Chauncey Billups Postgame Interview | Portland Trail Blazers 109, Minnesota Timberwolves 121
Clearly things got away in the fourth but you got some bodies back you guys look better for the most part obviously pretty nice yeah I was I thought we played well for the most part uh first quarter just had too many turnovers I thought that hurt us early and um for
The most part we we did what we we wanted to try to do um with them in the game and we kept it we made it a game most of the most of the way and then they got away from us in the fourth quarter obviously but the kid and the
Kill uh man here some here some daggers you know um and I thought most of them were good D contested shots you know he just he kid his some big shots we talked last few days a little bit about trying to develop while you don’t have bodies
And how difficult that can be even though this is a loss it seems like one of those games where you can extract some things from this right sure sure I mean um I’ve always just been kind of talking about you know what what we can continue to learn from and how we can
Continue to develop some chemistry uh out there and I just you know I’ve said it I mean you look at da da has a a big night today uh tonight I’m sorry you know 11 for 12 and just the chemistry that’s scooting him and anting him are
Developing is has been pretty uh it’s been pretty neat to watch and see you know um and this is against the best defense in the in the league and maybe the best team at right now in the league so a lot of different a lot of different
Things that we could take from you know and feel like you you’ve got better tonight this is probably the most you’ve played in sco together maybe not the most minutes total but it’s it’s one of the games you played together the most what you think of that paing I thought
It was good you’ll see a lot more of it you know coming coming up here now you know the scoot is feeling much better um and hopefully he he’s not too sore after playing this many minutes I didn’t think that I would play him this many tonight
I was keeping an eye on him out there but um he got through it pretty good he’s just so tough you can never tell you know know but uh yeah that you’ll be seeing them play together a lot more what’s the balance with them like in
Terms of who initiates and who you know I saw you call a couple things like hey you go and there from the Ben a lot of that they’re just freelancing like what is the balance there particularly is a tricky little balance because I think both guys are much
Better with the ball in their hands um which makes it tough but also both guys also understand that they have to learn how to play without the ball in their hands cuz that other guys going to be on the floor you know um particular right now no shad and no Malcolm you
Know you got to have them both out there so some sets you know we like for anunt to initiate and then some sets are much better when scooter initiates you know but both guys I want them to both just be really aggressive the entire time and
No matter if you initiate or you get it on the second side just be who you are just play and be aggressive the entire time where do an Edwards spring for you as far as like the hardest guys in the league to deal with and game playay yeah he he’s up
There you know he’s up there he’s he’s a special he’s a special talent you know I I just I love how he competes um people don’t give him the credit but he can really guard he can really guard his offense is so good that people don’t talk about that but when he
Wants to lock in he can really guard the ball you know um he has a uh he’s he’s mean out there there you know which is beautiful you know um which is one of the things that I also love about scoop you know he’s tough he’s mean out there
Um but yeah ant ant has that he’s he’s one of the tougher guys to guard in the league what’s the development that you’ve seen really from scoot from opening night until now with as far as his breadth of passing is and his passing ability just being able to see
Different things whether it’s the bounce pass to the corner the drop off pass the bar as opposed to opening night where so much more of a tunnel I just think for scoo the biggest thing that that is uh the biggest difference from now and and and opening
Night is he understands what’s going to happen out there you know um he understands the coverages that he’s going to be faced with he’s starting to play against these teams for the second and third time so he’s starting to understand Personnel um his playmaking as you can
See is starting to pick up I think his confidence is is is is picked picked way up you know um and school can go into these games and he knows that he can get where he wants to get on the floor um it’s just a matter now of him knowing uh
You know the particular teams and coverages you know knowing what he wants to do certain nights okay these guys are going to go under the screen on me tonight these guys like to down me on the side uh these guys want to send it to the middle like just figuring out
What you want to do before the game even starts he’s starting to do some of those things um so you you’re just seeing the game kind of slow down a little bit for Scoot and that’s why you’re seeing them have so much success

Simons and Grant are veterans who play like rookies too often

5th straight loss where the Blazers choked. "The way Billups wants to play" even choked a 23 point lead against NBA worst Pistons. Fans in Portland are leaving the stadium with their tails between their legs.
Cronin & Billups cut Alexander-Walker. And here's Chauncey giving him credit for beating his team. Must be nice to manage Jody Allen basketball. She's not good with sports, but she likes her NBA paycheck.
