  1. Scoot and Ayton with excellent games and we were right with the best team in the West for 3 and a half quarters. I’ll take it and let’s run it back Thursday.

Also, Banton lets you run some interesting lineups with his height + skillset. Definitely worth giving up essentially nothing to get him

Rough fourth quarter but man, I love this team. We’re almost always competitive, and these dudes just don’t give up. Straight up ethical tanking.

DominAyton has officially arrived, and once again I’d just like to say Fuck Jason Quick.

Anthony Edwards is pretty good at basketball.

Making the #1 team sweat this bad for 40 minutes

    Better pick odds

    Deandre Aymax

    Deland-1 Banton

And a quietly great Scoot game

All in all, a great night for the team

Fun game until it wasn’t. I was entertained though! Get em back on Thursday

Here are some of my thoughts on this game. I like that we were competitive for three quarters and it was a one point game going into the fourth quarter against a top team. Not a bad tank loss at all.

    Positive:

    * Defense. Even though Edwards was hot, a lot of his shots were difficult and well-contested. The Blazers did a great job of taking the Wolves out of their offense and living and dying by tough 1v1 shots off the dribble. They also did a great job getting KAT taken out of the game with fouls, which makes the Wolves way easier to guard. I don’t compliment Chauncey’s gameplans a lot, but I think today’s was a pretty damn good one and kept us competitive for 3 quarters.
    * Ayton played great as well. He seems to be striking a balance between rolling hard to the rim, and knowing where the open spots are in the midrange (and not rolling into covered spots on the floor like he often did early on). Extremely efficient game, and he did a great job rebounding as well.
    * I think this was the most creative I’ve seen Scoot look as a playmaker. He’s had better games scoring the ball, but his decision making has been getting better and better as the season goes on, as he learns what windows he can throw passes through at the NBA level and which ones he can’t. Two passes that really stood out to me were the behind the back pass to Jabari (of course) and also the one he threw over the top to Jabari for a layup at the rim.
    * Dalano Banton reminds me so much of Justice Winslow in all the good (and some bad) ways. I’m really impressed by how well he moves his feet on defense and uses his length, and he seems to have some pretty good passing vision to boot. Hope we see some more of him in the future, and hope he can improve his shot – it’s looked….not completely broken in his first couple games here.

    Negatives:

    * I’ve watched a lot of Wolves games over the last few years and I don’t think I’ve ever seen NAW get that hot ever. He must be pissed we traded him for Joe Ingles or something.
    * When Edwards is feeling it like this, he’s legitimately unguardable. There’s absolutely nothing you can do.
    * Ant had a really poor night on both sides of the court. Jaden McDaniels with his neverending length and ability to fight through screens really bothers Ant, and if he gets by McDaniels the Wolves have to much length at the rim to snuff out all of his drives too. And he’s gotta be better defensively too – you can’t be letting Kyle Anderson score on you.
    * Grant missed a lot of shots and took a few bad ones but at least he generally did a pretty good job against KAT.
    * Matisse has quietly gone ice cold from three the last 20 or so games, and he’s probably going to fall back below 35% after tonight. Tough.

Oof that 4th quarter. Fun game overall until then, though. Ayton looked amazing and we should have fed him the ball more. Also, kind of surprising Banton got so many minutes (26!) in a game when both Ant and Scoot were active. Definitely not something I would have predicted a couple days ago.

Simons continues to be a disappointment this year. I’m hoping he’s not on the roster next season at this point.

That new camera angle is such. Please keep it

  9. Trick_Weapon

I like Simons as a player but if Scoot plays like this the rest of the way it will be time to trade Simons.

  10. No-Cryptographer7218

third quarter curse turned to fourth quarter curse

  11. That Scoot pass to Jabari has me trying to remember what I believe to be his clear cut best dime of the year so far… problem is, I just can’t seem to remember the details of it, and need your help!

I wanna say it was in the last 6-8 weeks, I think he threw it from somewhere near the free throw line, and it was absolutely spectacular. If anyone can help out from that very vague description, I’d be so happy!
