Cole still sucks and Franz needs to do better against good teams

  2. WunWunFirstofHisName

You know how the backup QB is always the most popular player on the team with disgruntled fans? That’s Jett Howard for us. The simple answer for a complicated problem.

  3. Debonair311

That’s the last time we’ll see a nationally televised game

  4. Background_Ruin_5880

Knicks are a much better matchup for us, and they’re beat up. Should be a W tomorrow, but who knows?

  5. KgMonstah

So there’s ZERO way to watch the Shaq jersey retirement. Bally Orlando is really playing a replay of a British basketball game?!

    Joke.

  6. bonafide89

OKC is the better team right now, so I’m not overreacting to the loss, but we do have a Fultz problem.

Teams do not guard him. It’s literally killing the spacing.

He has to look at the basket. It can’t just be all layups, dunks, and floaters. Is there any other team in the league that has a starting point guard who never looks at the basket?

  7. treadwater23

We also gotta give credit to OKC, like they’re a really good team for a reason and have a guy top 3 in MVP talks. Jalen Williams is hella efficient and a true #2 and Chet obviously holds down the defense while they have a lot of specialists on defense and threes like Dort and Joe.

Sucks to get outmatched but not like some scrub team beat us.

  8. MagicInOrlando

When I saw we had multiple rest days before this game I thought we were doomed. We’ve been horrible this year on too much rest. Add to that the fact that the Thunder are one of the best teams in the league this year, and it was a recipe for disaster.

I also was a little upset they spent like 20 minutes interviewing Paolo before the game…that’s just not good for a young player. Really throws off their rhythm. Really makes sense why Paolo didn’t really have anything going till late in the 2nd half.

  9. DALE-YA-BO

I know AB should be progressing his game outside of just playing in games, same with Jett, but it really sucks to not see them get any burn for what will likely be the rest of the season.

Cole and Fultz are just not good enough to hamper any development we can get out of AB.

I’m guessing Jett won’t get a single minute of non garbage time play but at least he gets reps in the G.

  10. Ok-Fun7442

Thunder fan here, first time seeing Moe play, is he always that animated? kinda reminds me of KG out there lol

  11. Jalen Williams played like he is an all star out there today. If he didn’t score those 33 points and scored his averages instead (18 pg), we might have had a chance. Still, we can see why OKC is a top team in the NBA. Don’t you worry, Magic will catch up real soon once we get a piece or 2 to fill in the roster for next season.

  12. Background_Ruin_5880

Free agency should be loaded with shooters.

I want 3-4 of them signed.

  13. raphael87

Thunder played great. One of the best performances from any team against us so far. I wish Mose would play AB in games like this to get some experience. He played well earlier in the year and it’s frustrating to not use him when our defense struggles to get stops.

  14. notafunnyperson1728

What swag did they give out at Kia center tonight ?

  15. philip_p_donahue

I think we have to keep running Cole just like Jalen Paolo and Franz have to keep throwing up 3s. Yes he’s been trash lately but before then he was a borderline 6MOTY candidate and the leader of the best bench in the NBA. The ability is there and he was contributing something like 16 points a game. I think it would be a big backwards move to just give up on him now. I think AB should take Harris’ minutes as we know what Harris ceiling is. I truly believe we haven’t seen the best of Cole yet

  16. GoApeShirt

Hard to believe OKC only made 2 more 3s than the Magic tonight. 13-11 , can someone confirm that. Just doesn’t seem possible.

  17. treadwater23

My confidence in the FO is 50/50. Knicks fans were hellacious about their front office being terrible until the Jalen Brunson trade and even then, some were mad they didn’t get Donovan. Ever since then, they’ve made a bunch of great moves. Granted, their “core” guys are 26, 27 and 29, but our guys are getting ready to compete so it would have been nice to see a bit of a precursor to what the future holds.

I’m not overreacting because I think regardless of who we got this year, we’re not beating Celtics, Cavs, healthy Bucks, etc.

Also not overreacting because our needs are very obvious. It’s not like we’re unsure how to get better because we already have great defenders and need spacing and a guard with gravity outside of Suggs.

Now it’s all about hoping they actually make those moves.

  18. GoApeShirt

OKC made 2 more 3s than the Magic in that game? Wow, that blows my mind.

  19. Milla4Prez66

Doing the retirement ceremony after the game was a bad idea tbh. It’s gotta be deflating in the building a bit right now.

  20. MagicDruid

Beaten by a better team who played some of their best basketball, despite what some are saying there’s no shame in it.

I must admit though I wouldn’t hate to see a change in the bench line up, we’ve been riding it for a while and the offense hasn’t been there especially with Cole’s struggles. I thought AB was playing well with that group or even move Fultz to play off the bench.

  21. OKC is really good. SGA will get another first team all nba. Good ole fashioned butt whooping. Did you see how much they sagged off Fultz. The paint was clogged.

  22. MenBeGamingBadly

    Brit here.

Was excited to come see this game.

Was even more excited after the performance the other night.

    Current mood: feels badman

Still had a great time in Orlando though!

  23. Background_Ruin_5880

Unrelated, but there are two people who are unbearable in game threads. They know who they are.

The lack of shooting sucks, but the sky isn’t falling. Just chill a bit. We’re still ahead of schedule.

  24. The big difference between the two teams was ball movement on offense.

They create so many great opportunities for each player out there.

We gotta work on that and proper cutting into the paint.

I’m really feelin for P5, he works to get his miss match or one on one, but because his teammates aren’t moving/positioning well enough, they just double him or close his space as in zone around him and his shot or drive that would’ve been like a 5 on the difficulty scale becomes a 9 or a 10. This is very evident to why he’s down on efficiency all season.

Someone like a WCJ gotta set the screen and roll out away from P5 to draw the double away and if he can’t draw them away well at least WCJ should be out on the arc or thereabouts for the outlet pass and an open look.

Until P5 sorts his handle he can’t be the facilitator from half court, simple as that. He making it easy for opposing D to cover him when he dishes off then tries to cut or position for iso/post. He not forcing the D to change structure at all. He better off running a triangle from top of arc to corner, hug the baseline to the other corner and repeat.
He can get plenty of separation if he utilizes traffic.

Work hard but smarter to get the easier look in…

  25. maursupial

It’s almost time to let Markelle sit on the bench until he can shoot a 3. He destroys the spacing and shot one three before the deadline to save his ass. Anthony Black needs to take the all star break leap.

  26. Effective_Owl_17

Biggest game of the regular season we got sga going viral for telling us to go home

  27. lil_thirdy

The lights were too bright for us tonight unfortunately. Franz also picked the wrong game to have a bad game. Paolo was locked up by Dort and he settled for those midrange instead of just attacking the smaller defenders on him. This probably the worst game of JI this season, he didnt make enough impact on the defensive side to compensate for his poor offensive game. Suggs was also getting cooked by SGA, love Jalen but he always has a hard time guarding bigger guards.

Overall OKC was too good for us. They were in complete control of the game and they just made every shot look easy. Forntunately this isnt the end of our season like what the game thread would like you to think lol. Hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow

  28. Prestigious_Earth_10

at the end of the day just remember this front office thought trading 2nd rd pks was to much to add shooting for this.. games like this will continue especially against good when u lack shooting and have markelle starting and cole struggling simple as that have a good night

  29. BigSteeze7

This squad absolutely rolled over, in part because of our prehistoric offense and in part just cuz they got punked by a better team built by a better gm. Weltman should be fired for not getting a guard that can shoot at the deadline and I don’t want to hear shit about being a “doomer”. The bottom of the east is open for us to get in but they will lose in the play in because lack of shooting. Just one game but that was embarrassing and it just shows how far they actually are from being good.

  30. actualoldcpo

Bunch a fuckin children. Good young team. Good young coach. Fuck you sniveling lil whiners. Love these kids. They’re playing well and becoming very good. One game at a time

  31. I’m gonna be honest, downvote me all you want, SGA and J Williams are way better players than Franz and Paolo. They are genuinely unguardable. We can’t guard them, and we don’t have anyone who can score like they can. We are still a long way away from being contenders. Props to OKC, their rebuild has been phenomenal. They are contenders right now. We are still a few years away. Weltham has a lot of work to do. Our roster construction is dogshit. Jalen, Franz, and Paolo are our only long-term pieces. Everyone else is replaceable. We need an entire new backcourt. Cole, Gary, and Kelle all have to go. I’m not so sure about the front court either. Wendell is a poor defender, and JI cannot score. We have some tough decisions to make, and we need to draft better, and we need to sign some big money talent.

  32. SonicNarcotic

I’m not gonna overreact like many others have.. In a season-defining contest we couldn’t get close all game, and I’ll have to lay a lot of that on Coach Mose.. I still believe we have the personnel to roll a team like OKC, but when things aren’t going our way (shooting troubles, getting stops) I’m looking for what adjustments are being made to ease the difficulties..?

Today it looked like Moseley couldn’t find a way to get us back into game and without any significant adjustments made, our young squad looked like they were constantly on the back foot.. We basically allowed a red hot OKC to dictate the proceedings..

What I want to see again is a return to the stability we had with both starting and 2nd Five lineups (Goga’s got to come into the equation abit more + AB).. I want to see more of the Ingles and Mo duet that was a hallmark of our second unit.. I want JI to be on the court a little bit more, and expanding his utility with both starting and bench lineups throughout a game.. I want to see Paolo in the low block, taking advantage of switches and mismatches and drawing easy fouls…

What doesn’t need to happen is the players dropping their heads after this loss.. There’s plenty more season left to fix a lot of the problems, but the job could be made easier by Coach Moseley recognising the personnel he has to work with, and returning to the things that work for us as a team…

  33. They shot 54% to our 45%. They shot 3s at 40% to our 30%. We out rebounded them but had 6 more turnovers.

Like it’s not that complicated. They hit really hot and kept it up and we tried to keep up and didn’t stick to the plan.

  34. SpideyUdaman

SGA is a beast. But he isn’t just the reason as their whole team was playing effectively. The majority of ours was just having a bad night just looking at those stats.

There’s no shame in attempting 2 point field goals since we’re more likely to make them. We’re significantly outrebounding OKC and should have made effective use of all the chance opportunities from that; by attempting to score where you would likely get points.

Our defense gave out and leaked opp offense. When offense is rough, just prioritize defense and go for easier shot selections that would most likely to attract being fouled as well.

  35. SamURLJackson

I haven’t watched this game. How was Jonathan Isaac -24 in this game? Looks like he didn’t make shots but I’m guessing the bench overall just didn’t play well?
