Burks would def help but I feel like Burks should be a buyout option vs a guy we actually trade for

I’m a fan of this, would rather him than Clarkson

Especially since it seems like Portland isn’t trading Brogdon

Bruce Brown is nice but he’s another Josh Hart and we don’t need another Josh Hart, we need a ball handler

  3. YanksJetsKnicks

I’d be pretty stunned if we used Fournier’s expiring on Burks. Unless the plan was to immediately sign him to an extension, so we can trade him in the off-season.

I’ve looked at trade checkers and can’t figure out what the deal would be. We don’t have anyone to match salaries with and his deal is too big to absorb with an exception.

  5. iamdanabnormal

With it. Give them a few seconds and call it a day.

  6. This deal would have to include a smaller prerequisite for salary reasons, like a Malachi Flynn for Killian Hayes straight up in a separate trade before a Fournier and picks for Burks type-deal.

Just can’t imagine making the money work unless another team is involved and wants to take a flyer on someone like Killian.

This feels inevitable- I don’t mind, burks was solid for us

  8. Accomplished_Power_3

Sure, I’d welcome Burks back . Bet it wouldn’t cost much either . It’s awesome having a competent FO

  9. top-knowledge

We really don’t need another guy with durability issues

With Burks coming in, who leaves the rotation when fully healthy? Most likely Deuce, but doesn’t feel fair to him.

Don’t mind this, Burks was fine here when he wasn’t shoved as the primary PG. off the bench he was usually reliable and it won’t cost much.

Second time Burks had to get involved in the Kemba, Fournier debacle.

Those off-season signings truly were fucking terrible in hindsight.

  13. ObiOneKenobae

He knows the system and gives us some great 3pt offense, probably enough of a floor general to get guys in the right spots. His efficiency inside the arc is painful, but I’d be happy to have him if he can be acquired with second round picks.

  14. bailaoban

He’s a solid, low-risk add to help our bench scoring. Let’s bring him back an get everyone else healthy.

  15. montecarlo1

Only thing that I hated about Burks was his lack of ability to inbound the ball. Then for no reason Thibs keep putting him back to inbound.

  16. Snuggle__Monster

This feels likely at this point. I don’t think plans A-D are gonna pan out so they will go with the most reliable and familiar to them. This is the safe move.

Assuming we don’t have to give up too much, this would be great. He knows how to play for Thibs, would be a great addition to the bench for scoring, and is a high character guy that’s probably hungry for winning basketball after being on the Pistons. I hope this happens.

  18. Think everyone is overthinking the salary for next year thing. Thibs is trying to win right now and he’s a better fit than clarkson or brown. Still got guys on here trying to do the math into a Donovan Mitchell trade 😂😂

  19. Lazarus704

I’ve always liked Burks. Good Knick and I still remember that Game 1 performance he had against the Hawks… even if it ended up being a loss for us, he showed he is able to produce in the playoffs

  20. Throw in assets and try to bring in Jaden Ivey alongside Burks 👀

  21. Burks as starting point guard? nawwwwww, Burks as secondary point guard on the 2nd unit? yissss

  22. ouroboros_21

He’ll be cheap (maybe a 2nd). This is what we need. Adding depth without trading away Grimes or firsts. Make it so.

  23. Is Burks really what we use the Fournier contract on?

  24. ObviousAnswerGuy

Burks is NOT the same player he was for us. He fell off, hard. Trust me, Brodgon or Bruce Brown would be 1000% better.

  25. thehiddenchamber

    This is terrible news.

Burks is nowhere near the same guy he was a few years ago.

    Please no.

  26. Ishtastic08

Repeat after me, Thibs: BURKS IS NOT A POINT GUARD

  27. velocissimo

I love the idea of Alec Burks. I hate the idea of Point Guard Alec Burks. Just let him play his natural position if we get him lol
