The statue looks kinda weird from that angle/lighting but the pose is pretty benign. I get that she’s a widow and both Kobe Stans and haters have probably been super weird to her for decades but I don’t think many will have an issue with the statue.

Kobe always gets what Kobe wants even if he has to take it
That is a horrible sculpture, looks very odd. Is this a joke?

The pose ain’t the problem, the statue looks awful
bestclipfan
Not the pose I would have chosen, but if that was the one Kobe said he wanted who am I to argue.

Why are his arms so damn skinny
Edit: it’s not his arms, it’s his nonexistent right shoulder
okayokayokay420
Even if he picked it that looks like shit compared to the iconic other poses they could’ve used
OnCloud9_77
Statue is ass
newperson77777777
it’s not bad imo. i mean kobe has a ton of great poses so considering the options maybe they could have picked a better one but it’s like average celebrity statue, imo

I like the pose and that game was iconc . But i thought they were going to go with the fade away pose .
jokelessworld
The pose is a good one, but it’s a shite sculpture. Looks rushed.

I would have thought the famous arms wide out standing on the announce/commentary table with the ball would have been the one. I wonder why Kobe wanted this one?

Who would have an issue with this pose?

How is it that statues 2k+ years ago looked significantly better than some of the ones we’ve seen recently?

The pose isn’t the issue

Kobe told them that he wanted this pose as his statue during their dinner with heath ledger and Brittany murphy after the Dark knight premier.

Without wanting to be insensitive, how?
Fabtacular1
Very on-character for Kobe to decide to commemorate his legacy with a pose from a mid season game in a year in which the Lakers finished 7th in the West and lost in the first round of the playoffs.

He’s doing the trinity.
Looks like he’s tryna get the waiters attention
I’m sorry, but that’s terrible.
Okay, so [it’s him walking off the court after scoring 81.](https://arc-anglerfish-washpost-prod-washpost.s3.amazonaws.com/public/PQ2MWESCEUI6VGOHDX6UEQNC7Y.jpg) That’s a pretty good idea. The proportions on the sculpt are a little weird, but that’s on the artist.
