All honestly I been waiting for this moment for Shaq to finally have his Magic jersey retire he deserve it he started from being a rookie there to becoming a huge star there after his first year with the Magic by doing movies, rap albums and by taking them to the finals for the first time all during his Magic years!! Congrats SHAQ one of the best big man to ever play the game of basketball you truly deserve it. (reminder this is just my opinion everybody so dont feel some type of way about it okay 🤣)

He is probably the only player to retired his jerseys with 3 different teams. We didn’t think this day will happen. Nobody thought he would retire as a Magic. Which Magic player will get their jersey retired next? Any player from the Magic can retire their numbers. Congratulations Shaq for retiring as a member of the Orlando Magic. I remembered the time he played with Penny Hardaway, Nick Anderson, Dennis Scott and many others. I actually went to my first ever NBA game at the Anway Center. I grew up in orlando not far from the arena, I was a massive bulls fan, but loved watching the magic too. Nick anderson, penny, skiles, shaq, d3, horace grant, what a great team they had! It was really cool to be apart of a new franchise and i was at the first game ever along with first tampa bay lightning game here in tampa too! I met phil esposito that day too!

You may argue that “ it’s a business thing “ but you would be wrong . If the small market teams can’t compete on equal footing with the large market teams then a pro league is just a sham. Small market teams CAN compete in the NBA with the right leadership — look at San Antonio the past 25 years. I’m not from Orlando but the Magic should’ve been given the same opportunity and every possible thing should’ve been done by the league to keep Shaq in his prime in Orlando.
Instead, the NBA was intent , post-Jordan , of creating a mega-superstar in Shaq in part by green-lighting / encouraging his move to LA and letting him get away with murder in the paint .
