Plenty of excuses we’re going to make all of them tonight and to help me make excuses for the team I got b a vote listen I just don’t believe in accountability and I think the best way to handle this as media is uh you know

Were up nine points I have to yeah the nine points in the first quarter they were actually killing them they were up more than that but they were up nine points point they give up a three pton makes a horrible turnover straight to Malik monk at the three-point line like

If if pton would have just thrown the ball into the rafters Denver would have been up six at the end instead he throws it right to Malik Buck who drains another three and all of a sudden the nuggets are only up 3532 at the end of one then Payton Watson got three fouls

You guys remember that really early in the second quarter long rest for joic King starting to take a lead nuggets getting worked wow I feel like I’m watch feel like you feel like you just watch you’re taking me right back I feel like I’m downstairs we don’t have highlight you

Know right so I have to describe it inid detail the way deer of the mind hold I do have I do have one more note in here Zeke at the four next to yic I don’t even have any notes about how it went just that it happened it did

Happen uh dine what’s your big takeaway I in all sincerity this game the wheels came off and it was I tweeted this and I believe this scheduling backto backs in the NBA is theft it is theft for the fans it is theft for all people involved

That it was not a competition that was so barsal the thing that we just watched the Denver Nuggets obviously came in with an emotional low we talked about it in the pregame I didn’t I said that I didn’t like the Nuggets chances tonight I mean I didn’t anticipate them getting

Blown out to that degree but it just like it’s what are we doing here like what are we doing yeah back Tob backs are annoying they are annoying I’ll push back a little bit Yeah I think you know obviously the backtack is a dynamic in this game to some exent that absolutely

Is true and compounded by the absences tonight right missing kcp and mpj it was always going to be hard so the circumstances are there I think even still understanding the context there’s some room to criticize Denver’s approach in this game and those absences not withstanding

Denver is I think six and4 now on the second half of in back to backs are they uh this year yeah I think it was you said that was such confidence I saw it from Matt on the timeline so I don’t yeah but I do know if the nuggets have a

Winning record in these situations now it’s compounded by what that game was last night and missing those guys tonight it’s still true that in some of these games sometimes Denver gives themselves a chance and tonight they didn’t you know tonight was a tonight the turnovers were so bad dude such a

Dud so bad and so like that stuff was like maybe backto back catches up to them and they lose this game in the fourth and a tight game and all that but the Nuggets also turn turned in a get blown out effort and they it was sloppy

There were too many turnovers uh the defense wasn’t great and I will so my big takeaway ultimately is I don’t think this tells us anything about the ceiling of this team but I do think one feature of this year this Denver Nuggets team is there are some games where they just

Turn the car off in the middle of the freeway they’re like f it we’re not getting there in time that no one’s enjoying this drive we’re done and and and that’s look it’s frustrating to watch I don’t know if it tells you much about they’re cealing but there have

Been some games this one is one in the knck game where they’re like you know what we’re not doing tonight winning this game and so I I think there’s still some room to criticize their approach even if you understand the context of how this loss went down

Um your I your point might be my big takeaway which is this is now the fourth 20po loss of the season they had another one of 19 points yeah I always am this is a trade of the Denver Nuggets and I actually don’t think it means anything in fact it’s

Kind of cool it kind of disguises the Nuggets even last year their net rating wasn’t crazy and if you look at the Nuggets who now fall sadly the fourth in the Western Conference above them are the Thunder plus 7.8 not net rating raw plus minus plus 7.8 the Timberwolves

Plus 6.3 the Clippers plus 6.1 they all have basically the same record as the Nuggets who are at plus 3.6 the Pelicans behind Denver is plus 4.4 because Denver wins a lot of games by like eight points and they lose more games than most by 25 30 points and it’s

Just like when the wheels are off they’re off and I honestly don’t think it means anything we talk about economy emotion I feel like there’s almost an economy emotion of these as well where it’s like we’re going to lose what does it matter if we lost by 40 which by the

Way as a fan stes yeah not the best viewing experience but I do think it is a trade of this team that I think frustrates me more than it concerns me as far as what it tells me about who they are and this one didn’t even

Frustrate me just cuz as dine said it is a bit of a one of those ones where you never want to concede defeat going into a game although it is noteworthy that both Harrison and Dev took tonight off yeah dude they looked at the schedule and were both like hey man that second

Game of that back to back where they’re in Sacramento can we can I be off that day and I was like why it’s a good game Sacramento man Kings the Kings the fo match up with Murray what are you talking about guys um but I think there’s another thing about backtack

That really was about tonight again I don’t think it means anything but Denver’s legs were a little tired tonight I don’t think they were super tired I think they were grouchy I think their mind like when you’re when yoke is tired he gets technical fouls yeah when

Yoke is tired is when he starts to do like frustration things and tonight man there were two moments in this game when the wheels came off one was the pton Watson turnover that was just an absolute like momentum Crusher that those two the the three that went before

It then the turnover then the other three is a momentum Crusher the other one was joic getting a tech Y and then Murray coming and getting backto back unforced turnovers that was like Denver if you remember in the second half actually had closed the Gap they were

Down 10 and I think they closed it to five or four not like a huge one but a little one yoke and and look I think that yoke should have gotten the foul on that play although we’ll talk about it in a second gets a technical foul out of

FR gives up a fast break layup then gets a tech so that’s a three-point play Murray comes down with two turnover they scor and it was over so those two moments and I think both of those are mental fatigue more than physical fatigue and I think that’s a real thing

In the NBA oh for sure I mean it this again like yes more so than it just being a backtack a backtack after an emotional swell of a game like there is just no hope they they were just drained in their brains were drained they just they gave out you know there

Was such a a big I don’t know it was just last night was momentous and tonight was just like oh man I mean we were talking about it in the pregame like we felt it we felt like low like Brendan vot had to get pumped up by listening to Creed for God

Competitive period um the wheels completely fell off at that point the one thing that I will say that I really am disappointed in in this game is that there were a lot of guys that got real run tonight that don’t typically and they didn’t show out at all nobody

Not one person stepped up in a positive way that make you look at it like oh right okay cool like that guy that’s somebody that you have that didn’t even really play last night that you know is getting an opportunity is get making the

Get the start last game and it a holiday tonight with two players out by the way we should mention kcp mpj both out tonight that’s a big part of this Not only was it a back toback but also those guys were out so pton Watson gets the

Start and look it wasn’t like he was all bad there were moments in this game where he had some big plays but the fouls first of all I don’t think that he has a foul problem like statistically he doesn’t really seem to have a foul problem but he has had games where

They’ve come in bunches and this was another one where it sucked that he had to get taken out so early cuz I actually think think that was also part of the rhythm of this whole thing was like you’re already short-handed two guys and then Payton Watson gets in foul trouble

You down three guys man we said in the pregame show like his foul trouble was going to be key tonight but I think that that is just a symptom of like that’s what it looks like when Payton wson presses you know it’s not that he gets

14 15 up it’s I’m going to win this game on defense I’m going to make a play a statement play and by the way he made a couple two blocks and a steel tonight three stocks in 20 minutes that just is he is susceptible to that and I think

You’re right that’s the right way to put it they they cluster up and he misses time on the court so that is a goal for him and I do think right now pton Watson might need to just take a deep breath yeah there’s been a lot of pton Watson

Hype and I think rightfully so and intrig and we had him on this show and it was awesome um and I think he is who we all say he is but I also think maybe right now Malone could pull him aside and say hey like let’s you think he

Needs to grab him grab grab a guy and just say hey like let’s take a deep breath and make it make sure that the effort’s there but like let’s make sure it’s a focused a focused effort like it has been um and and again like this is a

Lot of guys played poorly tonight I’m just thinking about pton over the last handful I asked Malone the other day this is like three games back whenever I was at the arena maybe it was two I have no idea I asked Malone about his pton Watson’s mental part of Defense I was

Like does it feel like he’s really picking up the game and Malone immediately goes well you know he committed that foul 90 ft from the basket and then he’s like but to your point he’s been doing and I just thought it was really funny that kind of almost

Leading Malone like it was a bad question by me honestly leading Malone to an answer and he was like no no no no no going the other way did you see that dumb foul that’s how I felt about that play tonight where I don’t want to

Berate a guy over one play it could happen to anybody but it was one of those ones where it’s like yeah but this is the big leagues and when you’re short-handed and you make that play your odds of winning just plummet and that’s so it’s one of it’s like a learning

Experience tonight was a learning experience for the guys and some of them didn’t step up to the plate necessarily and have great nights and pton had some of those tonight like tried to dunk would have been awesome maybe change the momentum also were you going to finish

The fireman he comes in made a couple of uh assists that were nice but like then we got too much fireman he end up like he shot like 10 shots it was like oh man all right come on like like I didn’t love that idea of a fireman Dude too

Much I didn’t love to Too Much fireman a lot of Justin holiday Reggie Jackson like got got some serious like main character syndrome um had some good moments but really like was just doing way too much um Christian Brown had an okay night you know like he was okay he

Had 13 points he was the yeah third leading scorer behind in the context of this game he was one of the better nuggets but he in the in the context of the NBA he was like okay you’re right he was better than Jay Huff tonight he was

Better like right but I mean like I mean truly you know it it the better question is like who had a good game today well there was one more I thought they were going to get to I’m getting I thought you were going through the list here I

Thought you were going to talk about Zeke oh I to me Zeke played in such inconsequential minutes it’s kind of true he had to me Zeke had like a he had a good finish he got about I’m with you actually I thought he was fine he actually played like fine he didn’t look

He wasn’t the complete disaster like he can look sometimes he got like I think a minute and a half or 2 minutes at the four which is like but but then he went right back to being the five well that’s when your Reggie stretch came in cuz

They call a timeout and actually to show you how bad it was this is the truth to show you how bad tonight got Michael Malone was looking for a shot in the arm he was looking for a shot in the arm and he looked down his bench and he was like

My best shot is Zeke Naji at Zeke Naji is my best shot of giving some energy to it and like Zeke poor Zeke is in that scenario but yes to your point Reggie Jack as soon as Z comes in Reggie comes in gets two turnovers in a row they

Don’t even get a a single like pass in the half before they get two turnovers off it Malone’s like ready to throw a chair right it was terrible so he didn’t really he didn’t really get the opportunity that we that least I have been pounding the table for it at least
