Patrick Beverley Postgame Press Conference | 2.9.24

Rewind it back less than 20 24 hours or so um how did this all I mean I guess we saw some of it go down with you in terms of how you found out you were coming here and just kind of what was that I announced my own trade is sick brilliant

Yeah so how how did this I mean were you surprised and obviously it’s Milwaukee and a lot of ties here so just how did you process that and um and and and think about the move um uh man it’s been you know NBA world obviously as a player everything happen

So fast obviously um you know my time with the Sixers was great I built some great relationships there you know I was playing some of my best basketball I think I’ve ever played since I’ve been NBA um but uh obviously you know trade deadline this was the only trade I was

Kind of surprised by um yeah I didn’t I didn’t see this coming you know this came way left field but um I’m fortunate that uh you know at this age that I’m playing this type of basketball you know team still want me so uh I’m I’m very fortunate in that

Aspect but um to uh to leave Philly you know come to a contender team uh team that wants to win team that is built to win um I’m fortunate very fortunate um what is it kind of mean that that I mean you’re what this team has been missing

That point of attack Defender you know doc talked about your not just your communication but your attitude The Edge as well to um to know that that all of that was sort of desired and needed here um I guess what does that kind of feel

Like as you as you walk in and try to adjust to the basketball part of it that they just wanted all those intangibles too I mean I think the basketball part is easy right I think for me the hardest part is like you know you know me going

From locker room you know Philly you know hard and soul to to a whole new locker room and you know and and being me implementing my uh you know my passion I have for the game implementing my my IQ I have for the game and you know

It’s not time to yeah it’s not a lot of time to practice a lot you know it’s not a lot of time to kind of kind of you got to do everything on the go uh so you know me coaching on the sidelines you know giving guys my you know some advice

You know it might come off kind of strong because we don’t have a lot of time but you know I’m here to win so uh you know I’m here to do whatever it takes uh Eric name the athletic um I I guess one thing Doc had talked about

Earlier was that when he went to when we went to LA he needed to bring culture in he said he felt here it’s pretty well established you kind of mentioned that there how do you try to find the line of doing what you do and making sure that

Everything that they do here you’re you’re not I don’t want to say upsetting it but to try to find your place I guess uh I mean my the way I go about things I’m you know I’m not going to make everyone happy you know I’m upset some

People the way I you know you know hold myself at a high standard and I expect everyone else to do the same um so you know my Approach is very strong you know until you really get to know me you know but once you get to know me you

Understand hey man he only thing he does is want to win you know um but you know doc I you know when doc got the job you know I was excited for him I think I was you know he told me I was one of the

First people who text him when he got it uh you know and I look at it like you know a coach who’s come here his first move trade deadline was to come get me you know I look at it like that uh so obviously I tip my hat the dark man do

You know it’s like pops man me I tell y’all some crazy stories man me and Doc been in the trenches together for for many many years so uh you know you got your pops calling you back and you know it’s all love here how much does it mean to chase a

Championship for you I know this is something only thing for me only thing left right only thing left for me obviously uh you know when it comes to IQ and knowing knowing the game I know it in and out better than a lot of coaches but I think my next you know

With a s it for me as a championship right I you know I earned a ton of money in this league I’ve I played with a ton of a ton of players a ton of superstars and you know right there come up short injury here come up short you know um

3-1 lead come up short so uh I’m I’m you know to to you know to end this Legacy as a championship only thing uh Jamal CER from ESP ESPN nice to meet you again yeah you uh you mentioned just mentioned about doc uh and just relationship with him I just kind of

Want you to ask you more about that and just like um what how would you describe you know relationship with him through the years and why do you think him coming into the situation obviously you ain’t been here but in this midseason like why do you think that that’s um

Something he can succeed in I guess I mean obviously I can’t speak on the past obviously I don’t know the coaching staff that was here before but I can I can I can speak on the past with me and Doc you know um you got to think we made

The Chris Paul trade you know me you know I’m the point guard you know replacing Chris Paul you know um everyone told me to pass he’s the hardest on point guards um you so coming coming to A Team where we want you know that talented man he was riding me to

Death oh man he was so hard on me oh man I me and Doc used to used to go at it but you know I understood his vision I understood you know what type of player I can be if I you know let go myself and

You know more into the system and when I did I became a different player you know I became a full point guard then you know me listening to him his wisdom what he had to bring his knowledge of the game and then after that once I let go

Of the Reigns and kind of like absorb everything doc had it’s my game just went to a whole another level I was able to go to other teams and play some you know pick and rol you know with Elite level my assist ATT Turnal ratio is you

Know at Elite level and that’s all because of Doc you know he’s man and I used to who man I used to go home and some nice man this doc man but but uh but man he’s uh you know I’ve learned so much from him you know even

When you know I was on other teams I text them I you know any type of information I can get from them uh I’ve always reached out so uh yeah my me me and Doc’s like a you know like a father son relationship so uh I’m happy to be back with

Him how do you go about establishing chemistry with these guys just coming in in in February yeah I think that you know if you all about the right things right you know I think everything comes and kind of falls into play I don’t think it’s kind of force right you guys

Work you know you guys work with other colleagues you know if you all guys are on the same page about okay cool we going to do it we going to do it the right way I don’t think it’s animosity obviously you might step on a shoe here

And there you know you might you might take a coffee that’s not yours here and there right you might you feel me you know in the lunchroom you might eat you know let me close my mouth when I when I chew a little bit and I don’t want to

Disrespect anybody right on the work scene but that’s all comes with the work scene but um as as far as collectively uh putting the best product out consistent ly every single night I think that’s that’s the most selfless act uh jacksonr brw hoop. it’s a hell of a name

Thank you you’re welcome um just wondering just I saw your tweet from earlier that you were hoping the campaign would get his physical done early so you can be here um just what was your excitement level just trying to get in and try and play tonight and get

To know some of your new teammates i i i Ain going to lie I didn’t want to beat Denver Nuggets my first game you know I’mma Be honest I ain’t gonna sit here lie to you you know I want to kind of you know okay cool let

Me let me see what’s going on with Charlotte let me kind of get back out there you know let me get my routine up under me I mean I got eight suitcases in in the hotel still unpacked you know so I’m just trying to get my legs up under

Me trying to you know learn everything off the go obviously I’m trying to be myself obviously I’m trying to be a good teammate you know within the last I don’t know 10 hours you know so uh I mean I met a ton of people today I you know

Remember some I don’t they Tred to get me the access to to get in the gym I told them only thing I wanted to focus on was uh was the game so uh fortunately we got to win tonight thanks subscribe

  1. This is actually a perfect trade.
The more hungry vets that are good on the Bucks the better to get another Championship.
He brings the energy like Bobby does. Really if we could get PJ Tucker somehow on the last bench spot this team would be so good.

  2. Beverlys offense is underrated. He can shoot and is a great defender. He will help the Bucks greatly.

  3. Lol is dude drinking a Miller Lite?… Anyway, I love this trade and hope he enjoys Milwaukee. The debut was awesome.

  4. Sixers fan. So good to hear this man talk. It was an absolute delight to have been blessed with Pat's prescence on our team. He is all about passion, optimism, enthusiasm…in my opinion, his intangibles make him a superstar. He is coach and player. He goes hard all the time like Michael Jordan. Just love him. He plays the game with a high level of intelligence. Will miss you much Pat. Bev and Maxey really bring a certain kind of energy and love for the game. Pat, I am glad you are happy as a Buck and wish for you continous blessings from God. Congratulations Bucks fans and organization! You have a gem.

  5. Hope Bucks nation treats him as well as the Sixers fans did and yall come up short against Denver in the finals, or when it all if for some wild reason Denver isnā€™t in the Finals.

  6. Says a lot about how much respect Doc Rivers has for Pat Bev. This is the 3rd team he has brought him along with him.

  7. I was happy to see the ovation the crowd gave him when he entered the game. He made the perfect entrance by hitting his 1st bucket from the corner for 3. All net. Let's go Pat Bev. You deserve a ring.

  8. Damn, it's not too many players who I miss as a fan of the game, but Pat Bev is definitely one who we could've kept just because of heart. Allen Iverson is the last person Philly had with a heart that was bigger than the game. No matter what team he's on I hope the best for Pat Bev as an individual, not the team.

  9. Better then Payne, needed some dawg for this team. Bucks been playing like they entitled, petty and shi all season. Need someone to set them straight and make them realise the goal is the chip

  10. brings a miller lite to his podium and calls his coach a motherfucker at 5:50 (i know it was in past tense but still) dude is one of a kind

  11. Yā€™all got a good one!!! Milwaukee ya gained a fan. Here for PatBev. Still a Sixers Fan, but how can u not like Pat Bev. A DAWG for real !!!
