Thought this video explained the upsides of trading for a commonly discussed potential trade target pretty well

He doesn’t fit the “presti mold” or however you want to call the type of bigs that the thunder have employed recently, but I think he fits quite well on this thunder roster. The name of the game in the playoffs is versatility, and drummond adds a physical dynamic that can bolster our versatility considerably. There is no defender with his size and mobility on this thunder roster. There is no rebounder like him either. You don’t have to play him heavy minutes or even make him a permanent rotational piece, but he can be the difference in certain matchups.

As weird as it sounds, I’d love Andre Drummond.

The whole “He’d clog the floor!” thing is true to an extent, but let me propose an X’s and O’s hypothetical:

It’s our normal end of Q1 lineup with Shai, Joe, Wiggins, Kenrich, and in this scenario, Drummond.

We can run a 4-Out/1-In system with Drummond continuously either setting ball screens for Shai, or setting pin downs for others. He’s not clogging the lane if he’s setting big body screens out on the perimeter. There’s also genuine value in having him in the dunker spot on Shai isolations.

Defensively, he can do everything that Jaylin does, but at a much, much higher level and he’d be the best rebounder we’ve had since Steven Adams. I like it, especially if we can get him for two of our twenty-two seconds.
