Hawks vs. Warriors Postgame Press Conference: Quin Snyder

Hawks vs. Warriors Postgame Press Conference: Quin Snyder

Obviously heck of a game let’s go Ahead coach Deonte had another big fourth quarter in overtime period he’s had some big ones um during this stretch this four game win stretch you just talk about what he’s been doing well yeah you know before I talk about what he did on the offensive end you know um having to

Chase Steph Curry around the whole night um we able to give him a little more help after he got hot but that that has a that takes a toll on you so for him uh to be able to do what he did late you know it’s it when he when he attacks the

Rim um you know he’s able to get you know to spots and and rise up and I think with his length and his release it’s just it’s it’s really difficult to guard and you know those spurts to have been really timely whether it’s the game winners um

Or as you mentioned it you know when it’s late they were started to hit on Trey and you know that’s where um you know it’s difficult to guard DJ in space and you try to provide him you know as much Court as possible where he can um

He can beat you off the dribble you know and he’s been shooting the ball well all year from three and but we know how effective he can be you know at the rim and also in the mid-range you know they talk about a guy being able to score at

All three levels and that’s what he can do and as for Trey it seems like he relishes these kinds of moments the back and forth with him and Steph Curry just coming down clutch in the end can you talk about what you see from him and his competitiveness in those moments yeah

You know he took you he took another big charge you know I talk about that I know but I think those are significant plays and uh you know his ability to to get to the rim and keep you on your heels and then you know he’s he’s been really

Confident from the three um so you know between those two guys you know we become a difficult team to guard when they both have it going coach you have two starting quality bigs with Ana and Clint um when they’re both successful like they were in the paint tonight what goes into the

Decision making of deciding who closes yeah it that’s that’s always you know difficult you know the way the rotations are um you know starting Clint um usually o played you know a significant stretch of minutes um you know coming in in early in the 1 or the third and then

Playing you know for a long stretch so um as you know we finished with both of them and uh you know there’s games where you know I thought they were both terrific so it becomes really really difficult I I think you know oh had so much life to tonight and you know golden

State was small and we were cross matching and he was guarding a wing um but more than that you know it’s hard to talk about one without talking about the other but I thought you know Ona’s rebounding late in the game um he was crashing the offensive glass but on the

Defensive glass it seemed like he just gobbled him up and earlier in the game I thought some of those long rebounds um they were able to get if they get those a lot of times it ends up in in a three so you know him being able to secure

Those rebounds and it seemed like when he didn’t get it JJ got it so it was uh giving them only one shot is a huge part of playing them coach just to piggy back off of that I believe it was 58 points in the paint last night 72 points in the

Paint tonight you know going against two teams back to back who like to shoot the three a lot just your uh your dominance in the in the paint when you know that’s a two but they’re shooting threes but just to kind of maintain and and en force that dominance in the paint you

Have to be happy with the back toback games yeah you know and shooting the three actually helps you get in the paint you know because you’re able to create spacing and you know we talked about Trey and DJ getting by um JJ’s able to do that as well and I thought he

Did a really good job tonight of being under control when he got in there made some passes out and finished some made some passes to the rim threw a couple lobs uh so you know it was something we talked about we talked about at timeouts

Just felt like if we could get in there good things would happen and we were able to do that coach U Jonathan kaminga has been on a crazy scoring stretch I think the past seven games he scored above 20 points he gave us a lot of trouble when we matched up in Golden

State and that’s the type of archetype we typically struggle against so what do you think worked particularly well tonight holding him to just 16 points I think you know guys that were on him um you know we had a few different matchups on them but primarily you know JJ um

Hunt guarded him some too and I I thought we did a better job of of not giving ground you know and keeping our feet when we were there you know they were he was driving the ball so effectively and he’s so strong um that he’s able to create space and I thought

Our guys did a better job of just level them off and and not giving ground and we also kept our feet you know a number of times when he shot faking and he steps around you we didn’t stand up and we didn’t um go for those fakes and that

That was a big part of it as well night two of a back toback is often times when you can see your team get heavy legs but for you guys to go into that overtime period go on that 110 run to start it and and finish this one out strong what

Did you see from your team just from that endurance perspective well they were on a backto back two you know so maybe we were both moving slow I don’t know I thought both teams you know really competed um and I think sometimes you know it’s why you don’t accept you

Know the fatigue component because that I think there was a lot of adrenaline out there tonight as well we’ll probably feel it a little bit tomorrow over here um three games three big wins against Western Conference foes uh what’s the energy in the locker room as you’re continuously making the push

To get to 500 and over 500 eventually well I’m we’re making a push to continue to play well you know and I think that’s when you play well you’ve got a better chance to win and we’ve had some guys individually that have had you know high

Level games for us as well you know and I think our effort defensively you know it’s hard to say that when Steph Curry does what he did but th those weren’t easy baskets you know it’s um it’s difficult to contain him um when you’re fighting through two three screens and

If he has you know some of those shots were contesting from behind some of were contested um you know with our bigs and then you start standing up and he drives by you but I thought collectively our defense um there was a focus and especially late

You know you could kind of feel our guys um come together defensively late coach I know it’s you know it’s one game at a time but you win one you win two you win three suddenly you got a streak uh you could just com three a

Streak yeah well four is a streak four is a streak okay well you tell me what’s the streak how you feeling I don’t believe in streaks you that’s um I believe in playing well and you know I if we can have a streak you know I don’t

Know where that number is but you know I like to win and our guys do too so if we keep doing some of the things we’re doing you know hopefully we can win a few more thanks okay
