[KCJ] Artūras Karnišovas confirms what already has been reported—ownership would sign off on a rebuild if he wanted to choose that route. Karnišovas has made it clear he doesn’t and wants to stay competitive.

  1. Oh boy instead of ownership being stupid it’s just our pompous dumb ass gm

  2. When even Reinsdorf wants a rebuild and you say no, that is a problem

a lot of people say that the day after the MLB all star game is the slowest. day in professional sports. Nope- NBA trade deadline with the chicago bulls.

  4. Friendly reminder that we hardly have enough cap space to re-sign pat and demar and even if we managed to sign both of them to friendly deals we’ll have no money left over to sign any free agents

Watching AK speak about his decisions…he is the problem

  6. I don’t remotely buy it. Jerry just watched his Sox rebuild go down in massive flames. I don’t think he has an appetite fora rebuild right now, especially with the playin. 6-10 is the goal while staying out of the tax. That is the mandate from ownership

He might be telling the truth, but he’s not gonna say anything else. He’s not gonna throw his boss under the bus.

Man.. ok I gotta go do something else now fuck this car crash

  9. YoHoochIsCrazy

i’d rather keep playing to win than get a weak return for guys that are central to the locker room

well, guess we gotta hang that banner right now then:

    Chicago Bulls 2023-2024 Season

    Competed for a Play-In Spot

I mean yeah , ownership allowed garpax to do it , so no reason that they wouldnt let arturas do it.

Gdi I wanted to give AK the benefit of the doubt and pin some of this on ownership and dude made me eat my words.

Yeah, not buying it. Reinsdorf is in his 80s. Maximizing profit before he dies is the goal, not competitiveness.

Also, classic rebuilds take about 4 years at least to get to some level of consistent playoff team with upward potential. Jerry is probably not going to live that long. Why would he want to see them suck for 3+ years when he could be dead or develop dementia?

I could sort of see it in a totally self-serving sort of way. AK doesn’t want to have to be the one to suffer through the rebuild. Especially since rebuilds are usually when FOs lose their jobs.

He knows Jerry won’t fire him if he can keep the Bulls in the play-in and knows fans will still attend games. He has stars who like each other so no risk of the locker room getting restless. And clearly he thinks if he can’t fleece someone the deals aren’t worth it.

It’s a very selfish worldview but it’s not like I’d risk my job either.

  15. Either he is a loyal soldier who protects Reinsdorf from the “why no rebuild” criticism because he is told to do so by Reinsdorf, which is cowardly but at least somewhat understandable, or he’s one of the worst executives in the NBA.

Either way, go fuck yourself Arturas.

I don’t believe this at all, and the fact that Jerry’s mouthpiece KC tweeted it reinforces that. Jerry and his business partners have made it very clear that the idea is the pay for specifically just enough competitiveness to maybe get some playoff revenue and keep butts in seats, and not a penny more.

this is a fkng lie. no way jerry wants a complete rebuild that would take 5 yrs.

So this guy’s a fucking idiot then.

Demar will walk for nothing now and we will sit in purgatory for another few years
