Since there’s been a lot of posts on Free Throws, here is the data

Steph at 27 with 5.5 attempts per game and Bron at 25 with 5.6 attempts. Contrary to popular belief, it’s not the league favoring Bron over Steph. They both have a very bad whistle compared to younger stars which I don’t understand

As far as the league favoring LeBron, it’s because the Lakers as a unit get hella free throws. AR in particular has a whistle for days. Steph not getting calls is the story of his career. As for LeBron, not sure why other than his field goal attempts are down this year so naturally less shots will equal less free throws. Maybe the league is starting to favor the younger generation. Idk. I will say, Damian Lillard, an all-star starter, is having a pretty similar year to Klay Thompson this year, only reason he’s putting up points is because of nine free throws a game. Aside from his incredible game last night, he’s shooting abysmally. Just wanna throw that out there. The only difference between all-star starter Dame and washed Klay is nine free throws a game and Giannis. Maybe that’s a hot take. You tell me.

  2. And you wonder why a lot of these dudes lead the league in scoring while curry is still top 10 in PPG with barely any FTs every game

They’re just Too Good.. it wouldn’t be fair to the younger boys. 🤪

Agreed, both Bron and Curry get disrespected from the refs

  5. OaklandWarrior1

The league definitely favors Bron over Steph when Bron is playing against Steph!

  6. Why are yall so obsessed with lebron and free throws. Its pretty much widely known he doesn’t get that many whistles nowadays

Not about to feel bad for Lebron’s whistle when they make up for it by gifting his teammates calls for days. Lakers lead the league by an insane margin on total free throws attenpted vs opponents while being dead last in drives to the rim.

He hardly gets any free throws other than at game closeout time. I’d love to see where he would be if someone could figure out how to adjust the numbers to exclude being intentionally fouled and technical fouls. My guess is significantly lower.

Curry & Bron stay disrespected. It’s almost as if league is nerfing them.

  10. Angularbackhands

Every single one of these players shoot more rim attempts than Steph Curry.

  11. Agreeable-Audience-5

Lakers shoot a lot more free throws because they need to rest LeOld James. Curry and gsw no rest for you guys no free throws for curry no nothing for the team. Only JK is drawing some fouls but not asuch as he should

I’m confused why is the list so long and there’s no warriors

I know it doesn’t go with the narrative, but the Warriors FTA/Drives is actually top 5 in the league. The team drives very little and Curry has always gotten a pretty bad whistle near the rim, but overall the reason this team doesn’t shoot a lot of free throws seems more like the kind of looks they get.

  14. People keep posting this stat like it has some specific meaning towards Curry. We’re just going to ignore the fact most of the dudes on this list live in the paint, while Curry statistically lives at the arc? Teams generally don’t want to foul 3-point shots, lol.

Crazy if you remove all the free throws Luka would be leading in scoring by a lot

Meanwhile ESPN – “you have to get better at drawing fouls!”

I hate that it’s an acceptable part of the game to waltz your way to the FT line
