line and they missed their free throws that you got the rebound to ensure that there was no

Putb so that that team could never get to any closer but within 10 points of the Hawks and there were so many other areas where they won statistically like you said rebounds they won 46 to 37 and they won in an area where they were rarely rarely win which is at perimeter

Outshooting 42% to 36% but I do think you make an excellent point about the nonat which is the fact that everybody showed up to play and we mean that literally we’re going to talk about some of those everybodies in the N1 because this is the first time since very late

In November that all eight the five starters and the three who come off the bench in the rotation for the Hawks this is the first time in almost two months that all eight of them have actually been in the lineup dressed out and ready to play that speaks something I don’t

Think we talk enough about the health challenges that the Hawks continue to have and I think one of the reasons take that we don’t is because you and I don’t want to use that as an excuse or a crutch because that happens to every team in this league at some point in

Time it’s just that for whatever reason with the Hawks often times at least the last three seasons that I can think of or Seasons that I can remember it’s been early season injury woses that have costed them and then they’ve had to kind of paddle Upstream

Later in the season to well let’s just be honest to paddle their way into the playing round you mentioned something else T that I thought was very interesting about first times that we’ve seen something you know first time that we’ve seen you know all eight of these

Players on the floor same time kind of seem like they’re in sync uh all you know on the same wavelength and so forth this might be the first time that we might be having you know a show in which we don’t mention consistently inconsistent this might be

The first time that we don’t really have to mention who’s the random hi my name is you know who’s that guy that always seems like he kills the Hawks who nobody knows who this guy is until they miraculously have to play the Hawks so just definitely uh want to make sure

That I throw that out there as well yeah no R what do we call him the RRP the random role player no RPS tonight people not at all there was one guy who had the audacity to shoot 18 points but we’re not even going to respect you with

Giving you giving our audience his name anyway my take from tonight is bog Don bonovich he is the Sixth Man of the Year candidate that we do not talk enough about there are not enough superlatives to talk about bogy because honestly he was where the game really jump started

And there were each player you could say had his moment in this game each each Hawks player because there were seven Hawks players in double digits right but I think with bogdon bogdanovich he’s the one that I wanted to kind of single out because let’s face it deshaan this is a

20 and 27 team if this was a 27 and 20 team we would be talking about bdon bogdanovich as a legit sixth man but because of where the hwks are record-wise you don’t hear as much Buzz about him and don’t get it twisted he only scored 18 points tonight and he’s

Been scoring in the 20s but that was 18 points in 25 minutes off of four four of nine shooting from three and those weren’t just four threes those were four threes at very very critical junctures in this game so I definitely wanted to give bogdon bogdanovich a shout out

Missing free throws and stuff and that’s when you start having those thoughts like I just don’t I I don’t know like I love Trey but I’m not sure but then there’s these games that kind of bring you back to reality and you’re like yeah I don’t think I

Want to I understand why he is one of two players as it has been rumored that is Untouchable on this team and you don’t want to forget what this team looked like before him when you didn’t have him so you know when you see what

He’s able to do out there and not even from a scoring perspective he kind of talked about it you know in the post game um you know tonight talking about how you know he’s more than just a scorer he can do more than just score the basketball I do understand or

Overstand rather that people fall in love with you know um his style of play or lack thereof some people don’t always but when his shots are falling he makes it very difficult to have conversations about being there being a a better point guard in this league from a standpoint

Of a point guard who is prototypical natural born and breed cerebral high IQ gets guys involved just when there’s people that are out there saying that oh he uses the free throw line as a crutch to gather so many of his points that he averages but on a night like tonight he

Didn’t go to the you know free throw line until the fourth quarter and so you know he kind of elaborated on some of those things as well um and uh I think that’s where you ultimately have to really give him credit and this is where

You stick up for your guy when you see your guy making play like the ones that he did tonight it was like throwing a rock in the ocean from the boat he couldn’t miss a shot and we also talked about the fact that when there’s communication that’s when we’re excited

About the assists 32 assists for the Hawks 28 for the Lakers but 13 of those 32 from Trey we saw good fluid ball movement tonight we saw good communication and the ball was moving from side to side with a purpose that was our question that was our

Frustration in the loss of the m last Friday that there was no intentionality with ball movement but we saw intentionality knowing that hey I I’m I’m going to do what the formula says what Quinn Snyder says the formula says I got the ball I’m gonna pass it because

I have a good shot but you have a better shot or you have the best shot and that ball touching the hands of three or four players results in the fourth player being the one or the third player being the one with the better shot I also

Think it goes to his defense now you talked earlier in this first segment about the fact that there were some non stats things that didn’t make that box score that still were meaningful to this game and one of the stats that you won’t see on a box score is charges right yeah

He’s taking 12 of them this season he’s outdoing Clint capella Clint Capella’s only taking 11 charges this season so he’s now learning how to give up his body and give it up at the appropriate time because oftentimes those charges have led to offensive files that get the

Ball back in the Hawk’s hands so giving them extra possessions in that space I think has been critical as well and we also like to going back to the good stat line we like it when we look at a stat line and we only see three turnovers

From Trey young then we know hey that’s a good night by 11 now speaking of another good night deante Murray if he had gotten one more assist you and I will be talking about four Hawks who had double doubles tonight that’s been the trend for them it would have been for

The second straight game but they’ve actually trended that way in about four of the last five games where you’ve had multiple meaning more than two players who’ve had double doubles of some sort with Deonte getting 23 points excuse me 24 points let me not short him a point

With nine rebounds and I think that’s important because again this is something that we’ve seen a lot of him in the past seven games we’re talking about 20 plus point games seven games in a row and him either getting close to a double double because of assists or

Rebounds take your pick in one of those seven games and it just makes me look at it and say well we all know kind of that the word is still out there about trades even the question was asked of Quin Snider although he declined to comment but the question was asked of him

Postgame even tonight but I think it’s safe to say but I’ll ask the question anyway tat are we still in the keep DJ Camp absolutely you know I I I’ll be honest with you like sometimes a lot of people go off of and I didn’t even take a look at the

Plus minuses and all this some people love the analytics by all means be my guest I’m not the biggest analytics guy numbers guy in the world sometimes I think there is something to say about feel and the reality is is that even for even if for only a very small sample

Size this is starting to feel like it’s starting to work at least of not nothing else better than it was whether it’s the communication piece whether it’s just the the sharing of the ball and it looks like it’s not you know like there’s no hidden agendas in between it or whatever

Unless you’re a fan of one of the other 29 teams um a question has to be asked honestly when having these talks about all these trades and this and that obviously his name is one of the hottest on the market is are you giving it a enough time and I

Have a really funny feeling that in the event that we don’t see deante in a hawk uniform uh much longer after tonight is that’s going to be the common denominating question that is going to be asked is did we give it enough time with try and the rest of the guys um I’m

Not sure that we necessarily have and I want to see him continue to be in Hawk uniform because we’re also seen all the guys like you mentioned earlier healthy all at the same time I’m not saying they’re going to go Eastern Conference fin run but if you remember back to that

Year that was when they made that run because they were never healthy up all the way up until that particular time when it mattered the most so let’s see what it looks like with everybody healthy and um keep them as a HW yeah and I do kind of only disagree with the

Caveat of no I do think it’s been enough time like at this point you’re professionals you’ve been together a year and a half time to burn like no get it together but I say that meaning now the time is now the time has come you you need to have this on a more

Consistent basis hopefully for wins but even in losses there should be some consistency in that back court at this point regardless of if there’s been inconsistency across the entire roster but we’ll talk about it a little bit more in our who got next segment but you

Speak of the plus minus and yeah dejon Murray had a plus 19 when he was on the floor tonight another guy who had a plus 19 with sadique Bay who had another remarkable game 18 points eight rebounds but again don’t get caught up in just 18 points or just eight rebounds because he

Had some critical points and critical boards and putbacks when the Hawks needed it most when the Lakers were really threatening in that third quarter that didn’t become the all pesky you know what it is the pesky third quarter for the Hawks it was tonight and so tonight we also saw the return of

DeAndre Hunter he’ been out of the lineup for five weeks now Dre was of course on a minute restri rtion so sadik got the start Dre played 16 sadik played 35 but Deshawn did you see anything in Bay’s play that encouraged you about what they’ll be able to do or Dre’s play

I should say that will encourage you about what the Hawks will be able to do now with their starter back or Andor has sadique gone on such a tear these last four or five games that made you confident hey you’re getting enough at the three position that you don’t have

To rush Dre back yes and no in terms of me seeing uh and what I saw from DeAndre today I didn’t see a ton of contribution I see where it did help defensively because you’re going to need any and everything you can against the best player in the world being obviously

Number 23 LeBron James um but you know this is kind of where uh in the postgame presser where head coach Quinn Snider did mention you know that um you know he and Jaylen Johnson did a very good job against LeBron on tonight and without him leaving just one guy to go out there

And defend we already saw what that looked like against Luca last week um you know I I I don’t think that that was doing any justice for Jaylen Johnson and his confidence on the defensive side adding his limitations on the offensive side because he’s his job is so big on

The defensive side when you have somebody else that can come over and kind of help assist in that particular Department I think that that’s where it kind of help boost both of those guys on the defensive side um the only thing I think that I did see from DeAndre

Tonight that was pretty convincing is that he’s back and that he’s healthy and that he’s present and that we can actually include him in being an active piece yeah I would say the same and you know I think about like you said Quinn Snider’s post game game comments we just

Need big people like six eight people and sometimes that’s all you need you just need multiple bodies to get in there especially if you have the Good Fortune of being able to look down that other roster or that other lineup and say hey nobody else other than a pseudo

Random player is really contributing and I don’t know if I would call ruy haimura like a random player because he is that guy who kind of floats in and out of their starting lineup so I would say if you’re able to then not have anyone else

That you really need to focus on because the rest of the team is kind of middling then yeah it gives you the opportunity for 16 minutes to have another body in there that can actually make a difference in double teaming where yeah you didn’t have that Liberty on Friday

Because there were a couple of mths who actually were having a fairly decent game so you did have to kind of pay attention to them and play a little bit more man than Zone and then play a little bit less double teaming than probably they would have hoped but

Nonetheless a win is a win is a win now guys you know we don’t really end any show without giving out some flowers because there’s rarely a win of the hwks where don’t have to give flowers to one but we’re going to save those flowers for the other side and who got

By no means was I however however I will keep the same energy and always be the person that will remind the viewers that I did not see this at all and I take a lot of of Pride and what I see with my eyes and by him doing what he’s doing

Being consistent dare I say he’s been the most consistent player for this team all season long um and then putting the nail in the coffin on tonight you know which I do think that the game was pretty much over with at that point but when you have someone that can get out

Into transition on the break and and do a highflying dunk you know with with with and put an emphasis on things put a stamp on things the exclamation point on the game and make it that just that much more better um that it happened against LeBron James in Los Angeles Lakers which

I’m not totally thrilled that he walked off the court the way he did without shaking up with anybody but that’s whole another conversation um I thought that that was great but I want to give my own personal flowers for a quick second I want to give my personal flowers to

Hawks Nation right because there had been too many years and everybody knows what I’m talking about outside of this Market everybody talks about how there’s fair weather Hawks fans and every time that New York team or that La team or whatever they always Ching MVP for the other player and they’re always much

Louder than the home team is and everything else we stood in the Gap tonight you know there wasn’t any of those instances from what I heard it was very you know quiet in that regard was it wasn’t more yellow in there than it was red not that

It ever should be but I want to give those flowers to the Hawks fans because the folks really stood by the Hawks on tonight and I was really happy to see the way that it panned out yeah I would have to agree with you on that one

Because there was only one time where I was like and the reason I was mad was because I heard I heard those cheers and I think it may have been at one point because the Lakers did get it down to like 11 points and 10 points a couple of

Times and I did hear those cheers one time and I was like no like if you want the hwks to win this game like you said you’re going to have to do your part and will them back into having the momentum in this game because there was a point where I was thinking

In fact we were doing some pre-production tweets and as we were getting the show together or or text rather and as we were getting the show together it’s like okay here we go I’m not sure about this because honestly here come these Lakers sounds like the

Energy’s down in the house and I’m not feeling it but just in the nick of time you get contributions with Jaylen Johnson who had six points in that quarter to be a part of Saving off any type of Lakers comeback and then we know what it looked like in the fourth

Quarter the rest of the way for the Hawks to get the 138 122 win now that means the Hawks have two games that they’ve won in this hom stand we want the Hawks to string some wins together you and I even talked about hoping that yes they at least go 500 on the

Homestand and we’d be elated if they could walk away four and two they’ve got the Suns Friday night and they’re looking for their third straight win they might be able to do it because the Suns have actually cooled down a little bit of late they’ve kind of been up and

Down absolutely and listen I mean you know we we we are more than aware of uh you know Devin Booker and what he’s been doing recently in terms of filling up the stat sheet um you know Bradley Beal is has has not been active uh very much

Lately out with an injury and whatnot obviously you have Kevin Durant but I think that this was the confidence booster uh that this team needed and in order to Come Away with a win for it I mean look at what the Hawks did tonight way too many turnovers in the first

Quarter they had five in the first half uh total in they had nine but they cut it shorter and shorter um you know had less and less turnovers every quarter five in the first four in the second two in the third and only one in the fourth quarter progression getting better every

Single possession uh in every single quarter every facet of the game so just hoping that that confidence that we LED with this take away uh at at the beginning of the show to kind of overflow and spill over into the next game on Friday against Phoenix and

Hoping that the um you know Die Hard Hawks Nation can come back out and and be ready to do it all over again yep you got to come out and be strong for these guys because they are going to need you in the building Friday night as well
