I may be biased but how is Coby 14-1 to win MIP?

It seems like this should be a closer race

Whats even more wild is not seeing Jalen Johnson on this list.

  2. Maxey is going to win that award unless he gets hurt. He has the national media attention and he’s now the #1 option on the Sixers. Coby has been a revelation but nobody’s touching Maxey.

lmk if im misunderstood but didnt maxey start last year and have multiple 40 pt games?

Simply put, it’s because the Bulls aren’t doing well. Award candidates on bad teams rarely get the nod unless they’re playing at an MVP level, and this is true across all of the major sports.

For sure it should be closer. Maxey went from “one of the main guys” to “one of the main guys but better”. Coby went from 7th(?) man to THE guy in most games.

Maxey and Sengun are both really good and it helps that they didn’t start the season slow like Coby and the media pays attention to them. They’ve all made pretty significant jumps it’s honestly a matter of personal opinion.

Bulls are a franchise no one cares about at all league wide right now

All the former MIPs earn at least another accolade that season or are fringe accolade guys. Coby is not.

It’s also supposed to be against all of your cumulative seasons. Coby has come into his own but he was just in a very minimized role which makes the leap seem greater than it is.

Simply put, Coby didn’t start the season like this. If he’d been playing like this all season, he might be the favorite.

Also, there’s still a lot of season left. So who knows, he still could win.

Maxey literally broke out last year lmao

Because it’s a fairly stupid award with pretty amorphous criteria outside of the narrative that gives voters the fuzziest feelings that year.
