[Dane Moore] Mike Conley on what has to happen to have similar ball movement at the end of games as they do earlier in games.

“I’ve said all the time, ‘don’t get bored of kinda doing what works’. And it’s easier said than done, especially in the 4th quarter. In the 4th quarters, we tend to lean on our stars, we lean on the guys who have higher usages, are ball-dominant. And it’s on all of us as players to make their job easier — get spacing right, get into our spots in the right manner. And it’s also on them, at that point, to, now that you’re our decision-maker, that you are willing. We’re gonna give you isos, we’re gonna give nail isos, post ups. Make the right reads, make the right plays. And if you do that, we will win. And most times, that’s how it works. And then some nights we just don’t have it. And tonight was another night we just turned it over too much in late-game, got some bad looks late and just made it tough on ourself.”

If this doesn’t make it obvious then I don’t know what has to be said.

Losses like these are frustrating, but I’m just going to hold out hope that these are necessary and valuable growing pains for Ant and Jaden. Simply taking the ball out of Ant’s hands may have won us the game, but we’re going to need him to take this step in his development if we want to advance in the playoffs. So, let’s take the lumps now and hope it clicks in over the balance of the season.

Everything Mike is saying is right but another yhing I noticed is that we don’t get to the line when things get rough unless a team fouls rudy. Mike Ant and Kat need to be able to get to the line when the offense is falling apart instead of tough isos and turnovers. The Magic went on a 7-0 ft run in that 4th qtr. Scoring with the clock stopped in the 4th is important

Maybe that’s part of the problem. He’s creating a hypothetical of all the different decisions guys could make, and he just listed three different kinds of isos.
