[Lewenberg] Worth noting that the Raptors once benched/suspended Siakam 1 game for leaving the bench & going to the locker room early (after fouling out). The message at the time: that’s not acceptable behaviour from a young leader. Will they take the same “tough love” approach with Barnes?

They definitely should take action. The team needs to hold Scottie to a standard.

At this point Scottie prob already in Indiana for all star game his brain atleast

I doubt he cares about pacers game on Wednesday

  3. lol what are they gonna do? They gave him the keys and the team has no leverage here. Piss him off too much and he’s out.

  4. EarthWarping

I was surprised they didn’t give him one of the B2B games off on the weekend as an aside

Man we can’t do that vs the pacers the one game that winning has somewhat importance

  6. Most def Barnes needs to be grilled for that. IDC about his feelings. We aint molding another Bargs.

Can we sign Charles Oakley for the rest of the season?

  8. I really thought the Raptors were building an elite team culture similar to the Spurs/Heat type teams. Where low effort was unacceptable and players took pride in everything they did.

It kind of seems like they imploded all of that over the last year.

Pascal could handle it, Barnes is too childish.

  10. His conduct during this game was unacceptable. If they don’t act, it’s going to send a bad message to the rest of the locker room

Scott was sulking most of the game tonight. Hope he figures out the emotions part of being a leader.

  12. Way to lead by example after being gifted an undeserved all-star spot.

Darko won’t do fucking shit. The FO will probably issue some fine and order one steaming fresh hit piece from Doug Smith.

  14. Bench his ass. We’re losing anyways and this kid needs to learn that Raps culture and Raps fans won’t tolerate this childish behaviour. Embarrassing that this is our franchise player. Darko may need to rethink his future face of the league comments, there’s way more deserving young players.

I don’t want to pile on, but it’s obvious to anyone that Barnes’ biggest area of development are attitude and work ethic. He is capable of both but neither of those are a given night to night.

He can be a great player but unless he matures he’s never gonna be a leader.

There enough smoke on the record and frankly you can see it just in the court. He’s easily shaken off his game and can’t regain his focus or contribute in other ways.

And, this is a small thing, but Scottie almost NEVER sprints to pickup teammates. In fact often despite someone lying on the ground he’ll just turn around and walk to the bench.

I’m not saying he doesn’t help people up, but he doesn’t make an effort to be aware and do it as an example for the team and culture. I genuinely believe little things like this are what leaders do. It’s what Kyle and DeMar did so you knew they had your back. At some point the team has to address it.

    – Fred and Pascal, two of arguably the actual hardest working, most self-made players in the league, are annoyed by the way Scottie is coddled despite not having their work ethic – the work ethic passed on to them by DeMar, Kyle and Kawhi.

    – Masai literally has to scold Scottie like a teenager in season because Nurse won’t do it

    – The Star reports the organization was not thrilled with his offseason work ethic

    – the FO, despite him winning a ROTY, feels it prudent to wait until he actually shows development in year three before committing to him as a franchise player

I’m very worried about Barnes, there is been way too many stories about his immaturity. After last year, you would think we would hear more stories how’s he’s maturing as an NBA player as he becomes the main guy, but if anything, they seem to be getting more.

This was why I was saying that the issues on the roster ran both with the young and older players. Problems are never one sided, and well, we might be seeing the part that wasn’t FVV/Nurse/Siakams

Legitimately looked like he was walking to the locker room eating a bag of sour keys. I’m sure it was something else like protein or w.e., but the image of him pouting in the hallway and leaving his team while soothing himself with snacks is literally pathetic. I’m sick of Darko’s ‘mom’s new boyfriend’ I’m always the nice guy schtick. Someone hold somebody accountable around this team.

Suspend him, move him to the bench and make him carry the team’s luggage. Also no video games privileges for 2 weeks.

  20. SlapThatAce

Sooo is Pascal still hindering Scottie’s growth?

  21. Remember back to back games last season where Nurse benched Gary, and then Scottie. Their answers when asked in a presser of their thoughts to being benched said a lot for me. I’ve always just figured Scottie just has some growing to do

  22. an_immature_child

Was at the game tonight. Highlights were Dick, Olynyk, Wemby.

Lowlights were all the times Barnes whined at the refs and stood around instead of getting back on defense.

  23. Jackibearrrrrr

I mean I agree this was soft as shit but we got a lot of nephews in here showing their true colours on how they feel about the franchise as a whole when every game there is a new over reaction to and subsequent which hunt of Scottie for something he did.

Again weak as fuck to walk off like that. I agree, but holy fuck it’s insufferable to scroll on this sub right now.

  24. He ain’t the face of the league yet that’s for damn sure. Got some growing up to do first
