Another Tough “Competitive” Loss for the Bulls vs the Magic

I’m going to make this one quick guys one because it’s late I’ve got sick kids at home Super Bowl tomorrow and also the Bulls lost a tough loss and yet another opportunity for a win this was actually a fun game to watch though I mentioned

That on Twitter and a lot of people got mad about it like how was this a fun game I don’t know about you guys but I enjoy watching competitive back and forth basketball and while there was a lot of frustrating things about this game in terms of how the Bulls Clos

Things out which I’ll get to this was a higher energy High defensive effort from both sides who really wanted to win this game and that’s all I really want to see from this team is actually playing hard and giving maximum effort and look like they actually care about the game of

Basketball now it’s unfortunate because the Bulls really should have won this game I mean they really started making strides in the right direction and playing much better on offense and closing out the first half and then coming right out of the gate on a 90 run

I believe it was to start the third quarter had a decent lead throughout the third and kept up the strong defensive effort but going into the fourth quarter especially around the 7-minute Mark or so they got sloppy they got careless with the ball and the magic started

Lighting them up to get get back into the game and take the lead credit to the magic though because this is an incredible defensive team and that defense goes up a notch in the fourth quarter the Bulls fell behind by five I think it was with about less than two

Minutes to go and I thought yeah there’s no way they’re actually winning this game because the magic and their defense is just too tight right now for them to be able to take it but then they ended up coming back and tying the game they

Got a big time stop with the magic where they were going to go for the lead with less than 20 seconds left the Bulls had the ball in their hands all tied up 16 seconds to go Billy doesn’t call timeout tells the guys to go forward with it and

We get a deep contested three from DeMar de rozan that clanks off the iron now while I get why Billy Donovan didn’t call a timeout don’t want to give the magic a chance to get their defense settled the Bulls were kind of feeling it and converting on the final

Possessions to tie the game trust in your vets I get all that a lot of coaches do that but has there been a situation at all this season in which the Bulls coming down to the final possession of the game and Billy Donovan has opted to not take a timeout to drop

A final play where that proved to be successful where they executed well and got the game winner or at least a near game winner with a few texts left on the clock for a team to try and make a final play I honestly don’t think that has

Happened this season and to see dear hoist up a three on those final seconds yeah that wasn’t it I’m not necessarily mad he took it because guys were just kind of standing around watching him you had Kobe come over with the screen on Jonathan Isaac and then guys just kind

Of stood around no one cut to the basket I’m not sure why Demar didn’t drive to the basket when that’s not his range at all and he had plenty of time to actually make a play at the bucket at least try and draw a foul but yeah I

Mean in those instances you would think a timeout being called to set up a better play or better options on a play instead of trying to make a play on the Fly against one of the better defensive teams in the NBA and then in overtime yeah I mean not the best execution the

Bulls let the first two possessions go a little too easily they couldn’t connect right away on their side and although they made it interesting leading down to the final two possessions of the game uh then dear missed that open dunk to try to bring it within two points and the

Rest of history I think the bigger problem here though is the Bulls went scoreless for far too long in the fourth quarter I believe there was a period of about 4 minutes where they didn’t have a single field goal until those final 3 minutes of the game and a lot of it hate

To say it because of more isolation plays from DeMar de Rosen and again he’s greated those and he’s shown us time and again why he’s so great at closing out games but when those shots aren’t falling it’s time to look for something else and I will say I think fatigue is

Starting to play a factor you know Demar and Kobe they lead the league in total minutes the Bulls have played in a lot of overtime games this season dear isn’t in his 20s anymore and you could see that fatigue Factor setting in with his jumper coming up a little short in the

Fourth the release wasn’t the same as we’re used to seeing not being able to beat guys off the dribble as easily and in those instances it’s where you’d love to see the Bulls go maybe more to Kobe white not that Kobe was really having a great game he was having a very rough

Have been nice to be able to match up their size more in the front court that said though IO had himself a hell of a game in the starting lineup hit five threes tonight a career high for him went 5 for eight overall 7 for2 from the

Field 19 points uh Caruso just being Caruso everywhere on the court had some nice blow buys and attacks to the rim four blocks as well for AC in this game to go along with his eight rebounds and nine points but yeah I mean looking at the box score overall the Bulls did not

Defensive end but it wasn’t enough and it kind of just goes back to the frustrating nature of the front office and they’re in action at the deadline saying this was the best group of guys they decided to move forward with and helping them win for the rest of the

Season staying competitive while a competitive game it was this is yet another display of a play inbound team and nothing much more beyond that even when they are playing at their best with strong effort anyway Bulls fall back to three games below 500 still firmly in
