Bobby Marks reacts to Knicks-Pistons trade 🚨 ‘I LOVE what New York is doing!’ | NBA on ESPN

All right happy Thursday trade deadline day I’m in studio y uh Studio e is where we’re doing the show from um no that is not a trade um it has been it was it was like basically you’re going out fishing right putting bait out there nothing nothing nothing then this

Morning all does take couple good bait to get some fish going so quick video before uh we get the show on ESPN at 1:00 the trade deadline show we’ve seen a bunch of flurries here certainly um I want to talk a lot about New York and

Detroit um but we saw uh ran Holmes and we’ll figure we’ll see what draft capital is going um the Wizards way for Daniel Gafford who’s on a really good contract mid-level type not mid-level type money um Mavericks only had a first and two seconds to use in a deal we’ll

See what happens there um we saw Philadelphia go under the luxury tax but also improved their roster in the Buddy heel trade we’ll see what happens what else they can do as far as maybe in the the buyout Market they still have a bunch of expiring contracts out there

Certainly Robert Covington still kept the powder uh dry as far as their first they have they traded out um a total of four seconds um what else did we see we’re still waiting to see what happens with the Gordon Hayward trade Hayward has a trade bonus that could hold things

Up there um he needs to basically amend that for this deal to work um and then of course what New York has been doing I love what New York has done um bogdanovic who I thought was worth a first round pick they didn’t have to trade any first and Alex Burke who’s

Shooting 44% from three those two players come in um Quinton Grimes goes out who’s on who’s got two years left on his rookie contract Evan fornier we’ve circled fornier all along who’s got two years left in a team option for next year um 18 and 19 uh in change Ryan Archer diako

Who’s on a veteran minimum and then Malachi Flynn who they got in the trade with Toronto is on the last year of his contract four go out two come in Burks is on an expiring contract my phone keeps on like uh Burks is on an expiring $10.5 million contract bogdanovic’s got

Um 20 million this year uh right around 19 next year but only 2 million is guaranteed trigger date is right before the start of um you know the trigger date I’m going to let me just pull this up real quick I’m sorry here um I’m gonna hold on folks let’s see here the

Trigger date for bogdanovic is uh right before the start of uh free agency I think it’s uh June 28th don’t quote me on it but it’s right before the start of free agency here so I love it for New York I think it’s um I think

It’s I mean you didn’t you didn’t have to trade a first you still have your eight you had 11 seconds fine move them out there you get two players that can come in right now um gives you you know some uh much needed shooting here big

Wing in BD donovic I was in that New Jersey front office that drafted him I know him real well Alec Burks New York fans are familiar with has shot the crap out of the ball really well um it gives them some uh maybe they have to if they

Have to flip bogdanovic in the off season that’s basically the same as having that for a contract except they don’t have to decline that option now um they are the winners so far um usually when I say they’re the winners usually backfires but New York so far um I love

What they have done they have improved their roster I like what Philly has done because they could have basically waved the flag and basically settled in and wait till embiid got back but buddy hee gives them some extra shooting I’m not sure quite what Detroit has is doing um

They’ve got some roster maintenance that they need to do they basically have traded um they’ve taken back seven and they haven’t done the trade calls yet so there’s still some time to figure out what they they basically have taken back seven and traded out three and they basically have 19 players on the

Contract you can only have 15 so there’s still more deals to be moved before um before Detroit gets on these these these trade calls here bogdanovic I thought two seconds for Burks but then when you add bogdanovic into the deal um that is that is not as much as I

Thought that they potentially could get unless they really value um Quinton Grimes who uh as I said is going to be extension eligible and maybe they think that’s kind of equal to a first in there um and so we’ll see how that flushes out more uh we saw Utah and um Toronto make

A trade certainly Kelly oin and OJ aaji to um to Toronto for Otto Porter um uh Carol Lewis Jr and then a 2024 first likely the Thunders um for Toronto it makes sense basically you flip out a late first for a player that was drafted

14th and can come in and give you a big wing and O Lin goes goes uh home to Canada and um so that is you know basically kind of a six-minute recap as far as the trade deadline as far as Thursday morning but I really like the

Deals for New York I think it we’ve kind of talked about this at length as far as what they had to trade how do you flexibility they still have those eight first to use in the uh in the summer um they’ve got nine seconds now um they’re

Still well below the luxury tax they have roster spots available Philly gets a shooter uh we will see more um you know over the course of the next you know four or five hours four well I guess the next three hours here as far as what happens um with the with the

Trade deadline show one to five on ESPN and ESPN 2 W and I are doing a um an intim legler and Cassidy are doing a show at 4:30 um and we will have plenty of recap myself and Zach low a podcast tonight so plenty of stuff coming your way we will talk [Applause] [Applause] soon

Bobby Marks recaps what we’ve seen thus far on NBA trade deadline day headlined by the New York Knicks trading Quentin Grimes, Malachi Flynn, Evan Fournier, Ryan Arcidiacono and two second-round picks to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks.

  1. As a Detroiter, I have to say Congratulations for hosing the Pistons. Bogie is a great player, but other teams will attack him on defense. The Pistons are either stupid, or they MUST have another deal in the making.

  2. Knicks were too defense heavy. Now you added the scoring that left via quickley. Also bogdanovic has experience and more polished

  3. Leon Rose and Tom Thibodeau saved the Knicks since 2020 they will now have made the playoffs 3 of 4 seasons and still have all their firsts.

  4. The warriors couldn't have put together a better package with the pistons? A team is only as good as the management. Great job Knicks! They are contenders now

  5. absolute win for the knicks. pistons could've had a better return for bojan, they should've traded him last year. getting grimes isn't bad tho

  6. This is like adding a bigger DVO. We have 2 3pt snipers now. Plus Burks is a good bench player too. He was clutch in NY.

  7. 3 vs 4 matchup in the playoffs Bucks vs Knicks bye bye Knicks all that hype bounced in the first round

  8. Bogy is a baller. Legit 20 ppg scorer. This will take some pressure off of Brunson and Randle( whenever he comes back). Donte is balling too. The Knicks look nice. Celtics fan here, but that would be a hell of a series.
