The first loss in a game that I didn’t attend they just looked like the better team after both games watching against us they looked like the better team either that or the matchup with us is just very good we’re not getting good shots and there’s not a coincidence

Why they’re number one in the league in defensive rating and you can see why as I said in the last episode we saw when we played them Rudy gobear yeah Clipper fans we don’t like the guy he’s great at what he does but in game five and six we found

Something when we went small mainly game six against the Jazz two years ago three years ago we went small and they did not have guys that could stay in front of the ball but Rudy goar wasn’t so when they didn’t have guys that can stay in front

Of the ball Rudy goar had to come play Help defense leaving teren man open for three and the rest is history but now he’s surrounded by great point of attack Defenders and in this game you had Conley guarding Harden Ant-Man guarding pa George Jaden McDaniels guarding kawhai Rudy goar on

Zoo and Cat on Terren man on our side the only matchup I could tell was Terrence guarding ant to start the game every possession we were switching and that involves goar we’d have other like kawhai Paul Terren even Harden one time guarding goar guarding Cat zoo guarding McDaniels and McDaniel scored on zoo

Twice and there were both shots that I did not expect him to make taking Zub bots off the bounds one of them was like a running layup running hook looking thing and then another mid-range but the Wolves were much more disciplined with their game plan of who

They were allowing to switch onto our players so for example they weren’t willingly switching goar and towns onto our perimeter players much sometimes they would get caught on a cross match in transition or they were in drop coverage and the guard pulls it back out so they had that late

Switch action but they weren’t just willingly switching towns and goar onto our guys like that and I thought if there’s one thing I could have said that we could have done offensively in terms of switch hunting is try to get Mike connley switched on to Paul and kawhai

More but they were doing a good job doubling that and I had a criticism of kawhai last episode that he wasn’t passing quickly enough out of doubles and I think in this game he absolutely did but the close out speed of the Wolves is very impressive to me this was

More me seeing the wolves are for real I’m not saying they’re going to win the championship or anything cuz I think they still need some trials and tribulations and losses in the playoffs to get to that but they might go to the Conference Finals I mean who knows their

Defense is really good and their number one option is for real I mean we could not stay in front of him at all I thought the best person that did a the best job on him was Terence man who forced him into some tough contested jumpers which to be honest Ant-Man

Bailes you out with that he was 1 for 11 from three and seven for seven from the field This Guy’s first step is insane he’s built like an absolute tank he’s a great finisher as a result and his passing is wildly improved and he guards and the thing about Minnesota

They play very physical this was one of the most loosely called games I have ever remembered in in The Last 5 Years I mean nothing was being called until the third quarter where the wolvves just started getting all the calls all of a sudden and shot 13 free throws and made

All of them but I have to say they were attacking the paint a lot more the Wolves scored 64 points in the paint to our 42 that’s a 22-point difference and they beat us by a final score of 121 to 100 so you know what that tells you they had

A much easier time scoring in the paint why is that well if it zubot isn’t 100% so he’s still on a minutes restriction he only got 23 minutes remember last time we didn’t have Zoo against these guys guys and it hurt but Rudy goar I got to hand it to him he was

Unbelievable he shut down everything he had four blocks but I’ll tell you it felt like he had more because of the amount of shots that he altered the amount of times that he made our players think about taking a shot or pump faking and you know the craziest part is he and

Cat cat was in drop coverage when he was playing at the five but when he was at the four he was hedging to take away the pullup from Harden and Paul and he’s okay with that because goar is there for the backside Rim protection so the Wolves they’re tough customers and for

Us you know you need to be very good offensively to beat this team and that involves the Clippers not pounding the ball so much and I’m looking at Paul George James Harden and Russell Westbrook mainly firstly Paul George especially in that second quarter to start it what was he doing like I love

Paul George so much but he completely and I I sound like a broken record saying this over and over he completely bails out the defense every time with his contested jumpers and the amount of dribbles he takes before he takes those shots there were several moments in this

Game where when he catches the ball at the elbow when he gets his back to the basket and posts up a smaller guy he can shoot over the top or create a double team situation where he can pass but instead he chooses to continuously make things difficult for

Example he had Carl Anthony Town switched on to him at one point of the first quarter he’s doing a 100 dribbles try to get a step back and a highlight and finally he’s like you know what I could just go around him goes to his right and gets fouled like this guy is

So frustrating and it’s going to be the death of him if he doesn’t stop this nonsense in the playoffs seriously because here’s the problem in this game he had glimpses where he’s doing the right things throws the ball out repost how many times you see Paul George kick

It out and then ask for the ball to repost he did in this game and he scored one time very disappointing the wolves have too much signs for the Clippers and you know what what I was banking on when I said the other day it’s not a big deal you know

Every team has flaws I was banking on Carl Anthony towns playing soft not taking advantage of mismatches not using that great post game we saw at Kentucky but in this game he was being very aggressive he was taking advantage of smaller guys he wasn’t just complaining for fouls and maybe that’s what he’s

Been doing all year and I just don’t watch The Wolves enough because I’m so busy and I watch the Lakers and the Clippers all the time car Anthony towns he was a Difference Maker and if he plays like this this wolves team can go very far extremely far and go be too

He had some nice moves that dunk on kawhai was nice but I think he might have traveled on that but I will say this the fact that he was able to kill us on the offense of glass showed that you know back in the day we were able to

Put Reggie Jackson on him switch on to him in the playoffs and he wouldn’t punish us now he’s playing a little more mph and if Carl Anthony towns is killing us down low Nas Reed is destroying us when he’s in the game and mind you when they

Went with goar out they were playing cat and NS Reed so think about this size compared to what we’ve got and we went small more in this game than ever Mason plumbley only played N9 minutes in the whole game and he only played in the first half and then Daniel Ty played

Five minutes came in towards the end of this third quarter with 238 left in the quarter and it wasn’t pretty you know not and it was already not going pretty with the small ball and I’ll tell you A big flaw with the small ball was having

Russ out there so the moral of story The Wolves had way too much size we couldn’t stop them one-on one both teams are switching a ton and you know what switching does it forces teams to go one-on-one and mismatch hunt where are the mismatches for us they’re not that

Many of them because they don’t have that many bad defenders in their rotation we have more than them James Harden’s defense was good in the passing Lanes but one-on-one against face up guys he was terrible not cuz he wasn’t trying he’s just not that good that guarding guys one-on-one facing up he’s

A good post Defender he has great hands Russell Westbrook I don’t think he was that good defensively in this game I didn’t notice much at all he tried to guard goar he got one or two steals in the second half but in the first half there were times where he was detached

Uh on the point of attack and when he misses those layups and by the way there was a crucial stretch in this game towards the end of the third where he was missing a bunch of chippies he was out of control he was one for five in

The third and when he misses those a lot of times he’s lazy to get back when we get scored on so just very very tough and you know one thing that the wolves do is they because of goar’s ability and their point of attack Defenders they

Play the pick and roles 2v2 which means that they don’t rotate they let gobear basically guard two guys at once and Trust the guy that’s guarding the ball to get back in front so if you’re wondering why didn’t we get so many open threes in this game well because they

Love to stay home and play those pick and rolls two on two so that’s why Terren man had zero three-point attempts that’s why Norman Powell only had two three-point attempts and you know why Russ had five by Design so should Terence man have probably taken one or two absolutely uh I think

He’s starting to be a little too hesitant you need to like he started to clap for the ball recently like again at the end of the road trip against Atlanta these last couple of games at home he’s become timid again if he sets screens he needs to pop out with conviction and ask

For the ball and I think at times Harden and kawhai are looking away from him and he needs to demand the ball seriously I know he’s Terrence man but he’s shooting 48% from three in the new year 48% from three he needs to be better but I don’t

Think he was that bad in this game really I think his statline what one for three that’s he didn’t impact the game much but I don’t think he hurt the Clippers much that’s the thing defensively I don’t so I don’t think he should be guarding Carl Anthony towns

And goar like we need to be more selective with our switching next time we play them the only people that should be guarding goar and switching on to him are The Bigs Kawai and that’s it as far as cat I wouldn’t put teren man on him or switch on him or you know

What I’ll go with Westbrook Harden even that’s a little iffy but Westbrook Harden not even coffee either Westbrook Harden The Bigs kawhai or Paul that’s it against cat and against ant Terrence Amir Russ Kawai and Paul that’s it no Harden no norm and against Nas Reed we’re going

Very frustrating when he continues to do the same things year after year and and I get it it’s going to happen some nights but this was a big game goar was in drop for the majority of the game the classic goar drop as I mentioned with Carl Anthony towns hedging and

Recovering when goar was at the five but when he was at the five he was dropping as well and as I said a lot of switching on both sides but the reality is the Timberwolves they can do it and we can’t with some of these matchups as I

Mentioned at the end of that last segment you know another reality of this match up it’s not a good one for Russ he had some solid moments when he first checked into the game of going downhill cuz they were putting their big on him whether it was cat or Nas Reed

But after a while you started to see especially with the refs letting them play so much I mean these guys weren’t calling anything Russ when goar is out there because we know his jumper is not that good and he violated the rule today my

Rule for him he was one for three and he kept on shooting he was one for five from three three in the game three for 11 from the field four for five from the foul line which is good but he had 11 points two boards three assists two

Steals just one turnover so that’s one positive for him but three for 11 from the field one for five from three a lot of them are those layups where he misses and he doesn’t get back he missed a dunk at one point and it was a nice Baseline

Drive I think goar was in his rear view I don’t know if that affected it at all he has just had plenty of Miss dunks in the last couple of years but the threes I mean we could really do without those and I personally think this matchup is

Just bad for Russ because if he’s not a good jump shooter which he isn’t he’s streaky for I mean sometimes you can make some threes here and there but every team’s going to live with it and his Advantage is getting to the cup and Rudy goar is waiting

There I don’t have confidence that he can drive by goar and make a lay I think he can drive by goar but can he make the layup with goar in his rear view goar’s already sagging off on him and if you put somebody else on him and

Goar’s just in help with with zu out there I just don’t think it’s a match up for us and when we go small which we did so much in this game to try to combat it surprisingly so we didn’t try to match them with size we went small against

Them which has worked for us in the last couple of games but the problem was they were abusing us down low which is why teams didn’t go small in the history of basketball because they thought they would get abused down low but they just didn’t have the three-point shooting of

Today’s game right but when you have Russ in there and goar is sagging off of him daring you to give him the ball then it’s cooked so the reality is of this matchup I don’t think Russia play that much unfortunately I think there’s potential in this the big four lineup with Norm

But they’re going to leave Russ open and I’d leave goar in if I’m to Minnesota because I have the point of attack defense to stay in front I can have goar helping and it’s not a big deal the reason why goar got paid for in the playoffs was because Terren hit all

Those threes and then the Jazz did I mean the Mavs did the same with Cleber and uh Dorian finy Smith like and Reggie Bullock like those guys were all hitting so that’s the reality of this series and here’s another thing as good as kawhai was and I thought his rotations were

Good I thought I mean he missed some shots in the in the first quarter but that those two dunks to end the first quarter were really hype we’re only down four points at the end of the first and in the second we had that great run to

End the quarter Paul George had that transition three from Terren man’s dish and then James Harden hit that three after he got an interception self and almost turned it over to give us a 5349 lead going into the second half but that third quarter they just messed us up seriously

40-9 in the third and I mean there were signs in the first half that could get ugly that when kawhai went out of the game they went up by eight or 10 points and Mason plumbley was being you know not playing very well bad decisions had two turnovers there was one time where

He he was spaced out way too deep in the corner for some reason instead of being in the dunker spot I don’t know if it was cuz he was afraid that Gober could help and recover I don’t even remember if goar was in the game but he completely nullified an advantage that

Russ created for him because he was too deep into the corner he’s not a shooter so I’m still Pro Ty over Mason but I’m Pro neither in this matchup because it’s been two games and these guys have not done anything and in the beginning of that second Harden and this kind of

Continued throughout the game but Harden struggled to create advantages in the pick and roll and this is one of the main things I was afraid of when we got him is against the high level competition will he be able to create the same advantages I hope he can he still made

Some good plays in this game but he ended five for 13 three for eight from three and four for five from the line 17.6 assists that’s a low assist game for him I’m happy he didn’t turn the ball over and I thought he was our second best player in the game after

Kawhai but he wasn’t good enough for us to beat this team Paul was worse Russ was worse but we’re going need better from everyone everyone Terrence TI everybody that plays is going to need need to be better against this team and that’s what I’m saying is we’re going to

Need to be really good against them to win that’s the reality it’s a tough matchup I know playoff basketball is different and I’m not saying we have no chance against them in the series but this is the first time this season I’ve watched the game and I was like we are

Help it feels helpless and it’s been twice it’s not a one game situation it was a great ending to that second quarter we ended it on a 20 to6 run and funny enough it was some small ball with the big four plus Terren to end the quarter that ended up being good

Terren had good defensive moments um but I was very impressed with the Wolves defense they guard chest to chest they don’t just switch unnecessarily either you have to set a real screen for them to switch so Mason bat no real hard screens you’re going to have to take the

Hit to the chest I’m sorry same with Terrence and even when Harden sometimes he doesn’t really scream like sometimes they in the plays that the Clippers run they get hard in the screen but he kind of just stops for a second and goes he doesn’t really set a real screen a lot

Of the time s you got to set a real screen against these guys cuz they won’t just switch like that but anyway coming up going to be talking about if the front office made a blunder not addressing what we already knew was a potential issue going to be talking about that coming

121 to 100 run some stats by you real quick wolves outscoring the Clippers 40 to9 team in the third and 3228 in the fourth so they outscored us 72- 47 in the second half which is terrible we shot 40 a half% big credit to the Wolves defense every shot felt contested

We need the best out of our offensive players to beat them and Kawai didn’t even play the entire fourth quarter he had 18 points in the game on eight for 17 shooting and one for three from Deep again kawhai not getting getting many open threes four rebounds one assist one steal three

Turnovers so I thought kawhai was pretty good but in the fourth quarter he didn’t play and this goes back to what I’ve been saying since last year I would prefer if Kawai played the whole fourth instead of the whole third we’ve agreed on these nine guys playing

Right we have the ninan rotation of course Plumley Ty there’s still a debate on that but Amir Russ Norman the starters are all going to play We still we’ve been playing with the minutes we can play with them some more I think having Kawai sit out in the

Fourth quarter is just going to be detrimental I don’t know if he’ll run out of gas but I would much rather have him play the whole fourth than Kawai than Paul and Harden play the whole fourth if Harden plays the whole fourth fine but if I have to choose between

Kawhai or Paul I want kawhai playing the whole fourth quarter because I need him to get into a rhythm you know I want him taking over the game not he’s coming in with 5 minutes left after Paul George and Harden have gotten going because they started the quarter route and now

Kawhai is only getting three shots in the quarter he’s our best player so nah he didn’t play the fourth because tyou was trying to see if those guys could come back and they couldn’t and he tried a I mean he went to no Ty no plumbley

But as I said the small ball lineups without Russ against the Wolves I don’t think they’re going to work I’m sorry with Russ are aren’t going to work so what do you do I say Harden Paul kawwai Amir Terren at the best bet Norman hard against a team like this if

Ant-Man hunts them in the pick and roll he there’s no way they can stand in front of him he Paul George couldn’t even stay in front of him and they don’t go at Kawai because they know he’s a good Defender so no team puts him in the

Action I have to say they were well coached Minnesota I don’t know what they say about Finch over there they’re well coached they have great defensive personnel with Kyle Anderson coming off the bench with his long arms nil Alexander Walker very good Defender 15 points five assists for nikil Alexander

Walker two steals on 6 for9 shooting and three for three from Deep Ant-Man had 23 points seven rebounds and eight assists on 8 for 18 shooting Carl Anthony Towns at 24 on 8 for 12 shooting and then goar had 17 and 10 to go along with four

Blocks on six for1 shooting and Jaden McDaniels had 11 points on 5 for eight shooting he was attacking Closeouts and creating off the bounce I couldn’t believe that is that normal cuz if it is this team is serious NZ re had 11 as well so a bunch of guys in double

Figures six players Clippers at five but yeah Kawai finished with 18 didn’t play the fourth Paul George had played 30 minutes 18 points on five for 16 shooting and two for eight from three 186 and three that’s six rebounds three assists for Paul no turnovers though but

Five for 16 from the field and two for eight from three half his shots are threes not a good performance Terren man two points on one for three shooting his bucket was towards the end of that second quarter when he drove and had that nice take um but overall they

Stayed home so he didn’t get much opportunity Amir coffee played 26 minutes he had 10 points on four for five shooting and one for one from three he was actually okay but man tough and then Norm Powell I haven’t even mentioned him so like we’re letting him

Switch on to guys like nor like Nas Reed and stuff like that it’s tough K can’t have that next time and he had that bandage or whatever it was uh over his you know that spot where he got elbowed right above his nose um and I don’t know I don’t know if that

Bothered him but he looked like he struggled they really shut him down didn’t give him open shots two for seven from the field for Norm six points in 16 and a half minutes so not much burn for him Clippers Los at 121 to 100 and it

Makes me wonder I said the other day no team has no and for the Wolves it’s that can Carl Anthony towns be like this every game can he truly be that second star to the Ant-Man will Ant-Man is Ant-Man ready this year to take his team all the way

To the chip and win I think he’ll be ready at some point of his career but he’s very young still he’s younger than me crazy to believe but the Clippers I struggle to have faith in the two of the three stars that start Paul and Kawai two of those

Stars to have good games four times in a seven game series against them they have such good Personnel to guard us McDaniels does a good job on Kawai even some of the shots that Kawai was making over Kyle Anderson Kyle was right there and they have good guys to Guard Paul

Too and Harden Conley’s doing how is he so good at defense though Mike Conley I don’t get it and then goar is sitting there it’s a really good defensive team and Paul George Kawaii and Harden we know the flaw they’re older and they don’t get to the rim the same and Paul

George is the one that can get to the rim the best probably and he is lazy sometimes I think Harden is more aggressive than Paul getting to the rim but I just don’t think he’s quick as quick as Paul is at this stage but also Paul can Elevate Harden can’t really

Elevate like that anymore against the Wolves it showed me that we need we need something we need another body we did the front office may have made a mistake and I was wrong cuz I didn’t realize I didn’t think the wolves are really that

Much of a threat I was like I think we can beat the Lakers cuz they don’t have the point of attack Defenders the the pattern is the Lakers gave us problems the Cavs all teams with size right but the Cavs play in the Eastern Conference so I’m not worried about them right now

We have to make the finals to play them the Lakers I a little bit worried but they don’t have the point of attack Defenders so ideally we should be able to have two of our big three play well on on four times out of seven against them

But LeBron has become a problem for us now that we used to not have before we had Nico even Marcus Morris like these guys would do a good job on him now a little nervous about Braun and AD is great obviously but the Wolves they have

The point of attack defense and the rim protection and the Ant-Man so the front office the fact that they Stood Still they’re gonna have to do something about this matchup whether it’s get chimzi metu get Blake Griffin if people wanted I know I’m not even joking if people wanted like

They’re like if they wanted a guy that could be a a stretch for like people are saying Kelly o l and all these we we have to trade somebody in our rotation and right now we can’t afford to trade guys like coffee and man in my opinion

CU who can you get that can play like it’s not like Aaron Gordon is just out there on the market where he can play point of attack defense and he’s a backside rim protector you know and he can shoot the three even though that’s one of Gordon’s flaws he’s not a great

Three-point shooter he’s gotten better but he’s not he’s the guy that people are going to leave open when they play Denver so those guys are just not growing on on trees get you know trading for somebody who can pop the three and he has size and can guard the point of

Attack you would have probably had to give up a point of attack guy to get another big body so then you would have had a flaw there because right now we’re not looking great at the point of attack either this team is a problem for us

Matchup wise and the reality is that we can’t we have to be more selective with our switching we probably have to play kawhai the whole fourth we need kawhai Paul and Harden to play really well we can’t play Rust that much in small ball lineups and zoo we need a healthy Zoo

That’s a huge thing against this wolves team we need a healthy Zoo he’s not healthy right now he had he was two for five played 23 minutes 6 Points 11 boards okay like I like the 11 boards five of them offensive two assists and a
