Wow he messed up taking that 2 year $48 million extension. Curious what he will actually get now. There’s no way any team out there will give him anything close to $24 million per year.

Salary was not mentioned, or at least directly. But I guess it’s a msg sent by Klay&his agent. He knew he fumbled this season by his poor performance, and it would get uglier if he entered FA in summer. His ego might got hurt more if he sees the contract sent by other teams… An early extension with reasonable salary + year, and give him some sort of Livingston+Andre role is the best outcome at moment. MDJ is not Bob, he is able to make rlly rough decisions despite emotions.

Klay’s a real one. But just b.c. he transitions to a reduced role, doesn’t mean it’ll be like that forever. It’s a good opportunity for him to figure out how to simplify his game. But this is progress.
