That’s crazy that Nuggets have won 8 games against the Lakers with that free throw deficit.

  2. I_Set_3_Alarms

I believe they’re also the only team that has gotten a public apology from refs after a blown call instead of excuses for why the refs aren’t at fault. “Sleepless nights” for the refs and NBA when the Lakers and LeBron are wronged

  3. claimsman11

Was this whole b.s talking point not disproven last season?!

Didn’t the like 2014 hornets blow every team in history out of the water?

  4. Parenegade

We were told that we just needed to drive more last playoffs yet this season suddenly people are waking up to the fact that the Lakers have a weird af whistle.

  5. Neinhaltt

Also no foul calls on AD or Lebron last night.

  6. I wish someone would make a compilation of all the fouls they get away with vs the fouls they get in the same game. Shit would easily be weekly content for someone’s youtube

  7. esteban42

No guys, it’s just that the Lakers drive more than other teams.

The Lakers shoot 52% of their shots in the paint compared to the Nuggets 51%! That whole 1% more shots in the paint definitely accounts for the glaring free throw disparity, not a favorable whistle. Stop with the crazy conspiracy theories.

  8. Beleiverofhumanity

400+ free throws more?? Hell combine the 2nd and 3rd place and you’d still have a 100+ discrepancy.

  9. Kevin___Finnerty

Austin Reaves gets superstar calls. Its been obvious

  10. MixInfamous6818

Other than Lakers the entire league doesn’t play in the paint I guess, not just Warriors

  11. Not shocking considering no other franchise has benefitted more from biased officiating over the last 4 decades, but hey, it’s perfectly legal for the NBA and it’s refs to manipulate games.

  12. Every time this comes up people always miss a key part of this statistic, it’s not just that the Lakers get a lot of FTs (they are 7th in the league this year, were 1st last year) it’s that they get called for the fewest fouls in the league (both this year and last). Some of that is probably explained by having good veteran defensive players like AD who commit fewer fouls but with the amount of roster fluctuation they’ve had the last 2 years it is a little strange that they have consistently been called for the fewest fouls.

Can’t wait for the “lakers have been eliminated from playoffs contention thread” for the next 10 years.

LeVegas already gearing up to own the Vegas NBA team

Refs can walk right into the casino!

I’m confused though. The Nuggets are one of the worst teams in the league at getting to the line and the Lakers are 4th best this season, so what’s the discrepancy exactly? To me this reads as expected performance. And I’m a Spurs fan so trust me I fucking hate the lakers too, but still I don’t see the issue per se. The Nuggets don’t get to the line so why shouldn’t LA have more free throws?

  16. ShakesbeerMe

    Overt, obvious corruption.

    The Lakers are utter frauds.

The amount of Laker’s fans struggling, nonsense rationalizations in this thread are hilarious.

  17. Do you people know how this works. The lakers barely foul and have done that since 2020. The lakers also can’t shoot the ball if they’re life depended on it. They’re bottom itl in 3pt% 3pa & 3pm. Even when people bring up the missed foul calls on the lakers(which some will say rigged which I won’t be surprised) you can see when Ad knowns when to time his contest for a block or vertical contest or when to just give the layup, same goes for lebron(yeah he’s ass defensively) but when lebron is on a non shooter and is told to be weak side help if ad isn’t there he knows when to contest/jump and when not too

  18. breighvehart

Obviously the lakers are the only team in league that drives to the basket and draws post up plays. Absolutely nothing to see

  19. Consistent_Category9

They go to the FT a lot, but inserting data from last season to increase the discrepancy doesn’t help

  20. lochmoigh1

Miami New York and Los Angelas being the top 3 cities doesn’t help the refs cheating allegations. But it’s been blatant for a long time in both the NBA and NFL. It’s about money at the end of the day. Lebron and curry out of the playoffs will put a huge dent into the playoff ratings

  21. steve1186

I’ll give the Lakers the benefit of the doubt considering their two best players are known for crashing into the paint and drawing fouls.

This feels a lot like when Kerr was complaining about the FT differential each time they played the Nuggets this year. Well, yeah, if your offense is more focused on the perimeter, of course you’re going to go to the FT line less.

Golden State takes way more perimeter shots than Denver, and Denver takes way more perimeter shots than the Lakers

  22. Oh another thread bitching about Lakers free throws lol must be a day that ends in y 🥱

  23. EmbarrassedHyena3099

Show me 50 guys complaining about free throw disparity, and I’ll show you 49 guys who have absolutely no idea what the hell they’re talking about.

  24. Justheretorecruit

Wonder how all of Lebron teams dating back to the start of heat days ranked in free throws.

  25. duplicatesnowflake

Teams with all star front court players who attack the rim get more free throws.  They also have one of the games greatest rim protectors.  Couple that with some turnstile perimeter defense who don’t play aggressively enough.

Not exactly shocking. They do get some moderate star treatment and you’ve got a few flop merchants out there but this thread is being very obtuse as to why the numbers are what they are.

  26. This sub and bitching about the lakers fts will never get old lmao. Even when the lakers are 9th

  27. turnoffredesign69420

jesus they LOST the fucking game and you guys are still obsessed with posting about them. a 9 seed shouldn’t be getting this much love
